Politics › Obj's Letters - You're Finished If You Get One? by ashjay001(op):
Copied this from fb, and can't stop smiling!

D-one Ayekooto

OBASANJO'S LETTERS.....

I'm not a fan of OBJ but one of my prayer
points has always been that may Obasanjo
never write me a letter.
Obasanjo may have done exact or more evil
than whoever he's writting to admonish but
while OBJ always escape repercussions,
whoever he writes to admonish are not always
lucky.....I inquired sometimes to know how a
man who is glaringly not perfect, escapes
nemesis, and still will not stop to bring out
similar faults of others, it was then I discovered
that, indeed "Jacob I love, Esau I hate...."
OBJ's involvement in any issue signifies the
imminent end of that issue. Why did I say so?
OBJ was not too involved in the civil war,
others were fighting but suddenly, OBJ was
drafted to take over the 3rd Marine
Commando, and a war that has been fought for
2.5 years ended few months after. To him
Biafra Soldiers surrendered completely and he
brought them all to Lagos and handed them
over to Gowon!!!! Today, he is viewed as the
man who conquered Biafra.
It wasn't his will really to lead Nigeria but when
Murtala died and he was unanimously selected
by the military. OBJ is the first military head of
state in Nigeria(if not Africa) to handover
powers to the civilian....although, through some
shady elections, he handed over to his
preferred candidate Shehu Shagari.
OBJ didn't spare Shagari when the latter was
soaked in mismanagement of the economy. He
wrote him. A few months after, the military
smashed Shagari government......in 1995, he
secretly wrote to Abacha and described him as
a stone age dictator...he also refused to settle
Abacha rift with Mandela...the letter landed
him in trouble. He was almost killed. But after
his death sentence was converted into prison
terms, he wrote another letter to Abacha titled
NO CONDITION IS PERMANENT.....Where he
said, "I was a head of state yesterday, today,
I'm in jail. You're the head of state today,
tomorrow, your condition may be worse than
mine...".
LOL....Indeed, Abacha's future was worse as he
ended inside the grave!!!
OBJ didn't write himself while in power but
instead wrote his deputy, Atiku Abubakar. Atiku
has become a shadow of his pre-1999 self since
then.
It wasn't clear whether he wrote Yaradua, a
terminally ill former Kastina governor he
imposed on Nigeria....but he came out publicly
and asked him to resign!!!
OBJ is one former ruler who hates
consipiratory diplomacy and boring
protocol.....no former head of state does it
better.
Although, he also imposed the Ineffectual
Buffon(According to the Economist), Jonathan
whose damage to Nigeria no get part two, yet,
when GEJ corruption reached a level that satan
was afraid of Nigeria and even Mobutu in his
grave described Jonathan as corrupt(so I
heard).....OBJ didn't spare his imposed devil,
he wrote him in a letter titled BEFORE IT IS
TOO LATE......But it was actually late before the
letter was written. Jonathan, today, has
become a sorrowful histroy to which many
Nigerians don't know why such evil befell us as
a nation. Jonathan was a monumental
disaster!!!
OBJ's latest letter was written to the Saraki led
NASS. The NASS leadership brought about by
forgery and deceit of other members. The
NASS where the SP was a former robbery
suspect, DSP a forger, SL alleged boko haram
sponsor, minority leader recently attempted to
transfer a huge amount of dollars to a safer
place. What a NASShuh?
OBJ in his letter, advised them to stop their
corruption and think Nigeria for once.
Their reply too is the usual reply OBJ gets from
every letter he writes to public officers.....in
sults, denials and mockery. Unfortunately,
anyone he writes is always destroyed
thereafter, especially after their expected
reply.
OBJ, Please don't write me....... I don't have
sacrifice money in my house!!!

Been waiting avidly for news on d clean-up of d ND. This shows it isn't being swept under d carpet.

N-Delta militancy fuelled by non-
clean up of Ogoniland —Buhari
ON January 29, 2016 12:59 AM / IN
News / Comments
By Levinus Nwabughiogu
ABUJA—President Muhammadu Buhari,
yesterday, in Nairobi, Kenya, said that non-
clean up of oil spillages in the Niger Delta
especially in Ogoniland, was responsible for
the militancy the region witnessed in times
past.
The president consequently vowed to clean
up the land by implementing the United
Nations Environmental Programme, UNEP’s
recommendations to save the land.
President Buhari made the promise during a
visit to the United Nations Office in the
Kenyan capital.
He also appealed for more support from the
United Nations in the clean up of the region.
He said: “When I came into office on May 29,
2015, one of the first tasks I carried out was
to authorise the implementation of the
recommendations of the UNEP report for
the clean-up of Ogoniland.
“The devastation caused by oil spillage has
destroyed many lives and livelihoods and is
clearly one of the reasons many people in
that region lost faith in government and
resorted to the many criminal activities we
are seeing in the region today.
“The action our government took to
implement UNEP’s recommendations has
given the indigenes of the region hope that
there are better days ahead. Let me,
therefore, express appreciation on behalf of
the Government of Nigeria to UNEP and
other development partners for their
cooperation and support on this very
delicate matter and also request for their
continued support as we implement the
recommendations and transform the
fortunes of the region.”
President Buhari also applauded the
outcome of the 21st session of the
Conference of the Parties (COP 21) to the
United Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change, UNFCCC, held in Paris,
France, in December last year.
He called for rapid urbanization as the world
population increases.

