kettykin thanx for that article.it butresses what i have been trying to say.look let us forget ethnic and regional setiments.the better these 'federal' projects are spread round the country the better for places like lagos and abuja. kettykin: The Federal Government should urgently Complete the Deep sea port in Akwa Ibom , If Obasanjo had allowed the dredging of the Calabar Port or even embarked on the Ibaka Sea port or even dredged Onne Port in Rivers State or even dredged the Warri Port in Delta state all these would not have happened . I remember how a certain Minister and jounalist from the SW frustrated the conversion of the Enugu Airport intp an International Airport. |
bittyend: Lagos is dead and buried, tell your folks to go back home, and stop migrating there in their millions. Lagos has to be the fastest growing city in the world. The population went from 5million to 15million within 10 years, that's too much.this is mere wish until traffic is diverted away from lagos.i am sure in the next 10 years abuja would be reeling form the same onslaught. |
Crayola1: To be honest I see this more as an excuse than a valid point.is the niger bridge in anambra alone?what about delta state?what if delta state is not interested?going by your logic why don't edo and ondo rehabilitate sagamu-benin-ore expressway since the bad parts of the road are in those state? |
Crayola1: To be honest I see this more as an excuse than a valid point.one question for you?can you tell me of one state in the country now where people are flooding into now as was(and still) the case of lagos or as in the case of abuja? look we are running a rent economy with the centre dictating the pace and direction of development.let us tell ourselves the truth.the structure is faulty.most states have what is takes to drive development in it territoy but the system we are running now is faulty.why can't enugu tap its coal or ondo tap its bitument?what made people to rush to jos and to some extent enugu in the 40s,50s and 60s? |
dayokanu: Theres also an International airport in Enugu So you can enjoy the facility thereyawn |
bittyend: Infrastructural development in Lagos?no need for the insult.if you use your brain you would know that the main reason lagos has become a shithole as you admitted is because the infrastructure laid i lagos cannot be found anywhere in the country hence the mad rush to the state.maybe you should visit abuja and see that the place is turning into another lagos. |
Crayola1: Can't some things be done without the government, surely if you are waiting on deliverance from Abuja you have pretty much made your grave.ermm... the lagos sea ports, international airport, were not state projects.if you know the traffic those sea ports attracts then you will appreciate what i am saying.also there is a reason people are flooding abuja as we speak. |
bittyend: Who cares about who gets deported? The whole place stinks!well maybe it is time 'traffic' is 'diverted' away from lagos right?Fg should focus infrastructural development to other places right? |
acidosis™:of course thei lives depends on hajj ![]() |
bittyend: For fvck sake, why just six buses? The damn state needs to rid the place off the nuisance of snarl-up population density. If you don't own anything in Lagos, or are not from there, you have no business being there in the first place.you would be suprised at the people going to be deported from lagos if your position is taken. |
billante: Fantastic!!are you easily carried away? |
guy no be today. |
PStylish:more yawn. |
PStylish: Sharrap. No one is claiming Lagos.yawn |
size38: Every region in naija wants more state because there is oil money at d center to be shared monthly. If nigeria adopts true federalism, over night, dat agitation will disappearkpakam! |
so what will happen to barcelonafc? |
sheyguy: ha ha ha ha . . . . Do u av any problem with my post?i have problem with trolls |
sheyguy: Ndu_Chuks is no confused man . . . He does not dispute the fact that the trend he pointed out in his Original Post could be present in the Northern or Western Leadership cycle. . . He is only interested in identifying with the East for reasons best known to him . . . His attacker on this thread should see beyond blind ethnic interest and give the thread the direction and seriousness it deserves.look who is talking. |
elari: . . . Who the f is dis calling a confirmed news hopeless lies. Gawdammit! D situation is worse, propelled by a leakage 4rm a cameroun dam. The popular benue links park is submerged in water, wadata area is flooded. Hippos, crocs, and different species of fishes everywhere. |
i wonder if this flood affected Oguta .can abagworo help me out? |
