yungboss: I must commend your efforts Mr. Hanson, thanks my dear , i'm flattered. Its been long since i heard you last. Also sorry i mean to say 8.4 second and not the other way. Ok, for the modification, my dealers crazy brother who resides abroad,by coincidence, who is also a car fanatic came up with some ideas, same thing he uses over there at the state in his 190 2.6 , 6 cylinder engine, called: Performance Cams, exahaust system to match with it and a throttle component like that: A kind of engine part that will make your engine rev very fast and work excellently in conjunction with performance exhaust system. He open my engine and reinstall those things expertly. The throttle tail was install outside the engine. i wasn't so nosy in those days to really pick on the whole show. All i was interested was the performance. First a small component was installed near the throttle tail of the engine , we tested it to ascertain the acceleration under 0 -100km/h and we got some significant shortening in seconds than before. he then install the performance cam in the engine, it was a whole days work . we tested it too and got significant lessening in seconds under the same 0-100 km/h. On another day the final part , the exhaust system was installed and waoh , another significance improvement was achieved all on the same road. From the calculation that added up to extra 22 hp but in his 2.6 he said he achieved something of far more than 204hp, Though i have lost contact wit him since. Boy the BMW i use to meet then were slow drivers, so no need to even go finding trouble, but one remarkable experience was with the honda ivtec, i couldn't believe my eyes the fit this 1980s model car made against the two thousand and something honda eod. It was amazing, at a point the very guy in the eod was frustrated, i think i published this in the fastest speed ever driven. Another remarkable experience was when i overtook 6 vehicles at a stretch up hill with my then girlfriend on my way to Calabar from PH, now my wife and sweetheart. i can still remember the toyota rav 4 , the toyota camry, prado yeep, and the avallon , they were all contesting with each other before i met them , i can still remember as my babe close her eyes , and after the whole episode she shouted "never you ever drive me like that again" She was stiff scared. i strongly believe that this ride will contest with the e36 318, e36 320i and win and would outsmart the e325i. Lets look at them: e36 318i BMW Engine Displacement 1,796 cc Cylinders 4 Valves 8V (2 valves per cylinder) Torque 168 Nm → 124 lb-ft (3,900 rpm) Power Output 115 bhp (5,500 rpm) Kilowatts 83 kW Gearbox 4-speed Automatic Performance and Economy Top Speed 124 mph (200 km/h) Acceleration 0-60 mph 12.30 sec. e36 320i BMW Engine Displacement 1,991 cc Cylinders 6 Valves 24V DOHC (4 valves per cylinder) Torque 190 Nm → 140 lb-ft (4,200 rpm) Power Output 150 bhp (5,900 rpm) Kilowatts 109 kW Gearbox 5-speed Automatic Performance and Economy Top Speed 133 mph (214 km/h) Acceleration 0-60 mph 10.60 sec. e36 325i Engine Displacement 2,494 cc Cylinders 6 Valves 24V DOHC (4 valves per cylinder) Torque 245 Nm → 181 lb-ft (4,200 rpm) Power Output 192 bhp (5,900 rpm) Kilowatts 139 kW Gearbox 5-speed Automatic Performance Top Speed 144 mph (231 km/h) Acceleration 0-60 mph 9.00 sec. Can you see that on the horsepower and acceleration, and in me too as the dragoneer driver . Can you see why i cherish this 80's machine. My Benz 190 is a super car, though my wife is using it now , cos she loves it so much with the auto gear system, the fancible mirror light and the cool ac. She has given her some few bruises now which i'm waiting for her to master too well before i revamp it again even with a 5 gear system and keep it solely as my travel ride, and would then pick BMW for her. I find it difficult to let go this ride yungboss: I thought the 201 engine was the high powered 180hp 4cylinders...i.e, the one the e30 m3 was built to contend with...i was suprised when you stated a 1.8l engine with the modest numbers...its actually this one in the video that you are talking about, that one is a 16 valve engine.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANv83OJk--4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcu5wvS1mvs .I think you are missing something here the 8 valve Benz 190 1.8e has the following Engine Displacement 1,797 cc Cylinders 4 Valves 8V (2 valves per cylinder) Torque 150 Nm → 111 lb-ft (3,700 rpm) Power Output 109 bhp (5,500 rpm) Kilowatts 79 kW Gearbox 5-speed Manual Top Speed 115 mph (185 km/h) Acceleration 0-60 mph 12.70 sec. I believe that is waht i stated up there while those ones that comes with vboot 230 engine 190 230e has the following. Infact all of them now comes with vboot engine and a 2.6, 6 cylinder engine. One remarkable feature is their ability to do a turning circle of 10.6m almost like the 3 series BM that