We abuse GEJ and PMB without realizing that we are inadvertently desecrating the seat of The President, Federal Republic of Nigeria. Other Nationals now have the temerity to call a former Nigerian president a Buffoon. Would they address president Obama or Bush like that?

Sadly, this despicable tag on GEJ will resonate with a lot of Nigerians who will throng this forum to validate their prejudice, instead of them to call the newspaper to order. It is totally unacceptable for the Economist to address a Nigerian president with those words.
---
Irrespective of whatever grudges we may have, I think it's better to focus on criticizing the policies, actions or inactions of the president (GEJ/PMB) rather than hauling insults on their person.
People have been calling him all sort of names, even b4 d elections- Clinton, Huffingtonpost, cnn etc

George Bush was called names, Obama is being called names, how much more him? As terrible as d Ghanian economy is presently, I've not heard d citizens calling their President names; because he is not a PhD holder saying "stealing is not corruption" to an international audience!

We might be calling PMB names, but d international audience are falling over themselves to honour him.

Its neva d name calling that matters(that's d critics' job), but the true character of the individual involved.
Culture › Saudi Arabia Keepspumping Oil, Despitefinancial And Politicalrisks by ashjay001(op): 10:58pm On Jan 28, 2016
These falling oil prices, are here to stay! Long toil ahead.

Call it the Saudi calculus.
Oil prices were already
plummeting 14 months ago
when, at Saudi Arabia’s
insistence, OPEC put the global
petroleum industry on notice:
The member countries would
not try to prop up prices by
cutting production.
“We don’t want to panic,”
Abdalla el-Badri, secretary
general of the Organization of
the Petroleum Exporting
Countries, told reporters at the
group’s November 2014
meeting in Vienna. “We want to
see how the market behaves.”
Since then, the market has
behaved in a way few could
have predicted — including
Saudi Arabia, the world’s
biggest oil exporter. The price
of oil has collapsed under the
weight of a growing
international glut, made worse
by slower growth in the global
economy.
And yet the Saudis keep
pumping oil at virtually full
capacity. And they have
persuaded their Persian Gulf
OPEC allies — Kuwait, the
United Arab Emirates and
Qatar — to do the same,
despite mounting pressure
from other big OPEC members
to curtail production.
It is a risky strategy — one that
is already straining Saudi
finances and threatening the
kingdom’s ability to continue
providing generous social
programs, like subsidized
housing and cheap energy, that
the royal family has long used
to buy domestic tranquillity.
Oil provides more than 70
percent of Saudi government
revenue. And though the
Saudis still have about $630
billion in financial reserves,
they are spending them at a
rate of $5 billion to $6 billion a
month, according to Rachel
Ziemba, an analyst at Roubini
Global Economics in New York.
But so far, Saudi Arabia is
essentially betting that it can
win an oil-price war of attrition
— not only against its OPEC
rivals like Iran, Iraq and
Venezuela, but also against
non-OPEC rivals like Russia
and the many shale-oil
producers in the United States
that have contributed to the
global glut.

LordAdam:
Tompolo is not allowing anyone to be harassed. NDs after decades of neglect in the commonwealth of Nigeria have learned to be thorough about their reactions. This is not the 70s or 80s when we were bent to the whims of the North at will.

We know these corruption charges are 100% political. The corruption fight is a clout to weaken Tompolo's influence and in extension PDP's influence in the region.

Think of it this way. Tompolo's financial accounts were freezed in August prior to the Bayelsa elections for no express reason. He challenged EFCC to court. They did not respond. Bayelsa elections came, he was approached to support the APC candidate and he refused. PDP won. A week later, he was charged to court. Mind you, his previous case is still pending until this day.

Sire, does this scenario not have all the imprints of political harassment? N13b was used to buy the land for a university. It is high, but really how high is it. The average cost to build a government website is no more than N2m. Fayemi is demanding N800m.

In the 2016 budget, The Nigerian Lottery Trust Fund wants to use N500m to BUY LAND for an OFFICE BUILDING. Extrapolate it and tell me if N13b for the land of a university land and N500m for less than 5 plots are not proportional?

Buhari's government is corrupt. And we know Tompolo's search is a clear definition of witch-hunt.

