Apt! Nice One.

I Still strongly believe that doesn't mean applicants can't add more money and withdraw money after applying. (For as long as the needed amount is maintained).
I agree with you. There could be need of cash to attend to an emergency. Like you pointed put, as long as the needed and DECLARED amount is maintained during the entire process, an applicant is fine.

With dues respect, does that mean one should be tied down just because of VISA application? I'll have to put on hold all other expenses, won't be able to withdraw cash, and continue my living while waiting for decision? I'm not getting the exact point you're making here.

No. Embassy people ain't as this wicked. I bet they have better means to verify than all money should remain there. I don't think anyone here's working directly with embassy, and everything here is just a speculation.

I see nothing wrong if people ask to know this, fine some will be on fraud reason, and some will ask with a plain heart. Whatever the case may be, be guided that they can verify the information elsewhere outside this forum, and not ideal putting ALL laws into our hands.

Peace, and happy Sunday

Modified: Nogen has done justification to my curiosity.
The moment you declare required funds for your study, it means those funds are available at the time you applied, during and after your visa application. Whether you chose to withdraw funds or not, it is your call. IRCC will assume funds are available and can at any point request you either reprint an updated SOA or pay a year fees. If you do not meet up such request, it is a straight refusal on insufficient funds.

Asking whether they find out account balance or not shouldn't be a thing of interest if funds are truly for study. Truth is, IRCC can proceed as they deem fit under the regulatory laws. The moment you claim you have XYZ amount of money AVAILABLE for study for a year, you must have it. The Canadian visa officers are very unpredictable. There is no rule of thumb or guidance on how the ascertain funds are truly available as declared by applicant but trust me,if they find out funds are not available(applicant not meeting a request regarding further convictions on available funds etc), the ramification is dire. it will be concluded as misrepresentation.

My advise to folks is always to ensure declared funds are available until a final decision is made on their application.

Regards.

Yea, it can. I meant written on a 'word document' and signed when i mentioned writing on a plain paper.

Thanks for your response, the company is a sole proprietorship, it has one signatory and over 60m naira balance. But the issue is no tax clearance . What do you think please ?
I would say fund be transferred to applicant or if possible,in convertible currency or sponsor make full fees payment. Company account statements easily do not fly with officers. There is alot to prove when using one. Access to funds by the applicant is key in availability of funds. Available balance in a company's account would mean nothing if there is no strong evidence showing applicant can access it.

Also, tax clearance won't matter much if applicant has shown that he/she will access or have accessed funds declared. This is the most important thing.

However, some school provides guidance and free consultation. I received the email below from my intended school yesterday and, unbelievable Nigeria was used as case study as if the advisor knows about the rate of denial in Nigeria.

Getting you started on your study permit application!

Hello everyone!

I have been working on creating a study permit application guide with our ICCRC certifies international student advisor- ........ and now I am pleased to share this presentation with you.

If you have not yet begun your study permit application I would encourage you to do so now. please kindly check the attachment below for the powerpoint slides.

Once you have begun your application and you have questions please reach out to ,,,,,,,,,,,,a directly!

Have a great day!

Of course they would give advise on how to follow the laid down rules and guidance in obtaining a study permit and all that includes in the process. However still, they don't induce or influence the outcome of an application once it has been submitted no matter the circumstance. IRCC represent the Government of Canada as as such holds authority in the name of the federal Government of Canada.

Also, study permit applications can be refused for reasons other than the norm. Eg, for criminality, inadmissibility on health grounds etc.In such cases, the law is applicable and no school can reverse it or even try to. Students are advised to follow the process of applying for a study permit and to wait for an outcome from IRCC. There are restrictions on institutions to meddle in an application that a final decision hasn't been made.

Regards.

Hi guys please this is kind of urgent , if an applicants Dad who is into business and has a registered name with CAC is the sponsor . Apart from bank statement of account and letter of sponsorship, what other documents does he need to submit/present.?

Must the letter of sponsorship have to be in the company’s letterhead?

Note: I know it has been discussed severally on this thread but I tried to trace it and couldn’t right now cos it’s kind of urgent. Please if you know it help me repeat it. Thanks House .

