justwise:To be honest, i didn't feel like posting again about this matter but this post drew my attention. @Justwise, is it about the fact that the moniker had @Visaofficer or the fact that all he posted were very accurate and very useful or that folks were assuming him to be a VO? The last i know prior to this ensuing 'Visa officer' issue is that the fellow was contributing without any mention of him being a visa officer, infact that wasn't buttressed in any part of his posts aside his moniker. Anybody can use a moniker. He didn't outrightly mention that he is a VO(Most VO on public forums won't anyway). It was you who asked him after you deleted all his posts and banned him not that he claimed being a VO prior to your question and i'm sure he registered a new moniker just to respond to the question you asked which some of us read. We all were interested in what he posted in response to people's queries and they were very useful. He did not asked for private PMs, money or advertised anything. Out of the blue, you banned him, deleted all his posts and answers to questions he had given folks who asked questions and possibly for those in similar situation simply because there is an assumption of a possible VO. It was very glaring that his posts were some of the most accurate and meaningful in a well written context and this is what we want here. It didnt matter if he is a VO or not. The least you could have done is to find out who he is, send him a msg and tell him the procedures here and be a little open and courteous for the simple fact that his post were accurate and helpful and just maybe it would have been the best approach. As much as i could tell, he has more information about this Canadian study path than a lot of us here. You don't just assume everybody has same intent because of what you had encountered previously. It's wrong. Give people the space to contribute when they have not violated any of the terms and conditions of being a member here. If they are of good or harm, time will reveal them to us. Simply advise people to apply caution as well as being careful and leave it at that. You expect someone to be mature and professional but you failed to show what professionalism is in your capacity as the moderator of this forum. Its not a good approach. There must be a structure before a flow. I admonish you to use all available resources available to you as the moderator here to make this place one of the most resourceful place regarding the Canadian study visa for both Nigerians and non-Nigerians using it. I take a bow out of this issue. Regards. 17 Likes |

justwise:I hope i can. But certainly, your action today didn't affirm the main essence of this forum and what it stands for. I hope you too would do better even as we acknowledge your effort in pinning out unwanted individuals, posts and atmosphere. It is certainly not about whether there is a visa officer here or not but most certainly about the quality and accuracy of the information provided to help people. But if we think everything and everybody is about scams, then too bad. A good strategy can help when you have to find out about one. Regards. 10 Likes |

@Justwise While i understand that you have to apply strict measures as to how and who use the forum, i still suggest you accommodate people that can give or have given very vital and accurate information. All we should do is to look out for how they avail this information while also mentioning that folks should apply caution in who ever they get involved with. To be very honest with you, whether @Visaofficer1 or @Visaofficer0 is actually a visa officer or not, the quality of responses given today is typical of a knowledgeable person that might just be of tremendous help here. I noticed you deleted all his posts including the response to your question of him being a visa officer. Those information honestly are some of the most accurate i have seen on this thread in a long while. If i were you, i would have observed the moniker closely, observe how he/she interacts here or better still confirm from sources of his indulgence.( i noticed he even mentioned his name and where you can source about him) while also pointing it out clearly that people should be lerry of who and how the indulge with people they meet on here. Anybody can claim anything but what is more vital is the information given here and how they are presented. It quite unfortunate you didn't give him and members here a chance to get to see how he interacts with the knowledge he has. Disclaimer: i do not know@visaofficer1/visaofficer0 But i see much sense in his posts. 21 Likes 1 Share |

jnyuwa02:You know, one thing i have learnt over the period i joined this thread is to have some reservations, observe consistently and closely and read information with keen interest. Time has always revealed a lot and often times, make us realise that conclusiveness could elude objectivity. There is more to that moniker than you already think, trust me. I'll advise you give it sometime before you surmise. As time goes on, the issue of 'being privy' would have been long glaring. Also, the response did not suggest otherwise about submitting genuine stuff. If you read closely, that information has been reiterated here repeatedly and isn't contrary to what is truth and obtainable. 3 Likes |

loveson:Having a dual intent is legitimate. However, you MUST meet the requirements of each application as well as their categories. Since a requirement of the temporary resident visa category(Study permit) is to satisfy an officer that you would leave Canada at the end of your study irrespective of an existing application for a PR, you must meet it and convince an officer. Unfortunately, a lot of applicants are not able to do this because they most often can't prove enough home ties to compel return at the end of their study. With a PR application at the same time and with no strong convictions to satisfy an officer that they would leave Canada after their temporary residence, it becomes more evident that the applicant main purpose is immigration on both path. If you have very strong reasons evidentially and convincingly to satisfy the officer that you would likely leave Canada after your study even though your PR application is ongoing, you are good. It will NOT be refused as both applications are not dependent on each other. The onus is on you to satisfy the officer based on the stipulations of issuance of a study permit and meeting all requirements. If you don't, the officer will enforce the provisions of the law against your application and intent. |