If Dasuki has not been released for being charged with N10b (not the $2.1b being bandied about) even after satisfying bail conditions? Will Tompolo be released?

Buhari should be very careful, he is not dealing with the same region in 80s. We are more self-aware of the antics of the power-mongers. We will stand by Tompolo, not because he is a saint, but because without someone like him, it will only be a matter of time before the region is run over. Imagine the cancellation of a University project already nearing completion?

IBB is not a saint, yet he is respected in his region. Same for OBJ, Bode George. We cannot have saints only in one region and demons in another and have a functional country.

Let the Port-Harcourt, Akwa Ibom and Edo gubernatorial elections be concluded first, before we consider whether we would give Tompolo up. For now, he is useful to maintain the bragging right of the region. We are not kids and certainly not Zombies.

My friend, always try to refrain from bringing in ethnicity when it comes to sensitive National issues bordering on Security.
That being said..

I didn't in any way exonerate GEJ in the Arms deal saga. To put it short and simple, he failed Nigerians in many unthinkable ways!
Nevertheless, he's still my Best! Of course that is my opinion. Let us see if PMB can rewrite that in days to come.

Maybe you hold the notion that GEJ is the worst... That is up to you though! But You would be shocked to the bones if you knew the level of corruption that transpired in Past Governments.

Think about this... If PDP had continued, would all these revelations be exposed to light? A resounding NO is the answer!

Thumbs up to the present administration. But PMB is fighting Corruption 'selectively'. So it quite worrisome when some well known 'thieves' are even being praised and celebrated, while their accomplices are,......... you know the rest of the story.
However, it is better than fighting 'selectively' than being complacent.

We have Northeners who are involved in the Arms deal. Does it mean they don't care for their people?
When Niger Militants destroy pipelines, is it not their properties they are destroying? What is the property of Government? Who are the government? You and I are the government! It is our money, our sweats, irrespective of our states of origin!
So anything that befalls the eye affects the legs!

So please the issue of regionalism doesn't come in here!

Just to add: A Champion in chess isn't one who can factor in all the moves, because even notable Engines that can do that are many a times humiliated by humans!

Thank you!
U still remain an Illusionist.

I see things in black and white. That previous govts were more corrupt, doesn't give GEJ any free pass. I voted and stood to be counted for him, through all his early travails, because I felt he had a dream for our Nation. U cannot admit his frailty, and still declare him d best. Govts av been robbing us, even b4 d europeans. Why should he not be above all that?

I'm praying PMB doesn't stoop that low, but if/when he does, I'm not sparing him either!

I was taught to work for money, nobody is teaching d current generation. No morals, no conscience, no credible leader. I might not be able to change d world, but I'll effect my little part in it, and will definitely not be counted amongst pple who would encourage its destruction.

I'm replying you because you claim to be intelligent. So are you trying to say that the NA will kill 700 people in a massacre in the SS particularly Ijawland and nothing will happen? When were you born?

The shiites killing is being muted because over 80% of Nigerian muslims are Sunni muslims. For virtually all of the Sunni muslims including the ones on NL, the killing was deserved and that El-zakay had it coming.

But Ijaw people know the Tompolo hunt is ethnic and political so the region will not let any massacre slide. I assure you.

I had earlier opined that though it makes sense for Tompolo to go to court, I wouldn't advise him to. Now, I would rather he never goes to the court. They should do their worst!

It is now undoubtedly clear that those cases are framed to subdue him and the region. If not, why has EFCC not answered the case Tompolo filed against them in August. Why did they seize his accounts in August and then file a court case in December? How long is that? Why have the civil servants and director generals in the agencies in land n survey, bureau of acquisitions, niger delta ministry, ministry of finance, audit agency (apart from the Ijaw NIMASA guy) not being tried and arrested for giving off such huge contracts. Did Tompolo arrange and sign the contracts by himself?

I refuse to be fooled by the corruption tag. Tompolo should resist arrest for as long as he can. Let the military go ahead with razing the communities and let the countdown to the end of Nigeria begin.

They should issue a bench warrant for Lamorde who diverted N1tr. Bastards!

What have we gained from this hellish union that we would be blackmailed by some born-to-rule ethnic group. Screw PMB, APC, the North and the West.

PMB(d Bastard) has doubled dared u and urs! He says u're mincemeat compared to BH! The bastards are going to re-organize and deal with u! I'm still waiting for Tompolo's usual boastful reply. He has not even started and d creeks are emptying and ur leaders are screaming ignorance, denials n innocence.

Don't worry, be patient, as Tompolo's time is presently knocking, Larmode's time will surely come!

