Which election?,1979 election was won by Shagari with over 5million votes,Awolowo came second with 3million votes and Azikwe came third with over 2million.

Both Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikwe contested the 1979 presidential election with Philip Umeadi and Ishaya Audu respectively,both Christians as running mates.
Muslims didn't cause any uproar then especially in the Southwest where majority were Muslims,and they voted massively for Awolowo.
Anybody that didn't see anything wrong with the choices of both Awolowo and Azikwe then and are criticizing Tinubu's choice now is a pure hypocrite.

But,come to think of it again,if we want to avoid this type of problem in the future,Nigeria must switch to parliamentary system of government,because every Nigerian irrespective of tribe or religion have right to aspire to the highest position in the land,otherwise this problem will rear it's ugly head again in the not too distant future.