@Visaofficer1 If i were to go by your responses and profile, i most likely would agree that a consular officer has finally joined the Canadian study thread as seen in the US study thread. If this is the case, you are welcome. The precision and accuracy in your responses leaves a lot to look out for moving forward. 5 Likes |

Wow, part 14 already! It gladdens to see that there is progress and the good news are already coming in this part. Like i have repeatedly mentioned on this forum, Life will most often give to us what we demand and not necessarily what we deserve. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. This forum has changed many lives and is still changing. There is a wealth of information here that are very useful depending on what you seek. What ever information applies to you and your case, always endeavour to cross-check with those on CIC's website.(This cannot be overemphasized) Read up as much as you can, it is actually for no one's good except yours. Eventually, you will need that skill. So hone it while you make progress at different stages of your application. To the newbies and silent followers, never be in a position of helplessness. You have help here. Use it and in so doing endeavour to ask questions that suggest you too have done a little research on what you are asking. This way, folks here who can proffer any solution, suggestions or advice will readily come to your help. Some questions have already been answered and with a clearer purview. I suggest you quickly skim or glance through previous pages to abreast yourself with these information. It's understandable that the voluminous nature of the thread would require an arduous effort on your part in sourcing those information already addressed. You can simply use the 'search bar' on the thread, type in a 'Keyword' or a phrase of what you seek, it will direct you to the pages and there would be suggestions to guide you. If you are still confused, you can ask directly from what the confusion is. People will respond to you in this situation faster. Remember this is a very important decision you are making or have made. It certainly will affect your life moving forward. You must ensure you have a good level knowledge of what you are indulging or involved in as you strive. A refused application is NOT the end. The Canadian visa officers have a strict mandate and discretion at their beck and call. Do not give them more reasons to use it/them to your disadvantage. Pay attention to ALL areas of a reapplication. Do not think that it is only the previous refusal reasons that would be reviewed on a reapplication. Times have changed and it is becoming very stringent especially for Nigerians applying for the Canadian study permit. Pay attention to ALL areas as though it is a fresh application. Take your time, do not rush a reapplication. In actual sense, officers look out majorly for applicants that most likely would not depart Canada at the end of their study. You give them more assurances that you won't depart if you show any form of desperation. It is a temporary resident permit and you must convince them that you will depart. Choose your program wisely. Show that you truly need the program you are going for and show how it will benefit you progressively. Use all available, genuine resources and evidence to prove this. They are not in a hurry to let you into their country. You can give them a reason to see you as a great asset not just for Nigeria but Canada as well. They have incentives awaiting your arrival that would lure you to their Country on a permanent basis. See yourself as a student first before an immigrant. The rest will sort itself out after the hurdle of issuance of the study permit is crossed. Finally, to all the great men and women, past and present still holding and contributing immensely on this thread, i salute you. Thank you for always helping us in dispair and for your patience and understanding as you help us go through different stages of our application. Many thanks. I pray this part brings more approvals than we ever imagined. 26 Likes 2 Shares |

Olamideballo:Actually, nobody here is a visa officer more so that of the Chinese embassy. So you may want to confirm from the Chinese embassy regarding the outcome of your interview if you do not understand what you were given. In my own inkling and since you were given a pickup form, it could me a positive outcome. I do not know for sure. Endeavour to either wait for their correspondence or you reach them to verify. |

shaddy1k:Just to cut in, issuance of i-20 in most cases ascertain that you have met the financial requirements for your program and the US Consulars(VO) would have very little to verify regarding your statement of account because this obligation has been given to the school prior to issuance of the i-20. However, depending on the answers you give them during your visa interview on your financial standing and sponsorship, they MAY or MAY NOT check your documents. Key thing is that you answer any question posed to you without discrepancies in both the online formed filled and the document presented to them(i-20).The information as filled on those documents will form the bulk of the questions they will ask you. This is for confirmation of what is filled and to affirm if your purpose is genuine. So if they school accepts the statement from the microfinance bank then most likely you MAY not face any problem regarding the statement at the embassy. Your answers to questions would be a reason to verify the documents you go with. Regards 1 Like |

