A new pedestrian bridge built by the Lagos state government has been completed.

The bridge which is located at the  Secretariat bus stop, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The pedestrian bridge will particularly be of benefit to residents of the Magodo 2-CBD-Alausa-Secretariat axis of the state.

For years, residents of that axis had yearned for a pedestrian bridge to enable pedestrians navigate both sides of the ever busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway section of the area.

In the past, many people have lost their lives there in an attempt to cross the road.

In response to their yearnings, the indefatigable Governor Ambode graciously approved the construction of a pedestrian Bridge at that location.

The pedestrian bridge is designed to link the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, with Magodo Phase 2 gate on CMD Road along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The Pedestrian Bridge is being constructed by the the contractor, China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC).

This is Lagos.

Specifically, this is a very important road in Ikeja GRA, Lagos state.

It is the Old Secretariat Road, Ikeja GRA.

Several very important Lagos state institutions are located along this road.

For instance, along this road is home to Lagos state institutions such as the Old State Secretariat which houses several Lagos state agencies and magistrate courts.

Along this road are located the Lagos State High Court, The State Secretariat of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), The Ikeja Police Barrack, the Office Of The Accountant General of Local Governments, the Lagos State Electricity Board, etc.

Ironically, the headquarters of the Lagos State Urban Renewal Authority is located along this road.

Indeed, a lot better is expected from Nigeria’s most progressive state.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has signed an MOU with Europe's largest automotive manufacturer, Volkswagen, to produce a number of its vehicles in the country.

This was part of the events during the visit by the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, to Nigeria on the 31st of August, 2018.

The Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okey Okechukwu Enelamah, signed on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria, and Thomas Schaefer, CEO and Chairman of Volkswagen's Africa operations signed on behalf of Volkswagen.

Thomas Schaefer and Volkswagen have been working with the DG of the National Automotive Design and Development Council, Jelani Aliyu, and the agency towards the company's entry into Nigeria and the setting up of local production.

Early July this year, the National Automotive Design and Development Council and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment had hosted Volkswagen and other global OEMs in Abuja.

Aliyu mentioned, "This MOU with Volkswagen is a progressive development as a result of that earlier engagement, and we are particularly excited because the company is very committed to new applicable technology and the local production of modern, safe and energy efficient vehicles which would be optimized for our environment."

"With Volkswagen, we have a strong stakeholder who understands the huge potential in the Nigerian market, and we are a perfect match to the company's efforts towards innovative mobility services which would both compliment and boost our economic structure."

Volkswagen has recently started vehicle production in the East African country of Rwanda this year.

Nigeria provides an even larger market, both within the country and as a gateway to the West African region.

Kids will always like to try out something new wherever they find themselves; they are very curious creatures.

Kids inside a car are not exempted from being this curious. There is this tendency in them to explore several things in the car. They would love to press buttons within their reach, they would as well love to pull levers etc.

Child lock safety feature is a very important feature. Especially for those who have kids on board.

You may not know what's going on in the back seat when you're driving. Just locking the doors might not be enough. Therefore, the child lock provides second level security.

It's advisable to always use the 'child locks' in your car when you have kids riding in the back seat.

Child lock if engaged makes it impossible for the car door to be opened from inside. The door can only be opened from outside. That means you'll only open it from outside when it's safe to do so .

Another good thing about this child lock is that it is put in such a place that when the door is shut, it can’t be accessed. It can be accessed only when the door is opened.

It is very simple to use.

Open the rear door and look for where it is indicated as seen in the picture above; then push the lever towards the lock position.

Some of us are ignorant of the cruise control feature found in most modern cars. I am going to make the explanation of cruise control as simple as possible.

The cruise control enables your car travel at a particular speed you set it to even when you take off your leg from the accelerator (throttle).

As said earlier, myriads of people are ignorant of this cruise control feature more of trying it out.

The primary aim is to make long journeys more comfortable and it will also help you save money on fuel.

This cruise control is not what you can use when you’re in a congested road where you have to stop and start at all times; steady speed is vital. It can only be used when you’re driving above 25 mph. It won’t work for any speed below that.

The above point will point fingers to just driving on highway and not streets filled with traffic lights.

The main controls are usually located in the steering wheel or a column stalk behind the steering wheel. The main controls are ‘Set’, ‘Cancel’, ‘Resume’ and ‘On/Off’.

You can usually adjust the programmed speed up or down using the same buttons – check your owner’s manual for specific instructions for your car. To initiate cruise control for your car, you need to accelerate to the desired speed over 25 mph – then press ‘Set’. Your car will now maintain its current speed without the need to keep your foot on the accelerator. The procedure for activating the cruise control may vary from one car to another

Turning off cruise control is as simple as applying the brake, pressing the ‘Cancel’ or ‘On/Off’ buttons or pushing the clutch pedal in a manual car.

he construction of the Alagbole-Odo-Yakoyo flyover commenced close to a decade ago.