Cc @austinepee4

Letter of sponsorship and personal account statements are the best to go with. Company statement of account would suffice only when the sponsor is the sole signatory and also have shown evidence on how the company would operate well once funds are removed from it's account.

Sponsorship letter can be written and signed on a plain paper. Main thing is that it shows the applicants dad is sponsor and not the company.

No University in Canada is allowed to interfere with Immigration related matters at any instance. The perogative is strictly with IRCC to make decisions and also correspondence are between IRCC and the client(applicants) or their recognised representative.

harde116,

Yeah Attorney jnyuwa02, sounded as if a sworn notarized affidavit explaining the errors in the applicant name won't work and he further said that the visa officer will think the applicant is making use of someone else's certificate just to acquire visa. Which is wrong and I seize not to agree from his perspective.
I want to also believe that Attorney jnyuwa02 hasn't come across an applicant that used a sworn notarized affidavit and got approved without visiting the issuing institution (body) to effect a change in name. That's why he is so doubtful about it. Well, I have seen people present affidavits and it works good!
You have made a valid point. A sworn affidavit would suffice at any instance for discrepancies in documents. It is a legal tender and importantly used as an evidence to a claim. That fellow as you advised is fine with an affidavit and has nothing to worry about.

Sorry i'm dragging the issue up and down.

Am I to ignore the IMM5257 part??
Yes, ignore it. As you can see, it is an optional document. There will be no need to fill that form. Once your study permit is approved, a temporary visa will also be issued without a separate application.

Just to clarify, in my second application attempt, does that mean that I will be able to link the file online with the existing one (i.e. the one I created during my first application)?

Please for somebody who was previously refused Visa and wants to link the application online, what will be the process to link the application online?
Yes, you will be able to link your new application using your already created 'MyCIC' account.

The process of linking your new application is quite easy. Log into your account, check for 'link existing application', follow the instruction and fill appropriate fields correctly and it should link your application to your account.

I don't intend to create a new account. I was asking to know if i will write intensively about my refusal in my SOP. Please whats the full acronym of UCI?
Thanks a lot.
You do not need to write extensively about your previous refusal. They already have details of your refusal. However, you must answer yes on the application form to the question of having been refused a permit or visa before. Your SOP can include how you have responded to the previous refusal issue in a paragraph or two with exactitude. Also, make sure the documents submitted in support of your application or claim(s) speak more for you than what is written.

UCI: Unique Client identifier. (Your permanent reference number on IRCC database for all Canadian immigration related issues)

@Austinpee4 , @mcobex and other gurus, plus help me out

I have an uncle I work in his office who wants to be my sponsor . He has been responsible for my education for the past 15 years , and he pays my salary from his GTB account cuz of the easy USSD mobile banking option it has. But I intend to use his other bank account for sponsorship details cuz that's where his major transactions are.
Now , I want to ask that should I present his GTB account details as well to show that he has been paying me salary or just letter of introduction stating that I work in his company is enough.

Secondly , I have some pictures where my uncle was present in my convocation , can I show this as well to buttress the fact that he's been my guardian from time immemorial ?

Number 3, This my uncle is my mother's brother , do I need to draw any family chart or I should just say in my SOP that he's my mom's brother and present my mom's birth cert ,

And lastly , should I present my bank statement of last six month that has just little balance in addition to my newly opened fixed deposit account(which contain about 15m ) ? Or just the fixed deposit is sufficient .

Pardon my long post pls, my question seems peculiar as I couldn't get some ting similar in previous posts . Thanks
Just ensure you include evidence to substantiate that he will indeed live up to the responsibility of being your sponsor. All evidence to support claims will go along way as well as evidence to show his previous support and guardianship. It will be more convincing if you attach as many evidence as possible and importantly, make sure the REQUIRED funds are available for your first year of study.

