Cool it Bouzy, I've known K'naan for years.

As of last year, a venue like Cargo is just about K'naan's level of fame. Thats the point.

Dont get it twisted. Ive never been a Modey hater. Performing @ Cargo may be a step forward but its not commensurate with Modey's level of fame/name recognition. . . . my mindset was actually that if Cargo represents a triumph after years of establishing yourself, then perhaps Naija HipHop is not that lucrative. . . . I even said that "Modey surely deserves better". . . it was these stans that jumped in all defensive and turned the debate into something else.
Have you ever been to CARGO? The venue has history. International acclaim. In Nigeria, there are no dedicated music venue's that have been around for years, so i don't think you'll appreciate the significance of Mode9 performing there.
Kaan'an has performed there, he is now an international star. Nneka has performed there and she just opened for NAS and Damien Marley for their London show. Do a search and you'll see the caliber of artist that has passed through there.
London is not Nigeria where his main fanbase is. Plus he's not doing Timaya music, which is what brings out the masses. This show is for hiphop heads. I think the venue is perfect.

the best Nigerian UK artise is: KAS!!!!!!!!!!
LOl, don't think so, the best Nigerian artist in the UK hands down (now that Tillaman is in Nigeria) is K16 without a doubt. The fact that he is not well know is his only hindrance right now, but he's going to blow up big.
This is the link to his current record. I'm not sure how to post it directly

Okay, i'm not particularly a Mode 9 fan, but this is ridiculous. In case anyone hasn't noticed, Mode9 is headlining. Headlining, not tagged on to a show where the Headline is DBanj or Wande or Terry G and so on. Headlining

It's a rap show, now how often do you see those. Ibime, you don't know what you're talking about, so with all due respect, leave this one.
It's not about the size. Although Cargo's size is still good. Cargo is not Planet Nollywood or some other Naija clubs where MOST Of the hip hop Acts that come to london perform. Cargo is a venue with years of history. Who knew Kaan an last year, well who doesn't know him now. If Mode9 gets even a quarter of his fame, as a fan, won't you be happy for him?
Please be happy for the guy and the event. For me, it's quite a big deal and i'm really looking forward to it.

I dont think you know cargo is, Do you think cargo is a small club in london , its not even your typical Nigerian club in london and that is why so far majority of pple who have bought the tickets aint even Nigerians,Cargo is a club in london where international artiste have gone to perform.I guess this is another Pull Him Down (P.H.D) syndrome.

Most of the Naija acts that come to the U.K except dbanj and psqaure dont actually get to play in a big club like cargo, yu see most of them in them small Nigerian clubs and now its a sin for modenine to perform in a club. I tire o
Please tell them bros

Naija Uk all stars? Is this a joke? Please their insulting real artists with this crap. For everybody reading this, with the exception of JJC, nobody there is an all star anything.

Its a shame that one of the most well known rapper in Naija should be celebrating a performance @ Cargo. . . . Modey surely deserves better. . . . Im not sure you can fit up to 1000 people in Cargo. . . . by the time dem pay for hotels, flights etc, I dont think this will be a money spinner somehow. . . .
I don't think it's a shame at all. Cargo is a well known music venue. Lots of international artists have performed there. In fact Kaan'an performed there just before the world cup. I don't know how it is in naija, but there aren't too many shows in London for Hiphop purists featuring Nigerian artists. I personally will be looking forward to seeing K16 and Pryse who i really like as well.
Music/RadioRe: Modenine To Perform In London by audio: 3:49pm On Jul 19, 2010
Duh, click any of the links and see. But to help you just in case, it's on the 27th of July support is from K16 (who we know) and Shadez the misfit (who i don't know, but sounds okay) Pryse, unseen, mo eazy & king david (hmmm, suspect), Big faz (was on Naija stand up) and Taiya Soul

It's on a Tuesday, but i'm still going. Can't say i've been to a naija hiphop show in London, so this fits the bill nicely.
Music/RadioRe: D'prince - Jonzing World With Jesse Jagz & Wizkid by audio: 3:35pm On Jul 15, 2010
This constant argument over naija club bangers and lyrics. Me i've given up. As long as the beat is good, nobody cares about lyrics. Thats the honest truth. You could be saying i S*** on your head everyday and people will still dance to it and people will still come on Nairaland and say it's the best jam ever.
Some are on Payola, some work for management companies. If you can't beat them, put the radio off, cause that's all you'll be hearing.
Music/RadioRe: "The Nigerian Hip Hop Star (Nneka) Hailed As The Next Big Thing"- Cnn by audio: 3:28pm On Jul 15, 2010
I'm a big Nneka fan, but since when did she become HipHop for god's sake? It's like if you're black, then you're hip hop. She's more neo soul with a rock edge
Music/RadioRe: "distant Relatives" By Damian Marley And Nas by audio: 3:26pm On Jul 15, 2010
The best album of the year so far, in any genre.
Music/RadioRe: Call Me A Hater, But I'm Gonna Speak My Mind. by audio: 1:45pm On Jul 05, 2010
Nigerians should just be happy that P Square and MI were even nominated. That is 100% progress. Believe me, the people that matter noticed and they will have surely also noticed the significant rise in viewing figures. But to call the BET awards wack because you waited up to see PSquare and MI is laughable. An awards show is about money and Best international artist will hardly send pulses racing, so it will be done off camera.
I really wish people could do just a bit of research before they open their mouths to chat bullocks. It reflects badly on you

@ Audio, We're retarded for asking who the chap is? You done lost your damn mind!
Funny how people think their musical taste makes them more music-savvy than the next person. Who gives a funk what you listen to? Tsk.

