Akshow: A sensible Igbo friend posted this on Facebook about Ngige and I think it answers the op aptly
One of the closest Igbo man to the President Elect is Dr Chris Ngige Onwa, a Senator who was defeated in the Senatorial Election. See how bad Igbos are at strategizing? They couldn't override a pathological hatred for General Buhari to make a hedge bet and return this man to the Senate, to enhance his chances at Senate President, incase General Buhari wins, which he did. Instead folks played tribal and religious politics to the tilt as drunken sailors, and failed the man and the chance to make history as Senate President. That's what happens when emotions trips common sense and folks succumb to hustlers like Peter Obi and Arthur Eze, scoundrels after their own interests instead of the masses. I urged caution, I pleaded that we were making a huge mistake to hitch our wagon on Jonathan who wasn't going to win. And predictably he lost, so also our chance in the new administration. I hate to gloat. But maybe, maybe, only maybe he gets a good ministerial appointment, but nothing beats being Senate President. Igbos are very bad at politics. And sadly it won't stop until we learn to coexist with others instead of our 'better than thou' attitude when dealing with the Hausas and Yorubas. We are not better than anyone, these folks we thumb our noses at, are God's creatures like us. We don't like the Hausas and we don't like the Yorubas, yet we populate their States in search for our livelihood. Our politics should mirror our economic aspirations, not the other way around. How long can this collective amnesia insulate us from meaningfully seating at the table, making contributions to Nigeria's political evolution? How long can this foolishness go on? How long? There is a miserable silence across the land today, because we are realizing that we were sold off for pennies by pimps who parade as Igbo leaders. Where are they? Anyone home? what was ngige's performance in senate?vip toilets as he admitted?why vote someone who is dormant in senate? |

QuotaSystem: Oh, I thought the plan was obvious,
with the rapid plummeting of crude oil prices which is not likely to abate anytime soon, the strategy is to use the remnants of our present mainstay to diversify the economy into large scale industrial agriculture, mining, steel, metals, and human capital exploitation. We will witness a return of the groundnut pyramids, tanneries, factories and mills of the North as well as the plantations, enhanced ports, private sector industries and factories in the SW. The oil though still under our control and domination, would serve as a secondary income source for the Nation.
Thanks btw. these are just mere fantasies of hope rather than the present realistic hopes |
Politics › Re: Why Igbos Voted Jonathan - The Hypocrisy by asha80(m): 11:37pm On Mar 31, 2015 |
Onegai: Quick question:
In 2011, the entire SW and North Central (Taraba and Plateau and co) overwhelmingly voted for GEJ. In 2015, the same regions gave their votes to Buhari.
So why are you people now calling them tribalistic?
And yeah, us SS people don't align ourselves with Igbo politics. Some of it is tribal but a lot of the animosity stems from the fact you guys are constantly claiming us "our brothers and our cousins" and there is a lot of dominancy to that claim. It makes us uncomfortable (an example of that is when Igbos meet me and expect me to speak Igbo, when I tell them I'm not, they brush it aside and tell me "you are as good as Igbo" as if my identity and culture don't matter. I don't care how similar you think we are, please respect that difference. I don't call everything above the Niger Hausa-Fulani, why should you call SS your kinsman without them welcoming it? ) An Urhobo man won a seat in Lagos, yet all I'm hearing is "Igbos are growing their clout in Lagos", because apparently his tribal identity is now Igbo (btw I'm from his constituency, he was winning Yoruba votes and not Igbo).
My mum queued up for hours to vote GEJ. If it had been an Igbo candidate, she would have realised her back would hurt from all that standing, there would probably be violence at the poll and used quite a lot of excuses to stay at home. Same thing with my relatives and a lot of SS voters.
You constantly lament about being victims of tribalism yet are tribalistic. GEJ got his largest number of votes from SS states and everyone there feels Igbos let him down by not turning out massively to support him. Because they (and i) kept hearing from so many Igbos "GEJ is our man" and no other reason backed it up save misplaced tribal sentiment.
I'm not starting a war, just being truthful. the person that made that 'igbos are growing their clout in lagos' is actually a Hausa guy with the monker nduchucks..if have been in nairaland long enough and engaged him you will know....if they ss feel igbos let down Jonathan because the turn out for presidential election was not much despite him getting the majority of votes then they ss should have canvased for more support from other zones. |

T Zonacom: From the look of things, Buhari might be declared winner. If that happens, then the southeast would probably go back to the days of serious marginalisation. Its evident that the southeast voted for Gej morethan every other zone. An APC govt at the centre would probably punish us for that. Anambra is likely going to be the greatest casualty. The oil wells at Aguleri is likely going to Kogi state. why do you think so?is he not supposed to be the president of the whole country? |

They all voted against the man; results called at individual pooling units showed he lost each and every pooling unit only for INEC to collate them all and announce something else. I just wish that the apga candidate has evidences of these victories so that he can go to go to court to get back his mandate because this rigging seems obvious |

Tvegas: ABIANS are the architect of their own problems by allowing APGA to adopt GEJ openly as its flagbearers. Sentiments favored GEJ so most people who voted GEJ also voted PDP in other positions. They didnt learn from the mistakes AD made in the southwest in the past by openly embracing OBJ. I know Ochendo isnt popular though but at this rate its not even sure for Alex Otti. you do know what you are saying...they did not vote for orji in senate..there was no confusion on not voting for ochendo for senate as they were more geared up to stop ochendo than voting gej |

Apga is taking more Legislative sits in the East and at least 2 state Governorship seats- Anambra and Abia. These are #Surebankers. It would been would been 3states by now if mallam Rochas didn't run with our mandate in Imo.
These APC monkeys do not even know who APC governorship candidate in Abia is yet they want us to vote him/her because he/she is in APC.
Igbo vote personalities not inanimate objects like Brooms ask Philantropist Rochas about 2011. Yorubas and hausas find themselves easy to brainwash to vote brooms and packers without even knowing the candidates history because they are the least exposed and educated in the North and South- Herd mentality. we should focus on abia..have you seen what I was telling collynzo? |

MaziOmenuko: Umuahia. Aba is not in Abia Central senatorial zone, which is the flash point of the protest as people voted against the governor but he is already rigging for himself and GEJ, padding up the votes.
Soon, you will hear that INEC office in Umuahia has been burnt down just like Benue. I thought inec has already announced ta orji winner? I hope they burn inec office down in umuahia..if abia loses this chance of freeing themselves from this bondage then no hope ever for abia...a state that was touted to develop more than present Imo when the two were split |

MaziOmenuko: One thing is sure: SE and SS results are presently being manipulated to show 99% turnout. This is a far-cry from the credible elections we were promised. Abians has trooped to the streets to protest this purported show of shame. This is why PDP are waning that peeps should ignore results on the social media; they want to doctor the entire result and publish straight from INEC offices.
We are watching in 3-D. are they protesting in umuahia and in aba? |
