Politics / Under Ojuelegba Flyover, Now A Center For Political Conference & Stadium (PHOTO) by autojosh: 1:49pm On Oct 18, 2018
The rehabilitation and remodeling of under Ojuelegba Flyover commenced early this year.

The project timeline was designed to be within 24 weeks. Sadly, that project has since overshot the completion deadline.

Worse still, the project appears to have been abandoned.

While we remain optimistic that work would resume at under Ojuelegba Flyover, for now the location has become a major meeting point for political discourse and for sporting activities.

It is now common sight to behold a motley crew of Lagosians congregating around a newspaper stand under the Ojuelegba flyover. The objective of the gathering is to discuss politics. The discussions are typically heated. The topics of discussion are often determined by the news headlines of the day on major newspapers.

Also, it is also a prominent feature to see young boys converting a section of the yet-to-be-completed under the flyover as a football field.

Indeed, it has become a case of making something out of a bad situation.

The remodeling project of under Ojuelegba flyover is part of the effective utilization of spaces under flyovers in Lagos state project.

The project is under the supervision of the Lagos state Ministry of Housing.

The contractor in charge of the remodeling of under Ojuelegba flyover is Indepthartistry Limited.

Celebrities / Chris Brown: 6 Bizarre Paint Jobs That He Did On His Cars (PHOTOS) by autojosh: 5:28pm On Oct 16, 2018

Chris Brown is an American singer, songwriter, and actor.

As it is with several other music stars, at an early age, Chris Brown was involved in his church choir and several local talent shows.

In 2004, he was signed to Jive Records. The following year, he released his self-titled debut studio album. And ever since, he has achieved so much in terms of awards, fortune, global recognition, and of course - controversies.

His star status has amassed so much for him.

For instance, like other wealthy celebrities, he has acquired an exquisite array of choice automobiles.

However, what is unique about Chris Brown is his unusual taste - bizarre, maybe - in automotive arts. He’s is famous for having his cars kitted out with some crazy themes.

Anyway, here are 5 Cars that the “I will Transform you” crooner owns that he transformed into work of automotive arts.

Lamborghini Gallardo

Well, if Chris Brown had to do any artistic stuff on his car – you would never believe he would do this to his Lamborghini Gallardo.

Seeing it, you might see it as gibberish airbrushed on this expensive car.

Its’s actually Tupac lyrics. Chris partnered with tattoo artist, Huero to get the lyrics of Pac’s “Lord Knows” painted on the hood and top of his car.

Lamborghini Aventador

For instance, he has a Lamborghini Aventador. He had the bodywork redone to look like a fighter jet. His Aventador, which can achieve a 300km/hr. speed, ends up appearing like a combat plane

Lamborghini Gallardo

Clearly, Chris Brown has built a reputation as a Lamborghini enthusiast. One of the lambo in his collection is this  "remixed" Lamborghini Gallardo. The car was remodeled for him by the famous West Coast Customs shop. Together with the pain-job, some additional body work was done. It was created as part of their new season of TV shows on Fox Sports. Chris calls the car "El Toro."

Porsche Panamera

Well, it might look like a mess, but this work apparently was done to inspire horror, was once painted on the gates of Brown’s Hollywood Hills home. However, his neighbours did not find it funny. He was forced to repaint the gate. Perhaps, to get back at his neighbours, he had the design done on his Porsche Panamera. He purchased the car for $90 000.

Lamborghini Aventador SV

He doesn’t hide the fact that he is a fan of Dragonball Z (Yea. Gohan is his boy). To make it further known, he gave a Dragonball Z-theme to his Lamborghini Aventador SV.

On the hood of his red Lamborghini, the face of Son Goku rests. He has a tattoo and necklace of Goku.

Lamborghini Aventador

Chris Brown’s always gets what he wants, regardless of the popular opinions.

The singer decided to give a custom touch to his V12-powered machine. Thus, the supercar received a camouflage-like paint job. The camo look was inspired by Nike’s sneakers of the same design.

He approached California-based car art company, JC Customz of Bellflower,  for the job, asking them to paint the car like his Nike sneakers.

Car Talk / Unbelievable Tokunbo Cars Spotted In Lagos (Shocking Photos) by autojosh: 3:16pm On Oct 16, 2018

Anytime we visit car lots, we are usually excited about how clean and sparkling the displayed cars are. Autojosh.com is here to tell you that "All that glitters is not gold".

This badly damaged Toyota Corolla was spotted at the port some weeks ago. It will be refurbished and sold to an unsuspecting Nigerian who would think they've gotten an excellent deal. You can also see the accident ridden Lexus RX350 and Mercedes-Benz GLK that we spotted in the photos below.