does 10.5m, while MB w202 does 10.7m and w203 10.8m benz 190 230e Engine Displacement 2,299 cc Cylinders 4 Valves 8V (2 valves per cylinder) Torque 205 Nm → 151 lb-ft (3,500 rpm) Power Output 136 bhp (5,100 rpm) Kilowatts 99 kW Gearbox 5-speed Manual Performance Top Speed 126 mph (203 km/h) Acceleration 0-60 mph 9.50 sec. see 190 e 2.6. you can see that this is a super car, the manual version but not auto, auto is a mess. Have you now see the trick in the gear system. The more the gears, the better the performance and fuel efficiency and the less the maintenance cost. the rason why i want to change my 4 gear auto to five gear auto. Engine Displacement 2,498 cc Cylinders 4 Valves 16V DOHC (4 valves per cylinder) Torque 235 Nm → 173 lb-ft (5,000 rpm) Power Output 194 bhp (6,750 rpm) Kilowatts 141 kW Gearbox 5-speed Manual Performance and Economy Estimated New Price In: Top Speed 143 mph (230 km/h) Acceleration 0-60 mph 7.70 sec. |
Emperoh: And cost of replacement parts? My brother i share the same skin with you, burning ones pocket. I know these two guys have stiff neck competition going, just like you said MB has the design and finishing but BM has the practicability, she is more or less a sport car, that's why she cant afford all that leisure so that she wouldnt shift ground . while Benz is a leisure thing, i would trade that leisure in the w203 c240 for the sport E46 BM, considering performance and fuel economy. Look at it this way again, 3 series BM has a turning circle of 10.5m while benz still kept on varying theirs to the worse; benz 190 has 10.6m, fair enough at least of all the MB, w202 has 10.7m still ok, but w203, has it 10.8m going towards the jap that has it at 11.0m and above, so which way? she kept on compromising her sport thing for the luxury. its ok for some quatres |
Ikenna351: @ Emperoh & au.hanson,Ikenna, thanks for the clearance. Maybe the popular old phobia? BM? dont go near it!! don't even touch it!! you dont want to achieve anything on earth!!. To crown it all , the way it is parked and abandon at every yard in the east(although these are the 7 series and 5 series) send danger signals up my spine |

Gee2728: I drive a W202 C230kompressor, but honestly any given sunday I'll pick that E46 banger over that wacky W203 C240. Pls dnt be fooled that C240 slow infact all day long it wld never run away from my kompressor. The interior maybe well finished but for me that's all abt it.Alright let's compare the 2 first all, i guess you wanted to say E46 330xi? lets assume its 330xi and not 330i, here it goes: Engine Displacement 2,979 cc Cylinders 6 Valves 24V DOHC (4 valves per cylinder) Torque 300 Nm → 221 lb-ft (3,500 rpm) Power Output 231 bhp (5,900 rpm) Kilowatts 168 kW Gearbox 6-speed Manual Performance and Economy Top Speed 153 mph (247 km/h) Acceleration 0-60 mph 6.60 sec. Average Mileage 29 mpg Highway Mileage 36 mpg City Mileage 21 mpg (using uk miles) For the MB c240: Engine Displacement 2,597 cc Cylinders 6 Valves 18V (3 valves per cylinder) Torque 240 Nm → 177 lb-ft (4,500 rpm) Power Output 170 bhp (5,500 rpm) Kilowatts 123 kW Gearbox 6-speed Manual Performance and Economy: Top Speed 146 mph (235 km/h) Acceleration 0-60 mph 9.20 sec. Average Mileage 25 mpg Highway Mileage 36 mpg City Mileage 17 mpg (using uk miles) You see, to me it dosent make sense going for the w203 c240 when you have to compare with the E46 330xi. The c230 kompressor of w202 would even do better than the 6 cylinder c240. lets have a look: Also, the maintenance of this c240 is really something to do a rethink. I have been thinking why MB actually sell such an MB w202 MB c230 kompressor Engine Displacement 2,295 cc Cylinders 4 Valves 16V DOHC (4 valves per cylinder) Torque 280 Nm → 207 lb-ft (2,500 rpm) Power Output 193 bhp (5,300 rpm) Kilowatts 140 kW Gearbox 5-speed Manual Performance and Economy Top Speed 143 mph (230 km/h) Acceleration 0-60 mph 8.40 sec. Average Mileage 29 mpg Highway Mileage 38 mpg City Mileage 20 mpg You see, the c230 kompressor can achieve accelaration of 0-60 mph in 8.40 seconds as against c240 at 9.20seconds. But the E330ix top it all at 6.60 second even with a considerable good fuel economy as against the c240. Isnt that a super car for economy drive? I am yet to understand what secret BMW employs here to achieve so much with so little fuel consumption? For the weight: Kerb Weight 1,435 kg for the w203 c240; Kerb Weight 1,515 kg for the e46 330xi. The e330xi still weighs heavier than the c240, so what's d magic? Perhabs, its the engine dsiplacement? but then the w202 c230 k still has a lower engine displacement than that of the c240 and still performs better than the c240.Perhabs, because of the kompressor supercharger in the w202 c230k So in this context , what would you chose, needless to ask, the BMW E46 330xi, any contrary opinion? |
