ofokasibe:So Sauron is Magnum, wonders shall never cease. How come it's like common knowledge on here? |
MrCrackles:Na wah oh. Mr Crackles, your mentality represents everything that's wrong with Nigeria. Like i said before, may God help us. |
I think i prefer this one to the original. Like the beats and the vocal mix. Nice one. Keep them coming. Whose BA Nusance though? Never heard of him. |
@topic, XP definitley, but either way, microsoft get paid. |
This is really scary, Nigeria is slowly but surely heading into a downward spiral. We have no leadership. I say make Governor Fashola president. He is the only governor right now that is doing anything worthy of note. These leaders have absolutely no shame whatsoever. They embezzle without conscience and prioritize the destruction of anything that challenges them in any manner. We have the Niger Delta situation, Nationwide kidnapping, massive unemployment, No lights Roads or Water and this is what they're worried about. God help us |
essy1:While we continue support barbarism, Nigeria will never progress. If he was contracted for 3 days work and the 3 days were up, he is free to leave. That should be a lesson to the producers to be better organized. Can you see this same situation happening on any hollywood set? I definitley think not. Any personal dislike of Jim Iyke is not the issue here. I'm not crazy about the guy either, but i think it is very bad that something like this can still happen in this day and age, only in Naija. |
javalove:LOl, nairaland is just fun. It has no reflection on real life. Someone posted a May7en topic a while back and it sank without a trace, meanwhile, she gets shows and is on radio and Tv in naija. On the flip side, the most obscure and crappy threads get a thousand views. Don't get it twisted. We just come on here to fool around, talk about Mode 9, ruggedman, MI and in my case K16 and maybe occasionally discover stuff. At least, that's what i do anyway. |
This is a bit unrelated, but i just stumbled upon what i think is Ibkaye's picture, honey is fine as hell. You deserve special treatment with looks like that. I won't argue with you again, ever ![]() |
lalaboi:Hmmm, can't think of any off the top, but i know what Ibikaye is saying. |
Just listened to Spartans by Mode9. Joint is banging. Lyrically, he is to me, the true MC. He should be the king in Naija. I know he doesn't care about blowing up huge or going commercial, but surely the bigger you are , the more people hear your shit. What can we do to help. Any suggestions? |
lalaboi:Treasure in you, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, i can't stop laughing, Oh my God, this almost makes up for me not going out tonight, please if you have any more, let me hear, hahahah, lalaboi, you have to start a thread |
MrCrackles:I rest my case, Hip hop is the streets, and you are the streets, lol osasp:Omo, you can say what you like, but then, so can i, does it shock you that he actually has fans? I like real hiphop, not what people are telling me to like. Out of curiosity, who do you think is a good rapper in naija now? MI not included, cause that's always everyones default and secondly, who do you think is better, big daddy kane or kool g rap. |
MrCrackles:So i was right, another hater. Let me guess, you're a big 9ice fan right |
MrCrackles:Mr Crackles, i will be interested in hearing why you think it's crap. Is it the beat, the lyrics, the hook, just want to decipher if you actually know anything about hiphop or if you're hating for hating sake. osasp:Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but please don't change it when he blows like Tosinaded did with MI. ibkaye:Ibkaye is right, lets keep it civilized. The guy will blow. I've seen him live now, so i'm totally convinced. When he gets on Radio in naija, the rest will be history. |
devimcy:Please, as an enlightned christian in 2009, i really expect more from my fellow Nigerian Christians. Some of you sound brainwashed. I have no doubt in my mind that if one these pastors in Nigeria instructs his followers to go and kill gay people they will actually go and do it. most gays in African set up are due to one cult or the other. some of us that know history very well can tell you how this so called gay n lesbian started. remember Jesus Christ said in the beginning it was not so. I'm almost sure you're on LSD, cause nothing else can explain this statement in logical terms The ignorance is stifling. When will Nigerians differntiate between scientific fact and religion, they are not the same thing. I guess the fossils showing that the world is billions of years old and not actually created in 7 days were also planted by some cult. Man i no post again. You guys are a lost cause. Educate your mind, don't use religion as an excuse for ignorance. |
honeric01:Jesus never said anything specific about Gay people, unless i missed it. Remember, it's not just God patrolling the earth, the devil is too. He might have invented the gay gene as his little party trick. Beastiality is not genetic, it's choice. Nobody grows up only attracted to animals, i mean come on, how old are you? Or will you say anything to try and prove your point. |
