i dont have to be drawn into an arguement over the least poor people with you. it is either you are not living in 9ja or u just refuse to see. dont be deceived, poverty dots every nook and cranny of 9ja.

if the most well read people within the country are not bragging about being the least poor, i dont know ur criterion for coming to that conclusion, the next thing you will say is that you are industrious, then who is not? We can lay claims to Adenuga -------- do u know the numberof your kith and kin being provided employemnt by our illustrious and industrious son of Odua. North can lay claims to Dangote while the least poorpeople can lay claims to Chris Uba shey?

stop all this ur tribalistic sentiment, it puts u on the edge and on the defensive unnecessarily.A wrod is enough for the wise, the wise that wants to learn .

You are the one raving and ranting with all the capital letters and exclamation marks.Dangote,Adenuga and you put Chris Uba alongside them Aren't you trying to be funny If all the numerous igbo peeps who are enterpreneurs and it is Ubah you can think of ten swim in your ignorance. So because Dangote is hausa or fulani and Adenuga is yoruba automatically peeps from their ethnic groups are rich

Adenuga employs peeps from my ethnic group before will he employ someone that is not qualified?

My criterion Do youread nigerian news at all?

I should stop being tribalistc yet you are one making noise about some being slaves what can be more tribalistic than that

all the countires u listed before the new millenium. Darfur can only be given autonomy if they keep up playing a xtian region within a muslim country tromp card, in which Europe and US will back them for at the UN.

Ace is not a country.

Ho many countries recognise the sovereignty of Kosovo. be that as it may, they were greatly assisted by Europe and Kosovo.

Do u think Europe and US will rally behind ur Biafailed, HELL NO. Russian and China will not even dare coz they are tackling seperatist brothers of yours in their countries. The last Biafailed was recognised by Equitorial Guinea, maybe your new one will be recognised by Swaziland or better still the new countries u listed --- Ace, Darfur, Kosovo, Montenegro etc

Get it straight, seccessionist mentality is not welcomed in the modern world. You inflict more unnecessary pains on urself than good!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you still want to toll the destruction path and press the self destruction button, kindly go ahead , you will be greatly rewarded with another defeat. you will not stop being a 2nd class citizen of Nigeria that you guys used to call rself but u will now become a slave in ur own land,
The problem is despite being '2nd class' they are still by reports the least poor nigerians and i do not know if being a first clas citizen of nigeria these days is something to brag about

Moreover landownership in a corrupt Nigerian city such as Abuka is not a measure of success but rather a measure of how much the Igbos have benefitted from the slicing and dicing of the national cake by engaging themselves in corrupt dealings.

I hope Ruben Abati is listening.

Probably because nigerians have lost hope,do not really care about nigeria the nigeria for life,God bless nigeria, nigeria will be great mantra not withstanding or are not bothered as long as money is been made with or without consience for rich people.

Kobojunkie:

I don’t believe the question is on how to solve MEND, and I really do not think solving MEND is anyone’s problem except those in the Niger Delta. However, Bringing them to book on crimes committed on people is what we ought to be focused more on.

I for one will be more interested in bringing the likes of IBB,Obasanjo,Tony Anenih,Orji uzo kalu because to book because if you look more closely the action or in actions of one man it this list has led to more deaths of people that MEND times 5.

Kobojunkie:

Actually, I don’t think the man is as 2D as you think. If you really look at his suits as you claim to, you will realize he tries to put himself on the side of justice and in this case, it would include justice for those that have been harmed or crippled by the actions of MEND. These are people who would like justice be served them. They are not collateral like some like to make them to be in all this. These are people who do not have direct connections to the federal government that MEND claims to be after, even as it cripples people it claims to fight for.

Let me wait and see a lawyer that would do that.

I doubt what I have to say will matter to you considering it seems you do not seem to think any good can MAGICALLY happen in that country, and you seem equally unwilling to accept that you have a responsibility as a citizen ( a part to play) to move to cause change in anything pertaining to the running of the government.

I bet if Gani decided to file a suit against the government over it's handling of this problem, tomorrow, a lot of Nigerians would say they are in support of what he is doing but not many will actually stand with him to make sure he succeeds.