This is one of the reasons we've always warned about how well you know the car you are buying, because what you see may not be what you get. This is why the importance of VIN checks can never be overemphasized. Before you buy a car, make sure you read about some of the things car sellers don't want you to know HERE

If you were given access to peep into what goes on behind the scene, your jaw will drop and your mouth will be left wide opened like that of Jim Carrey "The Mask"

Do you carry out thorough checks on any car you want to buy or do you just go ahead with what ever you've been told by the seller? Tell us in the comment section below.

Travel / 5-Junction In Benin City When It Rains: See What It Looks Like (Photos) by autojosh: 12:40pm On Oct 16, 2018

This is the popular 5-Junction in Benin City, Edo state.

The “5-Junction” is one of the major roads in the city that serves the Benin Metropolis.

Daily, thousands of motorists and public transportation, especially to and from the Eastern part of Nigeria, use this road.

5- Junction was one of the most complicated areas in the state. The road was afflicted by flooding and erosion. For years, it was left in a state of disrepair.

However, in 2013, the Adams Oshionmhole-led administration remodeled and reconstructed the 5-Junction in order to salvage it from years of erosion and flooding.

The remodeling and reconstruction work on the 5-Junction involved the construction of Service Lanes on both sides of Akpakpava- Dawson-Uselu-Ugbowo section of Benin Ofosu Road.

It also involved concrete works, beautification, walkways and streetlights as well as laying of asphaltic concrete pavement into connecting streets.

However, the primary focus was on flooding and erosion control.

The Contractor in charge of the reconstruction project was Reynolds Construction Company (RCC).

The project was completed in 2013.

Today, the 5-Junction, which was constructed without any consideration for placing road-signs around it, appears to be relapsing to its former condition. Flooding has resumed at that strategic transport location.

Apparently, the drainage system built around it is inadequate to control the flooding on the popular junction in Benin-city.

Travel / 15 Interesting Things To Know About Cars, Driving And Motoring In North Korea by autojosh: 5:33pm On Oct 15, 2018

1. Owning a vehicle in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is typically restricted to government and military officials.

2. The equivalent of an ordinary North Korean owning a car is like owning a private jet in advanced economies.

3. Overall, the amount of cars in North Korean per 1000 people is 1 to 10.

4. In North Korea, the highest allowed speed limit is 70 km/h or 43 mph.

5. North Korean roads have three lanes with a different speed limit for each of them. The 70km/h lane, the fastest, is reserved for senior government officials.

6. Sometimes, during rush hour in North Korea, one car can sometimes have ten lanes all to itself on very wide expressways.

7. Korea has roughly 25,554 km of roads, with only 724 km being paved – just under 3%. The rest are dirt and gravel. This is according to the CIA World Factbook.

8.Due to issues with the electricity grids, traffic lights are replaced with specially trained human traffic controllers. The robotic movements of these traffic controllers might seem awkward to a visitor to North Korea.

9. The use of HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlights are outlawed. This was after President Kim Jong-Un complained about being blinded by them.

10. In North Korean textbooks, it is documented that the president Kim Jong-Un learnt how to drive at age 3. It is also documented that he won a yacht race against the CEO of a foreign yacht company at the age of 9.

11. In 1974, the North Korean government bought 1000 Volvo 144 sedans, which they still haven’t paid for. Till date, the car manufacturers still sends bi-annual reminders about the owed amount – $393 000 000 with the interest factored in.

12. Drunk driving, or speeding, show elite status in North Korea. The act of driving a car shows power and authority so speeding or driving reckless or under influence is considered as a show of status.

13. Travel to North Korea is tightly controlled. The standard route to and from North Korea is by plane or train via Beijing International Airport. Transport directly to and from South Korea was possible on a limited scale from 2003 until 2008, when a road was opened (bus tours, no private cars). Freedom of movement in North Korea is also limited, as citizens are not allowed to move around freely inside their country.

14. Getting a driver’s license in North Korea is very competitive. The process can take more than a year. More so, the opportunities are typically limited to children from wealthy families or those of high-level executive officers.

15. There are only two driving academies in the whole of North Korea. Typically, hundreds of student wait for their turn to take their test and graduate. Many of them wait for more than a year.

Travel / The Disgraceful State Of Roads In GRA, Benin-City (PHOTOS) by autojosh: 1:25pm On Oct 15, 2018
Like most Government Reservation Areas (GRA) in Nigeria - GRA, Benin city is where top government officials, senior civil servants, captains of industry, powerful industrialists, politicians, top bankers and other high-net-worth Edo state residents live.