Stop raping girls, Osun group pleads August 14, 2012 by Tunde Odesola, Osogbo A Non-Governmental Organisation, Women Against Rape, Sexual Harassment and Sexual Exploitation, has raised the alarm over the rising incidence of rape cases in the country. Addressing a news conference at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, on Monday, the group said 80 per cent of 3,118 students interviewed in a study it conducted had experienced sexual violence and abuse. WARSHE, made up of lecturers of OAU, said it was alarming that rape and other forms of sexual violence against the girls in the study were perpetrated in the homes of the victims. WARSHE principal researchers, Dr. Olutoyin Mejiuni, and Prof Oluyemisi Obilade, said some men capitalised on the trust reposed in them to rape their victims. Mejiuni said, “About 31 per cent of respondents who had experienced sexual violence and abuse had the experience before age 13, and 80 per cent before age 18. The assailants who attacked the respondents were their relatives, a few teachers and religious leaders; family friends, neighbours, male friends and boyfriends. “Respondents suffered shame, fear, aches and pains, cuts and injuries especially to their vagina, bleeding, loss of virginity, pregnancy and ostracism as a result of sexual violence and abuse.” She explained that girls from high school and tertiary institutions in Oyo and Osun states were interviewed through questionnaires distributed between January and May, 2012. Mejiuni said the incidence of sexual abuse was more prevalent in urban areas than rural areas, adding that females’ mode of dressing was not an excuse for rape or sexual violence. She noted that despite the wearing of wrappers by rural women, the incidence of rape was low among rural dwellers, adding that laws against rape and sexual abuse were not deterrent enough. http://www.punchng.com/news/stop-raping-girls-osun-group-pleads/ |

NRI PRIEST: Yes,we all know Chino and his debasing posts towards other Igbo but does that justify Olodosteins insultive post toward Anambra? Now,what make Olodostein different from Chino ? Not much. I have dealt with lots of Imo folks who showed me both hate and jealousy but thats not enough for me to come here and start attacking Imolites. If we say we are civilised lets behave like we are.the difference is that while olodostein did it here(not excusing him) he does not go about looking for trouble from anambrarians(his posts are there to see) while chino attacks anything thread about any other igbo state whether enugu, imo, ebonyi or abia.he even called proud igbo a foolish wawa man on a thread about onitsha port just because the proud igbo ctricized one or two things about the project when in fact proud igbo is from anambra.what do you call that?i call it 'persecution complex'.went to that famous enugu thread and nearly derailed it.for what?did anyone criticize anambra in that thread before he butted in with his foolish remarks? |
NRI PRIEST: Seriouslly,I dont know what to say.... Okija made a very faint joke and they capitalized on it to attack Anambra, hence provoking Chino. Ike gwulu sef. I think some of these guys has always wanted to attack Anambra and that Okijas comment solidified their quest.i guess you do not know chino or you are pretending not to know him.who wants to attack anambra?i hope you are not suffering from the same persecution complex chino is suffering?or did you not see where okija apologised?you think onlytruth does not know about chino's behaviuor to other people from other igbo states?abeg look well. |
Three arrested for kidnapping, killing Lagos businessman September 25, 2012 by Eniola Akinkuotu Leave a Comment Two of the suspects and Akinlade | credits: The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three men -Ogbuesor Sadiq, Abdulwahab Mutairu and Adenola Lanre- for the alleged kidnap and murder of a businessman, Akinsanjo Akinlade. Akinlade was alleged murdered in Ogijo, a border town between Lagos and Ogun states on August 31, 2012. According to police authorities, the suspects kidnapped, killed Akinlade and dumped his body in Ogijo. It was learnt that the suspects ransacked their victim’s apartment and dispossessed him of jewellery, laptop and other valuables. The suspects later abducted the man, drove him in his car to an unknown destination from where they called his wife to demand for a ransom of N200, 000. The spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said, “When they demanded for ransom from the deceased’s wife, she insisted on speaking to her husband in order to get directive as to where to source for money. However, the kidnappers stopped all communication.” One of the suspects, Mutairu, said he plotted the kidnap of the deceased. He said, “My job was to fish out for well-to-do persons around Ikorodu, monitor their movements and get back to the gang. Then, one day, I saw the man driving a jeep and followed him to his house. “I reported to them and they asked me to monitor when he always came home. I monitored him thrice and discovered he was always coming in at a particular time and informed the gang.” Mutairu, who claimed the gang did not plan to kill the businessman, said the kidnap turned awry when he (Akinlade) attempted to escape. He said, “As we all sat in the bush waiting for response from his wife, we heard footsteps of people passing by and he raised the alarm. “I held his mouth to prevent him from shouting but he kept struggling and in the process, Sadiq started cutting him with a machete and at a point, he became motionless. When we confirmed he was dead, we all left.” PUNCH Metro learnt that the matter was immediately reported at Ipakodo Police Station from where it was transferred to the State Intelligence. During investigations, the police were said to have obtained the call logs of Akinlade’s wife’s phone from which they were able to trace one of the suspects, Ogbusor, to Edo state. Ogbusor was said to have revealed the location of other gang members to the police. The suspects reportedly confessed and took the policemen to where they killed the Akinlade. His corpse was found in decomposing state. The suspects also confessed to have kidnapped one Sekiru Yusu and attempted to kidnap another person in Ikorodu before they were arrest http://www.punchng.com/metro/three-arrested-for-kidnapping-killing-lagos-businessman/ |