Gee2728: I guess I'll keep my hope alive of geting a manual shift b4 the year runs out.Pls let me know when you do, i am also looking forward to getting one too. I shouldn't be anymore afraid of this BM maintenance thing, if i have companion |
Ikenna351: Hmm!Abeg make the price come down so that i go fit purchase that my long awaited BMW ride. Ikenna , a friend went to Cotonou and bought an e36 BMW 318 for just 320k, everyhing packaged with delivery, i was amazed. Clean looking ride. When i asked of the unforseen problem this car could develop , he pointed to his mothers own he has been using for 5 years now and told me my brother ''there isnt no car like BM yet, all you need do is to understand this beast just the way you understand that your benz" He futher said that its the drivers mechanic car, that he dosent go to mechanic but fixes all those minor injuries himself, my appetite started getting wet for BM |
smartchoice: I saw greenish white powdery/chalky stuff under the plug wire boot terminating on the coil!Yes that's it, you are right on spot. if you had this, then the end terminating to your plugs must be bad? or the plug wire itself is leaking current somewhere. Can you check that up too? If so you need to replace them. And before you put the new ones, clean those greenish white substance on your coil socket very well, the way to go about this, is to find a carb cleaner that has a straw and flush that part very well till it rinse out those deposit. If you still use the old plug cables , it will still happen again in a matter of time, you ride wont be all that smooth neither. cheers |
Jazz lite: @AU my issue is that I have to clean this every 10days!Went on leisure ride with my wife and kid , just back. Honestly i dont know, but then i'm not comfortable with it, that is touching those things too often. Though , i dnt think there's any harm so far you do it right. But you have to find a solution to it because it is abnormal , so that you could deceased from doing that too often as such..check the wires thoroughly like i said. Have you examine plug wires to see how it looks like? any cracking head ? any whitish or greenish deposit on the coil socket? |
smartchoice: am back from the mysterious ban....funny rpm movement at 400-600 sudden cut off in engine. All these symptoms disappears after cleaning the throttle valve.....always stained with sticky oil residue around the edges. You have current leaks somewhere, believe me. Someone with a good sense of diagnose has to trace that right form your plugs cable to your ignition coil and other parts too. you could start from here, maybe you could find something. Physically examine your plug wires one by one, if you see any crack at the tail or even some greenish or white substances whether at the at the part terminated to the your ignition coils or at the part terminated to your spark plugs, then know that it is time to change your plugs cable and observe this again overtime You need to do current leaks check in your car. Bossforeva: Siena nd al Car gurus on Car talk townIf you can give me till next weekend, i'll give you the exact cost of those items in our local market here and state how you can source them cheaper, mostly from the after market.. I have done similar project for my Benz 190 6yrs ago, and i use to drive it proudly and contest with whoever that challenge me on the road and never lost the challenge. I was so crazy about this ride and turn it to a super car but with reasonable fuel economy. It has always ran contest on the highway since then; i changed my 1.8 litre engine to a 2.3 litre engine(vboot engine) that houses the following: Engine Displacement 2,298 cc Cylinders 4 Valves 8V (2 valves per cylinder) Torque 198 Nm → 146 lb-ft (3,500 rpm) Power Output 132 bhp (5,100 rpm) but later modification gave it a 154 bhp Kilowatts 96 kW Gearbox 4-speed Automatic . I am now thinking of changing that gear box to 5 speed auto gear box (from c class. i know how to convert this. i have done one for a friend before)for more fuel economy and extra performance, though not yet made up my mind. Top Speed 119 mph (192 km/h) but later modification gave it a top speed of 126 mph (203 km/h) Acceleration 0-60 mph in 10.70 sec. but later modification gave it Acceleration of 0-60 mph in (this is suppose to be) 8.40 sec. , I changed the entire body kits from pencil to super padded including the too bumpers, back and front. I use original oem parts with all the factory clips to achieved these, no rubies was involved. I also change the side mirrors and the front grill to that of the amg, the mirror lits at nights and as traficators. I changed the interior from upholstery to leather . I changed the dash too with the windscreen headlamps and rear lamps to that of the sport model, the tinted ones. I changed the wheels from the normal chrome 14 inch to the fancy finger chromes 15inch. I changed the exhaust system to that of the amg racing sport type double silencer. I changed the entire suspension system to stronger ones and also the entire back camber, thyroid and axle thyroids. I changed the tires form 189/70/rm15 to 215/65/rm15. I source all my parts from the after markets and got them quite cheap. It cost me about 300k then but i wasn't disappointed because it was worth it, but i want to give you today's price, and its gonna be a lot cheaper today than then. |
