The river cruisers are so called "Flat Bottom" ships. They are typically designed for shallow water. They are not same design as big ship ocean liners which are designed for deep waters with waves.
Before the Niger bridge was built, such river ships were used to cross cars from Onitsha to Asaba. They still use such ships today to cross cars across the River Niger between Idah and Agenebode in Edo state.

Please don't start the dredging excuse, because our leaders will soon latch on that to deceive our people. We just have the least visionary leaders in Africa. All they can think about is how to get a white man to drill a hole in the ground and start pumping out oil and selling. Then they sit back and start spending big money like crazy.

Nigeria is so blessed that every state can actually use locally available resources to build itself up. But everyone wants oil or nothing!

Yes you were born there but with the level of unwholesome activities in that town I cannot consider it sane. It is equally not a suitable place to raise a family, that is why you hardly hear people moving to Owerre. These are some of the reasons its economy is stagnated.

Two things Imo state must work towards is setting up a refinery and other petrochemical factories using our oil and gas resources in Imo state to create a local oil services economy in Owerri
2. Developing the Oguta lake tourism potential.
We could start with offering River cruises for tourists in the comfort of a cruise ship from Oguta lake to Onitsha and back to Oguta lake resort hotel.

until river niger is thoroughly dredged your second point would be a pipe dream.

I know one thing Buhari did for Igbo while in charge of PTF. Buhari brought Dora Akunyili(later the incorruptible NAFDAC czar)to limelight. Buhari made Dora Akunyili the SE Coordinator of PTF. I'm pretty sure she did a great job. She was then recommended for the NAFDAC job because of the impact she had with PTF.


Buhari did a lot for Ndi Igbo. Your enemies are in Igbo land as espoused by Obiano above.

Nnewi and Onitsha have more economic activities than Owerri. I can even say that Orlu may have more economic activities than Owerri.
But Owerri has the best inner city road network than all these cities.

You never know what you're getting with these politicians till they get a whiff of that power. It doesn't matter what political party they're affiliated with, one that is keen to perform would do so, and the kleptomaniac would still do what he does best. TA Orji went from PPA to APGA and then to PDP without missing a beat in his nefarious activities. If you like dump him in APC. . .well, u get the point.
I've been conned in the past by people whom I presumed their impressive academic profiles and success in business would transition well to government, only to watch them falter like the rest . Yes, Alex Otti has done well for himself as the CEO of Diamond bank but that's no guarantee that he'll make a good governor. Nothing against the fellow, but I'll be more convinced by an extensive record in community service than a nice banking résumé. I'll love to see a visionary at the helm of affairs in Abia, but I won't sit here and pretend like I know what I'm getting from any of these people in the race.
Besides, its no secret that its time for the Ngwa to produce the governor in Abia state. Alex Otti furtively tried to pass as an Ngwa man, since he grew up in Isiala Ngwa, but was duly rebuffed. It wouldn't have helped him anyway since PDP had zoned it to Abia South senatorial zone, which does not include Isiala Ngwa and Osisioma Ngwa parts of Ngwaland. While some would be quick to suggest that zoning is not worthwhile, I insist that it is absolutely necessary to ensure equity when there's a clear departure from fair play, and one group has evidently developed a sense of entitlement. If Ndi Ngwa hadn't been so thoroughly and systematically maligned since the inception of the state, maybe they wouldn't be desperately seeking the governorship to gain a sense of belonging in the state. In states where there isn't much emphasis on zoning, there's usually a conscientious effort to ensure that everyone is carried along and has a voice, no matter where the governor hails from. This just hasn't been the case in Abia.

I hope with all you wrote that abians would not be disturbing us when the next administration comes on board about bad governance.

otti is the person I support because I have gone through his profile and he fits the bill..dont know about being a fraud but him being a ceo of diamond bank for three yrs and lifting the bank from 15th to 5th place in that period is no mean fit...my fear with him though was about his grassroot appeal especially in rural areas as I know that ogah is more popular..but with t a orji hell bent on foisting ikpeazu them ogah's chance is bleak

Nna i feel you but to be candid, Anambra is becoming too urbanized, that village setting we experienced as kids is no longer there. Imagine staying in Europe, Americas, Asia etc or Abuja, Lagos etc and coming home for Xmas and it's the same city chaos. My town, Nibo, Awka south LGA is not an exception, do you know you're more likely to meet a non-native than a native there? My family house in Nibo has tenants, all non-natives. Awka is worse, you tend to hear pidgin and English these days instead of Igbo.

Although I don't have the pictures now, but will try to get some of them!.There is One Big University that is still under construction at Alam Ozubulu by One Church Organisation!. May & Baker is coming to Ozubulu industrial site!.

Pls and pls, don't ever compare Anambra with Abia because Abia surpasses Anambra in all ramifications, T.A. Orji is far better than Obi in city beautification, rural roads, education, healthcare, youth empowerment and commerce. I can't speak of industry because TA Orji did attract any new industry to Abia state while Obi brought the HERO lager beer.
While people may believe Obi to be saint is because you always defend your own even when he's leading you to hell just because of the extreme love you have for your state. While reverse is always the case for Abians and Imolites who criticise their govs even when they are working.
Guy, apart from Ngige and Obiano, Anambra has never produce a gov., I'm even looking at Obiano with 1 eye close because most of his works are billboards.
Advise okijaAmaka to stop uploading pix here cos all he/she has been uploading are slums, old buildings which are bringing shame 2 ndi Igbo. Anambra generally is a run and I'm praying that God will help us and rescue just 1 city from that state.
My Advice, stop defending and praising your Govs, that thing they are lavishing is not theirs but your money. Criticise them so that they will work for you, I know you love your state more than the future of your children but try for the security of your children future.

on a more serious note though I doubt you are from abia.