Countryman93: Their grievance with this revolutionary bill is that it takes away the oil sector from their tight grip. Secondly, it will lead to the extinction of PEF. the greatest beneficiaries of PEF are the Northerners. They have amassed so much money from bridging. But this is where the North Central has to speak out and establish their independence.what is PEF? as for middle beltans the question would be what is it for supporting south south?moreover t y danjuma who owns large oil blocks is from middle belt(taraba) |
Northern Reps plan to throw out PIB September 24, 2012 by John Ameh, Abuja 92 Comments Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke | credits: Efforts to pass the Petroleum Industry Bill into law may be scuttled at the National Assembly as findings indicated on Sunday that members of the House of Representatives from the North had resolved to “kill” it. The PUNCH gathered that the lawmakers had reportedly taken a position to use the “majority block vote” of the region, cutting across political party lines, to defeat their colleagues from the South. Southern lawmakers are the most vocal supporters of the bill, a signal to how they will vote when the contentious bill is debated on the floor of the House. The North has a superior numerical strength over other parts of the country in the House. The North-West, North-East and North-Central have a combined membership of around 191 out of the 360 legislators. Members are already studying the bill ahead of an expected “stormy debate.” However, The PUNCH learnt that the northerners would approach the debate with a “ready position” to oppose the PIB. Investigations indicated that at least 51 lawmakers from the North travelled to Accra, Ghana, during the just-concluded annual recess of the House to hold a conference on the PIB. “There were 51 members on the team that went to Ghana; one of them is a principal officer of the House. “Their mission was to dissect the bill and take a position on it. Their position is simple, to throw out the bill”, a senior legislator, who knew about the conference, disclosed to The PUNCH in Abuja on Sunday. It was gathered that the 51 lawmakers, said to be “outspoken”, were allegedly carefully selected to argue the position of the North during the debate. Investigations showed that the northerners feared that the PIB was a ploy to deny them the benefits accruing from the oil and gas industry by “concentrating the sector in the hands of programmed private interest groups.” He said, “They are also not comfortable with the messenger of the bill (Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Deziani Alison-Madueke), who has vested awesome powers in her office, using this bill. “The PIB has given the minister so much power to decide everything that will happen in the proposed unbundling of the sector. “Looking at the bill, the minister has more powers than Mr. President. In any case, they have never liked this minister. This is coming on the heels of promises by the Speaker of the House, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, that the passage of the PIB would be one of the major engagements of the House this legislative year. “Consistent with the Legislative Agenda of the House, there are bills that the House should attend to expeditiously. “Such bills include constitutional amendment bills on the budget; the Petroleum Industry Bill, review of the Police and Security Agencies Acts, Bills to deal with unacceptably high unemployment situation in Nigeria,” the speaker had stated in a speech to welcome lawmakers from the recess on September 18. When the views of the Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Mr. Zakari Mohammed, were sought, he said it was “not true” that northern legislators had resolved to kill the bill. Mohammed told our correspondent that he expected that all members would comply with the speaker’s call to consider the PIB as a “very important bill to our economy.” He added, “It is not true that any group has resolved to kill this bill; we have all agreed that this is an important bill that has to be passed. “However, we won’t pass it the way it came. “We will discuss it dispassionately and pass it, bearing in mind the fact that this bill is very important to Nigerians.” It will be recalled that after facing several hiccups at the sixth Assembly, the PIB passed first and second readings at the House but was thrown out at the Committee of the Whole. The highlights of the bill include the power vested in the Minister of Petrolum Resources. For example Section 5 of the bill states, “The Minister of Petroleum Resources shall be responsible for the co-ordination of the activities of the petroleum industry and shall exercise general supervision over all operations and all institutions in the industry.” Section 116 of the bill, which makes provision for the establishment of the Petroleum Host Communities Fund. The fund, according to the bill, will be used for “the development of the economic and social infrastructure of the communities within the petroleum producing area.” http://www.punchng.com/news/northern-reps-plan-to-throw-out-pib/ |