mccloud224:Here's and idea, why don't you and honeric form a little hunt party, track down all the gay people and kill them. That way, the world will be rid of this great man made sin. Oh and don't forget to kill all the gay priests too, wouldn't want them to escape, oh and all the little 10 year old boys just discovering their gay, make sure you make theirs especially painful. Yes i am a christian and i don't base my beliefs on the old testament. I base them on what Jesus said. He came down to make sure that every misinterpretation was corrected, straight from the Son of God himself. His words, love your neighbour as thyself. I don't recall it saying, "love your neighbour as thyself, except gay people, kill them" |
honeric01:All i can say is, thank God you're not president. I wouldn't like to live in a country with you in charge. |
honeric01:If you're homophobic, that's fine. You can make excuses from today till tomorrow, but that's what you are. Beastiality is a sexual fetish. It has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with your genes. Please prove me wrong by searching the vast internet and pasting just one article in this post that suggests beastiality has ties with genetic make up. mccloud224:Pedophilia (which by the way, is not the topic of discussion, but i'll allow it) also has genetic ties. It is wrong because it preys on young children. That's why its a criminal offence. I hope that answers your rather obvious question. Like i said, just thank God that your genetic make up is hetrosexual. Christianity is about love. Please practise what you preach |
Please fellow Nigerians, try not to be too ignorant in public. The internet is not just for Nairaland and Hotmail. Do some research before you come on forums and expose your reduced brain function to the world. Homosexuality has been around since the days of the Romans. I personally know 3 gay people. They've been gay since secondary school in Nigeria. They hated themselves and even self harmed to try and drive the devil out of them, because that's what those hypocritcal pastors and fellow students (the ones that weren't abusing them or spitting on them) were telling them. They only found peace when they left Nigeria and escaped to the west. It's a genetic defect. All of you on here sounding holier than thou could have been born gay. Just pray that you don't carry a latent gene that you can pass on to your children, Love your neighbour. They can't help the way they are. They need our support and acceptance. Not hate. You all sound like white supremacists talking about black people |
Finally saw K16 live last night. Very initmate gig at the School of Audio Engineering Year End Party and just 2 songs performed, but any doubts Nairaland had put in me were dispelled. Good live show (and it was totally live, Na wah for you was particularily good to hear live) and a good stage presence. Taiya soul did an accoustic song which was awesome as well. The guy definitely has my full (no more nairaland doubts) support. Lalaboi, Tosinaded, et al. |
lalaboi:I give up. You've made you're mind up. I'll leave you to it. ![]() |
lalaboi:Mr Audiophille, lol, that takes me back. All i'm saying is that hip hop is about realness. French rappers rap in French, German rappers rap in German, Ghanaian rappers rap in, (somebody help me out here), DaGrin raps in yourba. It's all hip hop We as Africans need to start believing in ourselves. We are a mega huge demographic. We don't need to rap like Americans to sound authentic. Mo Cheddah's accent is so fake, that i can't understand what she's saying. This defeats the whole object of the exercise. Same goes for Kel and tha Suspect although in lesser degrees. Check out a jam like Wetin Dey by Ruff Rugged and Raw. That record entered my soul like no 50 cent record ever can, because it was speaking directly to me. The beat, the lyrics everything about it was authentic african. Our artists should concentrate on conquering Africa. When they do that, the world will come calling. |
lalaboi:Lalaboi, a bit surprised by your comments, but i guess it's your point of view. First of all, hip hop has been around since 1981. It is a global form of music. It is not borrowed from anyone. Many people (i'm sure you included) have listened to hip hop there whole lives. If you decide to become a hip hop artist, does that mean you are still borrowing. As a Nigerian, if i want to hear someone trying to rap like Lil Wayne, i'll buy lil Wayne's album. He ain't dead yet. If i want to hear someone rapping like EVE (aka Sasha), i'll buy EVE's album, she's not dead yet either. Hip Hop is about realness. Rapping about what you know. The Message by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five in 1981 blew up with middleclass white kids, because it offered a window into a life in the ghetto that they knew nothing about. Rapping with a fake american accent is wack. Period. You've never lived there, hell some of them have never even been there, but they're trying to rap like they're from Brooklyn. It's as fake as they come The next African Rapper to go global will do so not because he/her is trying to photocopy, but because they will be offering the world a true window into Africa. Shakira was a huge artist in Latin America before she went global. When she blew up, she still sang in the exact same accent that she had always used. It offered her even more appeal, BECAUSE IT WAS ORIGINAL. Something severly lacking in naija. |
