ThowLou: The high CRS scores have been scary and it’s not my prayer it skyrockets but I am just trying to prepare for any possibilities. I am evaluating with a Nigerian University that is yet to release results after 8 months of completing the program. Hopefully result is released before year end so I can begin transcript processing. I cannot afford the expensive tutoring hence the reason I am seeking other possible options of tutoring for French language with a crs score of 481 you don't need french unless you just want to learn for personal development |

captainhoo: Congrats on your TEF victory. Did you use any other materials for learning and preparation apart from those already shared on this thread ? If yes, please can you share with me. Thanks.
Was it only the French music that helped you in your listening , any other tips for the listening please? I used the materials shared on this thread and followed the Facebook group "comment se preparer pour TEF" where members posted exam questions recently done. For the listening, the listening sessions at IEF really helped. We consumed a lot of audios (class appropriate audios) in class. They formed an integral part of the teaching even long before the exams. I did a lot of listening on my own too. Bought a bluetooth speaker which became my companion while driving and doing house chores. I listened to anything french- news, podcasts, and my favourite TV5 programme (les maternelles d'Afrique anchored by Angela) Music is just one of them. |

By you saying A1, does it mean you could do basic like greetings ( salut à bientôt), order at a restaurant ( je voudrais un tasse de thé Avec un pain, une table pour Deux personnes s' il vous plaît), work ( he travail chaque jour), etc. I have learnt these and more using an app (Duolingo). no. I couldnt do any of these before the A1 class. |

Was it the period you used in learning to get that result. Before april, I knew bonjour, au revoir from my secondary school knowledge of french. That was all. I started from A1 in April. |

adebayoolatunji: please how were u able to comprehend with the speaking aspect. How long did it take you before u were able to achieve it and can u please recommend the materials u used for the speaking what worked for me as regard speaking: 1. I had a lot of practice sessions in class. The classes were small, usually 4 or 5 persons and we took turns to speak on different subjects contained in the study texts. The classes were very conversational. You can't hide. We also did audio-miming on several occasions. 2. I went on speaky app and was fortunate to get a wonderful Tunisian guy. He calls me for one hour each day. That gave me the opportunity to practice outside the classroom too. I have never experienced such magnitude of dedication from someone I have never met. In exchange I'm teaching him English now. 3. Before meeting the Tunisian guy, every saturday I had one hour conversation classes with one guy. I used to pay him per session. That lasted for 6weeks. It wasn't intensive enough. 4. While preparing for the exams, my teacher simulated different TEF EO situations, condemned my responses on several occasions. He pressed on till I was able to speak with some level of spontaneity. That's important. 5. I joined the duolingo Lagos french club. I attended the monthly meetings. In short, I was in for anything french outside of the classroom. If it was a french event and I was aware, I must attend. 6. Songs also. My teacher encourages this and gives us french songs from time to time. |

Investment › Re: Home Ownership Is Mostly A Bad Investment- Expert Says by ayandee: 7:07am On Nov 15, 2019 |
I disagree. My father died when we were young. I was 9. The first born was 16. Two years after his death, we could no longer afford rent. So landlord asked us to leave.
In his lifetime, he bought 3 plots of land in a remote area of Lagos and fenced the plots. He was building a small 4bedroom bungalow on a section of the land when death came calling. He had roofed it but it was not plastered. It had no ceiling.
My cousin who lived with us then (God has blessed him too today) did not even look at the quit notice twice. He went there the following day, cleared the thick bush singlehandly for 3 days and even brought plenty bush meat for us. He encouraged my mum. We sold part of the land to complete the building and put a gate.
That property covered our unclothedness, our hunger. No one knew how we survived. My mum planted vegetables, maize, cocoyam, pepper, tomatoes, raised chickens. We were never hungry. There was always something to eat. It was a place of refuge for us. Several years later, a telecoms company leased part of it for its base station.
As a man if you are reading this, please try to get a property no matter how small. In Nigeria, it is a safety net. Dont leave your family stranded. |