CHECK LIST Now let's look at the crux of the matter, assuming you have an old vehicle thats is about 20 years old or there about , you bought it because it was cheap or it has always been your dream car, you cannot just let go off this car, but only for you to realise that her perfomance is so detestable, never mind you can change all that. A)First of all check this vehicle very well for current leakages , this may lead to checking and replacement of the following items: 1. plug wires 2. spark plugs 3. ignition coils 4. your voltage regulator 5. distributors if it has it 6. OVP 7. fuel pump relays 8. expired wire harness: In some vehicles you might need to replace the wires or do fresh rewiring for things to work properly B)Check for fuel leakages and underperfoming fuel components . You may have to check and replace the following components 1. fuel hoses 2. the injectors and nuzzles 3. fuel filters and pumps 4. catalytic converters and 5. Oxygen sensors 6. replace all the old hoses if you can, especially ac hoses 7. air filter and MAF c)If you are a traveller like me and love speed. you have to check your suspension systems THOROUGHLY too. Replace any wobbling or worn out parts 1. ball joints 2. shocks and struts 3. the arms: upper arms, lower arms, etc shaft and axle joints 4. propeller shaft 5. steering balls and joints 6. check your back axle for proper oil gauge and change noisy back axle etc 7. axle thyroid and centre thyroid( very necessary for stability at high speed ) D)Infact, for vehicle that are this old , you must have to replace the following components else they will forced you to replaced them on the road: 1. your tensioner pulley and adjuster 2. your timing belt if yours comes with a belt If you check for these components, diagnose them well and replace bad ones, you vehicle will turn new and perform excellently. To make things a lot more easier for us, we will be treating each of these CHECK LIST one by one as God gives us the Grace. |
Jazz lite: @AU my issue is that I have to clean this every 10days!May i know why you have to clean it every 10 days? I'll rather do it during my service intervals or in between it |
These are the 10 most common causes of poor gas mileage you can prevent to save money and cleaner environment. Read on Under-inflated tires are a common cause of poor gas mileage. Pull out your owner’s manual and note the recommended tire inflation for your vehicle. Gas mileage drops by one percent for every 2 lbs the tires are under-inflated. Properly inflated tires increase gas mileage by up to 3 percent. Read this testimony by Josh. this is just a sort of guide to show you what it could be like: Mercedes Benz 190E 2.5-16 Complete Restoration Hi everybody, Thought I would post the progress of my 2.5-16 complete restoration. I acquired the car back in 1992 when the car was about 3 years old. So it holds a lot of special memories for me. I remember at the time there was nothing quite like it on the road and I recall test driving an E30 M3 and liking the Merc better! Sadly over the years, not having enough time, it fell into a pretty bad state of disrepair. Coupled with some untasteful modifications (window tints, bigger wheels etc) it was looking a bit sorry. I was in a bit of a quandary as to what to do...Should I sell it as is, buy another, or restore it. After much thought I decided to restore the car – nut and bolt. The story starts back in March 2008. Here is the car as it looked in 1993, this picture was scanned so apologies for the poor quality. I was going to pretty much do a full restoration of the car but also add some things that I had always wanted. The restoration build includes: Complete strip down of vehicle, including windows, doors, seals, bonnet, boot, engine out, interior out, headlining, fuel tank etc... Complete body rectification, including rust removal and treatment, and welding if necessary Complete respray using only Glasurit paint and lacquer, including engine bay, door shuts etc Body kit to be finished in original matte New clips for sacco panels Rebuilding Mercedes Benz long engine 2.5-16 and re-finishing Rebuilding Getrag 5-Speed gearbox Fitting new leather interior with heated seats and electric seats Fitting new carpets Fitting new Zebrano wood gear surround Fitting new gear lever Fitting new volt meter, oil temp gauges Fitting new lap timer Fitting new outside temperature gauge Fitting Air Conditioning Fitting new head-lining Fitting new seat belt stalks Fitting new steering wheel (Mercedes