Anyways, really don't care if P-square or M.I won. But someone supposedly did win for "International acts", which I definitely didn't catch on TV during the Award show, it's in order to ask who the person is.
Never said it made me more savy, if i don't know someone, i empower myself with knowledge before i start talking. That's why we have search engines. Dizzie Rascal a UK grime rapper turned mainstream won the award.
Music/RadioRe: What Ever Happened To The Bet Award For Psquare,mi Etc by audio: 12:02am On Jun 29, 2010
eldee:
I don't think either M.I or P-square, but Dizzie Rascal isn't even the best in the UK.
He can't hold a mic next to Bashy/Giggs.

I think it should have gone to K'naan or Corrine Bailey Ray.
K'naan has had a good year, and has a big international single out,so maybe him. Corrine Bailey Ray hasn't really got anything out that's big right now. I'm actually pretty shocked SADE was overlooked. I mean, she's a big artist and her album did well, but i guess that's the biz. Congrats to Dizzie though. He does oyibo music now, but he's selling.

Bros stay one place make we hear word. Truth be told, M.I. deserved the award. Dizzie Rascal my foot. Who bloody cares if he is well known or not. Who are the viewers who chose the winner? Rubbish angry angry angry angry angry angry
I rest my case.
Music/RadioRe: What Ever Happened To The Bet Award For Psquare,mi Etc by audio: 2:47pm On Jun 28, 2010
My God. How ignorant can you Nigerians be? I mean really? If you don't know who Dizzie Rascal is, it shows how one dimensional and limited your musical taste or knowledge is. Google him. That's what it's there for. The question you should be asking is, who knows PSQuare in Yankee or outside Africa as for MI, please give me a break. Did you guys even see who the other nominees were? They didn't stand a chance.
As for the Voting, it clearly stated on the page, that these were UNOFFICIAL figures and that the only award being decided by voting was the Viewers Choice award. But my guess is, you retards didn't even bother reading.

Please i beg you, stop embarassing yourselves and other Nigerians with your obviously, i have no brain comments. Jeez

Dude, Igho works according to how much you pay him. He said so himself. I've watched madt videos he directed for himself and other artists so I don't know whachu talking about
And how could you possibly know this? Are you his guy? If you are, tell him he could have done much better with this job. Even if money was tight, that's where his creativity comes in. Clarence frequently does low budget videos, but they still come out looking glossy. Fire by Skuki case in point.

javalove:
IF HE SHOOTS VIDEOS, NO CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISMS
Just watched it. My honest opinion, it's okay, but below the standard of the rap videos coming out now. Case in point, Beazy's BAD GUY video. The difference is quite clear.

Mode's first video off Davinchi Mode was very poor. He needed to come back with a definitive statement. This isn't it. The change of wardrobe is not a bad idea, but the clothes looked a bit ill fitting. In other words, they weren't making him look like a star.
Also, there was virtually one background throughout the whole video. No variety, so gets a bit boring after the 1st minute.
MoCheddah did what she could, but there really wasn't very much to work with. IGHO has really gone downhill. It seems if he isn't shooting his own video, he doesn't put any effort into it.

Doesn't do anything to enhance the song. A 2/5 for me.

the  problem with Nigeria is that we choose the wrong people for important jobs. . . . eldee is a moderater for NL . . . .Kaita is an international football player for Nigeria.

Where is Lalaboi? In fairness he was not exactly Mr efficiency, but he was much better than this guy

Well, I've seen M.I live . . . play another card.
As I said, I don't have time for this . . . you can continue discussing with your clones, I've got Kaita to attend to.
Well i have to admit, Kaita does need seeing to. Oya go. As for your other comments, if you didn't have time, why did you come in the first place? You never have anything positive to say, so why comment at all. The guy is good. He will blow either way.

[/b]Besides you should be happy that I'm helping you promote your guy, it saves you time wasted on a new username.
So out of everything you said here, not even one word about the actual topic. I thought this was a music forum. The purpose being to discuss music and all it's intricacies. If you must comment at least comment on the music as well. Conspiracy theories can come later.

In fact mekdoss said on this thread that k16 was rapping like Busta Rhymes
People can always find a similarity between rappers. I don't think that is recycling as you have put it.
He actually said
Mekdoss:
My own favorite track is joyride. The beat is just crazy and he is rapping like busta rhymes.
He was referring to one specific track, not the whole EP. Anyway, na you get your mouth. I agree with the rest of your reply so no yawa.

everyone is happy for k16, even me that i used to like unseen more than 16,,
when you are good you are good! , even the hardest of critics cant even criticise u, i pray k16 comes twice as hard in the album, if he does, he goes str8 to the A-list!!!! junkie na liehuh
It's very true. As you rightly said, he is standing on his own. Normally, what we get is recycled american rappers in Nigerian bodies. We have our own sean paul (pype), jay Z (vector), Lil wayne/ kanye (MI), TI (Twizzle), Sean Kingston (Wizkid), etc. so good to see some innovation and originality. The more i listen the more i like it.
