SportsMeet Apollo Crews. The Future WWE Champion Who Is NIGERIAN by AyeeIdris(op):
So I am a huge WWE mark since I was a child and I still follow it religiously. For a few weeks, there has been a lot of buzz about a new wrestler in NXT...WWE developmental.. Name- Apollo Crews. I was quite indifferent because WWE is not really known for pushing pure black guys to the top (Booker T was never RAW champion and the New day are self made. The rock is Samoan....just countering all arguments before it begins). Anyways, he just arrived and has become the Number one contender for the NXT champion. That made me take notice. Like ....ok...Maybe WWE has plans for the guy other than just mid card level things. So I googled the guy and I was pleased to discover the guy is a Naija boy....or as Wikipedia put it "Of Nigerian descent"

Apollo Crews's real name is Sesugh Uhaa (which side be this abeg). He is apparently a huge indy star having wrestled in smaller outfits like Dragon Gate USA promotion, which also led to him making his first trip to Japan to work for Dragon Gate. Born in Sacramento, California, Uhaa was raised in Atlanta, Georgia and early on fell in love with professional wrestling, becoming a fan of performers such as Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and especially Kurt Angle. He went to a military high school and began practicing various sports, including soccer, football and track and field, as both an outlet and a way to "get away from the military life".While weight training in high school, he was given the nickname "Uhaa Nation", when his coach noted that he was "as strong as a single nation".

Although, he didn't win his first title match due to outside interference, he was made to look strong. That he is being pushed so soon after weeks of promos of his arrival shows that Triple H has big plans for him . I just hope it transcends to the main stage and he is pushed to the top. I mean he is a high flyer AND a power house. That's amazing.

In random news.... "Sorry about your damn Luck' James Storm, Beer Money himself is now in NXT. Whoooohoooooo #yeahiwatchtnasometimestoo

I really feel for you @barcanista. When he was an APC guy, He wrote an article that people called Anti APC and blacklisted him. He ported to Pop. Now he writes another articles that people consider anti-igbo and the insults flow. I am amazed. Is someone expected to have a one track mind and way of reasoning? Why is he not allowed to have dissenting opinions on matters without being termed a "betrayer". It is really unfair to put anyone in a box, insult someone whose view you have been applauding when it favour yours then get vicious when it does not support yours.

But honestly. Is any of this even important or relevant? This is the least of our problems na

i am happy that you know that nigeria as a country is a flawed nation and yet you still wants us to continued with the flawed nation? Whyhuh.germany, italy, and holland for example re one linguistically a small nation, but see where they re today with little resources?look at ghana too, developing drastically,if you put germany and italy together,do you think they will still grow up to this stage they rehuh However,we the biafrans re fed up and really want to go since the cesspit called nigeria is not working including the systems. We have given all their leaders from north to southwest the chance to ruled this country as they want yet couldnt fix this accursed nation.why..? biafran leaving may be a blessings in disguised.believe me.

why re people interested if he(nnamdi kanu) is wealthy or not, the most important thing is that,we the biafrans re seeing the impacts of nnamdi kanu's agitation. Wether he is rich or not is not our concerns sist,we the biafrans re self employed individuals and we re not poor neither lazy. So forget about how money is coming in and out or how he built his expensive home in whatever places you saw the pix. Pls Leave that issue for another day.

why would you compared martins luther the king and mandela to that of independent people of biafra(ipob).they re different persons here, luther the king jnr/mandela re fighting for equality of black race while nnamdi kanu is fighting for independence of biafra. Some of you thought southafrica got her independent in 1990/3 but they got their independent in 1910/12 but the white southafricans were the one ruling and in charged of all administrative until mandela felt that what the white were doing to his people(blacks)was wrong thing.(read the apathaid system.)

