The plot looks simple at first but gets extremely complex when more is revealed...
For example, you'd start suspecting from episode 1 that those robots called Evas aren't actually robots... Hmmm. I'll place it on the back burner for now. |

Kaycee7: It's basically just a new frontier on the innovation front. This is how it has always been in history. During the Industrial Revolution, while some workers were wailing and protesting, some went and learnt how to operate the steam engines and shifted into new careers. During the inception of Social Media, while some people pushing conspiracy theories, others went ahead to grow followings and are now currently huge media brands. And now it's set to repeat the cycle with AI. I missed the Social Media window. Will be damned if I don't capitalize on this AI window.
If we've learnt anything from AI trends so far, it's going to take a while before OpenAi is done working out the kinks in Sora well enough for it to be open to mass use. Early users/testers will have a head start in prompt creation, content identification and modification.

Saturnalia: I have watched a lot of movies in my life, and only a few of them leave a lasting impression & satisfaction on me.
Two days ago, I watched a movie that I have been avoiding to download for over 3 years (even though it’s an old movie) simply because I thought it would amount to a waste of my precious data but I was wrong.
Till now, the movie is still playing in my head.
THIS MOVIE SWEET DIE!
Why don’t Hollywood make beautiful movies like this anymore?
In the last one week, I downloaded over 25 movies and only 3 of them were worthy to be added into my archive. I deleted the rest.
Gentlemen & Ladies, tonight, I recommend this beautiful movie for your viewing pleasure.
PERFUME: THE STORY OF A MURDERER - 2006. I rate this movie 9/10.
This movie sweet die! This movie was sick. It was one you just have to keep watching till the end. Even though the end surprised me but then it was still worth the watch. |

Babathanks: Is a lie o😂. Nigeria cannot survive without BDC o😂. It is me and u that would affect, it will never affect politicians and big business man. Ministry of foreign affairs cannot solve any shit cos in embassy for instance would only collect dollar cash from you. Do you knpw how many times I have tried to get dollar from bank?. I lost count already, it is BDC that always come to my rescue anytime I need it. Bank only gave the dollars to strong person in Nigeria and not average person. This rule is good but corruption would kill it Many haven't experienced this. Even to pay 200 dollars na bdc I dey go buy from. The fiat currency should vanish from Nigeria and only electronic should be allowed. The bank cards should be able to make dollar transactions on the spot and receive dollar transactions on the spot too at equal rates not discordant rates. I hope this is the direction we are heading. The fall of the Naira is devastating and the effect would last for some time unless something drastic happens. |

Elliotwaveforec: Dey play! You think the government doesn't have power over cryptos? All the crypto exchanges will soon be banned and you won't be able to access them online.
All the Abokis offline will soon be sent to jail for holding dollars in a country that has her own currency.
We're moving! We can't have two currencies in one country.
Naira is our currency and must be spent by all. ..they should unify the exhange rate which is what they are doing now. I hope it works. If usd in the bank is 1400, then on the crypto platform and aboki it should be 1405 max. And it should be available in the bank. Not bank 1350 you won't see to buy then aboki is selling 1700. Then I buy from aboki and you want me to sell to bank at a loss. No way. Honestly I don't care about this issue. They should just make it that if I want dollars I can get at the official rate both buying and selling. I don't care what it is but it should go both ways. |
Business › Re: Banks To Pay Customers Money Sent From Abroad In Naira by armadeo(m): 7:11pm On Feb 09, 2024 |
004gist: The same politicians will go to the banks and buy the dollars.
How many Nigerians can get access to dollar from the bank. They will frustrate the person with only option to aboki. If the government can service everyone that comes to the bank then no need to buy from aboki I remember the first time I wanted to make an international payment. I went to the bank to make the payment. I wanted to buy the dollars and transfer it via my dom account. They said they needed to see my visa and plane ticket. I explained I wasn't traveling but needed to pay the sum for a course. It think 500. That time that total money wasn't more than 160k sef. I was bounced. I was so confused, I called up a friend and he told me to go to the aboki in front of the bank. People I walked past and entered. I went to them, brought one back into the bank bought the dollars from him and paid it into my account for onwards transfer. The same guy who bounced me made the transfer for me. Just gave up on naija that day. |
Business › Re: Can't Send Dollars To Nigeria Any More by armadeo(m): 6:44pm On Feb 09, 2024 |
kowalsky: It's very simple the Nation is bleeding cos of the persons in power. It has absolutely nothing to do with dormiciliary accounts or loopholes around FX remittances. The current FX and preceeding FX capitulations are a symptom of the problem, not the cause of the problem.
Mass exposure to domiciliary accounts occured when restrictions were placed on Naira cards for international payments. Before then dorm accounts were not as popularised or even as useful, even when the Naira was historically bleeding value.
If the Government dares to be transparent about its fiscal policies, it would befuddle Nigerians how much Naira was printed between this time and the eve of the last elections.
What I'm saying is there's practically no way the Naira would shed value this crazily just on account of you and others saving your monies in USD. There is too much Naira in circulation, printed at will by crass nepotists at the helm of affairs and that's just one of the organic problem.
I'm sorry for being brash and uncultured with my earlier response. In most cases you're interacting with paid political trolls on Nairaland, been tuned to tune my response to something that resonates with them.
Now let's assume we want to fix this problem, again your approach is basically treating the symptoms instead of focusing on the organic disease. The reason there's a thriving black market for FX, ergo spiralling rates for USD, is because the current official FX market is illiquid. If you tighten your grasp on the black market, you'll only create increased demand cos the assets floating on the black market will be limited. With the assets available on the official market also scarce the end game is even more disproportionate loss in value for the Naira compared to the Dollar.
With these policies, the result will be even lower USD supply to Nigeria, again, this has been shown to be the historical natural history. because guess what you can't force people to convert their USD into a currency that's currently in a nose dive. People (at least the significant majority) will find ways to circumvent these policies to either secure their USD or get Max value for it at the expense of the Naira. People will still convert thier Naira assets into USD type assets - many avenues for this including crypto.
I'll go on a limb to say anything sort of burning this country to the ground and starting afresh so we don't have leaders whose sole interest is lining their pockets and who actually care about people; and a populace that's not so lukewarm and uneducated about how fvcked they are will still fall under the coffers of treating symptoms of a malignant disease.
To save the Naira. Nigeria needs a better fiscal policy. Fiscally responsible and intelligent leaders. An educated populace. A total overhaul of the economic system so the country can actually register a trade surplus for the first time in its modern life. . Well said. On a side note. It's been long I started a thread on nairaland and read it to the end. I enjoyed reading the points and counter points No adverts or beggars, the tribalist gave up by page 2. Serious people continued the discourse. This is how a thread should be sticking to the point and not being derailed. This is the nairaland of old Seun take note. |