Chelda:Quite slim but not IMPOSSIBLE. If she can truly and i mean truly justify the whys surrounding her circumstances, she well could get her application approved. Again, there will be a great work to be put in to convince the officer that her intention is to study. Explaining all she has been doing, why she is not studying in Nigeria and all in this light. The outline and a major thing in her convictions and permutation is that she must satisfy the officer that she will study and leave at the end of study. To be honest, she will have to be beyond convincing. |

Slik07:While i understand your points as to the chances of the PhD applicant in context and based on his/her circumstance(s),the submission here and the angle you have come from in using the word "definitely", its still NO guarantee that the application would be approved irrespective of everything looking good. I do not think anybody would want to mess up his/or her study permit application especially after putting in a lot. We can only do our best. The ultimate decision lies in the officer's discretion just as @Jnyuwa02 mentioned. There are instances of inadmissibility on health grounds, criminal convictions or misrepresentation. These are factors that can lead to a refusal of a seemingly good application. So while i agree with you that a PhD applicant significantly stand a good chance of an approval(this is due to the fact that it is a pure academic exercise) than other applicants of different proposed programs, It's still no affirmation that there is a guaranteed approval. The VO will decide. All we can and should do is to see things from the positive angle and make contributions but then endeavour to point it out that the final decision/vedict lies in whom the job of the decision maker has been given, the Visa officer. Thebushboy1:You are absolutely good to go. As per notorizing of document, it should only be in a case of no official signature/stamp or seal on the document. The essence of notorizing any document especially for the Canadian visa application is to show it's authenticity when there are no seals/stamp/signatures of issuing body or organisation. If you have this on your documents, there is no need to notarize for attestation unless specifically mentioned. Cc: people in same uncertainty. 4 Likes |

Like it is frequently mentioned here and the poster reiterated this fact, all answers and information here are NOT completely accurate. Folks should endeavour to always cross check informations provided here to those on IRCC website. It does a lot of good to an applicant. bbaby84:Actually, all applicants who once applied for a Canadian visa have a UCI. All information concerning reasons for a refusal or an approval as inferred by an officer are stored in the GCMS using the client identifier of the applicant for future reference. So yes, there is a UCI for any applicant who had applied for any type of Canadian visa. 1 Like |
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 3 by Austinpee4: 10:24pm On Feb 11, 2018 |
jelmusboy:Yes, you already have a UCI number. If you can't find it, don't stress. The officer will either use your initials or passport number to sort your previous history with IRCC. That UCI you forgot/can't find will then be quoted and entered into your new application or any further correspondence from IRCC as it is your unique client identifier on the database for as long as you have an immigration history.( both approved or refused applications). It won't change. So if you can't remember, fill other details but ensure you declare previous refusal(s). 1 Like |

Canadianfly:Very valid points you noted here but emm, the bold part is not quite applicable. IRCC will ONLY refuse a study permit application because the applicant failed to meet the eligibility requirement/or did not satisfy the officer based on the stipulation of the ACT for issuance of a study permit and NOT because of a PR application. Each application is independent of the other and decisions are made separately because there are different categories of residency. The key thing is MEETING the requirement for each application. Alot of applicants are not able to meet one of the requirements of the study permit visa which is to satisfy an officer that they would leave Canada at the end of their authorized stay irrespective of a PR application(even though an officer is not allowed by the immigration law to use an existing PR application to make a decision on a Study permit application.) All the same, you made a lot of sense in your post. 1 Like |

Muinnat95:Reconsideration are mostly granted when there is an evidence in error in law or a very important document that was submitted with the original application was overlooked in reaching a final decision. On the issue of availability of funds, you can't just base sufficiency on the closing balance. There always would be other factors considered before reaching a final decision of a refusal in that regards. The best thing for anybody to do before considering a reconsideration or reapplication is to know the report of the refused application by ordering for the GCMS file first. There MUST be an error in law or a misjudement evidentially before a reconsideration is granted and must be in accordance to the stipulation of the IRP Act and regulations.(You must understand this too before you seek reconsideration) it is HIGHLY discretionary. Evidence must be beyond reasonable doubt that the application of the immigration law was wrong or important document directly resulting to the refused reason(s) was/were overlooked or misjudged. Anything outside this will not be granted for reconsideration. You will be advised to reapply. Get your GCMS file first to see the inference of the VO on the application. This is the right step to take in making a decision to ask for reconsideration or reapply. 2 Likes |