Stop referring nnamdi kanu as ''gragra'' freedom fighter when we have not started taking arms to cause anarchy in nigeria.mind your words sir.nnamdi kanu is a freedom fighter and cannot become a dictator as you said, this is 21 century and things have change but leave that for another day. when we cross the bridge,we'll surely fix things right..
ma, re you one of those who believed biafra territory ends in southeast alone cos they igbos?ok if we go by the word igbo people alone, do you think we dont have igbo people in benue, edo, delta, rivers and akwa ibom too? Anyway eventhough some denied igbo doesnt mean all will denied us. We shall pass the referendum to those willing to join their brothers in the east.by the old map of biafra it

includes southsouth too.but no problems.
this is the negative side of your thought, but God is great,he will surely see us through. We re not given up,we re christians, and nothing we stop children of biafrans from surviving. We will never be resentful as you assumed it to be..amen.

who told you a lot of things have not being put in place in eastern enclave? Sometime you people talks from what you see from afar. But we re proud biafrans and we envied our terrain. It s Just that most of you people dont travels as my people does.if i asks you now, have you being to enugu or abiriba, your answers is No. So stop comparing us with sudan, we re intelligent people and we shall handled things intelligently. sudan fails doesnt mean biafra will fail.
God bless the republic of biafra
Ok, my soon to be former country man grin, I truly pray your desire for secession does not become something you would regret someday. It is one thing to love your tribe, but lets not be blind to its faults. The east has been ruled by Igbos for the past 55 years. Is it really any different from other parts of the country ruled by other tribes. Is it not likely that bad leadership is an encompassing problem suffered in all region, which is not likely to go away, simply because you have your own country? Think about it. Are Igbos truly united as one tribe or do they suffer internal conflicts like every other tribe?

Me, I don't want or need war. As an amateur war historian (Macabre, i know), no one wins in today's modern warfare. Nobody. I went to a predominately igbo school. i served in a core yoruba town. I did my Law School in the North. Every tribe brings something to the table. If we can keep aside all these pettiness, let go of the past, put our resources today.....what would America be, compared to us? Nigerians are amazingly talented people. We should be great. I expect my generation to be better and fix things. Secession won't serve anyone and i pray we don't learn that too late

Yeah, that you never heard of him does not diminish his stature or import of his struggle one bit. I would advise you to take out sometime to listen to radio biafra if not for anything but to know if what they say is true.

Yes, Nnamdi at the beginning was rude and insulting and that put many of us off, but we addressed that issue. We told him it was not the way to go, and he immediately re-adjusted.

That he has called on youths to arm themselves in preparation is the proper thing to do when the police, army and navy can simply shoot you dead for simply gathering without even a demonstration or rioting.
I give you an instance, my friend came home shaken earlier this year after a confrontation with a hausa mopol who asked for his drivers license and he told the officer he was given only a paper by FRSC as his license was being processed, the mopol then demanded for money before letting him go. My friend got angry and told him it was against the law for him to reject the FRSC issued paper, and, the mopol "Provoked".
He cocked his gun and told the man, "You are an Igboman right? I will shoot you dead right now and nothing will happen!" Finally, my friend had to part with N1,500 with abeg sir just to escape with his life. That is the manner of injustice biafrans are subjected to daily across this nation.
I also happened to witness the killing by a police officer of a commercial bus driver at wimpey junction earlier this year over picking of passengers and not paying him.

These are what Nnamdi is highlighting!
nnamdi is not rich. Forget that. The money he makes and uses are donated by people all over the world. You are also mistaken if you think he uses the money for frivolous means. Ask about the welfare of the families and dependents of the IPOB members killed by the Nigerian Navy on 30th August 2015 and what Kanu and IPOB did for them.
Try and find out how much it costs to run a satellite transmission for 1 hr, shortwave for 1 hr, satellite TV for 1 hr etc then you will know how the money is being spent.

Radio stations should not be allowed to spread hate I agree so also shouldn't individuals. Talk to Junaid Mohammed and his cohorts. Talk to the late sarduana of sokoto. Talk to the current president of Nigeria (An attack against Boko haram is an attack against the north! - that is a peace building statement right?).

Martin Luther/Mandela never fought for freedom from their countries, they fought for equality! These are two different things.
Biafra existed before Lugard married us forcefully with Odua and Arewa. We are simply asking for us to return to our base configuration peacefully and you say no.

Nnamdi had to call for people to resist wanton killing and destruction after the Ezu river massacre. Read up on it. They were Biafrans and Massob members. What has and did the govt do about it? So you want us to sit back while they come to our homes take our people, shoot them and throw them into a river to be fish food so people like you will say we are peace loving people going about our struggle peacefully.

Now let me ask you this on a final note. Did you hear about the Ezu river massacre? Did you hear about the August 30th shooting of IPOB members on a peaceful evangelism by the navy?
As a lawyer, what have you done about it? Gani Fawehinmi was a lawyer who fought the govt to a standstill. Femi Falana was a lawyer who often stands up to the govt. Why haven't you done anything to challenge the extra-judicial murders being carried out by the security agencies against biafrans?

