As Salam alaykum warahmatullah wa barakat. Thanks for sharing. At first, I agreed with the suggestion that it should be shared in the literature section but on second thoughts, it should be left here. People who visit the literature section can share it or mention their co- NLERS or followers. It will bring others to the Islamic thread and perchance one or two people might stumble upon guidance if Allah wills BTW, @OP. I hope a member of Ruqoyah's sect is not reading this and fuming about novels/storywriting being haram. You just never know |
As Salam alaykum warahmatullah wa barakat. So I received the message below in my email > My name is Gretchen Peters. I’m a Grammy-nominated songwriter and singer, a proud Nashvillian, and most importantly a mom. My son is transgender. And the “bathroom bill” that Tennessee lawmakers are trying to pass will harm my family. > > You may have heard of these “bathroom bills” - efforts by lawmakers to exploit fear and ignorance about transgender people to bully and harass vulnerable transgender students across the country. North Carolina recently passed the country’s first one. They say that all people must use restrooms that correspond with their gender assigned at birth and not the gender with which they live and identify. Last month, South Dakota’s governor just vetoed one of these anti-transgender bills, thanks to the tireless work of community activists in the state and around the country. > > We can do this in Tennessee. If we raise our voices together, we can make sure Tennessee’s lawmakers do the right thing and kill this bill before the session ends this month. > > My son is the bravest person I know. At age 3, the child I had been raising as a girl declared himself a boy. In my ignorance, I didn’t understand. In an unfriendly world, he internalized the message that he was “born wrong.” Eventually both his certainty about his identity and the agony of suppressing it for over 20 years were so great that he mustered up the courage to do something I couldn't imagine myself doing - he came out as transgender. > > I have empathy for parents who are fearful about issues related to gender. But I have greater empathy for the kids themselves. They face something more terrifying than most of us will ever have to face - often all alone. > > Make sure the many courageous transgender children of Tennessee don’t stand alone in this fight. Sign the petition to say that transgender students deserve our love and respect - not punishment for being who they are. > > As a parent, I am horrified by the vitriol swirling around this bill in my state. The opposition is actively threatening parents like me who support transgender children, accusing us of not caring about children’s welfare. The hypocrisy here is staggering - these people are the ones trying to make a law that explicitly targets students for discrimination. > > When we institutionalize this kind of discrimination, we force transgender kids deeper into the closet and shut them off from the support they so desperately need. We impart to them the message that they are “born wrong” - and that is the very last thing that parents should want for our children. > > Raise your voice to tell Tennessee’s lawmakers that if they care about our children’s welfare, they must oppose this terrible anti-transgender legislation this week. > > Thank you for all that you do, > > Gretchen Peters > > Sign Gretchen’s petition And I am/was itching to reply although I suspect it may not be read. For one, I don't know what is in the said bill. Secondly, I don't want a boy who strongly believes that he is a girl to share the restroom with my daughter or vice versa. The proponents of the bill may do better to not have a knee jerk reaction about this so that it does not go the way of the same sex marriage bill. And before you say "kufr nation" ( that's not the point of this post), I think Nigeria is more kufr than we let on! With the number of mosques in Nigeria, it should be a shining light in the world. I digress. The reason for the post is to remind us to be careful what we sign on change.org. On another side note, how can someone be in Nigeria and wear hijab then relocate to the US and take it off, just like that? May Allah safeguard us. I am seeing way too many I begin to wonder if people are genuine in their outward acts of faith but Allah sees our hearts best. |
What is this news source? It appears that every blogger is trying to cash in on this trend of presenting northern muslims and Islam as kidnappers with the goal of conversion to Islam? And marriage? The responses here are mostly filled with hate but I really wonder about the source of the story. Islam does not support kidnapping anyone and I doubt that Christianity does either. If a kidnapper is caught, ensure that he faces the penalty for the crime regardless of his tribe/religion/status. Until bloggers and newspapers start to get sued for false information, this ugly trend will not go on its own. I say the emir of zazzau or of wherever should pursue this legally unless the source can provide the so called islamic cleric who must in turn be prosecuted to the fullest since he admitted to the crime. |
Thank God! Even for diasporans, we wish our country well. This is good news for Nigeria. Excellent leadership. We must continue to work hard and pray for good outcomes for the whole nation. |
