DEEAJA:Actually, you may not get a swift response to your questions as this is the study thread. You may want to post your questions on the Express entry thread so you get a very concise and detailed answer to your query. Luje:More often, applicants are unable to justify why a company would expend a significantly huge amount of funds to sponsor an employee. More to this is the usage of the company's account statement as proof of funds. It usually a difficult place to be in convincing a visa officer that declared funds will be readily available to the applicant. This is always due to the fact that applicants provided unsatisfying reasons justifiable for a company to undertake such responsibility on a long term and with funds assumed to be for running of the organisation. You will really need to prove to the officer how the company is going to benefit from your study trip and why the funds you presented is being used for your study. Also, i would assume you are not the sole signatory to the company's account, you will also convince the officer that indeed, you will have access to the funds you declared in your application form. Have these at the back of your mind as you consider using a company sponsorship. Regards. 2 Likes |

Electroweb:What is your "relative" primary intention to go to canada, to study or to emigrate? Your questions are suggestive of the latter but then, the burden would be on this your relative to prove to the officer the primary intention and why? Be it BSC, MSC or PHD. So help your "relative" to know this or better still, advise him/her to read all necessary and useful information on this thread. |

@Bkaylore Here is my honest advise for you. Defer your admission to the next available term. Get your GCMS note and take your time. Be patient and get it right in the next application. You will be doing yourself so much good if you don't show officers any form of desperation. You are already being questioned on your purpose of visit regarding your proposed program(this is the main issue in your case) and other reasons. I don't want to believe that you want to give officers a good reason to refuse your application again for same reason. Applying immediately without addressing previous refusal reasons and giving the officer reasons why your reapplication should be approved and what you have done differently or a broadened and convincing perspective about your intent will result in same outcome irrespective of what you write.(you will need to know what to even write about in response to the refusal especially concerning purpose of visit). The actual reason will most likely bother around the fact that the officer was not satisfied that your intention is genuine and also not satisfied that you would leave Canada after your study. Once you show any form of desperation, it will will jeopardize your chances for a different outcome in your reapplication. This is my advise. You may choose to do otherwise. Regards. 2 Likes |

Bkaylore: Sorry about the outcome of your application. You'll need to relax alittle bit. Go through the emotion and cool off then we all can help you tackle your next application. It's only human to feel disappointed but things will be fine soon. Also, you may need to get your immigration file(GCMS note). It is a more detailed report on the officer's conclusion on why your application was refused. Kindly refer to page 0 of this part to see how to order for it. Not to worry, once you are able to get the file, it will become easier to help with the issue. Endeavour to request for it ASAP and we'll be here to help you. Regards. |

SamReinvented: Most schools in Canada would have applicants upload a soft copy of their transcripts online on the application portal and upon admission, official transcripts would be requested and sent directly from the issuing institution in a sealed envelop bearing all appropraite stamps, seals and signatures. I don't see how sending it for evaluation now would prevent it from being requested for subsequently. That being said, evaluation of educational credentials are majorly done for immigration or job purposes especially in Canada simply because these institutions requesting such evaluation do not have the capacity to evaluate it themselves and the authorized evaluation body most likely will request official documentation sent from the issuing schools at each time of evaluation. Universities, colleges, schools etc have the capacity to evaluate each credential submitted because they are educational institutions and have commitees responsible for such evaluation. So i believe they will not have to request for an evaluated degree at any time of application for admission. The idea of request of official document is to confirm the authenticity of the document(s). A conferred degree can be withdrawn from the recipient at anytime if later discovered the recipient fell short of the award. So official transcripts will ALWAYS be requested at any application for evaluation or admission. Concerning cost of these evaluations, it totally will be dependent on the requirements and procedures. Josh121:To some extent yes but not solely. There should be evidence of such interest and from instances that would show that indeed it is genuinely intended and not a ploy to leave the country. SOP alone may not be enough considering her age and assumed priorities(the VO will figure this out through his/her discretion). Compelling enough as well as convincing enough. Anybody can write anything they don't actually mean. Nothing beats evidence with written words. That will be her best bet. Nobody just wakes up and switch career. There must be a reason or preceding activity in the new field. She must convince the officer that such switch is not out of frustration but from passion or a strong interest. 1 Like |

