Arrant nonsense. It was normal and still remains normal to put a nail under the slippers when it cuts. It doesnt show that one is poor. It does show that one is creative. Poverty of the purse is not anyone's fault, but the absence of support system from the government, friends and family.

UR own version of history is d worst. U said benin people always camp in Lagos on their way to Togo n did u bother to ask ur history book whether some people live in d place where u referred to as camp or not. Because wat uar trying to say in essence is dat at dat time, nobody lives in d place we now called Lagos. Is dat so?

Eko means "camp" in Bini language and the fact that the name Eko is adopted till this date means that the history is accurate. There is no direct yoruba meaning for the word for Eko in the yoruba dialect. Not all parts of Earth as at today is inhabited by humans. The land called Eko was uninhabited as at that time by humans. Bini people largely used the route during the slave trade era to other locations for commerce and at badagry you will agree that different tribes were selling and buying slaves and reselling. The great Ile Ife people actually came for fishing at Eko since it was and still remain largely a lagoon state.

It might interest you to know that I am neither Bini nor Igbo, neither am I yoruba, I am simply a human being who believes in facts. No one chose the tribe he was to be born in, and no tribe enjoys food better than the others. You are not yoruba because you are black, I am also black. You are not yoruba because blood flows in you, and I dare say, you are not yoruba because you are biased, Yoruba people are not biased.

The moment we realize that every part of this planet will develop and function like New York someday, the better for your myopic mental masturbation.

Learn to spell, I have no tolerance for illiterates, it is not pride, it is just that a lion can not eat grass.

Oba picked gold from Ife river and its applauded, but if a Niger Deltan fetched crude oil from the muddy streams, it is treason.

Culture / Re: The Benin-ife Historical Link: Matters Arising. by Atlantian: 11:41am On Feb 09, 2016
It therefore means that the Bini people are the precursors of the modern day yoruba culture and traditions. So, if Imadoduwa (Oduduwa) was assumed to come from God, then it therefore places the Bini dynasty in the realms of the gods. I believe this theory will put to rest the original ownership of Eko which actually means "camp" in bini language and offer the yorubas the pedigree they so need to affirm their title to Lagos. Yorubas are great people no doubts, but Lagos is a portuguese word while Eko is a Bini word.

Peace please.

What is this one saying ? It is not in Fashola's watch that Lekki Expressway that toll gate fees are collected when the road is incomplete ? How is that different from increasing electricity Tariff when there is no electricity ? Vested interest has taken over Nigeria, just as it took over Lagos under his watch. With Ambode LASTMA and KAI have stopped extortions. Fashola was a product of successful propaganda, now beans don done, the smell is coming out gradually.

Freeglobe, you and your obsession with Lagos!!!! So far no Benin/Edo person don bring up this Lagos matter because it is a non-issue that they dare not even raise. But due to Igbo land-grabbing obsession with Lagos you had to sneak that in. Look, no matter how hard you try, your people (Igbo) have no aboriginal connection with Lagos, and try as you may you can never distort nor rewrite her history to erase her Yoruba origin. You all obviously have nothing to be proud of in Igboland that you are so desperate to rewrite Lagos history for your selfish reasons. Igbos will always be settlers in Lasgidi and in due time you will all be deported back to Biafra. cheesy

For reference purpose, I will like to re-post my earlier assertion, I did not mention igbo in my analogy, neither am I Igbo, I am also not Freeglobe. My earlier post is from historical records including wkipaedia if you are interested in emotionless research. Please note that I do not like to be any other tribe apart from my presdent tribe which is not igbo anyway, I do not think Yorubas are a superior tribe to the Bini people, I do not always think that Binis have anything to gain my making the assetion. It is for education purpose only.

I have studied both cultures when there was a controversy about Lagos being a "No man's land", in actuality, I realised from historical records that in 1630s, the Benin people used to travel from Benin to Togo via Badagry. It was the Benin People that gave the name Eko, which means "Camp" in Bini language. The Benin people usually settled here in Lagos. It was on one of those trips that they met Ile-Ife fishermen on the coast of Eko and they fought and defeated the Ile-Ife fishermen and few Benin people settled in Eko and few scattered population of Ile-Ife people always settled for fishing.

When the Portugese came for exploration, the named Eko, which in Bini means camp, they name it Lagos, which means "Lake" in Portugese.

I think the Benin people have a very detailed history and this Oba issue will bring to light that Benin Monarchy is totally the precursor of the Eko, and what ever the disclosure will be, both tribes will take it in good faith. No tribe is superior, its just language that is different.

It is indisputable that Oba is a titular position and belongs to Yoruba culture, not Benin.

So why is King of Benin a titular Omo n'Oba (the descendant of Oba), can the Benin palace give us clarity on this?

I paid 200,000 to get a prepaid meter through corruption just to avoid seeing those useless nepa people at my gate. I hate that nonsense called "estimated billing". And since the service charged has been scrapped, NLC should focus on getting every consumer a prepaid meter. The pricing is fair.

Are you above 18yrs of age ? If Yes, then you are independent human, mature enough to live life based on your choices. Your mom had obligation to raise you the man you are, and that is it. Your mother has no right to regulate and manage your personal life. If your mom says your wife is not classy and not beautiful, inform her that you are a different kind, that class and beauty is wonderful but will not define who you decide to live your life with. It is your life, not your mom's. She has lived hers based on her choices, you should live yours, based on your choices.

I served in Osun, they kept jazz for me cos I used to discipline them for late coming. I matched it and my leg started to swell within seconds, the teachers and principal were scared and told me this shit is serious. I laughed and told them "I came prepared". I entered the bush and came back smiling and they looked at me with awe.

You need to pay more attention to the news. In his own words, from his lips, he confirmed that he controls it and that is why Utomi made that remark. You need to read more news. And please, you have no capability of "helping me understand" anything. You might wanna try schooling kindergarten at your spare time.
