rapjunkie:Thanks. But was the sacarsm really necessary? |
Where's the download link to the full EP? Where are you guys getting it from? |
rapjunkie:Well you're entitled to your opinion, but i think i called it correctly |
Lady Gaga is just trying to be the new Madonna, which takes some doing in 2010 since we think we've seen everything. Technically a very good video. Crisp choreography. The religious images are just for shock value. I won't take them too seriously. Good pop track. |
Mekdoss:True that. Here's my order: Naija stand up 1st: K16 (for obvious reasons) 2nd: Big Faz (based on lyrical content) 3rd: Unseen (very little gap, though) School Daze Ist: Unseen 2nd: K16 K16's lyrics were good, but i feel unseen had a better delivery |
tosinaded@:I don't often agree with Tosin, but today, he's spot on. Let the music do the talking. If their as hot as colomb is implying, then it should be no problem for them to blow. |
Can't fault any of the tracks. They make sense die as lalaboi will say. |
Please give me an Effing break. SAS what? So they've remembered their Nigerian now cause things are drying up in London. No doubt they can rap and they have the swag, but i hate the fact that these washed up rappers are now all rushing to come and hustle naija. When it looked like they were going to get signed to dipset, did you hear naija from their mouth? It was all London this London that. Make i hear word abeg. The track is just there. Nothing spectacular. |
Disreal Am:Of course. I felt DaGrin's death as we all did. But this particular tribute song didn't make me feel anything. I didn't feel sadder or happier. It was just there for me. |
Genuflect:It does indeed. I hope they get to perform. That's the key thing. TV exposure. |
Looking good. Hopefully it won't disappoint. |

Congratulations to both of them. It can only be good for the industry. With all the Buzz on Fela in the states now, i thought DBanj will get a nod, but alas maybe next year. |
A good tribute, but i didn't feel any emotion watching it. It didn't resonate. Maybe it's just me |
maedan:True, i agree. But Just Dance and Poker face were quite normal by these days standards. The thing with Gaga is, the videos are designed to make sure you do not ignore her and by default, listen to the songs. The songs themselves are really good. It's like a balancing act. One can't work without the other. Shock factor is nothing without the tunes to back it up. Many have tried and failed Her album has been in the Billboard charts for 71 weeks. She must be doing something right. |
eldee:lol, while agree with you to some degree, i find beyonce to be extremely calculating. She is what i call the ultimate manufactured artist. While her songs are technically good and she has the talent to pull it off, i don't feel any authenticity from her. Whenever there's a trend, she's on it. She saturates all the channels with videos and essentially forces you to like the track. Comparing her with Michael is an insult. Michael was the real deal. Most of the tracks he made were exclusively his. He was an innovator that others followed. Beyonce waits to see what is hot and then gets the Machine behind her to dominate and eliminate the rivals. When she can't dominate or eliminate, she does a collabo, to show she can match you at your own game. Slick strategy, sells plenty of records (no complaints in that department), but still leaves a bad taste in the mouth. On the other hand, Lady Gaga, completely fresh and original. Now everybody is on her swag, even Beyonce. |
ofokaofoki:K16 can obviously do better than OYA, but that doesn't mean it's not a very good track. The hook is one of it's strongest points. Like which track have you been listening to? |
@ Topic Watched the video. Very different and a real effort on the part of her and her record label. Very colorful and exciting. Beyonce knows Gaga is a real threat, so she's trying to attach herself to her. Show she can keep up with even the craziest of them. Keeps her relevant. In this current world populated with kids with no attention span, she keeps you watching from beginning to end. Well done i'll say. I don't think the specifics matter. She's obviously trying to be the Madonna of this generation. While in Madonna's time all you had to do was be semi naked or burn a cross, these days, that's nothing. More importantly, she makes hit record and can actually sing. |
eldee:Well yes and no. Another rapper dissing you, is like the gauntlet being thrown down for a duel. You can either win, lose or it will be considered a draw. In Ja Rule's case 50 + label mates, dissed Ja Rule. It was his inability to come back with a convincing reply (ie Rugged Man) that was his undoing. Plus, headz were already tired of him and his cookie monster flow. Speaking for myself, i was glad when he was gone. |
rapjunkie:I didn't say post it online, you can inbox me. Yes boss. Ofoka, you don come again now. I've told you, if you stop taking your medication, they're will be side effects. You start seeing and hearing things, not good. |
Good Topic Razur, I agree with you. If you leave a non positive comment, your a hater/enemy. Artists seem to make beef records now, for no reason other than to raise their profile or for money. Correction to previous poster: 50cent not Eminiem ended Ja Rules career. And their beef went back a long way. From before 50 even blew up. While beef/diss records are part of hiphop, there needs to be a background to it. Not just for the sake of it. While eminem did a lot of diss style records, his biggest singles, the ones that won him all the awards and accolades were not. His talent was without question. Hiphop is competitive, but if you base your career on short term diss records fame. You won't last long in the game. Have more to say, but my fingers are tired. As for the RM status, very disappointing. He had a chance to respond to DeathBlow on wax, but he blew it. Now it's like he's almost begging for a rematch, cause now, he's the one that needs it more. |
@ Topic Okay, i've tried to keep quiet and ignore, but please, someone tell me, what is the point of this useless thread? I mean like honestly. This is giving Nairaland a bad name. Making us look like a bunch of jokers. Frijos and your various aliases, it's not be force. You're now getting desperate. Please, this is the music section. No one gives a flying f*** what sex you stick your d*** into. Abeg. |
@ H.J. just listened to the 10 for 2010 mixtape. I can't believe it didn't catch your fancy. Those guys are on fire. They're flows and lyrics are both awesome and original. I'm really impressed. They are the best 10 |
@ Junkie, what exactly is your connection to K16? How come you guys are so pali pali all of a sudden or is it as par your new status as Nairaland celebrity mixtape maker ? Please put Ofoka out of his misery abeg. Plus, if you already have the Tribute to the South EP, share with boys now. How far? |

Rhymstein:I never said he didn't. But he uses them for effect and to enhance the storyline of the song, not just one after the other after the other. For everyone requesting download links to the mixtapes, i'll locate and post. Never fear |
rapjunkie:Yeah, waiting for that one. FREE ME JOR is off that and it's a monster track. |
DBR:In my opinion, it's the same affliction that hits a lot of hot street rappers. Commercial rap is very different to battle rap or punchline freestlyes. you need to make a SONG. Something commercial, cross demographic and catchy. A lot of rappers have no idea how to do that. So while everybody will be shouting in the blogs " he killed that guy, he killed this guy", the money men know he's not signable cause he doesn't have what it takes to be AN ARTIST. |
Eldee, good post. Thanks for putting me on to J Cole. Good lyricist, good image. He should blow. Notice how he actually flows with the rhyme. Not punchline olympics like our naija copycats do. |