Sportline) Fitting new indicator stalk Fitting all new switches (Windows, heated seats, rear light, rear de-fogger, air recirculation) Fitting new heater dials Fitting new ashtray Fitting new cigarette lighter (I don’t smoke!) Fitting new glove compartment skin Fitting 4 new door cards Fitting 4 new door handles Fitting front speakers Fitting 4 new rain sheets Fitting 4 new window motors and regulators Refurbishing instrument cluster (recalibrating needles) Replacing all bulbs Fitting 500k HID kit (Maintains road legality) Replacing all vents Replacing heater core Fitting fire extinguisher with felt overlay Fitting Mercedes oddment container Fitting Mercedes petrol can to spare wheel well Fitting Mercedes cassette holder to centre console Fitting Becker head unit with satellite navigation Fitting Becker remote kit Fitting amplifier and crossovers in rear boot (nothing garish) Fitting new Hirschmann aerial Fitting new boot liners Fitting new boot carpet Fitting new windscreen Fitting new rear screen Fitting new windows Fitting new seals all round Re-anodizing roof rails, rear window surrounds, front window strip, and side windowstrips Evolution II wheels with 4 new Continental Sport Contact 2 tyres Fitting new Mercedes Grille and surround New Mercedes star New front lights New side blinkers New rear lights Complete engine bay restoration including new bonnet pad insulation, new rear firewall, new side firewall, new coolant reservoir, new washer reservoir, new hydraulic fluid reservoir, new hoses for cooling system, all new Mercedes jubilee clips, new alternator, new water pump, new heater core pipes, new fuel injection lines, new hoses for fuel injection system, new fuel distributor, new air flow sensor, new fuel pressure regulator, new EHA valve, new idle air control valve, new cold start valve. The car will be featured in Mercedes Enthusiast at some point after the work has been carried out. Anyway back to the story! After I had decided to carry out a full restoration I began on trying to find who was capable to undertake such a mammoth task. Sadly it became apparent that no one person could carry out the body work and mechanical restoration. I would have to get several things done at several different places. I did not like the idea of this because I did not want the vehicle being pushed from pillar to post. So my journey took me to a company in Germany who have been carrying out complete restorations on Mercedes old timers and young timers. The restoration would not take a few months I was told...But it would take about a year or so! That’s not that bad considering some restorations can take years – as this great forum shows... So lets leave our differences behind ours and work as a team to help ourselves and achieve these fits CHECK LIST Now let's look at the crux of the matter, assuming you have an old vehicle thats is about 20 years old or there about , you bought it because it was cheap or it has always been your dream car, you cannot just let go off this car, but only for you to realise that her perfomance is so detestable, never mind you can change all that. Replace any wobbling or worn out parts 1. ball joints 2. shocks and struts 3. the arms: upper arms, lower arms, etc shaft and axle joints 4. propeller shaft 5. steering balls and joints 6. check your back axle for proper oil gauge and change noisy back axle etc 7. axle thyroid and centre thyroid( very necessary for stability at high speed ) D)Infact, for vehicle that are this old , you must have to replace the following components else they will forced you to replaced them on the road: 1. your tensioner pulley and adjuster 2. your timing belt if yours comes with a belt If you check for these components, diagnose them well and replace bad ones, you vehicle will turn new and perform excellently |
Gee2728: House pls I have been considering cleaning the throttle body of my 2000 W202 C230k but am not sure of what solvent to use. Would rly welcome any trusted and tested suggestions. My brother, i use thinner soaked in a soft white cloth to clean the throttle body thoroughly dipping my hand through the hollow diaphram, cleaning it to sparkle neat in and out every six monthly interval. You know laquer thinner is a very good solvent for stuffs like this, remember my write up on the chemical composition of laquer thinner and its harmless effect on components like this? cheers!!! |