The flyover is intended to connect the Alagbole-Akute axis of Ogun state to Ojodu-Berger axis of Lagos state.

During those extensive period of construction of the flyover, it was a hell of an experience for residents of Akute, Ajuwon, Lambe and neighbouring communities.


The flyover – which is one of the 3 flyovers being constructed within that location – suffered several abandonments.

Thankfully, work as reached completion stage. It is expected that the project would be rounded off before the end of the year.

The Alagbole-Yokoyo Flyover flyover connects the Ogun state to Lagos state.

This flyover is part of a 32km road construction project, that also includes the construction of 5 bridges.

It is being constructed by the Ibikunle Amosu-led Ogun state government.

Brabus' recipe for the new G has been spotted. More power, massive 23-inch wheels, and carbon fiber. The reputable German aftermarket specialist is unveiling an entirely new project. It’s one of the first tuners to work on the 2019 G-Class and they’ve managed to get their hands on a shiny new G500.

Their first order of business was to upgrade the engine. The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine has been tweaked to develop an additional 78 horsepower and 74 pound-feet of torque for a grand total of 493 hp at 5,600 rpm and a mountain-moving 524 lb-ft from 2,250 rpm. Thanks to the newly gained muscle, the high-riding Mercedes will run to 62 mph (100 kph) in only 5.7 seconds and will continue to accelerate until an electronic top speed limiter will kick in at 130 mph (210 kph).

Aside from fiddling with the eight-cylinder powerhouse, Brabus decided to work on the G-Class’ appearance and can offer customers a wider array of alloy wheel designs in sizes from 20 up to 23 inches, with the biggest ones wrapped in 305/35 R23 tires. What catches the attention the most is not the size of the wheels, but the custom hood made from carbon fiber, complete with a functional scoop. A multitude of carbon fiber accents can be seen all over the G-Class’ boxy body, which has also gained roof-mounted LED lights at the front and a spoiler at the back.

At an additional cost, Brabus is also offering a stainless steel exhaust system with a pair of chrome tips on each side and with a choice between a neighborly “coming home” mode and a louder sport mode making the V8 scream. Thanks to actively controlled flaps, the driver will be able to simply pick between the two modes. Inside, sky’s the limit when it comes to personalizing the G’s cabin. Multiple types of leather can be combined with the finest Alcantara and a carbon fiber trim. There are also aluminum pedals and scuff plates, and even wood accents in a variety of finishes. As nice as this G500 is, we’re honestly waiting for Brabus to work its magic on the new G63.

This happened in New Jersey. Almost a dozen cars were sent floating down a river in Little Falls, New Jersey after a dealership was flooded Saturday evening.

One of the most beautiful sights to behold is that of waterfronts and canals. From the Canals in Venice, Italy to the rivers in some of our villages, they always make us feel good when we see them.

However, same thing can’t be said about these waterways Autojosh.com spotted in Yaba area of Lagos. These pictures were specifically taken in Makoko-Iwaya area in Yaba. This is a low-income community where a large number of the residents live on water. Very dirty water!

Makoko is made up of 6 separated villages. They are all spread across land and water. These villages are Oko Agbon, Adogbo, Migbewhe, Yanshiwhe, Sogunro and Apollo. The first four are the floating communities, known as Makoko waterfront; the rest are based on land.


A third of the shelters in Makoko is built on stilts along the lagoon and the rest is on the land.

This waterfront part of the community is largely harboured by the Egun people who migrated from Badagry and Republic of Benin and whose main occupation is fishing

Makoko has a population estimated to be 250,000.

Residents there commute within and around the community via small fishing boats. For instance, these, boats will charge N50 – N100 to haul you around the community while you suffocate in the stench coming from down below.

According to the World Bank, Makoko is one of the 9 major slums in Lagos state.

The other slums are Agege, Ajegunle, Amokoko, Badia, Iwaya, Ilaje, Bariga, Ijeshatedo -Itire.

Makoko is in Yaba Local Government area of Lago state.

The Executive Chairman of Yaba Local Government Area is Omiyale Kayode Adejare.

Akinwunmi Ambode is the governor of Lagos state.

The Lagos - Ibadan railway project also known as L-I railway project is a 156.075 km long section of the Lagos - Kano project. The track will link Apapa port in Lagos to Ibadan in Oyo State with a total of 9 stations Lagos Apapa port, Agege, Agbado, Kajola, Papalanto, Abeokuta, Olodo Omi-Adio and Ibadan.