Pavore9:@ penmight! Finally |
ayommy12:@penmight. On a side note. Looks like the brand you got me. I still dey find the video, abeg no vex |
So sad! The government needs to stop taking pictures and secure the borders. My heart goes out to the peo Pl le of Borno state. May Allah forgive the souls of the muslims and may He grant all who lost their loved ones ease. There is no benefit to playing games here. These are people toi, dying for living in their villages. It is possible to put an end to this. Let this government not be drawn into the silly game of propaganda. This is a real problem |
What kind of shoddy reporting is this? No pictures or daily post is done recycling pictures? |
You are the correct one, brother. Ma salaam |
Ameen. Good advice for brothers and sisters alike. |
May Allah grant you success and crown your efforts with glory, Ameen |
Ponderworthy? Woman 1 "It’s egungun season, oh my dear friend, Let’s go quickly, quick and buy our own materials Red fabrics, blue green and yellow, We can get some dried grass on our way back Chaaiiiii,,eeewwwoooohhh, Blood of jesus, chai, God forbid that I join you In dressing for masquerade season" "Gini maka sister, It doesn’t mean a thing now We are just dressing up, We are not really masquerade worshipers" " Hian, I say I no do, Do you know the kind of evil spirits that dance with them? And you want us to just copy and follow them. After I have said I am not an idol worshiper" " But just the other day you bought costumes, For Halloween, And you dressed up, with the children and hubby, You attended the Halloween party" "Ha ha, that one is different now, It is an American celebration And the costumes are different , And it is cleaner too, and ….." " And… oyinbo people masquerade?Do you know the history of the date? Or the rituals involved? Do you know the significance of participating? Or do none of these matter" Or are you simply inferior? choosing the paganism of the white man over the black man's?" "Fi mi sile, u too sabi. After now you will tell me Xmas day used to be a pagan celebration and Santa Claus was a Germanic pagan midwinter god, Odin," But it is the intention that matters jare. You are becoming one of those fanatics joor" "Ok o! Your own fanaticism has inferiority attached to it. Because me too, when I dance behind Eyo and Ekpe, it is my intention that matters! Abi nor be so. Polished and renamed paganism versus crude and raw paganism, paganism naa ni" |
As Salam alaykum warahmatullah wa barakat. My description of Islam as a path is not a pun. It is a "way" which means you continue to strive. It is utterly disappointing that you would compare this to saying it's okay to drink alcohol when it is expressly forbidden by Allah. I believe every muslim/muslimah has the right to strive, and as you strive, it is expected that you will improve. I still strongly believe that I am in no position, neither are you actually, to toss anyone's actions in the dumpster. May Allah ease our affairs and keep us firm in His path. And make our efforts acceptable to Him, ameen. It is good to encourage one another with kindness and wisdom. Allah knows best. |
Islam is a path, not a destination. Not one of us here was born with a niqab or a full length beard. So I say if a sister is striving for Allah's pleasure and starts off with a scarf that does not cover her body, and her reason is solely for Allah's pleasure, we are not in a position to throw her actions into a trash can. That decision is for The One who sees the heart. Thanks |
A scarf over ones head may not necessarily translate to hijab. All the same, whomever strives to wear it for Allah's sake, it will be accepted based on the intention. May Allah make it easy. If the intention is however to look snazzy and cute, then the results are instant. The lady does look snazzy and cute. |
=Salam alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatu Alhamdullillah this is an excellent topic thanks for bringing it up. Obviously Muslims should not celebrate Christmas especially given the historical data supporting this date and thanks to Empiree for explaining about the approach to food. It is however unfortunate that some of our halal stores may not be slaughtering in a halal manner. It is safe to say we should be especially careful about what goes in our mouths |
As Salam alaykum warahmatullah wa barakat. I think as muslims, we should be kind to the needy. A needy person may not be poor, it is not in our place to try to figure out why a needy person needs just to determine who to give to and who not to give to. If the goal is to please Allah, give and move on. Even if it is just thanking Allah that you are not the one begging (in spite of having "a mansion, wives etc") If the muslim community reaches out to rehabilitate street beggars by doing Dawah to change the poverty of the mind, that would also be acceptable sadaqa and Allah knows best |
It is soo sad to listen to this interview. I think this comes from regarding a group of people as inferior and not being able to manage their own affairs. None of this would have happened had some Iraqis not gone to Bush/US to come and invade their own motherland, muslim Iraqis included. For the hunger/love of political power. The Chaldeans that I see here are majorly into liquor business but I have had conversations with them and they say "we did this to ourselves, You Nigerians be careful" |