Josh121:First question is What compelled such switch? If it is strong enough, and she can convince the visa officer, then she has a chance. Otherwise, It will be difficult. |

sassyangel1:Firstly, you will have to identify what you truly want and what your desirables are. This will help you cluster your aim and project you as a genuine student when you eventually apply for your study permit. That being mentioned, your next move should be a graduate program preferably a master degree program. However, since there is a little career switch in your progression, you may want to look for a program in this field. A PGD in security would also suffice. Note that in choosing and getting admitted in either program, you MUST satisfy an officer that your choice program is what you need and what would help you move up in advancement of your CURRENT indulgence. A PGD would sail since it is a new field from your previous degree and also a step forward in your current activity. A master degree would even make it easier if you can get one. Issues surrounding choice of program often time are raised because these programs are not presented to officers in such a way that it shows the applicant's interest, plans and intention to leave Canada upon completion of program. You should pay attention to these areas and outline them in your application and why it is significant for you. Once you are able to do so, you would likely have a good chance with your study permit application. |

LagosismyHome:The stipulated processing time at any time on CIC's website does not always mean applications will stay through that time frame. It only means and shows the window period opened by that visa office for study permit applications due to several factors that can be encountered during processing including high volume of applications. Majority of applications do not stay that long. Only on few cases. So applicants should be more concerned about putting in a good and strong application meeting the requirements and then stay positive. Decisions can be randomly made and/or on a rolling basis. 3 Likes |

TDultimate:Not really. You have to download the form first before you open it. Some CIC forms that need Validation(eg, IMM1294) have encoding that prevents it from opening on certain web browser or other pdf reader aside Adobe 10 or newer version. This is secure the information on it when validated over the internet. So ensure you download the form and use an Adobe 10 reader to open it. Here is a link to how you can go about downloading and saving the form if you haven't already. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=660&top=18 1 Like |

If you can afford the fees in Canada, it's not a bad option. If you the USA education is giving you a lead start to you desirables academically, still not a bad option. Everything comes down to what it is for you and your goals. You should adequately identify them and proceed as you deem satisfactory. 6 Likes 1 Share |

hotcakept2:I hardly would know precisely any school that would accept your CGPA. You need to search for yourself and read the minimum requirements for your interested program. So do well by identifying your area of interest and use the internet resources to your advantage. Also note that admission is not only subjected to your CGPA. Depending on the type of master program you are interested in, requirements could cut across a sound research interest proposal, exceptionally good academic or professional profile etc. All these informations are usually stated on the website of most universities in Canada but firstly, you'll have to meet the minimum requirement for the program you are interested in. Sadly, It may be highly competitive considering your CGPA. |

vibrant99:Firstly, congratulations on the award of scholarship. You see, the issue here is really not about the scholarship but about you being able to convince the VO that you will indeed complete your course and leave Canada. So the onus lies on you squarely to satisfy the officer that completing the certification is your primary motive and also why you have to get it in Canada, how it would improve your current circumstance and that your will leave Canada(this is actually the most important). They are largely not really interested in how you got the scholarship(You can use this to you advantage in convincing them though) or how much your program cost but must be convinced you will obey the conditions that will be imposed on your temporary stay during your program, can sustain yourself and will depart Canada at the end of your authorized stay should your visa be approved. You can get your TRV approved if you satisfactory convince them. Considering the short term nature of your certification and also considering you won't need to apply for a study permit, you will have to do a good job answering their unending questions of 'WHY'. The onus is on you. Lastly, you won't have to go to the embassy. All processing and documentation are submitted at VFS also know as Canadian Visa application center(CVAC). You can find out more info about them here https://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/nigeria/index.html 3 Likes |

vibrant99:Before you make these considerations, one important thing to ascertain is if the certification is obtainable in Nigeria. This is where it will even start from(from the VO's perspective). If it is not, then you will have to convince officers why you can't do it else where aside Canada and why you have to do it in Canada considering the expenses and the duration of the program. It will be from that considerations that you will proceed. Aside this, i'm afraid you risk your application to be refused on your purpose of visit even though you may not have to apply for a study permit. |

Naturalized:Actually, @blessings2017 is correct. An applicant applies for a study permit and NOT a temporary resident visa(TRV) hence the usage of the IMM1294 form. However, since a TRV is required for a non visa exempt applicant to enable him/her travel to Canada to obtain the study permit that was approved. it is automatically issued once the Study permit application is approved without a separate application. A temporary resident visa can be applied for directly eg Visiting, business etc. These categories of Temporary resident visas does not require a permit and hence an applicant will have to apply using the IMM5257 form(application for a temporary visa). So yes, a study permit fall under a 'PERMIT' even though a TRV is also issued. 1 Like |

saucepan:1. Credit cards are mostly accepted for application fees payment. 2. Most schools will require you upload an unoffficial copy of your transcripts online and upon admission, the official ones would be requested. So read the instruction on your school's website for required documentation. They should guide you better. |

TDultimate: Apparently, you answered the checklist questions as applying to renew your study permit hence the supplementary provision for those documents. You'll have to answer the questionaire questions again and provide the appropriate answers. It will provide the necessary tab for you if you are applying for a study permit for the first time. |