Answer that and you will know why Nnamdi is doing what he is doing and how he is doing it.
Hey. I get where you are coming from. Let me try my part to address the issues you raised.

Nigeria is a flawed nation. No one is disputing that. But there is no igbo agenda. The grievances you people suffer, the rest of us suffer too. No one is free from police harassment or intimidation. Sorry about your friend but a trigger happy igbo policeman can also do the same. A trigger happy hausa police will do same to a hausa man.Police of any tribe care only about the bribe you give them. they may lessen the amount if you speak their language, but that money they will collect.
Extra judicial killing is a collective Nigerian problem.

On the issue of Nnamdi Kanu's wealth, I don't know if what you say is true. Someone posted pictures of his house once and another picture in a very expensive Indian inspired white outfit. It didn't matter back then because I assume he works and is using his money, but if you say he is not wealthy, it could be that he is using the donations to fund a wealthy lifestyle. A kind of Ponzi scheme. I don't know how it takes to run a solo broadcast radio station. I cannot argue on that. I know nothing about the broadcasting world. I don't know if radio stations are charged a fee to air.....we know he's not paying to air... So I don't know if all donations, which really should be going to prepare the east for self governance, is going towards funding his station.

I did some research on the Ezu river massacre just now. While there was accusations and counter accusations, no one could really say what truly happened. From rituals, to communal clash, to police dumping criminals, to Massob claiming genocide......... The truth remains. We will probably never know what happened but it will be unfair to just go with the option that points to igbo genocide.

I gave a Mandela /Martin Luther King example, because they were referred, dignified in their resistance and are legends today. A gra gra "freedom fighter" is not what is needed. History has shown that once they (freedom fighters) gain power, they become dictators.

I pray you people get Biafra peacefully.. But that cannot be achieved when you include other regions that is not in the east. That's where, for me, the major grouse keeps revolving around... At least on Nairaland. I pray for a peaceful separation.

Please answer thiS. There are million of igbos all over the world. What do you think would happen if Nigeria is forcefully torn apart. A resentful Nigerian government will send every Igbo out of all regions (they are after all now illegal aliens). They may or may not diplomatically say if igbos want to leave in Nigeria, they need to acquire Biafran passports and then apply for immigration like any other African. Igbos leaving abroad would now be left with an invalid passport. Since it is now an e passport thing,a vindictive Nigerian government would cancel all igbos in diaspora' Nigerian passport leaving to mass exodus from all countries in the world. NO one would question Nigeria because as long as they are not killing igbos, no one can force them to be civil. The newly created country would be overwhelmed with million of displaced resentful igbos tromping in, leading to chaos.

So, a lot of things should be put in place first.Set up the East to be a place to be envied. There are brilliant igbo people developing the world and other parts of Nigeria, but neglecting their home. Sudan was granted a referendum and what happened, the new country is already having another civil war. History should never be ignored. It keeps us from repeating the same mistakes

papaejima1:
First off, I am not against you. However, I would like you to know that you are wrong.
Nnamdi Kanu was arrested. It was designed to be an under-the-radar operation with a blanket media blackout. It failed woefully because Nnamdi has a system in place and a sequence of communication protocols that the high command put in place for such eventualities as this. Once it was breached, the cat was let out of the bag.

Again, you err in assuming Nnamdi is not the big fish he is made out to be. This is where you display your total ignorance or lack of deep insight on the whole biafra issue. The Niger delta boys who you term "strongmen" were nothing but touts propped up by politicians and given guns to wreak mayhem. They were only interested in making money and grabbing whatever they could from Nigeria.
Nnamdi has a different approach.
First he began to harness the power of social media, he began to consult, he began to read up and study the histories of freedom fighters. He understood his target audience and how to reach out to them.
He struck pay dirt when the political scenario in the country was polarized and highly charged, and decided to exploit it to drive the wedge in. In came the radio transmitters and relay stations. People gravitated towards him. He began to point out and analyse the faults and actions of the government towards the citizens and mostly towards the Biafrans. Buhari helped him too via his indecisiveness and blunders in appointments and even coming out to deny a statement by radio biafra, and finally failing to jam his radio signals.

Nnamdi is a big fish except you dont know it. A man who could command a following in 88 countries of the world with people donating upwards of N1 million naira at a go to the cause, single handedly purchasing relay stations and funding shortwave transmissions globally is no small person.