See the picture above. I came back to my car loosen the old system and unmounted it with all it components as it were after all its been there for more than a decade so something newer must replace it. I then got hold of the newly purchased one and loosen all the nuzzles from the body one by one and disengages the rubber tubing to enable me clean the entire system thoroughly before coupling them back and mounting to my machine , i dnt wanna take chances after all i'm not paying anybody to adorn my baby for me wit a new cloth, i gave her the treatment myself so i must do it well. I bought carb cleaner and clean up the entire nuzzles one by one and flush the module itself thoroughly , then couple them back and mounted it to her socket with every component it came with and made sure it sat there perfectly well. I then went to the car to crank it, it refuses to start, I almost forgot that i should have done one thing yet. I went back to the nuzzle module slacken the receiving hose nuts and turn the ignition on again , the fuel flowed , i shook my head, tightened up the nuts once again. I also went to the sending hose nuts slacken it turn the ignition on, fuel flooded it , i tightened it up again(now that is call bleeding). I went back, off the ignition and crank it again, the baby answered immediately..Oh my my my!!! reving shoot to about 1500RPM. Waoh i said to myself, it came down to 1000rpm unlike the usual 700rpm , the throttle felt too good on the leggs. There was no need fixing back the new oem star plugs, i have spent too much time already in this market that will be done another day(certainly i will have to do it because Benz and most of the newer model cars tailored their ignition and performance system to their particular oem spark plug, though the system was already too good for me to tamper anything again than to go home. I went home and observe it again for another one week and achieved 21 mpg, biggo! I was so happy . I was going everywhere with this car. The next weekend i decided to change the spark plugs and kept the other ones as a backup, i remove them and replace with the star, also i dip a soft white cloth in thinner to clean my throttle body thoroughly with the entire hose system. I couple back everything , crank the car the revving shoot to 1500rpm as usual, it eventually drop to 1100, another improvement. I decided then to adjust down the tuning. I adjusted till i didnt see anything to adjust anymore, but the rpm finally settles at 900rpm with no more room for adjustment.. with this kind of adjustment before it will go down to 400rpm. I decided to observe it again for another week, and achieved 22mpg. I then knew that i have turn this car to a new one ..there's no reason why i must feather the throttle to start the car at any time even with ac load on it as it usually does atimes before now. With load or no load, the baby drives like a leaf, no more retardation; no lose of power no matter the occupants; no hesitation no matter the load .I then ask myself, so Benz C180 can be this good and yet people complain of lethargy, then those vehicle really has to replace some good parts and components to revamp it performances. these components i got them from the after market , apart form the oem plugs, filter and exhaust system(with its catalytic converter intact) Note i should have changed the 2 coils too if i had any hesitation there after but non , so enjoy your rides and have good performance as well Cheers!! ziccoit: Welcome Mr au.hanson. We missed you. Waiting you bring for the boys now?Thanku belove, i miss you guys too. I have brought a full load of packages for boys to chew and evaluate. Sure, my dear i'm gonna really squeeze out time this weekend to fulfill this , even if it's gonna be a partial fulfillment. thanks for the reminder. Infact the fuel no dey gree finish even after 2 weeks, the ride come dey like say i dey drive ontop of water. at gear one for bad road i no dey even touch the throttle pedal but the break,, i no dey even feather am but use only break and clutch to control the movement..Infact, at start up i only release the the clutch to move, no feathering of throttle at all..i nodey fit sidon one place again when i'm bored with work..you cant imagine that i'm just coming in now from a little outing Ok, let me just do justice to this without wasting anymore time. Thus the story began: I came back from work one faithful evening and was so concerned about my MPG, i decided to remove my airfilter and drive without it for a few minutes, i discover that my car perform better than with out , so i came home and thoroughly dust the filter but wasnt still satisfy, so decided to buy a new on the following day being a Saturday. At the spare part market i bought a new on from my dealer and the vehicle performance improved , i observe it over the week and my mpg improve from 13mpg to about 14.8mpg, i wasnt still satisfied I ordered my dealer to keep completely new exhaust system for me with the catalytic converter intact as my car own has scattered and clogged inside, to such noticeable note at firing. I went over during the weekend bought it from him and install and had anther improvement and mpg of about 16 over the week observation. I wasnt still satisfy, so i told my dealer to keep an oem plug that was meant specifically for this car for me . so i went the next saturday and got the original star pluggs for my