The Edo State Government House is also located there .

Some famous streets in GRA, Benin city include Reservation Road, Boundary Road, Ihama Road, Akhionbare, Adesuwa Road and Osadebey Avenue, etc.

Sadly, most of these roads are in a terrific state of disrepair.

Currently, some of the roads, or a significant section of these roads, in Benin GRA have been completely abandoned by motorists. This is because floodwater typically concentrate on some of the bad portions of these roads, making motoring quite tasking.

Residents of the location laments about how their cries over the years have fallen on the deaf ears of successive Edo state governments. They claim that their lamentations date as far back as the Lucky Igbinedion-led administration.

Quite noticeable on these roads are the complete absence of drainage systems on the streets and roads in GRA, Benin city.

GRA, Benin is also home to several of the state's most upscale hotels, schools, commercial ventures, etc.  These enterprises represent some of the most taxed commercial enterprises in Edo state.

GRA Benin city is located in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo state.

Evbareke Jenkins Osunde is the Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council.

The Governor of Edo state is Godwin Obaseki.

Car Talk / 9 Most Expensive Cars That Were Found Abandoned (PHOTOS) by autojosh: 5:03pm On Oct 10, 2018
These cars cost a fortune to acquire.

Millions of people can only dream of owning them.

But for whatever reasons – their owners left them abandoned.

These luxury automobiles were abandoned for diverse reasons. For instance, some were abandoned for the crime of default on loans. Some were abandoned for technical faults. Some were found abandoned after their owners committed suicide, etc.

For whatever reasons for their abandonment, perhaps, it lends credence to the theory of these luxury automotive toys being objects of vanity.

Autojosh.com presents, 10  Most Expensive Cars That Were Found Abandoned.

Shelby Daytona Coupe

There were only six Shelby Daytona Coupes were ever built. One of them was later discovered abandoned. It was later discovered that its owner had committed suicide. All trace of it was lost in the 1970s. It was found in 2001 and auctioned off for $4 million. It is now kept in a museum in Philadelphia.

Bugatti Veyron

The Bugatti Veyron is one of the fastest cars in the world.  At $1.5 million, it is also one of the priciest cars in the market. But apparently, cost is not a thing to the its Russian owner that left the car abandoned left to gather dust.

Ferrari Enzo

This dusty Ferrari Enzo was found abandoned. It was abandoned after its British owner allegedly fled after failing to pony up for a series of traffic fines. The police then seized the car. After a flood of reports claiming the Enzo was headed to the auction block, the authorities revealed that along with nine other cars (including a Ferrari 599 and 430 Spider), it is the subject of an Interpol investigation concerning its theft.

LeMans Blue Jaguar XJ220

Only 281 of the LeMans Blue Jaguar XJ220 was manufactured. This particular one was last seen in Beirut where it was purchased. This was 6 years before being found at the edge of a Qatari desert.  The price of the car then was around $500,000.

Rolls Royce Phantom “Centurion”

The Centurion, this is a custom-built Rolls Royce Phantom. It was manufactured for a customer that resided in Las Vegas. It was later sold and exported to Russia. The luxury car was later found on the side of a suburban railroad in Russia. An unmodified version of this Rolls Royce costs about $350,000.

Maybach 57

The Maybach 57 costs $380,000 before Daimler discontinued the brand.  In 2012, this particular one was found in a parking lot in Cannes, France.  It was parked there for about 4 years. Apart from the suspension that weakened, and the hood ornaments that were missing, the car was still functioning.

Ferrari F40

This particular Ferrari F40 belonged to Saddam’s oldest son, Uday Hussein. Uday was known for his love of money, women and super cars. He kept a massive collection of luxury cars.

He purchased the Ferrari F40 sometime during the Gulf War. A Ferrari F40s sold for around $450,000.The car was abandoned in the latter stages of the Iraq war, where he was eventually killed in a shoot-out with American Troops. It can still be found beside a dusty track somewhere in rural Iraq.

Lamborghini Miura

This particular Lamborghini Miura was bought by Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis for Stamatis “Greek Elvis” Kokotas 1969. In 1972, the engine after some rigours caved in. It was left abandoned in the underground parking lot of a Hilton in Athens while the engine was sent to Lamborghini for repairs. Kokotas lost interest, didn’t pay Lambo and the poor Miura was left standing there for 30 years. When the Lambo was put up for auction in 2012, having been reunited with its engine, bidding stalled at $483,210.

