…as Royal Fathers from Governor’s council endorse his re-election

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, in continuation of his administration’s “One Community, One Project” scheme on Monday handed over cheques of N5 million each to another batch of 171 autonomous communities that have met the requirements for the release of the funds to carry out development projects of their choice.

The scheme is an extensive rural development initiative of the Ugwuanyi administration aimed at ensuring that development reaches the 450 autonomous communities in the state, with a dedicated sum of N10 million for each community to address her pressing and peculiar development needs.

Consequently, the State Executive Council approved the scheme and earmarked the sum of N2.25 billion for 450 autonomous communities in the state as the first tranche of the N10 million for every community for the execution of development projects of their choice. Recently, N5 million was disbursed to 118 autonomous communities that had then fulfilled the requirements for the release of the funds.

Last weekend, Gov. Ugwuanyi was at Ibagwa Nike, Enugu East Local Government Area to inaugurate projects executed by the community with the first tranche of N5million, which was earlier disbursed to 118 communities....

truth is aba urban is actually a planned area but unconcerned military governors and incompetent governors affected that city from 1984 to date..if you reconstruct the roads and dualize the ones that need to with high quality works and the drainage of the city done effectively(this to me is aba's biggest issue because of the terrain) this will become obvious.. its outskirts still have lots of land that can be planned for development

I was watching NAS daily on Facebook, do you know that a single individual made big organization to spend over a billion dollar in his village to become an industrial village. He didn't have the money but he was able to lure big investors to invest a billion dollars. Another lured 5billion dollars to build a city in his country. Not a loan but pure investments.

So even between ourselves we cannot generate up to 10billion dollars worth of investment to rebuild southeast and returns on such investments?

I might not be an economist but if a person can remodel and upgrade Onitsha market, it will generate thrice the amount the entire state generates in a month. We keep seeing things we need to do but we are refusing.

Aba needs overhauling. As in chase everyone out and redesign the city to its deserved taste. That could be Milan or Paris of Africa. They design clothing, shoes and everything. Shoes and clothing businesses are responsible for 10billionaires in the world today but we cannot organize such sector and get things going.

We need to let people know that we can be trusted in delivering high level goods and services by redesigning our pattern of development.

We are losing in many aspects because we are failing to organize ourselves and cut the Lagos and Abuja umbilical cord.