What magic like 'God dey','God will provide' or nigerians will magically become good overnight and start loving and caring for each other

i may be a citizen of nigeria like other 'citizens' but i will be be more interested in solving the 'cause of the effect' rather than 'effect of the cause' of the situation we find ourselves in 'our country'

If you know Gani's antecedent you will know that he rather files a suit against government for not listening to the reason these guys are doing what they are doing rather than suing government for 'not bringing MEND to justice'

Who is going to go the justice to bring down MEND?Is is the same leaders that are more interested in protecting their cash flow from illegal activities in oil and gas which prompted them to grant amnesty, releasing Okah whom govt agreed was a 'terrorist' and also proposed some kind of salary to assuage the minds of MEND?

MEND might be a criminal organisation or freedom fighters but i will not mind if they can cripple the oil economy and flow in that country learning from u so as to know the true feelings of nigerians to themselves instead of masquareding in this petronationalism that is confusing that country

We choose our battleand we count our cost before settling for a showdown but once our mind is made we are ready for anything. Ask the northerners after the June 12 debacle. They know what is it to bring the country to a halt without kidnapping and killing innocent people.

SOLUTION TO ND ISAND STILL REMAINS---------MEND SHOULD KEEP CALLING FOR A GENUINE SOVEREINGN NATIONAL CONFERENCE IN WHICH ALL THIS ISSUES THEY ARE RAISING WILL BE SORTED OUT ONCE AFTER ALL. ALL THAT ETHNIC GROUPS WILL DEFINATELY JOIN THEM IN THIS AND WE CAN RESOLVE OUR DIFFERENCES ON THE TABLE ONCE AND FOR ALL. OIL STEALING, KIDNAPPING,KILLING AND MAIMING OF INNOCENT SOULS IS A CRIMINAL ACT THAT WILL NEVER HAVE THE BACKING OF PEOPLE IN THEIR RIGHT SENSES. THEY SHOULD ALSO MAKE THEIR LEADERS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE.HOW DO U EXPLAIN WHEN ALAMS RETURNED FROM UK AND ALL THE CITIZENS OF BAYELSA WERE DANCING MACABRE DANCE ON THE STREET TO WELCOME A THIEF, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO IBORI AND ODILI? THESE ARE QUESTIONS THAT MEND NEEDS TO ANSWE TO BE ABLE TO JUSTIFY THEIR CRIMINAL ACTS.

Dude, we do not share the same views on this at all. Nations have a right to defend themselves, and that is why the US sanctions these sometimes, but when a “group of people” decide to take the law into their hands, they are labeled terrorists for a reason. Sorry, that you feel to lump the US in to the whole tells me exactly what card you are trying to play here and believe you me, I have argued many a people who have tried to come up with that ridiculous card as being a valid one to play. When a sovereign nation feels threatened, it is different from when a group of people who are within the boundaries of any nation decide to take the law into their hands.

Gaddafi, Sad am and those on your rest were not, I repeat where not acting in the good of their nation and even they will likely admit that to you. Only recently you heard Iran announce it would deal ruthlessly with any persons who oppose the elections. Many have been killed as a result. You sure killing your own citizens is in the good of your citizens in that way? MEND is not even acting in the good of the people if the Delta considering it, MEND, has profited from all the chaos while the people have been reduced to living in fear by their actions. They have gone on to kidnap, kill and destroy the people’s property. They have now move on to attack people in other states. MEND has seriously crossed the line and as citizens they need to be brought to justice by our justice system, not rewarded as the federal government has chosen to do.

1. Then Awolowo is wrong to have renegaded on an agreement, nevertheless that still does not wish away what happened in 1966.

2. Then you would be justified in making your statment assuming off course your were actually backstab in Omu Ekiti and u did not only add such statements for the melodramatic effects of it.I have not come here telling you Yorubas are saint, all i have mentioned to you is the following:

- Igbos bleeped up big time in 1966 and Biafra.
- Igbos brought their predicament on themselves.
- Igbos are about to repeat the same mistakes all over again if igbo comments on nairaland are anything to go by.

And i guess ur saying that you chose to stay with igbos even though you could have done otherwise was not for melodramatic effects  undecided

When you talking about 'igbo predicament' unless you are talking about being in power circle of chopping money otherwise i do not see what the 'igbo predicament' is since they by reports are classified as the least poor nigerians.

Nigerians should be much more worried about MEND than igbos judging from what is happening now.