Pius Adesanmi The Politician, the Citizen, and the Thing By Pius Adesanmi. Flint, Michigan, is one backyard American town. It is one very worwor town, roughly half the size of Warri or Omu-Aran. The Governor of the state of Michigan is in deep shit and may lose his job. To cut costs and save a buck or two, he and his administration cut corners with the public water supply to the town of Flint. The Governor has been begging and dobale-ing and kneeling all over the place. Nothing doing. He will most likely lose his job. And that is the least of his problems. New Jersey's Governor, Chris Christie, that one who looks like Fagunwa's Ibembe Olokunrun and is always abusing the father and the mother of Barack Obama on the campaign trail, will not be sworn in as President of the United States of America in January 2017. In a woolly- headed fit of political vindictiveness, he got his aides to mess around with traffic and bridges in his state and cause Lagos-like traffic jam for ordinary people. In Washington, DC, the Mayor has spent the better part of the last 48 hours apologizing and begging and kneeling all over the place for her initial sluggish response to the snowstorm. Where do these American politicians and their Nigerian political kinsmen meet? What unites them? What unites them is the nature of power. In America as in Nigeria, power's first instinct, power's natural inclination is to trample on the dignity and humanity of the citizen - if she can get away with it. Power will never, of her own volition, accord you your dignity and humanity. So why are all these American politicians begging and kneeling and pleading and promising Joe the plumber and Jane the nurse that they will not do so again o? Because they broke the social contract in an environment where their actions will never be justified, excused, rationalized, endured, tolerated by the very people whose dignity they trampled upon. There will be no degree holder to argue that the current Governor of Michigan is not the first Governor to allow water pollution on his watch. There will be no emergency archivists who will litter social media with every past instance of water pollution in American history as justification of the action of the current Michigan Governor. There will be no Stockholm Syndromed lunatics who will invade social media, wailing that the current investigations in Michigan amount to persecution of the Governor. There will be no alakoris claiming that unless water pollution investigations extend all the way back to George Washington, nothing must be done. The American politician and the Nigerian politician are the same, prone to exploitation of the people and abuse of power. What makes the difference between them is that the American politician has to contend with a citizen who insists on his rights and dignity. What makes the difference between them is that the Nigerian politician rules over a thing which cleans his shoes and goes to war to defend the politician's right to treat it as a thing. In Michigan, the Governor's ethnicity, race, faith, and political affiliation will not help him. They are of no moment. In his shoes, I would move to Nigeria to lord it over things that would excuse my mediocrity and corruption on account of my ethnicity, religion, and political affiliation.

Awolowo was jailed, MKO died in prison, Tafa Balogun went to prison, Bode George went to prison, even Obj spent time in prison! I didn't hear Yorubas threaten hell n brimstones!

Dasuki now has a duplex in prison and I'm yet to hear d confirmed crazy Northern youths, make Nigeria a hell on his behalf.

But an ordinary militant that didn't agitate for clearing d oil spillage in his Niger Delta, didn't insist on d completion of d East-West road, didn't agitate for youth empowerment but was busy filling his pockets and buying warships, is being requested to present himself politely, and una no go allow person hear word?!

May your days be long Chief Etolor....you and your household and your inheritance...

That line says it all, unlike what some vagabonds online will make you believe.
Good one...My question is, why are some people crying "crucify him, he is a criminal, get him, kill him", while they can go any length to defend theirs.

Please has anyone issued bench warrant for Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, with 1trn Naira fraud cases hanging on his head.
The issue is that some people think others are still their mumu who they can command anyhow.

If you want Tompolo, go and arrest him, stop threatening innocent elders, nonsense

Nna nawa oh, I don close book, matter don end.

Elders wey get sense! Army, Police, DSS, Civil Defence, Navy, Customs, Airforce, Man O'war, yellow fever no know where Tompolo dey, na Elders thinking how to make ends meet una wan give intelligence job of trafficking Tompolo down.
Wonders shall not seize in my time.
Its pple like u that require a total breakdown of articles, before u can understand the vagaries.

Nigeria is losing #100m/day due to those bombings. Refineries are shutdown due to those bombings. Most likely, fuel will become scarce, due to those bombings. There will be reduced electric power, due to those bombings.

Pple like u will come to Nairaland and abuse d govt when all these things come into play.

How will strangers or even indigenes carryout such movements, that lead to d bombings and d community closest to it will be unaware(fishermen, farmers, transporters, marketwomen, layabouts etc)?

What the FG requires, is information that will lead to arrests. I can understand village heads not understanding d FG's request, but not the educated youths(u), who is supposed to explain it to their elders.

Incase u haven't realised, d decimation of BH was citizen blind- a lot of civilians were killed indiscriminately! U are on Nairaland, making ignorant statements, while pple in d villages are escaping for their lives, b4 d govt starts another Zaria massacre with their lives. The elders are being encouraged to give them up, before they loose their subjects. Hope u know say, over a month after, enquiry never even start for d Zaria massacre(over 700citizens killed, corpses missing)?

Get real!
