Erm, what excactly is a sketch show? I'm thinking about drawings, I'm probably wrong tongue
Lol, just a bit. A sketch show is like a collection of different short comedy situations seamlessly running together. So for example, you could have the ameobi thing, followed by say the 419 guy with hygiene problems, followed by the singer with no talent that can't take a hint, shei you get?

Anyway, i sense that's not your main area of expertise, but just an idea sha.

Yeah the girl is good. Did a google search, didn't get anything. Will keep looking sha. As for breaker, he's a self-servicer. Whatever respect i had for saucekid is gone in light of the zara affair, so any comparison to K16 is disrespectful as far as I'm concerned.

Just listened to Amebo Radio, cool. So you have the comedy thing going as well. Ever thought about putting together a sketch show?
LiteratureRe: Ibkaye's Oral Story Haven by audio: 3:55pm On May 05, 2009
@ IbKaye, i've got to admit, i'm really pleasantly suprised. I've read your posts on the music forum and they've been, how shall we say, not entirely representative.

I absolutely adore storytelling, when well written. Your good. However, i feel that i should give you some feedback as the reader if that's okay.

I do not get a sense of the length of the story. Is it a short story, a book, a spoken part series meant for radio, etc
If i knew, it will help explain the jumps in the timeline.

The space between the introduction of Motunrayo and the rape is too short. I didn't particularly feel any empathy towards her, because i hardly knew her.

Same goes for Akin, one minute he's an intense handsome loner desired by the women of the village, next minute he's a rapist and a wife beater.

The charachers need fleshing out. If we don't care about them, the story loses a lot of it's appeal. My two cents

No it's not by force, but as par the usual, when it comes to K16, it always " I don't like him" no logic or reasoning behind it. I'm really getting fed up to be honest. Am i the only one that can see how good this guy is or is there some sort of vendetta going on here. Anyway as far as i'm concerned, he is going to blow, with or without Nairaland.

I don't believe this, the topic is called, TERRY G IS ON DRUGS and you say no one is being slated. So basically, from your definition, i can say whatever i like without proof and it's fine, as long as you're happy with it.

So if i started a topic saying Lalaboi is Gay, will you delete that one or leave it? After all, nothing stops you from being gay. Don't you even do any kind of credibility check.?

Is is because it's Naija? You live in London like i do. You know there is no way you can make an allegation like that on any website here and get away with it.
Music/RadioRe: Terry G Is On Drugs!?? by audio: 2:17pm On Apr 29, 2009
@ Informant.
You have not offered a single iota of proof to back up what your saying. People think that because they are on a forum and their identities are secret, they can say what they like. Worse still, not one single person is questioning what he's saying.

Has it occured to anyone here, that informant might have personal beef with Terry and has decided to come and slur him on Nairaland? Like mugu's, you're all lapping it up.

Show some proof Informant or the thread should be deleted. Of course Lalaboi is supposed to be doing that, but he's joining in. So much for rules

The same thing haters have been shouting about modenine. For God sake, let MI do it the way he knows how to do it . . . Must everybody go POP to make it?
You misunderstand Mr Javalove. Listen to all the top hiphop acts. Any of them. Take your pick. Busta, 50, anybody. It's not just punchline after punchline, because that's boring. They are all telling stories, bragging, whatever, but it's more about intelligent wordplay. Not just putting together a string of punchlines. Yes it's dazzling at first, but then it's like, what else you got. The truely great hiphop records (Stan: eminem, one more chance:biggie, In the club: 50, Big Pimpin: Jay Z, etc) do not rely  on punclines but memorable storylines

Stop thinking every comment that is not "MI is the greatest" is someone hating on him.

@audio

verily from my comments too, i dnt think we can hurriedly label MI the messiah and agree wt u in that light but i believe he is good in his own right.
likewise, i dnt think this trend of always sayin we dnt hv acts the way we have the likes of jay-z, 50cents, rick, jada, eminem and the rest in the west comes into this. this is naija and the rules here differs. we dnt hv to follow d line of argument of our politicians that cos it cost more in US to buy a gallon of gasoline therefore petrol prices shld be increased as well while ignoring the social security and healthcare system obtainable there. the genre of rap demand here is slightly different.

presently, there are a lot of acts some are good bt nt well managed and i guess thats where the hype of MI is coming from, its nt easy staying around for a long tym in naija music if u cant do more than just delievring lyrics especially for rap artistes.

Is MI the messiah of rap music in naija? i dont agree yet as well until he proves more to me but to say he aint good at all, i think its rather not objective enuf. the current climate could hv helped him bt its same wt other acts who hv nt been able to exploit it as well to make  a name and take over. he deserves some applause and surely he can only get better if he really wants to stay long on the scene.

i guess it's matter of tym
Good Response. And for the record, i never said he was not good at all. Anybody with a fanbase as big as his whether its by luck or design has got to be good. For longevity and the headline shows though, i think he will need to focus on more than just punchlines and rhyming words for the sake of it (my major gripe with him). And he will definitely need a hit track that appeals to the masses. Anyway, i'm sure he's working on it, so we'll see what happens. At least now we have 3 people to talk about not just 2.