Ethelia:Yea, i get your point as emboldened. Thing is, officers are guided by the law and the provisions of the Immigration Act and regulations. If it stipulates A, it definitely would be A and each category of application is independent of the other. So in considering each application, the officer ascertain FIRST if the applicant has met the requirement of the category of visa applied for. He/she will NOT fault or use a second application to make a decision because both are separate application and of different category. How does he/she prove possibility to leave Canada since a PR is also being considered? Yes, alot of people especially younger Nigerians want to immigrate permanently so the issue of applying for both categories may be unlikely. Infact, most people who do that want to use their options and not " put all eggs in a basket". So i see the premise your question is coming from. However, a couple of persons who likely are well established in Nigeria with assets, business, companies etc may see a need for higher education and also a need to become a PR of Canada possibly for the benefits of it or social security. In this case, such individual(s) will be able to satisfy an officer that he/she would leave Canada as per requirements for the temporary visa. As we know, their law covers all intent there is to it. The point is, it is LEGITIMATE to apply for PR and temporary visa simultaneously. However the applicant choose to meet each requirements, its left for him/her. They are separate applications and categories Regards. 1 Like |
Travel / Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program-Connect Here Part 3 by Austinpee4: 12:11pm On Jan 31, 2018 |
Ethelia:Actually and in contrary, there is a provision in the Immigration and Refugees protection Act and regulation that provides for a dual intent which mentions that "An intention by a foreign national to become a permanent resident does not preclude them from becoming a temporary resident if the officer is satisfied that they will leave Canada by the end of the period authorized for their stay.” Which in other words means, they can apply for both categories of temporary(study, work, visit)and permanent residence simultaneously. The caveat however is that the applicant MUST meet the requirements of each application with that of the study(temp residence) being a satisfiable reason for an officer to believe the applicant would depart Canada at the end of the stay irrespective of the application for permanent residence(Home ties, Business, employment, future employment and other strong assets at home will suffice greatly in this case). Meeting the separate requirements is the main thing when considering both applications simultaneously. Nollywoodlove:Firstly, i must commend you for seeing beyond the grade you made from undergraduate and for opting to better your chances with an improvement. Kudos. Getting your PGD in Nigeria is not a bad idea. Infact, it will give you an edge when you eventually apply for admission(if you achieve a very good result)and a study permit. If a PGD would compensate and qualify you for a masters admission in Canada? This will depend on the specific area/field your proposed study would be and the requirements of your program. If the master degree program is in same field and a progression of the PGD, you most likely would stand a chance if you do exceptionally well as the master degree program offer would be precedent on your most recent academic performance and qualification(s). Also note that, admission to Canadian schools are not completely subjected to the applicant's grade. Research interested in, Statement of intent, prior professional or academic activities and overall suitability of the applicant for the applied program will also be considered. Another option is to apply for another undergraduate program. This option may be tough as you will have to really convince a visa officer that your primary intention is to study. They will consider your decision to study another undergrad program, the rationale behind such decision and your likelyhood to leave Canada at the end of the program. This option must go with cogent and 'beyond reasonable doubt' explanation to convince officers that you need the undergrad program and your plans are not to immigrate. So weigh your options, listen to your inner voice and decide because at the end, you alone will know the driving force(s) in making your decision. This will also help you during your visa application eventually. Regards. 1 Like |

mcobex:Baba, don't you think this advise would give other people a reason to misrepresent and later send an email to CIC to feign ignorance to the 'clearly'asked question? I still don't believe anybody 'forgets' to answer the question correctly. There are other questions on the IMM1294 form and it is usually answered correctly, why then would a question of a previous refusal be forgotten more so when applicants applied for the refused visa themselves or had knowledge of a refusal or the mere fact that they wanted to travel before but things didn't go as planned. These memories live for a lifetime! Anyway, Truth is, CIC will hardly respond and accept such errors. The immigration laws very well covers such acts with a corresponding consequence. Officers will use their discretion and interpretation of such act of misrepresentation. It's simply to uphold their existing laws and regulation. So the right thing for an applicant that 'forgets' to declare a previous refusal is to wait for a response from CIC. We have seen cases of severe to no consequences in time past but not without a procedural fairness letter. So to all those 'forgetting', una weldone o. Kindly note that the more of these cases of misrepresentation, the stringent the scrutiny is for all category of visas to Canada. They just don't trust Nigerians completely. I guess nobody would want to make it even harder. Declare any previous app refused. There is nothing wrong in that. As a matter of fact, it gives credibility to the overall processing of an application. 12 Likes |