Nnamdi simply re-ignited the passion for freedom in the minds of the people. Even if Biafra doesnt come in the next 5 years, the issue will continue to simmer and smoulder until one day it will come to a head.
You may be right. He may be a big fish. Outside Nairaland, i barely heard of the guy but the whole arrest thing has made him relevant. Maybe i am misjudging the guy's relevance. I don't know. The question i want to ask you, is his message the right type? Is his message the way a bloodless revolution can be achieved. I never listened to his broadcast but I have read on Nairaland that he has called on Igbo youths to arm themselves in preparation. That he has called on them to attack police stations and that he insults, not only other tribes but igbos that do not agree with him. I don't know if all of these are true or misunderstood . You can clarify that. My problem is that he doesn't have the qualities that makes a sympathetic freedom fighter. One, he is wealthy (you may say..and so?....but it kinda matters), he is not in Nigeria and he is not known for championing charity cases or using his money to develop the eastern region (if he has, please correct me)

You cannot fault Nigeria for jamming the signals. It is one thing to push for independence. It is another thing to continuously denounce a country and call for a break up in the harshest of terms. No sovereign nation in the world will be ok with that. Radio stations should never be allowed to spread hate. Read on the Rwandan Genocide. It is illegal. it is wrong. It is not the way to go.

Maybe I am not getting the guy's appeal but the limited people (igbos) i have spoken to, are not for him. They are all for Biafra. (Heck, if Biafra is what Igbos truly truly want and it can be achieved without blood, I am for Biafra too), but I wish there was a Martin Luther King/ Mandela figure leading the movement........

i have no problem with some level of shade. I am a Nigerian. Yabbing has been a part of our culture since childhood and i find it amusing, as long as it is kept light. I don't want this to denigrate into yet another igbo/yoruba 12 round e boxing tournament. Trying to keep a tight lid on that.

I'll ask you this question madam lawyer

A. is vanguard not a credible news source? or is it because it's not coming from those mushroom yeroba news source

B. who and who convicted kanu for criminal offence and which court declared him a criminal?

C. have dss came out publicly to debunk your said fabricated story abi dss no dey watch tv and social media again?

madam lawyer these three questions if you can't answer it then it's obvious you're not qualify to be a lawyer or I'll put it to you that you are parading an oluwole certificate.
Ok. Smart Alec. First of all, The VANGUARD newspaper didn't carry his story. It was online. You and i know how online stories are fabricated everyday...case and point...Sahara reporters. Many times on this forum, that same Vanguard ngr has been debunked for spreading falsehood. And news of this nature, EVERY paper would carry it, even the 'yoruba' newspapers. You may say they who skewer the information to favour whoever pays their paycheck but they will carry it.

2. I didn't say Kanu was a criminal. Your Vanguard paper, which you are alluding to, implied that he is. Or else why will they carry a report that he has been granted bail. You have to be charged on some kind of criminal offence to be granted bail. So if you say he is not facing criminal charges, then they will be no need to be granted bail.....and then that would mean Vanguard ngr is wrong which goes back to point one

3. I could put a bunch of links that shows DSS denying having him, but you would say the sources are not authentic and i could probably agree with you there. I take everything i read online with a 'bucket' of salt. These are some links

http://www.itomienews.com/latest-news/we-dont-have-him-dss-denies-arresting-radio-biafra-director-nnamdi-kanu/

http://happenings.com.ng/we-dont-have-him-in-our-custody-dss-denies-arresting-radio-biafras-directorthe-department-of-state-services-dss-has-said-it-is-not-aware-of-the-purported-arrest-of-one-nnamdi-kanu-the-director/

(I am not vouching for these links, as no major newspaper has carried it, but this is out there anyways)

But it begs the question. why would they lie? No disrespect but Nnamdi Kanu is not that big a fish in the Nigerian scene. I believe higher profile Niger Delta strong men have been arrested and the Government didnt hide it. Why him? Why no pictures?

Like I said, I am not trying to convince you that this doesn't feel right. Let your instincts guide you. Till date, i tell everyone that Chibok girls is the biggest Naija scam of 2014. I follow my guts. If this turns out that i am wrong and he was truly arrested and all, i will admit that i was wrong. It is not a big deal, seriously.