Enculer2: So I did a simulation this morning just to see how screwed (or not) my TEF results are.
1st Official Language: IELTS (not yet written but will put in the right and hope that I don't get screwed over):
Speaking - 7.5 Listening - 8 Reading - 7 Writing - 7
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2nd Official Language: TEF (confirmed results) Speaking - 336 Listening - 334 Reading - 290 Writing - 384
Projected spouse results (not yet written)
Speaking - 7 Listening - 7.5 Reading - 7 Writing - 6.5
Total of 472 with IELTS as primary language and much lower with TEF as primary language (no thanks to the bastards at my exam centre)
Age close to 40 so not gonna be easy.
Preparations for IELTS begins now so I might go under for a while very soon. Aim higher for ielts. You can get more than what you projected. Just prepare well. I did the same |

Enculer2: Cheers.
What does it mean to "max IELTS"?
Score maximum points in all sections? Listening 8+,writing 7.5+,reading 8+, speaking 8. It's achievable |

Enculer2: Cheers man.
I have not done the scores. I hope the B2 has not screwed me. felicitations. Very good result. Not at all. You will have the extra 42marks if you can max ielts |
Travel › Re: All TEF Candidates For Canada Immigration, Let's Meet Here! by ayandee: 6:11pm On Nov 06, 2019 |
Enculer2: I have just seen my results and I am supremely confident that it is a racket (so is IELTS by the way).
Admittedly, I was expecting a high C1 in the comprehension orale as I felt I screwed up one of the long passages but no way was I B2. I had C1 in the speaking section in 2017, when I wrote TEF just to gauge my level. I have progressed since then.
So I had a low score in the section that is definitely my strongest point - funny! Very subjective the whole marking and I understand that there are no remarks for TEF.
I will work hard in my IELTS now. I plan to register for December or January at the latest. My madam should follow soon afterwards.
I wish those who are writing the best. Your examiners (plus the rigged system) will definitely influence the scores you get in the speaking section. I wish you the very best.
As for the other sections, I believe that you can get even better scores if you are focused. welldone. I can understand how you feel after putting in so much. What were your scores in writing and reading? |

Kennyyo: TEF passe à Lomé samedi le 26 octobre, 2019.
CO: Benin, aide scolaire CE: biere verte, patheons Haiti, un nouveau logiciel, les chauffeurs, and others. EO: A. Call Train company to get information on their packages B: Convince a friend to become a product tester. EE. A. A 96yr old woman unfortunately had to sell her house. B. Travels and holidays are worth more than certificates
Overall it was a nice experience. Had to drop the idea of TCF because the changed their dates.
For those who are already in B1/B2, just get on that Facebook page and get the link to those 85 past questions. I doubt there was any questions from both the CO and CE that I hadn't seen before. Although I didn't revise like 2 of the long texts and one of the long recordings for CO, but I had treated virtually every single question.
For the EO, practice speaking. It's not as difficult. The examiners were helpful with giving me confidence. Just keep practicing and don't stress too much.
I was thrown off balance by the EE. I struggled a bit. It's the only place I have a bit of fear. Though I try to ensure my grammar was correct but I didn't flow well.
Hopefully I can come back and share good news I'm another 4-6weeks.
Best of luck to us all. congrats in advance |

dexla: Pls I need your opinion people, I'm considering starting at alliance francaise for 6 weeks intensive french class starting from A1 level but I recently came across a post about french diploma at Unilag for 9 months but classes only takes place on Saturdays. I would like to know if anyone has gone through the diploma path? I'm aware people are taking this route for additional education qualification but in terms of TEF exam I had like to know the proficiency level if it's up to at least B1. I would appreciate a quick response as I have less than 3days to apply for the program. 6weeks of intensive french classes would never be enough if your goal is to write TEF. For the unilag diploma, if your aim is just to have the unilag diploma certificate to boost your crs points, then go ahead with it. For the purpose of TEF exam, you need at least 7 months of intensive classes (everyday classes) and lots of personal efforts to stand a chance if you have no previous knowledge of french. |