Yorubas also bleeped up in 1993 when they(since they insisted that it was injustice against them) to make sure that Abiola who won a free and fair election did not mount on the saddle as some prominent yorubas (shonekan) worked against him.

Yes Yorubas have criminals amongst them.
Yes Hausas have criminals amongst them.
Yes Igbos have criminals amongst them.

However i am sorry to say this but its an open secret that in terms of proportionality both within and outside Nigeria and based on my own experience of Igbo culture, it is easy for you and I to understand that Igbos more susceptible to have the character of the end justifying the means and are thus more easily found in cases that are either fraudulent or criminal in nature.

Also in as much as it pains me to say it, Hausas tend to have the least number of criminals amongst the ethinic groups in nigeria, hence why u hardly find them on the news as a result of such cases of criminality.

You need to understand my point that this is not a case of Igbo bashing on my part, this is more of interpreting and revealing the data as provided by 1966 coup.
?
And if i say that with my experience of yoruba culture having spent sometime in Omu in Ekiti state that yorubas are backstabbers and treacherous what will you say also using Awolowo action for reneging his agrement with Ojukwu?

I tut people of Niger Delta were responsible for 90%.

Christianity is not a numbers game, even though i would admit and come Igbos for having little or no islamic terrorist amongst their midst.

You made this statement before and i ignored it.You are repeating it again. If it is a case "means justifying the end' with igbos i wonder why the racket tha was bursted in new york recently has a dispropotionate no of yorubas in it to th extent that a title "yoruba gang busted?" exists in nigeriavillagesquare .com.

The European are so not sentimental to the extent that the difference between the Language of Checks and Slovak which are both Slavic languages and intelligible, in African context, are mere dialectical difference which to them is sufficient enough to part ways. - They caused most of the other tribes to completely distrust them based on the past and present antecdents. . .3
- They cause Yorubas not to trust them based on how they have treated Yorubas in the past. . .2

CULLED FROM "THE NATION" NEWSPAPER JULY 18TH 2009

Enough is enough, Ijaw leaders warn Niger Delta militants
LEADERS of the oil-producing communities in Izon (Ijaw) Nation of the Niger Delta yesterday threatened to mobilise against the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) if it continued with its wanton destruction of oil facilities in and outside the region.

The group, under the auspices of Izon-Ebe Oil-Producing Communities Forum (IOPCF), particularly condemned Sunday night’s attack on the Atlas Cove Jetty in Lagos, by MEND, describing the action as the height of the group's excesses.

It called on the Federal Government and security agencies to unmask those responsible for the attack, which led to the death of seven persons, and ensure that the criminals faced the full wrath of the law. It stressed that genuine agitations must be separated from criminality.
"IOPCF said the activities of MEND and its utterances in recent times showed that the group had derailed from the struggle for the development of the region, saying that the group’s operations now portend more dangers to the oil communities.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I pity Sri Lanka. They have just postponed their problem 40 years ahead! There is this curse that follows "victors" of these tribal wars. The victors will try to shape the future like they did in Nigeria -based on their whims, the losers can go to hell! It would take great leadership to actually put that Sri Lankan war to an end by addressing the "real reasons" that started the war. Make the Tamils feel that they are secure and assured of a bright future in Sri Lanka. Integrate them by embracing them, not by trying to enslave them. Grant them autonomy (complete with local administration and flag). Otherwise, I predict now ( after Nigeria's experience) the Sri Lankan nation is sitting on a keg. Tribal based wars are hard to win.
Again, whoever fought on the right side of that war (believe me the Sri Lankans know -never mind the propaganda -someone was right and someone wrong) will eventually emerge victorious even after centuries!
The US civil war was won by those who fought on the right side of justice. Even at that, the losers in the South still kept almost everything they fought for, except slavery. That is why the US is a strong and stable nation. Great nations like the US are products of great (awesome) leadership.
Third world countries like Nigeria are controlled by the type of minds on this forum - those who blame the victim for daring to complain!
Is there any wonder why Nigeria is facing exactly the same war in 2009? And while we are at it, the nation is steadily moving backwards!
Quite unfortunate and depressing indeed!

U dey mind nigerians?Instead of trying to solve what is leading to all these agitations they are more interested in strangulating it.
As for tamil tiger rebels unless the sri lankan govt deals with what lead to agitations in the first place, years from now another crises would brew there.