Stop with the oluwole certificate thing. It is disrespectful

I am not pro Biafra, anti Biafra or pro yoruba. Frankly, this whole e war needs to stop already. We have over 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria. The rest of us are sick of always reading about it. One cannot even avoid your threads because some smartass would bring the issue into threads that has no co-relation whatsoever. You all need to cease already.

That being said, I don't know Kanu personally. I never listened to his broadcasts. I don't really care but some things don't make sense. And as Judge Judy would say, if it does not make sense, it is not true. Now we hear that he was arrested at the airport or at a hotel......we don't even have a straight story as to where he was arrested....but all indications point to somewhere public. Yet no one, in this era of "social media-ness", no one, absolutely no one got a video or a photo. Really? No major news station covered it. Really? Till now, the government never released a statement that they arrested him. Only his side is saying so.
Lets assume there is a huge hush up about the arrest and all. I read this evening he was granted bail. Which Federal/State court was he charged to? The guy was arrested over the weekend and then charged to court on Monday and granted bail on the same day?? in Nigeria? which Court? I am a lawyer. Even at its fastest, our legal system does not work THAT fast especially in high profile criminal cases. And if he appeared in any court , we would have all heard about it. I hate it when people assume that Nigerians are mumus and you can just give us some story and we will fall for it, hook, line and sinker. Even in America, i am certain that no one charged on treason or terrorist charges would be given bail THAT quickly (I stand to be corrected with examples)

I don't know what the truth is. I really don't care, either way but this arrest does not make sense yet...and unless there are details that the public is not privy too, I am thinking that this is a huge scam or a game to get public attention and my people are eating it hook, line and sinker.....Hmmmm

Disclaimer, Keep it civil with me. This is my opinion. I am entitled to it. if you decide to cuss me out, i will not respond. If you turn this into a bashing thread, i will report every post. If i missed out any facts, please let me know

Yet 2 comments above, you called them slaves without provocation. If they react, no one will see the instigation. #saynototribalism

I love the wine carrying part. Different people calling the bride even old grandpa's. It's very cute

Great collection but the Nagin poster is not the version that was popular in Nigeria

To the Ghanians reading this, I apologize on behalf of my people. They can be crass at times. I apologize again

Do you think Nigeria is debt free? Show some respect. We claim to have culture. Culture demands you treat your neighbours with dignity at all times
CrimeRe: Photos From The Festac Bank Robbery Incidence, 14-month-old Baby & Mother Killed by AyeeIdris(f): 8:33pm On Oct 13, 2015
MEN! it was not a funny thing. I grew up at 4th Avenue...my folks were home. They had to crouch down fearing stray bullet. Our B.Q tenant said he was hiding under his bed. He then remembered his shoes were outside. So he crawled to the door doing some Rambo stealth mode movement to pick them (incase they decide to go house robbing next, they won't know he is at home)....... I was told the bullets traveled far beyond the banking areas......

The irritating thing is that the huge police station is less than 10 minutes away. Okadas will never agree to drive you past their route. It's only on their head that those mungo Park looking officers have power. Nonsense. They were called and informed the caller that they were aware of this crisis. The person said 'still on your wayhuh After 30 minutes of all these shootings...are you waiting for helicopter? (I don't know if this part is actually true. Na the gist my mama give me o)

I am sure its not your GHOST that is typing this.....

"Kicked you off" indeed.... how about a ONE YEAR BAN? shocked shocked

For you Muslims, any dissenting opinion tantamounts to "insult and disparage"!
Very very intolerant and aggressive folks!

Lastpage!
There is a huge difference between a dissenting opinion and outright insult... Example -I dont believe in Islam or its policies-opinion. Islam is evil and it's prophet is a pedophile - outright insult. I am sorry about your one year ban. It is too long but last I checked, 'i' didn't ban you. There are good and bad muslims. There are good and bad Christians. Let's learn to deal with people on an individual basis (we all hate it when people brand our tribe as either 'dirty', 'criminals' or 'ashawos'.....)
.you don't have to agree with Islam. No one is forcing anyone to, but just leave us alone

Sorry about your ban again. One year is harsh man

ECOTERRORS:
Last time I checked this is a xtian thread so I don't see any reason why a Jihadist should troll here.

Take your mohammed and his peadophilic behaviour out of here
You kick me off your Christian thread and yet complain about the restrictions in commenting on ours. Christians comment all the time on our thread but don't come there to insult and disparage our religion when we don't do the same to yours. Is that really so unreasonable? It's alright. No hard feelings. Peace.