LOL, @ Frijos, you never give up. I like that. Keep hustling, but don't use every opportunity for self promotion. Why don't you build a website or MySpace and put your tracks there. Put it as a footer on your tag and people will be able to see it all the time. @ topic. I have been priviledged to see a few shows since i've been in London and i have to say, there is no comparison. The main problem with Nigeria is, they take the "if it's not broke, don't fix it" to the extreme. Same aplies to Nollywood. They just keep churning out the same shit. Only when someone raises the bar and recieves acknowledgment for it will things start improving. The only problem with that is, a lot of artists live careers will be over. |
obinna5000:I think you're missing the point. You don't have to bring a live band, but at least SING LIVE to your backing track. I was watching the Kennis Birthday/Easter jamboree on BEN TV. Bracket were performing Yori Yori. Problem was, there was only one mic and there 2 of them. Did that stop them, no way. They just carried on. They were singing each others parts, sometimes, the mic wasn't even to be seen, they just danced with the ladies in the crowd like some cheap nollywood film. Meanwhile, they're voices are blasting. I think the CD jamed at one point, but i can't confirm this. It was really pathetic. If these shows were all free, fine. But if you've paid, |
osasp:Interesting. , what is your definition of Hardcore as you put it? You can't compare MI and K16. They don't even have the same style. You can't use a one size fits all in hip hop. It's not how music works. You can't compare Outkast to The Game or Lil wayne to LL Cool J. MI is into the punchline thing. Kudos to him, that's his style. K16 tells a story with his rhymes. That's his style. Plus, K16 mixes pidgin with english and ibo. MI raps just in English. I could go on and on. K16 doesn't lack wordplay or go offbeat, his style is just not what your used to. I don't know the guy, but I'm a fan of his stuff. I still maintain he just needs to get his promotion in gear and hit naija. The masses will then decide. Everybody can't be MI or Mode 9 or Rugged. This time last year, nobody even knew who MI was, except on the blogs and you should see some of the comments he was getting on AHH. If he had listened to those guys, well i rest my case. |
opensesame:Very true. What's the point of paying good money to see someone mime? A taped TV appearance maybe (although that doesn't excuse Ikechukwu), but a live appearance, the CD should only have the PA backing track. The problem is, they will all get found out if they had to sing live, so none of them will take the risk. The beauty of a live performance, is that the artist can give you a remix, right there and then. It's an opportunity to be relished, not exploited. For me, if it ain't live, it ain't worth it. |
Clarence Peters work ethic seems really high. Not sure if that's personal connections or because of his talent per se. Either way, he seems to be top right now. Liked the last Knighthouse video the best. Solid video for a solid tune. If Jude Okoye is really the PSquare video director, then he deserves props as well. However, since no one else seems to want to hire him to do their video, he is suspect for now. DJ Tee, old news. I like the guy that did the last Nigga Raw video. It was different. All in all the, the games on the up. Long may it continue. |
lalaboi:LOL, you're right. It has come to pass that way. I'm a big hip hop fan. I love the music. For me, i could care less if your the flavour of the month, it's how the music makes me feel in the car or the train. K16's flow to me is unique. I can honestly say, i haven't heard it anywhere else. While a lot of rappers rhyme so that their 4th bar ends on the beat (the safety net), he just flows all over the beat, still keeping time. The mix of pidgin and english is flawless and i can hear everything he is saying clearly. The accent sounds real, not like the fake Americana so prevelant these days and each track has a different plotline. Don't want to go on and on, but eventually, he will blow and then people will start writing about him on this same Nairaland like he's some new artist. Me and you will know different though. All new fans are welcome. ![]() |

but will u term a jamaican singing almost perfectly in yooba unreal??
