Politics / Re: Why Buhari Should Not Devalue The Naira by Atlantian: 8:22pm On Feb 03, 2016
I advise you not to sound a conviction on something you know nothing about. You are telling us Buhari should not devalue the currency, yet you end up my asking us to enlighten you on the entire devaluation issue.

The value of a currency is dependent on the demand and supply of that currency. The price of oil which is our major export is now on the region of $30pb against $120pb that it was about a year ago. Simple maths indicate that 30 is 0.25 percent or 1/4 of 120. So as at 1 year ago, naira was 190 to 1$. So common sense shows that value of naira at this moment is supposed to be theoretically 4 x 190 = 760 naira to a dollar, but based on the fact that fx rate is not determined by just crude sales but affected by marginal fluctuation differences in fx as well as other indices, we are currenctly exchanging at about 300 to a dollar in the parallel market, which I believe is the true market.

Devaluing our currency is bad, yes it sounds very bad and it is, but that is the price you pay for a Federal Government that depends on Niger Delta crude oil alone. The FG bars exploration of solid minerals by the states since 1960 and so, they operate a quasi mono-product economy yet expects miracles from heaven.

We are doomed my friend, because you even need lots of money to develop new frontiers, the money we do not have. And yet we borrow to pay salaries. The debt will become so huge that we will basically default and our external reserve will be fleeced. That is when we will not be able to buy arms to fight boko haram, or import basic necessities like food and drugs.

Again, we are doomed, except the silly politicians at Aso Rock go on a viral campaign of mandating States to engage in Private Sector JV to explore revenue options like allowing states to run their local economies, explore their minerals. Fiscal independence of states is all that Nigeria needs. When there is no more such much money controlled by the FG. There is will be less to be stolen there and everyone will love to live and work in his/her state.

I am in Lagos because Federal Government chose to operate commercial seaports and airports here alone. All oil companies are here and I virtually see myself leaving my paradaisical state to live in a noisy, chaotic place. Everything is just wrong. There is no perfect place where madness meets with ignorance like this country.

1. Allow states to access their resources and pay royalties and taxes to FG.
2. Allow State to own their police
3. Allow State to design their tax codes.
4. Allow states to merge if they chose to.

Kuyo:

Is there any other way somebody can send money to his relative outside the country even UBA Africash is not working

Yes, according to Buhariconomics, ask any Nigerian in that country to give your relative the money there, while you pay the naira equivalent to the person's Nigeria account. Buhari is taking us back to to 1800 AD.

Utomi is a Professor of Economics, correct me if I am wrong. And I will rely on the advise of knowledgeable people like him than listen to the narcissistic verbiages of emperors of emotional masturbation.

The exchange rate isnt something you fix. It is determined largely by micro and macro economic indices, but here we are in a nation over-populated by half-wise and half-foolish public commentators who are guided by sentimental political lineages to drum support for a clearly daft Buhari whose best credential is cattle-rearing.

There has been no new road constructions, no new airport built, no new hospital and not even a single input to the economy since the slowpoke became President almost 8 months ago.

I always knew Fr. Mbaka to be a narcissistic maniac who thinks too highly of himself. I never believed he was still in the Catholic Faith until now. I have never seen any Catholic priest act with such concept of illusion.

Fr Mbaka should be ostracized from the Catholic Faith so he can join politics and act as silly as most politicians.

I used to sympathize and pity the ND whose lands have been destroyed by oil spills for decades but it now appears I (like most other Nigerians) are wrong! The oil companies owned by foreigners are being proved right: the Nigerians of the ND do not care one hoot about their lands and even if oil destroyed the last fish or green sprout, they'd take that for a little handout of money! They bombed a multi-billion dollar infrastructure that will adds and ultimately will always add value to their cities / states, spilled oil that will destroy their environments and cost billions to clean-up, which may not happen for decades given Nigeria's record of handling issues like this, and that is smart? Well, let them just set fire to the place and burn it down completely, let us see who will suffer!
Why are you complaining ? When you have oil well at your backyard and you see people pumping them to develop other cities while your village remains in shambles for decades when you will realize that it is worth setting everything ablaze.

Standing by the Grand Wagen is ego boost. Seems his bad physique has robbed him of his confidence. So he finds his most valued material possession to boost his confidence.

If he takes away the truck and stand by himself to snap the picture, he will look less than a village town crier. A man must learn to boost his confidence from the inside out, learn to eat well and exercise and work on your skin. I am tired of telling people "sorry" after poisoning their vitals with bad alcohol and destructive lifestyles.

Politics / Re: My Fears For Buhari’s Change Agenda - Olusegun Obasanjo by Atlantian: 9:12am On Feb 02, 2016
I am a staunch believer that there is a limit where egotistic ignorance and narcissism can take one to. You can not handover a national economy in 21st century to a semi-literate khakistocrat and expect anything positive. When they borrow so much, where do they think is the source of the funds to pay the debts ? The same oil that is now cheaper than cocaine ? People with vision know that this country has no future with the present brand of politicians in power. Nigeria is a blueprint of exactly how illiteracy can mar a people.

The only part of Nigeria that will really be structurally organized are the parts that have been abandoned, the world is not ending, so I believe these virgin places will be planned. As for Lagos and other overpopulated places, they will be remembered in fairly tales as cities that couldnt work due to overpopulation.
