Dr Ikpeazu has understudied the city better than what Otti can imagine. However, he can't raise the funds needed to carry out his visions. It's not about enthocentrism.

All I need is restoration of our ancient city, the centre of Eastern Nigeria and the home for all to its lost glory and my happiness will have no bound.

You are O'yes follower but I ask how politicians intend implementing their promises and this also led me to Uche Ogbuagu who confirmed that lots of money come to IMO State for capital projects through these grants though Rocha don't account for them in full.

I believed him because he promise to create a separate ministry dedicated to restoration of ABA and channeling these grants to it including a huge annual budgetary provisions.
wonder why you are labelling me oyes follower when I had never hidden my preference for otti right from get go and and had arguments with you on why I believe so..you were the one that tried to inject clannish tendencies into the arguments..as for having ministry of aba and grants I have known that since December last yr when he first released his manifesto and you would have known that far back if you had earlier opened your mind....as for Uche ogbuagu Imo and rochas u have always said it that rochas is a great politician but has question marks when it comes to administration

The amount of money needed to restore Aba to it's past glory is beyond what Abia State can afford.

Alex Otti told me there are grants from Europe, Us and international bodies ready to be offered to Africa and certain selected States in Nigeria.

The question is who can benefit and draw from these free reserves He asked? It's only leaders with un-dented credibility.

He also promised to create the Ministry of ABA to channel these funds to boost the money available for capital projects in ABA.

I have now done my calculations, and I believe voting Ikpeazu may deprive Abia State about 50 billion naira annual grant for restoration of my beloved city.

Lastly, for the love of APGA.
hmmm ngwakwe this your turn around Na Wao....it is not as if these things otti said were said recently..well we all want the best for aba because of the importance of that city and the deterioration it has undergone in recent times...by the the way you said otti told me?

What a lot of Igbos don't realize is that Buhari is on a mission to Islamize Nigeria and is being cheered on ignorantly by yorubas, the same Yorubas that were used as shields to wedge bullets during the civil war.

Should Buhari start another mayhem after the election Imolites need a strongman (Capt. Iheanacho) with military knowledge to counter them not someone who will surrender cheerfully.

I really don't see the sense in discrediting Dr Ikpeazu on account of T A Orji's maladministration and shortcomings.

I have listened to Ikpeazu speak. I was impressed with his grasp on issues. He will make a capable governor.

Dr Ikpeazu comes from the academia. He was said to have bagged a PHD at the age of 27. He has also lectured in several universities in Nigeria.

The last time Abia had a semblance of responsible governor was in the Old Abia under Ogbonnaya Onu so who knows what Dr Ikpeazu can do.

Granted that Alex Otti has some level of popularity. But he is also a sort coming to reap where he did not sow. Abia politicians consider him something of a rookie/new entrant who should pay his dues before making the ascent to the governorship. Many also view him as a supplanter that wants to deviously covet the governorship slot zone to the Ukwa Ngwa axis. His relocating to Ngwaland hardly hid the fact that he is from Arochukwu.
your last paragraph is one of the problems we have in this country...what do you mean by paying dues and reaping where he did not sow?others that have 'reaped and sown' and got to power in abia how have they left abia?if you do not believe abia needs a radical change from the nonsense state it is now then you do not know the potential of that state...in the end it is the electorates that have to decide and not politicians .

It is a very long story, if we are to really do justice to it.
To be honest, reading a few books, from different angles (as each author will be a bit biased, one way or another) and then sifting the truth and summarising, will give you a better perspective of that war.

But trust me, it started from perceived injustice by the Igbos, (since the british handed over the country to the Northerners, who were not wise enough to understand that "Fairness and Justice" are required to prosper a nation)... which made them think, WRONGLY THOUGH, that the solution is to wipe-out the Norther political hegemony from the nation (Igbo-Ironsi First Nigerian Military Coup!), what followed was a short period of Igbo domination of the nation in all spheres, Civil Service, Military, Political, e.t.c
This opened the eye of the Northerner to the use of military for coups!

The Northerners retaliated in a counter-coup and also tried to wipe-out Igbo Political/military leaders.
They did not stop there as there was "deep-sited" animosity for Igbos, resulting from the first coup (Recall that Northerners have far less educated leaders amongst them, compared to the other Ethnics in Nigeria, killing them off in one fell sweep was really a game changer!).
They also murdered Igbo-Civilians in the North, just like happened recently.

