@ topic. Frankly, i don't appreciate the whole smear campaign currently going on with Terry G. He is repetitive yes, he may do drugs yes,but he makes hit records. At least he's being himself and he doesn't hide. I don't understand how you can pay someone in advance and then not like the product afterwards. By paying 100% in advance, you're basically saying "anything you give me is fine" because you've already paid. Nobody does that in the music biz. Even i know that. Normally, the producer will do the beat and mix it and send you a 40sec to a minute sample. If you like it, you pay up and get the whole thing. If you don't like it, you specify your changes. When they are implemented, then you pay up. No wahala. Paying everything up front doesn't make sense. Frankly, if i was capable of doing a beat and did one for someone where he paid upfront, he better be in the studio when i'm making it, cause time is money and i'm not going to spend hours and hours trying to satisfy every little whim. @ seemama. you're obviously the artist. Don't give yourself a bad name in this industry before you start. Terry G may be wounded, but he's by no means defeated. He can be a powerful enemy |
;d ;d ;d |
khanye:Nah, it's his flow. He doesn't end his rhyme on the bar. Sometimes he spills it. That's what i actually like the most. |
Hold up, i'll hook you up |
![]() @ Khanye, on the real, what do you think of the gbedu? |
tosinaded@:Well lets break your post down shall we. First, you say something in Yourba. To ensure that only Yourba people understand it. Then you say "he should better go and be singing igbo songs" as if thats some form of lower music that will probably suit him, since according to you, you hate him He already raps in ibo, so why metion it? What's it got to do with the music? If he's good he's good, if he's bad, he's bad. What has him being ibo got to do with it? I know you are a big 9ice fan, which explains the hate factor. Misguided, but it at least explains it. The ibo comment is because you're a tribalist. At least have the guts to admit it. |
tosinaded@:So Tosinaded, finally you comment on this thread and it's a tribalistic hate comment. I pray that God salvages your mind from it's ignorance. It's people like you that drag the world backwards. ibkaye:An objective comment Ibkaye. As Intelligent Nigerians, that's all we crave for. Music is subjective. We could lock 10 people in a room and play the same track to all of them. If you ask them if they like the track, most likely, everybody will tell you something different. The key thing is to be objective with your response. I personally like K16's flow. It might seem off, but it totally works for me. I will convert as many people as possible to help the guy. |
He's doing a lot of viral promo for this song. Not quite sure where it fits in though. Not sure it will rock naija dance floors and i can't see it breaking any new ground in Yankee. The one setup scene for the video is boring. Not quite sure the song matches the level of posing, but still cool. |
timmynaija:Good luck with that. Should be a good one if it happens |
ibkaye:Lol, i withdraw my earlier comment to you then. You're too easily swayed anyway. Seems you can't even stick to your own words. More like follow the popular vote. Quite disappointing. lalaboi:Lalaboi, the beauty of a forum, is that everybody gets to say what they like. You obviously don't like the guy. Fair dues. It's really isn't by force. Maybe you can't get over the 9ice diss or maybe you really don't like his style. Any which way, the guy is going to blow. I'm starting a London street team, do you want to join? hahahahah, not. ![]() |
ibkaye:Well ibkaye, (welcome back by the way), compared to your previous K16 comment on his freestyle, this is a marked improvement. Keep listening, his style will grow on you. |
Mr Junkie. I salute. Saw your comments on the notjustok thread re K16. Nice one. It seems some people just can't get over the 9ice thing or even worse, can't understand good hiphop cause they've heard so much crap (lalaboi no offense). Just dey holla. |
Taiya baby, i want me some of that. Lol. Nice pic. I get it. |
Sounds like a straight 9ice photocopy to me. But tune is still cool. |
Go to www.nigerianhiphop.net. They have quite a few free mixtapes by top DJ's. Latest naija joints |
she alright. She's trying to do the Sade thing. Not a good photocopy, but still pretty decent. |
lalaboi:I'm not ignoring them, they're just kinda repetitive. Although i will say you've been doing a good job recently trying to head the threads off, so kudos for that. Interesting analysis on K16. Always cool to hear a non fans opinion. Music is always subjective, so i don't expect him to be to everybodies taste. But, his accent is definitely not proper village ibo (lay off the blaze man, you're hearing things) and he is definitely not dropping words for the sake of it. Actually, no words are wasted cause he always tells stories in a 3 part sequence. It's not punchlines galore like MI for example, but more of a busta or a slick rick or a big daddy kane. He is not average (in my opinion) I've heard a lot of rap coming out of naija and they pretty much all try to sound American and try to cram in as many punchlines as possible. Sometimes, they're isn't even a point to the rap, just i'm like this or i'm like that. His style is different. He does not sound like anybody i've heard. Iyabo for example is a tale about a girl whose lost her soul to prostitution. Swagga on Lock is about a good night out from dressing up to when the club closes. Na Wah for you is about a guy trying to beg his girl not to leave him for cheating on her, but at the same time telling her to back off. Don't Go you've obviously heard, so you know what it's about. My Rating is Originality: 4/5 Flow: 3.8/5 Lyrics: 4/5 All he needs is exposure to the masses and the rest will be history. Ikuku Records you guys should start paying me oh, lol |
lalaboi:Still waiting!!!!!! Meanwhile, lalaboi, all the topics on here are dead man. Didn't switch camp from AHH for this. What's poppin? |
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha, hahahahahahahahaha. Too funny |
lalaboi:This should be interesting |
asha 80:I wonder. |
downloading it now (off i tunes before you ask). Will give my verdict later |
Hoh-Dee:His problem is his label. He needs to leave there fast |
sunnykiss:Don't knock naija female rappers, they're trying their best. If only they dropped the fake american accents and rapped normally so we can understand what they're saying (ie mo cheddar), i'm sure they'll be much better |
Fine, i'll clear it up. First of all, you are baseing your comment on the traditional rhyme format that you are accustomed to, similar to the example you have laid out. Each bar fitting nicely into it's own line. But that's part of the reason i like K16. His flow is similar to a busta rhymes or a twister. Rhymes overlapping into other bars and things that don't seem to fit, making sense at the end. Grates: Means to really annoy Swagga: Means your personal style, your persona, your aura So he is saying, i know that it really annoys you, that my style is so great, that you can't even force me to make a mistake, to have a reason to make me back down. I'm the king of this now. If you no like am, make you go chop shit. I no dey quit, etc Hope this clears it up. By the way, i meant no offence with my earlier comment. Perhaps i was quick to judge. Perhaps if you listen to the track and the flow, you'll appereciate it more. |
dejiariyo:First of all, go and learn how to speak english properly. Maybe then, it will become clear to you. Okay |
i know that it grates/ that my swagga is so great/that you can't even force me to make a mistake/ to have leverage to make me back down/i'm the king of this now/ if you no like am make you go chop shit/i no dey quit/understand me i no go quit/ Habba. K16: Swagga on Lock |
Bassline:Yeah, Don't Go is good. Ikuku Records need to up their game. These days time waits for nobody. He'll be there now and somebody will bite his style and launch it before him. |
rapjunkie:I mean that although Zara's camp might be overhyping the whole thing, it does't mean that what they're saying isn't true. It's not as if Saucekid is denying it. |
rapjunkie:I think lalaboi will rather die than admit that. I hardly said anything about Saucekid , so whats your point? There's no smoke without fire. |

??
