Maybe not up to federal universities but more than a lot of Nigerian state universities the person meant having a public university where the students stays among the villages renting flats and hostels a la polynek, futo style contribution of funds cycling the areas surrounding university through printing and the likes not your description here..he is looking at it strictly through the Nigerian pattern of how areas surrounding public universities benefit from students patronage |

Yampotatocarrot: Mehn, I'm shocked with that I'm seeing. Did you see where he wrote the North send their Almajiris down to the east, infact all of them, that we'll take care of them?
Even Northern states are trying to send them back cos of their propensity for violence and someone is saying we accept them all in. Na so European countries take do big brother accept refugees who even Muslim countries didn't accept, and the refugees are now causing trouble for them.
Abeg, let's not be too wise in our own conceits there is a reason I stopped the discussion |

Its in our interest to ally with the north we have a lot of things in common than the other south. we have already done that on 2 occasions and it didnt really end well..funny also that other 2 south regions also feel it is in their interest to ally with the north..well all is just funny |

Coldie: There are things that only Igbo president can solve. Right now with the fact that the present rail line from warri to itakpe in kogi state.
Since it goes from warri seaport, as Igbo president our work is to have a rail line moving from that agbor section to Onitsha.
Imagine having a rail that moves from warri seaport directly to onitsha. It will change a lot. no gurauntee an igbo president would do all these you have written unless that igbo person has shown that he really cares or cared about economic issues affecting igbos before now..secondly different individuals should work on developing their regions because it is obvious the country is now broke |

Coldie: Do u know that if there was to ever be regionalism or any form of restructuring u can kiss our dream to have a route to the sea goodbye.
I have settle down to solve the problem of Anambra port.
Its full blown engineering, that will cost billions of dollars, we will do it by MUST, if the north can use Billion's to look for oil In the north we will use billions to fund that engineering project.
Another port has to be built, the Niger bridges are a hindrance to the functionality of the ports.
The river Niger into many rivers that forms the Delta. We would require full blown damming of a lot of them to make a major river that will head to the sea.
Its like a canal system.
No Biafran president can ever do this cause that will be another country's territory, but under Nigeria, a President can you cant build that onitsha port without the cooperation of ijaws whose tributaries the passage of dredging will pass their lands |
Politics › Re: Few Pics From Imo State by asha80(m): 2:26pm On Jun 19, 2020 |
Coldie: I just discovered that if there was to restructuring it won't benefit us in anyway. It will only benefit the west and the south south. With the way these two regions have been acting it seems to be all man to himself, so I think we should be laying down our own plans.
If we push for an extra state, it cabr be created from the east cause our quota is complete.
We had 2regions then 3 then 4 and it went on.
Right now in the south in state creation the former eastern region has more States than the former western region.
East has 9 while the west has 8, do the math on what will happen in the next state creation.
Unless they create anioma state and zone it to the SE, we have nothing to gain from restructuring. so in essence you are in support of the present top to down command system we are running? |

Yampotatocarrot: We definitely have smart people on this thread, Kudos bro.
We have so demonized agriculture... That's a fact
We have a lot of value orientation going on among youths in South West... Another fact.
Look at what young people in southwest are doing in Agriculture, you'll marvel. Nobody should tell me it's because of the market, because I know people eat in EVERY PART OF THE COUNTRY.
Yet, go to relief market Owerri, and you'll find out our people rely on food crops all the way from the north, EVEN VEGETABLES. In all my study and even farm groups I am a member of, I haven't seen any tomato farm situated in the east among other things. Even most vegetable farming in the east occurs during the rainy season, once the rains subside, we go back to depending on truckload of vegetables from the North
Thank God our people are going into poultry business now, but we really need more. that they are going into poultry is a sign in the positive direction |

Yampotatocarrot: This was exactly the discussion I had with someone last time I went home. Any small space, one guy is using it to build a mansion. 20 years is too much for your prediction o, in about 10 years time, areas in Mbaise down towards Umuahia will definitely have scarcity of lands. I hope this "madness" doesn't spread to Okigwe, because it seems they are the only ones that still have reasonable amount of lands. okigwe and environs arent really densely populated so it will take a long while to get to okigwe |