Based on the above, Ojukwu felt the best option was to pull out of Nigeria and form Baifra but the devil is in the details, .....bearing in mind that crude Oil has just started selling in commercial Quantities at Oloibiri and Ojukwu felt, Biafra will own all the oil receipts, not minding that is was in the south-South (Though he "forcefully conquered" this region ...current Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Edo, Cross River and Akwa Ibom as the was progressed).
Ojukwu knew the federal govt will never allow him to annex the Crude Oil meant for the whole country, to his own Biafra alone (even that thought alone is a reflection of the greed of the Igbos!) but Ojukwu's calculation was that the Northerners who are his principal enemies, acnnot fight wars on TWO FRONTS.

So, he sought to incite the Yorubas to secede as well.
Now, the Yorubas were also having a rough deal from the Northern dominated military Govt but secession was a whole new game.
You need preparation, strategic arms storage and supply, friends in the international community, arms supply guarantee, food security, e.t.c.

The Yorubas knew they were not "ready" for a war, based on the indices l mentioned above..... and told Ojukwu so.
Ojukwu, out of self belief and probably with an eye on the "Prize" (oil) still went ahead to declare the war.

His calculation was that he could force the Yorubas into a "suicidal secession" (at that point in time) by bombing the South West!...which he did repeatedly, conquering as far as Oore town in Ondo State.... with Yorubas just warning his to desist.

The rest is history.

I will still urge you to read books on the War, from all sides of the divide (Igbos, Hausas, Yorubas) to get an all-round perspective of the war, its origins, the intrigues and how it ended.

Lastpage!
dishonesty with facts can be extremely dangerous...i know you have one or two things against igbos from the way you write but never twist facts to suit your mindset..

First there was nothin like south south then as what existed then around where eastern, western, midwestern and northern regions.

Delta and Edo were part of the Midwestern region and not part of the then eastern region that made up the defunct Biafra.
PoliticsRe: Throwback: Sir Ahmadu Bello's Burnt House In Kaduna,1966 Where He Died by asha80(m): 11:20am On Mar 19, 2015
lastpage:
Having read ALL the comments before making my own post, a few things stick out glaringly!

1.) As usual, "most" Igbos are showing that if given the opportunity, they will "genocidically erase" all Northerners from Nigeria, their hate for the Northerner is probably worse than the hate they have for Yorubas..... but then, who does the Igbos dont hate?

2.) Most Igbos are very pretentious and like to act like the Ostrich which buries its head. Every single post made by an Igbo... was focused on blaming Ahmadu Bello, the man their kin murdered.
They blame him for building an expensive house when in fact, that house was just an "ordinary storey building".... common among the middle class of those days. My own Grand Dad, a local Doctor/Physician, owned one in our village since the 1940's! You dont have to loot to build that sort of house, in the 50's and 60's. What they do back then is have a "viable business" which brings in money.

3.) Not in one single Post did you see an IGBO person "admit that the "Igbo Coup", which installed an Igbo head of state, by the name Aguiyi Ironsi, was an ETHNIC CLEANSING which murdered EVERY PROMINENT HAUSA in Government and REPLACED THEM WITH IGBO PEOPLE..... and it marked the beginning of the "tribal war" which we are still plunged into, till today!

4.) Not one single post by an Igbo son would admit that that "terrible act of ethnic cleansing" by IGBO SOLDIERS in the Nigerian military, led to a "reprisal Coup" of Northern Soldiers, which in return killed the Igbo head of State, Aguiyi Ironsi...... and eventually led to the Biafran Civil War which decimated the Igbo population.

The problem with most Igbo nowadays is that their young ones dont READ their HISTORY (they would rather hop on a luxurious to Lagos, to come and Hawk!) but only listen to the "word of mouth" from their old folks, who are too ashamed to TELL THEM THE TRUTH, about the initial mistakes they made ....and how it led to their lot in the Nigerian Nation.
Instead, what they tell them is what perpetrates "Ethnic Hatred" further.

Bottom line:
Igbos initiated these spectre of mindless killing and bloody Coups in Nigeria. End of story!

I make bold to say that "the next Presidential election on March 28 is a do or die" affair for President Jonathan... and even more so, the entire IGBOS!
The same "winner-takes-all" ......and "losers-get-buried" attitude and actions they took back then in the early to mid 60's, is EXACTLY what they are doing now whereby "IF" the result does not go their way, then they have no "fall-back and no where else to run to" .... EXCEPT RESULT TO ANOTHER BRAINLESS WAR OF SEPARATION WITH PREDICTABLE RESULT!

Ndigbo as a people and nation, must undergo a paradigm shift in their moral value of "Money is God" and everything is about "short-term gains".

Lets us discuss issues, real issues and not this pettiness that lacks substance.
