Travel › Re: Motives Behind The Constant Desire To Travel Abroad by atasteve: 2:50pm On Sep 23, 2011
The problem is not the country but individuals!

"WHAT A MAN DOES NOT RECEIVE FROM ABOVE (GOD) CANNOT COME FROM ABROAD"

A CHICKEN IN NIGERIA CANNOT BECOME AN EAGLE IN ABROAD

Nigeria is not working but haven't you seen sincere and trustworthy people that are prospering around you in this same country while you complain all day long. huh

Everybody got to ask themselves this sincere question; WHY AM I TRAVELLING OUT? I will advise that you have a rethink if you cannot answer yourself sincerely.

@gbolex, congrats, a German floor is needed either on wet or dry land. It is the unit that adds strenght to the foundation by sealing the top and providing a platform for the superstructure. I strongly recommend it.
Yes, I agree totally with Lord Spyder880. I will advise as it binds the foundation with the rest of the building.

1x12x12 planks (later sawn into designs) 17 x 850 =N14,450
other assorted wood, 1x6x12,1x3x12,1x2x12 etc = N6000
machinist  N3000
keke Napep N4,000
4 Ssheets of plywood N4,800
assorted nails, 2", 1/2" cupper nails for plywood = N1,700

FOR THE OUTER PILLARS, WE BOUGHT THESE

4 pcs of 12mm rods @1380 x 4 = N5,520
small roll of binding wire N500
labour for the iron bender, casting of concrete and standing of rods (mason) = 8000

We also bought some rods for the decking, but note, this is just the initial ones.

12MM RODS x 60 =1380X60 = 82,800
10MM Rods X 50 =1050 X 50 = 52,500
6MM Rods X 30 = 350 X 30 = 10500
16MM Rods X 10 = 2500 X 10 = 25,000
Binding wire (full roll) N4500
1X12X12 (saw mill planks) N850 X 20 = N17,000

ON 19/09/2011

TOTAL N273,670 for now.

Add this to the N1,600,905.00 already spent and the new total will be N1,874,575.00

I have been delaying this cost update because there are still things I want to appear in the pictures before I state the costs, but at the risk of forgetting some of the costs, I will state these initial ones, work is still ongoing, and that means that more updates are pending as we speak I have not updated the materials we used for the conduit wiring because work is inconclusive there.
Lord Spyder880, thanks so much for the breakdown.

Just seeing this gives assurance that through the process of a step at a time, a whole skyscrapper can be built in no time at allsmiley

Thank you everyone for the comments, like I said yesterday, I went to this site today.
But before I went, I called this carpenter guy yesterday evening and he told me he has done the steps, covered the outer pillars and is just doing the archs as I was speaking with him, well he did nothing! Yes he didn't even visit the site for a second.

I met the job as I left it before telling him what to do, and he was lying to me all these few days on phone, oh Lord, how I hate lies! Anyway I called him from the decktop and asked him where he is and he told me he is at the site, which site? Then he switched off. I have sent him a text and told him never to visit that site again, I am changing him immediately and if not for God, I will personally throw his properties into this rain.

Work will start in this site by tomorrow, another carpenter is already moving to this site. So much for helping people!
What can one do about this issue of lying and inconsistency on the part of the workmen.

They make the good contractors/engineers look really BAD sad

I am giving out a quote for fencing a plot of land measuring 20 x 50 meters. Might as well make it open so others can learn a few things from it. These are the materials needed, at these prices. The owner wants 11 coaches above foundation level.

6" solid blocks. 4200xN120 = N504,000
1x12x12 planks 120xN750 = N90,000
1x3x12 planks 164xN250 = N41,000
Cost of gate N130,000
12mm rods 70xN1400 = N98,000
Cement 125xN1,900 = N237,500
Sand 7 trips x N7500 = N52,500
Gravel 3 trips x N17,000 = N51,000
Roll of binding wire N4500
Bag of 3" nails N4700
Labour for bricklayers/serving N135,000
Labour for all carpentery works N25,000
Gate standing/concrete mixing N40,000
Foundation and blinding of fence N34,500
Transporting the gate/all materials to site N15,000
Water N15,000

Duration of the project = 2 weeks.
I have always imagined that fencing a plot will be in the neighbourhood of 500k.

Thanks Lord Spyder880 for the enlightenment, this calls for proper planning,

Tonto
We are just so shallow minded. How does that come into the way I act? Excuse me (voice raised). That is my personal life. If I want to smoke, I handle a stick of cigarette and I smoke it hard. It is my life I can decide to smoke myself to hell. It’s nobody’s business.

Hey girl sit up and listen, you are a public figure and expected to be a role model to the youth in particular,

what you do and say must be good. We have our little ones watching your acts, which makes every actor or actress a good one

and ultimately smiles to the bank. Impacting negative life style is unacceptable. If you insist is your business,

then you should keep it out of sight and smoke yourself to hell. Her defenders can pass on the massage to her.

Negative life style is never what anybody should be proud of. Certainly this will not make one be a celebrities

All of her answers are so defensive!!! People answer that why when they are guilty and afraid. huh

Public figures don't live for themselves but for the future generations by being good examples.

@Abuloma80, your pieces of advise are so matured and I perceive so much experience from your reaction to this post.
