same old Mode 9. I wish he'll do something out of his comfort zone |
hahahaha, you niggaz is crazy. Only on nairaland can a translation thread finish as a sexuality thread. . |
ibkaye:Lol, just a bit. A sketch show is like a collection of different short comedy situations seamlessly running together. So for example, you could have the ameobi thing, followed by say the 419 guy with hygiene problems, followed by the singer with no talent that can't take a hint, shei you get? Anyway, i sense that's not your main area of expertise, but just an idea sha. |
Yeah the girl is good. Did a google search, didn't get anything. Will keep looking sha. As for breaker, he's a self-servicer. Whatever respect i had for saucekid is gone in light of the zara affair, so any comparison to K16 is disrespectful as far as I'm concerned. |
Just listened to Amebo Radio, cool. So you have the comedy thing going as well. Ever thought about putting together a sketch show? |
@ IbKaye, i've got to admit, i'm really pleasantly suprised. I've read your posts on the music forum and they've been, how shall we say, not entirely representative. I absolutely adore storytelling, when well written. Your good. However, i feel that i should give you some feedback as the reader if that's okay. I do not get a sense of the length of the story. Is it a short story, a book, a spoken part series meant for radio, etc If i knew, it will help explain the jumps in the timeline. The space between the introduction of Motunrayo and the rape is too short. I didn't particularly feel any empathy towards her, because i hardly knew her. Same goes for Akin, one minute he's an intense handsome loner desired by the women of the village, next minute he's a rapist and a wife beater. The charachers need fleshing out. If we don't care about them, the story loses a lot of it's appeal. My two cents |
breaker:No it's not by force, but as par the usual, when it comes to K16, it always " I don't like him" no logic or reasoning behind it. I'm really getting fed up to be honest. Am i the only one that can see how good this guy is or is there some sort of vendetta going on here. Anyway as far as i'm concerned, he is going to blow, with or without Nairaland. Swagga on lock is the S*** |
breaker:It's your first post, so i'll assume your just trying to be controversial, because it's obvious that you didn't even listen to the record. If you did, then you should stop posting on this forum cause you have no idea what you're talking about. F***ing joker. |
jeff101:How old are you? Seriously. You need to go out into the real world a bit more |
@ topic, are you guys still on this. I thought this was like ages ago. He dissed Mode 9. It was a good diss, but he hasn't done anything since worthy of note. As far as i'm concerned, that's case closed. |
tight joint |
lalaboi:Totally, a little goes a long way. Shout out to Debosky for squashing the beef before it started. |
lalaboi:LOL, N**** Please. Not in this lifetime |
lalaboi:No probs, i wasn't saying you were a wasteman or anything like that, just didn't think it was fair to the dude. What different reply? lol |
lalaboi:I don't believe this, the topic is called, TERRY G IS ON DRUGS and you say no one is being slated. So basically, from your definition, i can say whatever i like without proof and it's fine, as long as you're happy with it. So if i started a topic saying Lalaboi is Gay, will you delete that one or leave it? After all, nothing stops you from being gay. Don't you even do any kind of credibility check.? Is is because it's Naija? You live in London like i do. You know there is no way you can make an allegation like that on any website here and get away with it. |
@ Informant. You have not offered a single iota of proof to back up what your saying. People think that because they are on a forum and their identities are secret, they can say what they like. Worse still, not one single person is questioning what he's saying. Has it occured to anyone here, that informant might have personal beef with Terry and has decided to come and slur him on Nairaland? Like mugu's, you're all lapping it up. Show some proof Informant or the thread should be deleted. Of course Lalaboi is supposed to be doing that, but he's joining in. So much for rules |
My advice, take it to the pros. It takes years to learn how to mix and master. I'm guessing you're not quite there yet |
even if she is Lesbian ( correct term), so what? This is 2009. She makes fabulous music |
Wordsmith:1. Do Me - P Square 2. Nice - Gongo Aso 3. The Entertainer Album (pick any song) - D Banj 4. Yahooze - Olu Maintain 5. Kini Big Deal - Naeto C Just a few. Will rock any party, club, gathering, whatever any day or any time in any part of Naija Please name the MI equivalent? |
