@ topic I'm laughing so hard i'm crying. My top 5: 1. Sasha{emi le gan}-"its not a game, when iam on the mic its a shame" (totally self inflicted) 2. Modenine{Freestyle}-"They know me in Europe and they know me in Italy and Belgium" (duh) 3. P square{busy body}-"when i first saw her she was looking like an angelite, flashing like a lighter ina the candlelight" (this is tooooo, funny) 4. Sasha{emi le gan}-"Am not afraid to flip it in your flop" (wacker than wack) 5. Pherowshuz-"i can get your car lost like santana" (hello, you guys need to like quit altogether) And the winner is SASHA Please, this 9ja hiphop is crazy. Post your own Top 5 abeg with comments. I need to laugh more. |
javalove:Well, as i said before, with fans like this, how will he ever progress. Without hits, relevant is relative |
dejiariyo:Omo, i rest my case. With fans like you, how will he ever progress. |
dammiecool:For once i co-sign Dammiecool. By now, he should be huge. I've listened to his new mixtape. The mixing is sub standard and none of the songs is pushing the brand any further. If he owns his own label, he should fire everybody and re hire the right people. I see ruggedman videos on Nigeezie everyday, MI on Nigeezie everyday, Naeto c same thing, even K16 i see everyday, no Mode 9. There's something wrong there. If he doesn't want his legacy to be wasted, he should get cracking. |
mbulela:Then at least you and your fellow purists should support the guys music by buying it, instead of constantly asking for download links. I don't care how you spin it. It's yes men like you that are stopping him from progressing. HE NEEDS A HIT RECORD TO STAY RELEVANT. If you can't make hit records in the music business, even underground hit records, then you are just the same as all the other joe bloggs. Talib Kweli, Common, Mobb Depp, Kanye, all underground cults, but they blew up. Mode 9 seems to make music for the same 100 guys everytime. |
whiteroses:I'm sorry, but what' s your point? Are you saying the money is too much, too little or that you don't think they should be getting it in the first place. Please clarify. |
Not sure about Bouqui, haven't heard the album yet, but Tillaman is good on the hooks |
Very original. Both lyrically and his flow. You can't say anybody sounds like him or has his style. Positive message and catchy chorus. I know Nairaland will bash it, but this is what hip-hop should be about. Invention with the lyrics and storytelling. @Junkie: you can download off Zshare. |
N50 million is roughly £200,000.00. For artists as big as P-squared, who are an African, not just Nigerian brand, that is nothing. Drake was paid $2million advance by Lil wayne's young money and he hasn't even released an album yet. Get some perspective here. Be happy for them and stop belly aching. |
Same old Mode 9. Talent wasting. He needs to change his management team. Sometimes it's not just about having the gift, it's knowing how to use it. Plus, he needs to find a marketer that will believe in his cause and really take him mainstream and for that to happen, he needs a big hit. From the lyrics of the "i was there" track, the guy don dey become grandfather for the game and he's been active the whole time. By now, he should be a Don dada for Naija on that Jay-Z, N3 million a gig level. This is not hating. I'm just telling it as i see it. The guy can definitely flow, but he needs to change his team. That's all i'm saying. |
fastmoney:LOL |
ibkaye:No wahala |
ThiefOfHearts:It's a work of fiction, a movie, it's not a documentary. We have bigger problems than being portrayed as cannibals in District 9, which by the way, is the best Sci-fi i've seen in a long time. We should be proud it was made in Africa. Hopefully, the producers will start looking for other locations and might consider Nigeria. God knows we need the investment |
LOL, just read this thread with great interest. You guys need to chill out. We do enough damage to ourselves with our own movies. According to Nollywood, Nigeria is full of Back stabbing, money grabbing, incest, rituals, murder without remorse, witchcraft, prositution, i could go on for ever. Outside of the South Africans themselves, the biggest other black african population in JoBerg are Nigerians. The filmmakers took creative license. In the context of the story, i soon forgot that those characters were Nigerian and was engrossed in the unfolding story. Anybody who believes Nigerians are cannibals, based on a Science Fiction film is an idiot. The film got a worldwide release and was shot by a South African Director in South Africa. Soon, more hollywood producers will want to make films there bringing much needed support for their film industry. We should be focusing on how to achieve this in Nigeria, instead of picking on the fact that the characters were supposed to be Nigerian. Or are we saying it's fine for them to be from any other country as long as it's not Nigeria? |
yoji:Actually, i totally disagree with you. For starters, you can't compare Majek Fashek or Onyeka Onwenu or the Mandators to the guys we have now. Those guys wrote real songs which could stand up anywhere worldwide. Rythm, lyrical content, composition, originality, it was all there. Secondly, your calling the foreign stuff garbage. That alone writes you off in my book. So now, if it's not naija, it's now garbage. The garbage music as you call it, is what MI and Kel and Mo Cheddah and Sauce Kid and countless others are trying to imitate. Badly in most cases. Bottomline is, naija likes to do Zombie and Follow the leader. Nobody wants to try and do something different, because their scared that it will not sell if they don't all sound the same. 9ice, 2face, Faze, PSquared, DBanj are all doing there own thing and are very successful, but more importantly, the lyrics are as good as the beat. I don talk finish. |
I live in London, when is the concert? |
obinodmx:Just checked out the website. Pretty cool. |
ibkaye:Co-sign that. Attack of the clones |
lalaboi:My thing is, if you don't like the artist, then don't say anything or alternatively, diss once, make your point and move on. This guy just goes all over the web dissing the guy. Maybe he's trying to get a rise out of RapJunkie, i don't know, but he should realize that Junkie isn't the only fan K16 has on NL. Apart from that, it's all love. Meanwhile, Lala, is your show sorted out for this week? |
l.a.t.o:Well said |
osasp:Osasp = K16 dickryder. It's shoved all the way in. How does it feel? Surely you must have something better to do with your time than patrolling the web dropping negative K16 comments everywhere. You even joined his fanpage on facebook, to tell him he sucked. NOT GOOD. You don't like him, we get it. But some of us do, so F off. |
ibkaye:If you have something to say, just say it. |
yoji:What a load of bollocks. So because it's a club banger as you put it, it has to be completely brain dead. What makes it worse, is that they are all saying exactly the same thing. Moet, chineke me, unu ga egbu madu, etc. Creative originality and meaningful lyrics will always win out long term. These artists might have one hit record, but that's it. Personally, i can't wait for the chaff to go and the new wave to begin. This is not the musical legacy Nigeria should be showing to the world. Shout out to 2face. The only artist who consistently writes songs, not club sound bites. |
what the ?? how can this post have 904 views? It was only posted today and not a single reply. Lalaboi, explain |
lol, really funny. Nice Post |
ibkaye:Meaning what exactly? |
This tune is sick. |
tee-blaq:Not as wack as your "we go make am" track. Now that's, Wacckkkk. |
Tight. Nice lyrics |
All i can say to Wande Coal (if the gist is true) , Don't bite the hand. |
