olowo200: Why can't NTA broadcast falconets' match live?

Have they forgotten so quickly that football is a weapon that has brought our tribes together as one in the past?

Even boko haram watch matches.

Gone are those days when you can watch any Nigeria competitive match on NTA. Same thing applies to the Olympics not a single Nigerian match was broadcasted live and yet they preached togetherness we seem to have lost it as a nation.
NTA would not show falconets games, care to know why? If they do, they would not have enough time to advertise PDP..

Politics / Re: Minna-kaduna Railway Service Is Finally Up And Running! by ay0201(m): 6:59am On Aug 29, 2012
OAM4J: Nigeria Railway Corporation to commence full services on Lagos-Kano line

The Nigerian Railway Corporation says it has rehabilitated 117 engines and coaches.

The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) will soon commence full services on its Lagos-Kano route, the Managing Director, Seyi Sijuade, has said.

He said the recent successful rehabilitation of 117 engines and coaches would enable the corporation to resume haulage and passenger services on the Lagos-Kano line.Mr. Sijuade said this in Minna on Sunday while rolling out the first phase of the rehabilitated engines and coaches for the Minna-Kaduna daily train services.“The Lagos-Kano service will start in a few weeks’ time and we intend to ply the route twice a week,” he said.

Represented by the Director of Operations, Niyi Ali, the managing director attributed the successful restoration of train services in parts of the country to the “ingenuity of the corporation’s engineers and technicians”.

He said that the effort of the staff in refurbishing the engines and coaches locally had helped to save cost.“We are going back to the good old days, where everything was done in-house.

“A lot of these equipment are specialised equipment acquired by the corporation, but we are looking forward to a time when
our staff will produce these things locally and we are starting now.

“Compared to contract cost, these in-house refurbishments will save us a lot of money. It’s not just about the immediate savings, we are also talking about the long term benefits when we learn to do everything in-house,” he said.

In his remarks, the Niger Commissioner for Transport, Abubakar Ahmed, appealed to the federal government to rehabilitate and upgrade the Baro railway line.

“We are aware that the federal government is dredging the Baro River and the road there is terribly bad. So we are calling on the federal government to rehabilitate and upgrade the Baro railway station to aid the movement of people and goods,” he said.

He said that the state government is working with the railway corporation to enhance rail services in the state.

Politics / Re: Are The Yoruba The Number One In Religious Tolerance? by ay0201(m): 6:42am On Aug 25, 2012
johnie:
Abiala, Titus
c. 1845 to 1944
Anglican
Nigeria

Titus Abiala was born around 1843 at Ajibesin compound, Modakeke via Ile-Ife, in Modakeke Local Government Area, Osun State, Nigeria. His parents were part of the Modakeke people group, and were followers of Obatala (a Yoruba divinity). In the late 1890s Abiala converted to Christianity after being influenced by the catechist of St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Ita Asin in Modakeke. He then was baptized and took on the baptismal name "Titus." Although he had no formal education, Abiala was able to read the Bible in the Yoruba language.

In 1909 there was a political clash between the Modakeke and Ife people that led to the dispersal of the Modakeke to different Yoruba towns, including Gbongan, Ikire, Apomu, Tonkere, and Odeomu. Abiala decided to settle in Gbongan and became the first person to make Christianity known there.

The place where Abiala settled in Gbongan was named Ajibesin compound after his ancestral home in Modakeke. Here he began a Bible study group with a few Christian immigrants from Modakeke. They met near a blacksmith's workshop, in the house of a man named Ogundele.

However, the people of Gbongan were very hostile toward this new religion. Mainly Muslims or worshippers of Egungun (the collective spirit of the ancestors, worshipped through masquerades), they considered it an assault against their traditional beliefs, and persecuted Abiala and the other Christian converts. Sacrifices were put at the place where they met, and on several occasions masqueraders beat the Christians. Christians and Muslims clashed when the latter were accused of disturbing the Christians' Sunday worship with noise. In 1910 this even led to litigation at the high court of justice in Ibadan. Another time the Christians protested when the Kanmoloolu masqueraders disturbed their Sunday worship with the beating of their drums. This led to a brawl in which Abiala's wife, Mrs. Merian Omirinde, was injured with a charm. The wound would not heal, even with medicine, and she died as a result.

