The federal government on Friday released a list of some people who it claimed allegedly laundered money in the previous administration.

Minister of Information, Lai Mohammad, released the list during a press conference in Lagos on Friday, a statement by his assistant, Segun Adeyemi reads.

The minister noted that PDP’s challenge prompted FG to take the move adding that the names in the list include PDP chieftains who are currently being tried for corruption and financial crimes.

“The PDP has challenged us to name the looters under their watch. They said they did not loot the treasury. Well, I am sure they know that the treasury was looted dry under their watch. Yet they decided to grandstand. This shows the hollowness of their apology. Let’s just give them a teaser with this list”, Alhaji Mohammed said.

The minister also said the list is “just a tip of the iceberg, and the PDP is aware of this.
We did not make these cases up. Many of these cases are in court and the records are available”.

He also noted that some of the people on this list are seeking to plea bargain.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has been approved as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2019 election.

This was done at the party’s national convention on Saturday night.

Writing on Twitter after the nomination, Buhari said:

“It is with a deep sense of humility that I accept the nomination of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, to be its candidate and flagbearer in the 2019 Presidential election. I thank you all for your support and guidance, and for staying committed to the Change Agenda.

“Let us all join hands to ensure the continuation of the good work of the APC Government, to 2023 — and beyond! Change has come to stay in Nigeria. Long live APC, long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!”

Tension has gripped the 13 presidential aspirants as vote sorting and counting begins on Sunday at the 2018 elective national convention of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Some of the candidates who are currently at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, the venue of the convention, included former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Sokoto governor Aminu Tambuwal.

The party accredited 3,274 delegates who voted to pick a presidential candidate.

The delegates come from the 36 states and federal capital territory (FCT).

The vote count is being closely monitored by the 13 aspirants and their agents.

The PDP chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, had earlier enumerated the party’s ‘success stories’ since 2015, and declared that it has graduated from being an opposition into a ‘ruling party in-waiting’.

Secondus, who expressed pleasure in welcoming members from all over Nigeria to Port Harcourt, said that the subject of this year’s national convention was: “Nigerians Take Back Your Country’’.

The party boss also boasted that “today PDP is now in control of the leadership of the National Assembly, adding that “the convention is a crucial stage in PDP’s “ unstoppable march to regain power’’.

He said that the selection of aspirants for the convention was done through Indirect Primaries, adding that the convention would be orderly, fair and transparent.

He said the party was determined to organise a convention that would remain a reference point for other parties

He also recalled that the party gathered in Jos, Plateau, about 20 years ago for a similar convention to herald a new democracy in Nigeria.

Secondus said the party started the Contributory Pension Scheme and reformed the Electoral Process, among others.

Secondus, who said the party members had “Indeed learnt our lessons’’, added that the PDP had “graduated from an opposition party in 2015 to a ruling party in waiting’’ in 2018.

He also assured that the party would ensure Nigeria’s unity, secure Nigerians, educate our youths, reduce poverty, return Nigeria to the path of economic growth and run an inclusive government if it wins the presidential poll in 2019.

“The choice you make today will go a long way to rescue our nation from the APC governance,’’ he said. (NAN)

Nigeria has always and will always Be a Colonial Contraption with no True Identity among its people and with no Unity. Nigeria as a country has no Identity and stands for nothing, that we all as Nigerians can be proud of There is a Total Break down of Law and Order in the the system working the country and this has led to a break down of the values that should be governing our lives as a people. We have lost our way sadly, and this has led us to the point where we have to take the Bull by the Horn and take the necessary steps to safeguard our lives and the Numerous cultures and traditions of us all who are the true Indigenous Nigerian People. We should endeavor to do the right thing at this point in our Nations History, we should strive to do the Right thing which is to carry out a vote or census on the issue of Forming New States based on our Ethnic Groups, where each Ethnic Group will be asked to decide if they want to remain in the Country Nigeria as one or they would like to exercise their fundamental right of Self Determination and Resource Control. Failure by the Government Of President Buhari to carry out this Census or Referendum would lead to Civil war in the Country that might eventually end up dividing the Country, But this Impending Civil war can only be prevented From happening by taking the wise choice of accepting to carry out a free and fair Sovereign National Referendum. There is no other path for the Government Of Buhari to take.