babywhen i got there to install it i notice the bad nature of the plugs wire , i decided to change them for brand new ones i bought brand new ones of same model name. after installation the performance was just too much, my rpm shoot from 700 to 900 and this was amazing, but my instrument clusters went rioting, so i decided to unstall them there and then and took it back my dealer and for him to endorsed the occurrence on the so called neew pluggs wire. I decided to comb the market for grade one cables for the aftermarket and found one that was like almost new so clean , i bought it and install it too immediately, the performance was excellent just like the new one that i bought, but with my instrument clusters still very much intact. On a closer observation again i noticed some fuel leakages on he nuzzle module, i decided to ghange the entire module too without wasting time since i was already at the sparepart village i went to another of my trusted dealer, we entered the market and combed for it , one was pulled from a clean aftermarket engine i bought it The promise thread has began here https://www.nairaland.com/1438869/revamping-old-car-absolute-restoration#18113580. Help push it to the front page.

Jazz lite: 25kilometres or 25,000miles?Oh my God pardon me, i mean to say 25,000km |
Jazz lite: @AU Hanson...how is ph?Yeah PH is fine, thanku. Ok, what i meant there is that , you have to flush it after 2 years or after 25,000km, or which ever that comes first for total coolant, MB coolant is 3 yrs if you would ever find it. Thanks for the pointer |
roy4real: oga Sienna nd all merc benz experts in d house I hail. my C240 2001 model refused 2 select gear after d mechanic worked on d radiator y/day. after a scan 2day, d machine started 2 select with a noticeable sound. d mechanic observed a shortage in d ATF level nd suggested a change of ATF with OANDO dexron II. Is dis oil ideal 4 a C240 2001 Model?Hello my Dear, when it comes to ATF , dont yoke with it. The modern auto gear systems are built to very high precision and are so sophisticated that they do a lot of work hence generating a lot of heats too that only recommended formulation can stand such. MB has its own ATF and that is what most MB owners uses. Gee just showed it sometime ago, dont use OANDO dextron II , unless its is proven experimentally for you else use MB ATF, it's available in our local market..Infact dont ever go near abro and their likes beacuse these things expands and spills over at hot afternoon sun, under highway speed even in older BENZ, they are not good at all Some cars like honda , Murano , etc define their ATF and doesn't tolorate any alternative |
Trac: Such antifreeze should be nowhere near an MB.In as much as i agree with you on the point concerning mobil 1 and the rest(even though MB state 12 months or 10,000km,or whichever that comes first, but you stated 12,00km, i'm kool with it), i strongly disagree with you on the point you have just made concerning the total coolant , this is unfounded and misguiding to the undiscerning mind. Before i recommended total coolant to Gee, i did an extended research based on my experimental prove. i have already made him to understand that Mercedes Benz alternative to approved coolant is Valvoline Zerox G-05 coolant. Valvoline is the oem manufacture of MB coolant. Do not use the prestone or abro green stuff in your Benz, like the abro coolant and so on and so forth. It may work for a short term but will eat away your engine at the long run. i have also reiterated that If you are to use normal coolant then stick to it, the problem comes when you start switching/mixing it with Mercededs Benz coolant. If however you may want to switch coolant, make sure you flush the system very thoroughly before you introduce the new coolant and also note that each coolant you use has to be flushed off after every 1 to 3 years; 3 years for Mercedes Benz coolant , that is if you would ever find it, i havent search for it before. Also the mixture should be 50/50. 2years or every 25,000 kilometers for total coolant(which ever that comes first) then the system must be flushed thoroughly too because as time goes by, coolants become charged with metal particles and turn acid. Total coolant is a very good formulation for the tropics, Hot country" coolant : 1 - It Prevent engine overheating 2 - It Protects components from corrosion 3 -It Extents vehicle life TOTAL's coolant has superior heat-conducting properties and its boiling point is specially suitable for hot countries, allowing it to withstand higher temperatures. It is suitable for all types of petrol and diesel engines, including Mercedes Benz and BMW cars It has a reserve alkalinity (PH5.5) OF 12.5 MI HCI0.1N Freezing point of -20 DEGREES CELCIOUS VOLUMETRIC MASS AT 15 DEGREES CELCIOUS OF 1050 KG/M3 It contains ethylene-glycol, which is very good for car cooling system Apart from the products