@ Mailmac. Your comments are noted.

are u really minding those HATING the poor guy?

well, MI for me has done great though i dnt think dt makes him a messiah yet. is he being over-hyped? well, i guess his PR team are doing their jobs to make sure he not only delivers lyrics bt also get rewarded for it wt commercial success. i'v seen him on stage just once at this year's rythmn unplugged and he was fairly well accepted especially when pple were pissed off wt the poor organisation of the show which started well toooooo late. i hv his album which i actually bought to see what it is abt him dt pple were talking about cos the only track i'd appreciated prior to dt was the 'safe' and 'area' which were played on radio and i can say he's okay and his illegal music which i'v heard 3 tracks from sounds gud enuf too bt i think he still need be tested b4 saying he's messiah bt for pple nt to appreciate his efforts yet - i guess its simply HATING. some pple find it hard to accept fact some artiste are gud and combine commercial success wt watever dey do - no wonder MI feels he'l b the artiste to make chocolate city's bank account blow!

The guy is good - u dnt necessarily hv to accept but u can do urself a favour by not HATING or betterstill kip the HATE to urself.
I guess the bottom line is, wether he is good or not, he has no real competition. It's not like Yankee where there is Jay Z, Kanye, Nas, Lil Wayne, Plies, 50, Jadakiss, Rick Ross, etc all battling it out. In Naija, it's RuggedMan, Mode 9 or MI and the other 2 have been around for ages. People are tired.
In fact, we don't even have enough MC's for a HipHop awards show. Hopefully, he'll open the doors for other acts.

Frankly am sick of people throwing baseless accusations concerning a fake american accent and some how inserting Mi's name some where in the post, I've know MI from Adam and he has always talked with his "fake american accent", well can you blame him? when he attended mostly American schools in Nigeria and did the majority of his college years in Michigan, Calvin College to be precise. Usually children tend to get their accents from the people  around them, If you don't like him-fine. Different strokes for different folks. The fact that Owerri wasn't receptive to him, don't mean he aint the shit in 9ja, I'll tell you what EVEN BEYONCE's show can flop, There is no celebrity that EVERYBODY in the world likes.I guess thats just a slacker on the side of his manager for getting him a show in a place where they had no market.
Most 9ja people like their traditional music , thats why D'Banj, Eldee and all the like are there, If you don't like his music, Don't buy his CD.Lets face it people MI is the best 9ja rapper that ever stepped into the music thresholds.
Interesting reply. May i ask you who your top 10 MC's of all time are. Any country. Since you think MI is the best Naija rapper to ever step into the threshold, it will be interesting to see what your standards are.

Don't get me wrong. I wish the guy every success. He has helped put hiphop back on the map which is good. He has also shown that naija is hungry for hip hop. But you all seemed to have settled on a standard, which i think is just average. But when there is no alternative, that is always the case. In yankee and Europe, there are at least 20 -30 MC's at the top of their game battling it out. In Naija, we have only MI. The trip to Owerri is a sign of things to come if he doesn't change his game up. He hasn't got a hit track yet. Something that appeals to the masses. Without the masses, you can't survive for long in Naija.

They get that kind of response cos they speak long grammar. They would fare better if they improve their rhymes and move to oyibo man land.
As for M.I, methinks he's trying to act kanye west.
LOL, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, take your pick. Don't get me wrong, he's not bad. But the messiah status he's getting, for me, is a bad reflection on the state of Naija hiphop. We are way better than that. Unfortunately, the music business is expensive. No matter how good you are, it's the ones that have money for Payola that everybody gets to hear. The down side is, the majority of them seem to be crap. Fake american accents everywhere, when we all speak pidgin, english and indeginous languages. I tire

IT is true O that you have conquered Lagos doesn't mean that U hav conquered Naija. MI is a talented rapper and performer. I think he can play both the commercial side and purist hiphop. The truth about music is that it is subjective. It is not so much about your talent but the size of your buzz. I mean look at Olu manitain back in the day there were times he got stoned with pure water but look at him now. I believe if MI works on his buzz in Owerri and goes back there, he will tear it up!!
So what exactly does that mean? You don't need talent anymore or good music for that matter, just the hype? I thought it was supposed to be the other way round. I thought it was your talent that brought the hype.
The truth is, MI is overhyped. He really isn't that good. There has been no clear superstar this year (like 9ice last year) and naija people in the absence, have chosen MI and papered over all the obvious cracks.
But remember, Lagos is not Naija. People keep forgetting that. Because BellaNaija and all the girls in VI think your hot, it doesnt mean you've now conquered the nation.

D'Banj can rock anywhere, because he has done his homework and his album  encompasses the nation. He also has several HIT Records. MI on the other hand has none. The music business is built on hit records.

I grew up in Owerri. MI can buzz all he likes, but people there are not interested in lyrics like "sick like syphillis" . Like i keep saying. Don't believe the Hype

mr_me_too:
Ok first off, we have a LOT more talented artists than those. Then IMO, I'm not all that worried of any crash of the industry whatsoever cos all these songs we have around nowadays are just a sign of how well the music industry is doing and as long as ppl still buy and enjoy that kind of music, they'll keep filling the airwaves and shelves. The good thing though is there are still a number of artists that stand out, I could mention a couple, so if one gets tired of the cookie cutter stuff out there, there are still quite a number of options to escape to.

Many people don't know what they want, they claimed 2face's album lacked party songs so many didn't even give it a chance now ppl are tired of those kinds of songs. I suggest ppl take time to listen to certain artists, sometimes good music takes time to be appreciated. We've become very lazy in listening, we just respond to beats and this in turn has made most artists lazy with their production.
Very well said