All the part payments that I have ever seen scale through are those in which the designated school explicitly required that half payment or part payment is their requirement for payment and the applicant took the time to explain that to the VO and submitted evidence of such from school. Otherwise, all those that paid half or part or one term payment on their own that I have encountered, were denied. It’s therefore my submission that you should pay one year tuition and deposit 10k into your dormicilairy account if you must pay. This notion is supported by the fact that when CIC responds to an applicant’s application and concerned about finances, it does not ask the applicant to pay for a term, but to pay for the whole one year. You recommended that if people cannot afford to pay one year, they should pay one semester. That is the obvious giveaway. VOs think that way too that if you paid only one semester, then it means most likely means that you are not buoyant enough to pay one year. Otherwise, why would a person be paying one semester when the visa law requires you prove funds for one year?
I paid only my first term fees and my application was approved. My school never requested any form of payment before hand. I simply paid it into my student account and got official receipt to attach in my application. A reason being that i had undoubtable access to the other funds declared for a year and i was able to demonstrate this to the officer.

It actually doesn't totally depend on whether an applicant pays the full tuition or not, the main thing is accessibility of required funds by applicant. The more accessible it seems for the applicant, the better.

For those using a third party sponsor, they must go beyond doubt to prove to the officer they would have access to funds from such individuals hence the frequent advise to pay fees for a year and have other funds in convertible currency. Any applicant paying a part of the funds must also be ready to prove to the visa officer that he/she would have undeniable access to the other part of funds required.

Hello @Austinpee4 and the house , pls, I have government funded scholarship/sponsorship for my master . But they won't pay into my account until my visa is out and ready to travel.
Plus, my uncle who is also my employer is supporting me, but will only make available his bank statement and affidavit of sponsorship.

Can I apply for visa with just the letter of sponsorship from government and my uncle without them paying into my account at the time of making my application ?
We have seen in previous times where an application was refused because of the integrity of the scholarship body and it's failure in remittance of funds. As a matter of fact, i am helping a fellow overcome this issue.

While it would be okay using just the scholarship letter as proof of award of scholarship, ensure your co-sponsor show credibility and reliability to a substantial extent. Uncle is a 3rd party sponsorship and as such would need to show some level of commitment towards your study and also state that he would be your support financially should the scholarship body fail to remit funds to you in time.

I now advise people to use a DEED of GIFT for funds transferred from a 3rd party in addition to the affidavit of sponsorship with a cogent reason for expending such funds towards the applicant's study if possible. This is a document that can be tendered as evidence that the 3rd party has willingly gifted the funds and no refund is expected.

Add his statement of account and also include all evidence and proof of his income/source.

Hello Gurus in the house,

i really dont know where to start from. i am a total novice to this canada visa thing even though i live in Europe.

my Wife-to-be has been admitted for masters in Canada and we are in the process of applying for her visa so i decided to check nairaland so we get it right once and for all. Hence i have several questions. P.S i have been reading the previous threads (and still reading)

my questions are:

What is the major difference between applying online and offiline? which is preferable? if i apply online where/when does VFS come in?

we started the online application process but i have not seen any point where i am to upload a SOP(or is it given another name?), all i saw was passport, proof of funds, letter of acceptance, digital photo and family info.

i heard people talk about medical test, where does that come in too?

Then as for sponsorship, her elder brother is standing as her sponsor-- he is a business man and has the sufficient fund but he doesn't have any business registration(like company account or CAC registration). we were advised to package him as an employee of his friends company(what do you think?), if we do this would the statement need to show monthly salary payments ?

Then as for her, she works in a bank and she is going to study economics. does the reference letter from her employer need to state her current job function/role or it should just state that she is a staff. (she can actually dictate the content of the later to an extent).

I have so many seemingly trivial questions to ask, i would appreciate if a GURU can just dedicate their time to answer me as much as possible and not mind my naivety. or better still ask me to pm you or send you an email.

Thanks guys.

1. The major difference between the online and paper route is CONVENIENCE. Both undergo same review and processing time. However, a thing or two to note in difference is the fact that an online application can be processed anywhere around the world where there is a Canadian visa office. Secondly, for voluminous documentation in support of an application, it is advisable to use the paper route as there is a limitation of 4mb(size) per tab for upload of documents using the online route. Also, you would get readily assistance from workers of VFS in arranging your documents.(The online is also straight forward if you can follow the instructions and guiding).