Abiala was a man of prayer and faith, even treating those who had small pox with prayers. His activities led to the founding of St. Paul's Anglican Church, Gbongan, in Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State. Many of his children and grandchildren have taken up service as priests. His eldest daughter, Julianah Abiala, became an Iya Aladura (prophetess) and one of his grandchildren, the Venerable Babatunde Ebenezer Abiala, is an archdeacon in the Ijebu dioceses of the Anglican Communion in Nigeria (2008).

It really baffles me when I hear Nigerians use the word black to insult their fellow black people. It is sad how some Nigerians think the white skin is better than the black skin, so to them the lighter your skin colour is, the closer you are to the Whiteman, and that makes you better looking than a darker skin Black. What an inferiority complex? No wonder 70% of Nigerians bleach and even apply the dangerous chemical on their tiny children. Using the word black to insult their fellow Black people is an insult to the black race and they should be ashamed of themselves.

houstonia: I Love My GirlFriend So Damn Much, Cos She's A Good Girl, But I Think She is Tired Of Me

dear nairalanders, I'm a young handsome man, am 24 years of age and a student of Niger Delta University BY. In my 2nd semester 100 level I fell in love with this very very good charactered 200 level girl. We had fun together, and I even deflowered her myself.(Now in 200, she 300) She also loved me back but currently we both seem to be having quarrels about me feeling too insecure which I seriously doubt that I'm, and most importantly, she always loved to stay in the house with just bikinis when I first met her, which as an African man I could tolerate when its just the two of us.This days, she does it even in front of every other person(guy). And she now uses statements like "I blame myself for letting you into my life" "its me who agreed to date you" Please this issue is ruining my relationship. I need your advice please.
Guy, are u a man? Do not let her dump u, u should rather dump her and move on. You at least have made a mark in her life by tearing the nylon. let her go, she might not be the best for you. She now believes she is above your level. Dump her like shit. Water would always find its level anyway.
Business / Re: GtBank: Funds Transfer From Savings Accounts Suspended by ay0201(m): 5:37pm On Aug 01, 2012
Papasboy: CBN Introduced a Cashless Policy in April 2012 to encourage Cashless transaction and further strengthen E- Banking System in Lagos, Nigeria's Commercial Nerve Center.

GT Bank today 31st July 2012 has Suspended Funds Transfer From Savings Account, Which Means You can Only Transfer Funds From your Current Account to anyone including other GT Bank Customers. ( To generate COT at all cost )

What happens to GT Bank Customers Without CURRENT Account ?

Is it Legal That a bank has to force Customers to Open/Maintain a Current Account So they can compulsorily Charge COT on every transaction ?

Why were Customers Not given prior Notice of Embargo on Funds Transfers FROM Savings Account ?

Is GT Bank on the Brink of Collapse and is embarking on Aggressive Generation of Funds to Survive ? ( Remember Intercontinental bank 25,000 Naira Minimum Deposit )

Is there no CBN Regulation that Guides These Banks ?

You cannot Withdraw More than 500,000 Naira Cash, and you cannot CASHLESSLY transfer your own Money to pay for Goods or Services Rendered EXCEPT you Pay Bank COT and/or Cashless Policy Charges.

I just Hope We will get an "Apologetic Public Notice" that it was a "Technical Error" from the IT Guys angry angry

Na Wa !!! angry angry
I was at the bank today and made a transfer. well i hope it is not true in the long run sha

ujchief: Few days ago, someone started a thread on the achievments of Gej and Dedeike was kind enough to make a 'bogus' list of Gej's over-whelming landmark achievments withing his 1.5 yrs (or 2.5 yrs) of his administration.
He mentioned, among many other projects, the massive reconstruction of the Enugu/ph expressway, which i was fortunate to plight this morning. As i started my journey, i fastened my seat belt, got ready for a smothe ride, this is wat i saw...
i was on the same road this time last week and as i write this,am on the same road. May God help Nigeria! Yes, the so called construction is going on but at what pace? The word massive should be removed. The road in question is an eye sore, a Federal road for that matter. How wld those in the government know what the state of the road is when there is a chopper at thier beck and call. The construction would be completed one day.