unique biodegradable properties the longlife nature of the product, it also allows longer service intervals and reduces the need for new coolant and decrease the impact on the environment. So, where did you see it damage the water pump bearings? I use total coolant on my benz 190 since 2008 and my water pump bearing is not damaged till date; I use it presently in my w202 c180 about a year now, where did you get your information from? If MB recommended coolant is not available in my locality , must i spent millions to get a common thing like coolant? even when there are better formulation in the market? This is out of context: you once said that the MB recommend mobil 1,but that you are using a better oil formulation than mobil 1 ; I also put to you that even though Benz didn't recommend total coolant ; this is also a good formulation and will not damage any water pump bearing so far you stick to the instruction and flushed it after 2 years, or 25,000km, whichever that comes first. I believe in experimental prove , but not in theoretical literature; because some of the theories gotten over time does not work in practical terms. Prove it experimentally first. Pls see excerpt from total coolant before you condemn it: http://www.totalcoolants.com.au/public_panel/adv_technology.php |
LeylowDee: my mercedez benz E-class 2002 showing ETS and ABS light ON, also, the engine goes OFF whenever i apply brake while moving. have tried all i could: serviced d car with synthetic oil , do full steam wash of the engine. still, the issue still there. PLS HELP!!!What you actually did is unrelated to the problem at stake,do this last ones first before you go to spend money on diagnose, find a donor voltage regulator(it is that components that is inside your alternator, our mechanic call it 'cut out',but the actual name is voltage regulator, it's just about N400.00. After having done that, check the one inside your alternator to see if its has chopped or broken and replace it with this one; Its a very simple fix, and common with Benz. If you check and that one is still good , then check your OVP replace with a tested good one ,it may have started going bad, i bet you its either of these items that is worrying your vehicle. Once fixed , you wont see those ABS nor ETS light come up again. Pls let us know how it goes Good luck |
inze: @siena, hanson and all.Sorry my dear, i have been so busy for a while now, at the same time enjoying my new found love with my smooth riding second baby, benz c180 revamp , i just stumble here this night to see this wonderful thread gone this far. Anyways, it looks like Zim Drill has said it all |
glassman: i guess most of the sacked ministers are from the 'rebel' PDP states not necessarily cos they were not performingHave you confirmed this before you start derailing unsuspected Nairalanders mind? |
All we need is power and good road network, hence the story would change sooner than thought, else later than expected. The boys are industrious even on their own, but the environment is so rough and unfriendly.Give us enabling environment and watch out the ingenuity in us. |
Goldenboy007: Okay see, I'm not saying all claims of "No sex before marriage" deals are not genuine but i stand to be corrected if i say majority of those claims are borne out of ulterior motives. if girls claim "No sex before marriage" then they should make it absolute! not that they are denying you and servicing others! I hardly associate with guys whose life run on sentimental emotions like love, their rationality is that of a dog on heat! When they say that it's rare for girls that have been sexually active to stay off sex for so long is so true! Like they say in Potato Pringles ad; Once you pop you cant stop ! So either she is a virgin or she is not ! anything else na wash! If you allow them use water they have soaked G-string to cook spaghetti for you chop? I am sorry for your mother !My Bros, u aint far from the truth , some are so wicked that they don't mind tying you down with the no sex syndrome but finding gratification elseway , or even commercializing the thing so discreetly for financial gains and otherwise, while being down to earth mean with any serious bro that come around them for true biz as if they are truly that way, but deep inside , there's serious ulterior unrepentant motives behind the whole harden up gymmics.. If God does not save your from their snare, you are pityful than what is pityful cos you cant stop a dog from eating poo But the funniest part is that you would know right from the very first day that you meet such deceitful lady, but you still fall prey to her package, why? that is why i said that God has to help the serious guy here, because since you are looking for a godly lady, the devil himself has package such Jezebels to mirror such fake criteria in the minds of the unsuspected bro, even ministers themselves fall to it |