If you apply online, VFS comes in when you receive an instruction in your account to give your biometrics at the nearest VFS office. Also, VFS or the embassy would come in when your application has been approved and you have been instructed to submit your original passport.

2. There is no tab for SOP. The best way to attach it is to merge it with other documents say letter of acceptance and upload in the tab provided.

Medical test comes in either prior submitting your application or when you have been instructed by the visa office. If you intend to do it prior submitting(Upfront), you would visit the approved panel physician(Check IRCC's website for your location) and a test will be conducted. At the end of the test, a document will be handed over to you which contains your IME(Immigration medical examination) code that would be used by the visa office to locate your medical result on their database once the panel physician uploads it.

3. You cannot "package" her elder brother without him having intentions to actually sponsor her. There would be more than packaging on their end. He will have to show commitment other than stating his willingness to sponsor. Also, he will have to show sources and proof of his income claimed as well as how funds was accumulated. If he claims to be an employee, he would have to show evidence of being employed(payslips, employment letter, bank statement showing deposits of salary over a period of time, promotion letters etc). Note that these documents are important when proving employment. He must provide as much as he can to show genuineness of claim.

4. A letter from the bank showing she is an employee would suffice and possibly that they are aware of her trip. This is not the EE process where duties has to be specified.

Lastly and importantly, she must ensure and demonstrate that she intends to return upon completion of her study.

All the best to you two.

Regards.

Good afternoon House,

I seek to get clarification please.

Is it a must that my statement of account must be from my salary account,or it could be from my savings where I have funds and inflows and outflows.

Expecting your response.
The idea of including a statement of account is to show availability of funds for your your study(first year) ,living expenses as well as showing your overall financial strength. If the required funds is in either of the accounts, use any. However, you MUST show proof or sources of transactions in the account to buttress any claim you are making.

Hello House,

I started following NL since I submitted my TRV application in March. However, I must state that since March and now, I have gather more than enough information on this forum and I can certify myself as immigration consultants on Study TRV. I even went as far back in following thread 13.

Please I have an issue at hand. I was refused of my TRV on 10 May, 2018. Reasons for the refusal are:

Travel History and Statement of Purpose. Of course, I knew the next step of action. I ordered for my GCMS notes even before I picked up my passport on Monday but the note is yet to be made available to me.

Now to the main concern. I have travel history. (to Canada, Dubai, SA etc). I have been to Canada before and also, still have a valid Visa on my passport. I didn't stay up to six months, never committed crime (background check was completed without any flags) but however, had a baby. Could that be the reason why i was picked on travel history? Besides, all my friends who previously traveled to Canada on TRV for birthing purposes were never refused in their subsequent application. Also, my husband, son all have valid Visas to Canada. Could that be the reason?. Guru in the house, please I need your advice as I await my GCMS notes or possible response to the refusal if those identified above could be the reasons. If yes, how can I respond? Do I need to plead for not stating birthing purposes in my previous TRV application? How can I tackle this?

With regard to purpose of Visit, I have drafted another one as the previous SOP submitted was not convincing enough. I just adopted / built on another person's SOP who was also refused. The revised SOP is now finalised. Please can any of the Gurus in the house assist in reviewing this in readiness for my GCMS notes? I will send what I previously submitted as SOP and the new one I developed to the volunteer to see the extent of work and originality I have now done. I wish to submit my application latest two days after my GCMS notes are received as I have started collating all my documents again. School resumes 23 September.

Besides, I was awarded a scholarship of $4,000 and my sister, practising medical doctor in Canada is my sponsor. I was not flagged on ties in Canada cos I showed strong ties at home in form of assets n family members (husband n son) as I stated they were not going to accompany me.
There is always more to 'purpose of visit' refusal of a study permit application. Most pointers or review without it would leave the main and actual reason(s)as the visa officer's inference on the GCMS always is the first point of review by another visa officer should you reapply. It is smart to work with the GCMS note in further considerations. I advise you wait for it and then it would be easier to deliberate from there to proffer a better solution.

Regards.

