funshow247: 1. If you feel it will help your application by elaborating on some key aspect of your application, your purpose of study, discrepancies in any part of your application or to communicate to the officer your overall plans with your program upon completion, then you should send it to them through their email (accra.immigration@international.gc.ca). Otherwise, if your application is straight forward enough, you can leave it out. It is not a compulsory document. 2. I don't think there is one but i'll suggest in so doing, you give good reasons for changing your initial use of a representative. If you don't have any, proceed with the form. It is more like a consent form regarding somebody helping with your application, issuing and getting information on your behalf during your application process as well as authorizing the embassy to communicate with the individual(s) other than yourself. Either ways, i don't think it is harmful to your application. Just a measure to control release of information especially confidential or personal. 1 Like |

Aallizzwellwole:You need to get the officers note on your immigration file which is also known as GCMS(Global case management system)file. The letter given to you when your application was refused most times is vague and may note properly guide you when tackling the concerns of the officer. So a good move to remedy the situation is to get this file, once it is out, you can bring it here so people can help proffer solutions as you prepare for a reapplication. Check the first page of this part of the thread(part 13), you will see a link on how to order for the file. |

@AugustChild, One vital thing you may want to know is that your program would be financially demanding and you will have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that your sponsor will live up to the responsibility. Your purpose of visit is questionable from the length of your program to how you explained the transferability to a university after completion. You probably didn't explicitly put them together very well. Here is what i would suggest. 1. Get a direct undergraduate program in a university showing a full program of a bachelor's degree. 2. Have your sponsor pay your full first year tuition and have your living expenses in convertible currency. 3. Write a short SOP of your passion and your achievements. Leave unnecessary things out of it. You probably are very young and will find out as you progress in your endeavour what would matter to you more. The VOs are aware of this considering your age. Too much of unnecessary information in your SOP would suggest you didn't write it yourself and ultimately would make you seem unprepared for your proposed program. Just leave it simple and what your ambitions are in future as well as how the degree would help you. They have summarized your previous application and any new application would be reviewed from that premise. Work closely with your GCMS note, don't try too hard to impress them, consistently put your information together and you will be good. 1 Like |

Senatorkolade:Haha...i wished they were! Actually, Canadian visa officers at any embassy are full Canadian citizens same with other embassies. The embassy may have indigenous staffs of their host countries or other countries but certainly, the visa officers will be a citizen of the country they represent. Don't forget, they must work for the interest of their country and act according to their laws and regulations. Other nationals may be biased in either issuance of visas or from mere sentiments. All Canadian visa officers are Canadians! |

Derksjock: na real wa o! Refusal after meeting their request? Hmmm. Hope you did exactly as you were instructed. Anyway, since you don't have the correspondence letter, we won't know what the issue is. While you wait for the correspondence letter, you may want to send them an email citing the non inclusion of the letter in your account after a final decision was made. It's possible the documents you submitted did not meet their requirement or satisfied the officer or Maybe, an error was made, just maybe! |

larrytorch:The issue of sufficient funds meeting CIC's requirement is unambiguous and clear. Have equivalent of your tuition and living expenses atleast for the first year. The more you the applicant make this fund accessible to you the better especially when using a sponsor. I would say yes, open an account for yourself and if possible a dorm account as funds in convertible currency will show exportability of these funds when necessary without much hindrance through forex policies and all. Your dad being your sponsor makes it even a reliable sponsorship. All he needs to do is in addition to the funds, he should add all his source(s) of income, his proof of employment or business and also add a proof of his relationship to you. (birth cert). Large sum deposit or as you put it money lodging is when a significant amount of money enters an erstwhile inactive account prior to the application or when funds that does not over a 6 months period give or show the average income of the applicant/sponsor leading to the available balance are deposited without a proof of it's source or origin. Also, available funds that will meet the requirement can be a one time proof (scholarships, loan, funding, etc). So since you are using your dad, he MUST show he can meet this obligation of sponsoring your study. Conclusively, have your funds for your tuition and a minimum of 10,000CAD for your first year. The more these funds are accessible by you, the better. In doing this however, it must be logical, convincing and without doubt that said funds will be available to you. Sometimes, it is advisable to pay your tuition and have funds for living expenses in convertible currencies. This will allay any doubt as to your access to funds for your first year. Holyfield1:Opps! Sorry about the outcome of your application. The feel certainly isn't a good one but you will overcome. Well, just like @jnyuwa02 mentioned, you will need your GCMS file. Take your time and reapply. Actually, you can apply as many times as you can but in so doing, you MUST address the concerns of the previous refusal or officer, meet their requirements and ultimately satisfy an officer that you would leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay. If you do this in the 10th attempt, your application will be approved. The only thing in applying multiple times is that reasons to return home would be stronger as they will also pay attention to how well you addressed the previous concern and your overal circumstance as well as you likelyhood to return home. 3 Likes |

Dredre01:I can't say if it's late or not. The earlier you send in your application the better. The processing time on CIC's website for Nigerian applicants only shows the time frame it took that office to process a good number of applications. Processing and decisions are made WITHIN the time stipulated. So anything is possible from the 3rd week to the 14th/16th week. Endeavour to send in your complete application this week like you mentioned and be hopeful a decision comes sooner. |