Aston Martin DB4

This prototype Aston Martin was found in a decrepit shed after not being driven for about 40 years.  The classic car was parked in the woods by its owner in the 1970s and hasn't been moved since. The Aston Martin DB4 was the first production car capable of doing 0-100-0mph in less than 30 seconds when it was launched in 1958. It was built to compete with sports cars from Ferrari and Maserati - but this particular model has not moved in almost half a century. Despite being partially buried in leaves after languishing in a wood for more than 40 years it was auctioned off for $580,000.

Travel / Lagos VIS Now Use Street Cameras To Capture Cars With Invalid Documents by autojosh: 7:51pm On Oct 09, 2018
Last year, the Lagos State Government launched an e-inspection and e-billing system which will use Street Cameras, Car Number Plate Recognition and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) to identify vehicles plying Lagos Roads without valid documents.

The street cameras will capture vehicles randomly as seen in the photo inset in the bill below, the details of the vehicle will be run through the vehicle database and a bill will be sent to the house of the owners of errant vehicles.

This is no fiction as people have started getting such bills in their houses and a team will be sent to your house to impound your car if you do not pay the fine or correct any inconsistent bill within 7 days.

The owner of the Uber fleet Toyota Echo seen in the photo below was at work last week Wednesday (3rd October 2018) when he got a call from his security man who told him he had a letter from Lagos State Government. It was the VIS at his doorstep with a N20,000 bill. Offense was - No valid Roadworthiness Certificate (RWC). The fines may range from N20, 000 to N250, 000, depending on the offence and the number of times you have been caught.

In order to avoid any form of embarrassment, the owner of the car visited the VIS office in Alausa on Monday and to his surprise, other car owners had been caught with fake vehicle licences, road worthiness and insurance certificates. Someone even had a fake comprehensive insurance certificate. The cameras also check for non-functioning headlights and tail lights. A man whose car was caught got so embarrassed that he has been fighting with the VIS officials to come and help him beg his landlord.

Fortunately for the owner of the Echo, they realized his car had a valid Roadworthiness Certificate after checking their database. The problem was from VIS after all and he was asked to come back for a clean-bill. The man was furious for his wasted time and energy. Some other vehicle owners were not that fortunate as they had to pay the huge fines.

If your vehicle papers are genuine, you should get an SMS notification when registering it. According to the VIS officials, short codes will be made available to check the authenticity of vehicle documents. You can also confirm the authenticity of your vehicle insurance HERE or use this short code *565*11# at the rate of N20.

If you were excited that the Vehicle Inspection Officers have been ordered off Lagos roads, this may hit you as a bad news because they are still watching from their office through those lenses.

Have you been caught before? Do you think this is a good development or are you against it? Tell us what you think in the comment section.

Travel / China’s 10-day Traffic Gridlock - The Worst And The Longest In History (PHOTOS) by autojosh: 6:17pm On Oct 09, 2018

The day was August 14, 2010.

Millions of Chinese were returning from the Golden Week, a week-long Chinese national holiday.

The National Highways - the China National Highway 110 (G110) and Beijing–Tibet expressway (G6), in Hebei and Inner Mongolia - were clogged with vehicles.

Some of the Highways were 50-lane roads. Nevertheless, this did not help matters.

People took the opportunity to get out of their cars and stretch their legs. Truck drivers went underneath their trucks, and took a nap under their vehicles.

Of course, you won't blame them - drivers were able to move their vehicles only 1 km (0.6 mi) per day. Not per hour, per day!  Many of them were stuck in the traffic jam for five days.

The volume of vehicular traffic on the road traffic at the time of the incident was 60% more than the design capacity.

Locals near the highway saw the gridlock as an advantage to make money. They made a brisk harvest from the situation.

Road-side vendors and hawkers started charging insanely inflated prices for food, water, instant noodles and cigarettes at inflated prices - sometimes up to 400%.  Some vendors created mobile stores on bicycles.

The Roadside vendors and hawkers had thousands of vehicles stretched down as far as 100 kilometers (60 mi) to cater for. The gridlock lasted for two weeks.

The China’s National Highway 110 gridlock is considered as one of the one of the Worst and longest traffic gridlock in history.

China is home to about 1.4billion humans.

Dhaka is followed by cities like Kolkata, India (62.80minutes); Nairobi, Kenya (56.43minutes), Tehran, India (54.73 minutes), etc.

Other cities that made the top ranking are listed below.

Curiously, one wonders why Lagos, Nigeria did not make the top rankings list, given the fact that an average commuter spends far more than an hour commuting around the city - even higher than those that topped the ranking.

Or is there a better explanation for this?