A well written treatise on what you intend to study and how that can be translated back to Nigeria as relates to your employment prospects—backed with some evidence, should take care of business here. What you write contrary to Austinpee4 stated earlier, counts and decisions are made based on it. It counts only if it’s backed with evidence. You cannot be making blanket sentence anywhere and be believed. You have to back your SOP with evidence if you expect to be taken seriously. Only my five cents! Best of luck!

All good. But I don’t agree with one thing, VOs don’t know that a majority of applicants are not going to come back to Nigeria. It’s your responsibility to convince them that you would. If they already knew that majority won’t come, they would approve very very few applications than they already do. I think most will come back, they can’t die in Canada. Most people are simply looking for a way to establish themselves and come back to their homelands and enjoy their halcyon days!! Not many Nigerians die in Canada, at the very least, the chickens do come back home indeed to roost!
Really? Some of your comments always leave me smiling. Anyway, officers already know that folks especially from Nigeria applying for study permits do so in their numbers because of the incentives of studying in Canada and one being a path to permanent residence which will also translate to a better standard of living than the one already in place in Nigeria.

However, this will not be applied as a decision base in issuing a study permit as there is an established act and regulation for it. An onus understandable is on the applicant to convince the officer that he/she would depart at the end of study because it is a stipulation and a requirement by the IRP act and regulation that an officer see both in evidence and discretionary that there is a level of a strong tie established in the application. A good reason why it is becoming challenging to overcome the "you have not satisfied me that you would leave Canada....." phrase is largely because there are limited evidence to show that there is a possibility of the applicant to return which must be established even if the choose to return or not.

Do not be deceived by thinking they do not know. They share and have statistics and once a student lands and is established, the individual is censured both from the federal and provincial authorities and records are centralized.

Approval of study permit is really not in all an applicant put down in writing, but mainly what is evidenced. They will in the long run serve as evidence or proof in conformity to the stipulation of IRP act and regulations in case of a legal action. It is simply a demand of an existing law for a temporary resident to satisfy the officer. Whether you choose to return or not, an applicant has an obligation on this at the point of application and must do it satisfactorily to ease the officer's job and the guiding placed before him/her to issue a study permit which must be in accordance to subsection (11)1 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. A visa officer does NOT reach a decision based on how he/she feels while reviewing the application. It must first be in accordance to the Act and with discretion from same stance point.

A big congratulations to everyone who got a positive response at different stages of the Canadian study path. It will get better if you stay the course and keep your focus right.

For those refused study permit applications, get hold of your GCMS note before you start further considerations. It will be a major gamble to reapply without it. A refusal is not the end. You only did not meet a requirement or requirements as the case may be. If you show you can meet it/them, your application will be approved on reapplication. Get help if you need one and importantly, do not underestimate the Canadian visa officers, they are meticulous and not in a hurry to let you into their country. Take your time and use a good strategy. In the end, you will be glad you did. Every effort will be worth it.

Wishing everyone the very best.

Yes Boss, I have read everything but if I started writing now, I might write more than 10pages. My story long ooo
You do not need to write stories in your purpose statement. An overview of key points would give inclinations to a purposeful decision to study in Canada than situational.

Your key points should be:
- The aim of pursuing your program.

-Reason for choosing the program, institution and country( do not generalize. Give a precise reason or two. An officer will weigh these reasons against the option of studying in Nigeria)

- How you have prepared for the program.(Past experience, education. It should be in sync or relative to your intended program)

- How you intend to apply the knowledge gained from the program.( Again, do not generalise. Give a realistic plan and strategy. They should be within your ability. It is believable when they are)

-Your short and long term goal(s)- (Identify a specific problem and a possible solution that would require a process from completing your intending program for your long term goal. Your short term goal can be an obvious one and specific to something already existing)

- A strong concluding statement.

Truth is, there is no rule of thump on writing a purposeful statement. How you express yourself should be objective, realistic and devour of fairy tales or make believe stories. They won't impress an officer. Also take note that they are looking out for your values and other things you are bringing to their Country.

Officers know majority of students especially Nigerians are not likely to return after study. They have statistics already. Keep your stories real, achievable and drawn largely from that which you have found interest in,
your passion.

Regards.