javalove:You misunderstand Mr Javalove. Listen to all the top hiphop acts. Any of them. Take your pick. Busta, 50, anybody. It's not just punchline after punchline, because that's boring. They are all telling stories, bragging, whatever, but it's more about intelligent wordplay. Not just putting together a string of punchlines. Yes it's dazzling at first, but then it's like, what else you got. The truely great hiphop records (Stan: eminem, one more chance:biggie, In the club: 50, Big Pimpin: Jay Z, etc) do not rely on punclines but memorable storylines Stop thinking every comment that is not "MI is the greatest" is someone hating on him. |
@ topic I can assure you its not. Christ, i know this is a forum, but lets keep it real people. We are in 2009. People can verify stuff these days in seconds |
coolguyz:Good Response. And for the record, i never said he was not good at all. Anybody with a fanbase as big as his whether its by luck or design has got to be good. For longevity and the headline shows though, i think he will need to focus on more than just punchlines and rhyming words for the sake of it (my major gripe with him). And he will definitely need a hit track that appeals to the masses. Anyway, i'm sure he's working on it, so we'll see what happens. At least now we have 3 people to talk about not just 2. @ Mailmac. Your comments are noted. |
coolguyz:I guess the bottom line is, wether he is good or not, he has no real competition. It's not like Yankee where there is Jay Z, Kanye, Nas, Lil Wayne, Plies, 50, Jadakiss, Rick Ross, etc all battling it out. In Naija, it's RuggedMan, Mode 9 or MI and the other 2 have been around for ages. People are tired. In fact, we don't even have enough MC's for a HipHop awards show. Hopefully, he'll open the doors for other acts. |
Bonjeh:Na wah oh! did you even listen to the song? Killz more than held his own. Overall good track. The only one with MI i actually like so far. |
wanville:Interesting reply. May i ask you who your top 10 MC's of all time are. Any country. Since you think MI is the best Naija rapper to ever step into the threshold, it will be interesting to see what your standards are. Don't get me wrong. I wish the guy every success. He has helped put hiphop back on the map which is good. He has also shown that naija is hungry for hip hop. But you all seemed to have settled on a standard, which i think is just average. But when there is no alternative, that is always the case. In yankee and Europe, there are at least 20 -30 MC's at the top of their game battling it out. In Naija, we have only MI. The trip to Owerri is a sign of things to come if he doesn't change his game up. He hasn't got a hit track yet. Something that appeals to the masses. Without the masses, you can't survive for long in Naija. |
nuzo:LOL, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, take your pick. Don't get me wrong, he's not bad. But the messiah status he's getting, for me, is a bad reflection on the state of Naija hiphop. We are way better than that. Unfortunately, the music business is expensive. No matter how good you are, it's the ones that have money for Payola that everybody gets to hear. The down side is, the majority of them seem to be crap. Fake american accents everywhere, when we all speak pidgin, english and indeginous languages. I tire dammiecool:Got it. Thanks. Like i said. The music business is built on hit records. Unfortunately for Mode 9, the only one he has is not even his own. It's a feature |
dammiecool:I don't get. What do you mean by Jimmy's Stylee? ![]() |
Bonjeh:So what exactly does that mean? You don't need talent anymore or good music for that matter, just the hype? I thought it was supposed to be the other way round. I thought it was your talent that brought the hype. The truth is, MI is overhyped. He really isn't that good. There has been no clear superstar this year (like 9ice last year) and naija people in the absence, have chosen MI and papered over all the obvious cracks. But remember, Lagos is not Naija. People keep forgetting that. Because BellaNaija and all the girls in VI think your hot, it doesnt mean you've now conquered the nation. D'Banj can rock anywhere, because he has done his homework and his album encompasses the nation. He also has several HIT Records. MI on the other hand has none. The music business is built on hit records. I grew up in Owerri. MI can buzz all he likes, but people there are not interested in lyrics like "sick like syphillis" . Like i keep saying. Don't believe the Hype |
mr_me_too:Very well said |
The money for those shows helps support the growing Music industry, which is giving jobs to many people. Look at the bigger picture |
dejiariyo:True that. One of my girls went to that show, she said the crowd were not feeling him at all. Some people thought they were coming to see Nateo C afam4eva:Tell them oh. 140 million people that all live in Lagos. Abeg |