Alantobie:Your answer to the question of "Have you applied to enter or remain in Canada" should be NO. Unless you have previously been issued a Canadian visa/permit and applied to extend it, then you can answer to the question. Also if you have been refused entry at the border of Canada, then you should answer Yes. Otherwise, your answer should be NO. The other question of "Have you been refused a Visa/ permit to Canada or any other country" is what you should be concerned about and give a truthful answer. 3 Likes |

Processing times for study permit applications for Nigerian applicants have shuttled between 14-16 weeks in recent times. However, some applications have exceeded this period due to alot of factors. A few being the significant high volume of app, formalities in background checks, inadequate documentation, pending or insufficient information from immigration related agencies working with CIC, issue of misrepresentation, request for additional info and documents, etc. The best your sisters can do is to exercise more patience, check if their application has passed the processing time stipulated on CIC's website, once it has, they can send a mail requesting information on the status of their application using accra.immigration@international.gc.ca. or/and use the web form. abestine: I think withdrawing the study permit application at this point may not be the smartest move. Anything is still possible. I also doubt much a refund will be completed for her app that has long been sent in since june. A good move will also be reapplying for admission in the same department just like you pointed out but i still feel this should be at the point when a new offer letter is requested. The request would expedite the process i feel or better still, the school can advise on the best possible way around her circumstance so it is a win win for her. CIC can be very unpredictable. What do you think? 1 Like |

twendy:Once there is a positive review of your application, CIC will request a new offer letter with a new start date from you and not the school. Also note that the new letter will have to be the same DLI(school) you used for your application. So you should reach your school, explain to them the situation on ground and tell them that there is a possibility of a request of new start date and i believe the will work around something for you. The main thing for these schools is that there is progress both in your quest to study there and in your study permit application. Some schools allow you to withdraw from a course at a certain date to avoid financial charges but then, the funds will still be in your student account and it's available to you at anytime. So make sure you have verified from your student accounts department about the financial situation of dropping and adding courses(Course registration). 1 Like |

miki001:Why not exercise more patience and work harder to maintain your current grade till you finish, read up information here as well as on google for your preferred course and then when the time comes, it will be an easy sail for you. You still have a year to complete your program. You will need to excel very well in your concluding year to also give you a great chance to secure admission in Canada. So focus on that, find useful info for your intended program in Canada and when the tine comes, you will get all the help you need. 5 Likes |

bumaye:You have nothing to worry over. Do not allow fear grip you. The main thing is your HIGHEST level of qualification which should be your degree(if you are going for a graduate program). It was on that premise you were offered admission. You have filled this on your application form and as long as you have shown evidence of it, you are fine. Let me even try to make you calm down further, You see, if actually there will be an issue with the error, it will be an issue of misrepresentation which is highly unlikely in your case and according to their immigration law, an officer before making a decision MUST ask and allow the applicant a chance to explain the circumstance through a 'Letter of procedural fairness'. So if atall that issue comes up, you will be given a chance to explain or and possibly back your claim. Don't shiver. You are fine. Online applicants don't use the questionnaire and their applications are processed and a decision made. 2 Likes |

Nwebele: I would say it's a good decision and a response from me would be a YES. It certainly would be a good way to show the VO that you want to study. They now have your details and once there is a significant change in situation by you pursuing the PGD in Nigeria first and later going for a master in Canada, it will show that there have been progression in your quest to advance your career since the last refusal. When the time comes to apply for a study permit to complete the Master degree program in Canada later on, you can then add that a foreign degree in law would give you more career prospects especially with multinational companies in Nigeria as most of them would welcome a foreign trained employee because chances are that they will work well in the diversity of the organisation.(SOP hint for others). Regards ma'am and all the best in your endeavours. 4 Likes |

Nwebele:Hello ma'am. Sorry about the outcome of the 2 applications. You know, there are some factors that certainly would be considered when an officer reviews each application. 1.Why did this applicant choose this program? 2. What does she stand to gain upon completion? 3. Why is she not considering studying in Nigeria considering the cost ? 4. Will this applicant leave Canada upon completion of program? Since your last application was refused for purpose of visit, it bothers around your proposed program or the officer suspects that you are using the study route to migrate to Canada rather than educational advancement. I actually can't say if you can get a master admission in Canada with your HND qualification, if you can, then you will add to your chances of your reapplication. A diploma is actually lower than a degree which you already have. It will be hard to sell this to a visa officer unless you have extremely compelling reasons to undertake this program. A lot of college diploma, PGD/C progams in Canada are structured for work placed demands. They are often times considered as programs to brush up your skills and hone a specific knowledge to help you perform at a particular role/profession. The PGD/C pograms also are for applicants changing a career to a different field other than the previous degree with some level of work experience(1-2). Most times, if a study permit applicant does not fall into any of these categories, you will have to convince the officer very well why you need these programs and how progressively it will add to your current situation or circumstance considering that a logical step after an undergraduate study should be a master degree. So, if you can get a master degree admission, great. You can also get a PGD/C program as well and make a compelling case. Otherwise, it may be a little difficult using the diploma to secure a study permit. With your profile, it may not be logical. They wrote that statement on the refusal letter to give you another chance to show that you want to study. In so doing, you MUST meet their requirements and also satisfy them that your primary intention is to study and that you will leave Canada upon completion of your program. Regards. 4 Likes |