lonelydora:The above statement speaks volume about the intelligence of the one who utters it. In the USA, gun violence is a daily source of sorrow to the families of the deceased and the incapacitated. Any act that results in destruction of human lives/property/ability is an act of terror. Including, the destruction of civilians in Syria by ISIS, by France, by Russia, by US, by Assad himself and whoever else is doing it. The killing of Palestinian children by Israeli soldiers, the killing of people by bokoharam, the shootings that have become commonplace in the US due to unfettered access to arms, the Rwanda genocide, need I list more. Please stop parroting nonsensical ideas. It takes courage and sense to stand out and speak the truth. Do yourself (-ves) a favor and rise above. There are more non muslim terrorists today than there are muslim terrorists. It is understandable that people have a knee jerk reaction to terror incidents when it is a muslim because a muslim should know better than to terrorize anyone. |
viviangist:So sorry for your loss. I pray God grants you strength. So sad. |
And is it true then, that when you are in the graves, you will be asked the following 1. Who is your Lord? 2. What is your deen? 3. Who is your Prophet? 4. HOW did you find Islam? 5. HOW did you leave Islam? (Your contributions) Is this true that everyone will be asked? It is True though that muslims are the ones responsible for the betterment of communities and the entire manlind, when and if they practice what Islam says. If you do not have something nice to say, say nothing. Can you imagine how more.peaceful the world would be if muslims follow this simple rule? @sino I think you have done well to provide good information about the companions of the Prophet ( pbuh ). Don't be angry and get drawn into what is not necessary. Like you rightly said, some groups will see it only one way and no other. However, there are basic rules for living as a muslim and harming a fellow muslim ' s reputation is not one of it, not to talk of the Prophet's companions. May Allah safeguard us, and count us among the rightly guided ones, ameen. |
This is really unfortunate. I was reading to learn but I see the goal. I don't think it is appropriate for a muslim to do this to the companions of the Prophet, pbuh. So sad! |
@ AlBaqir In essence, should we continue with choosing a sect to belong to?? I.e creating divisions amongst ourselves?? just like the people before us?? In direct contrast to AlQuran?? Just trying to understand as I do not know book o. Have we become wiser than the Most High and His Prophet (pbuh) who enjoined us to be steadfast with adherence to Allah's words over anything else? For I feel that no matter the differences in interpretation of the ayah, the main message is usually unanimous. Differences are arising from things that Allah out of His mercy has not spoken about. Per chance, the ummah may achieve more if our focus is on what we agree on and less on our differences. And does Imam translate to leader? |

This is an interesting topic. The conclusion of the study defined earning power and career success, but what is the true measure of success? When a family is able to effectively answer this question, the decision to be a SAHM over career mom will be made. @ Edited @mindfulness. Working moms and SAHMs are great when they care for their kids and show it. Sometimes, necessity drives ambition. But you cannot have it all. As a working mom, (depends again on your appointment-full time, part time, ) you may not be able to create some experiences for your children even with the best effort. Time is never regained, never. I am a full time and a half working mom. I have absolute respect for both working moms and SAHMs who care for their children and show it; Each family must define success and go for it! So if one agrees with the conclusions of the study and defines success as the above, one could very well choose that path, if possible. It is however incomplete without data on the down side of both options (SAHM vs WM). Hope it's not more confusing. English is my 2nd language |
Mattkent:And this is HOPE for the believers. I have seen more posts talking about the horror happening as having been predicted but not enough telling us that there will come a time when these people are rid off the earth's surface. Despondency and hopelessness are not signs of believers. May Allah safeguard us, ameen |
Rilwayne001:Come out?? The first thing since 9/11 when a "bomb" goes off is this------ for the average muslim "I hope it's not a muslim, I pray it's not a muslim" Then they start to describe and tell you who took "credit" for the disaster, and you cannot even breathe a sigh of relief. You are scared, and rightly so. Because there are similar psychos out there who may revenge attack you for being a muslim. Coming out ?? As in demonstration?? For those who demonstrated when the Prophet of Islam was insulted, tani ran won nise? For Allah's sake, a lot of muslims have lost their focus. Prophet of Islam (pbuh) was once in the minority, then he (pbuh) was in the majority. Was there a time he was not insulted? Please what was his response ?Speaking against the acts of DAESH is crucial but losing sight of the fact that they are mostly destructive to muslims is juvenile. The people complaining about muslims not speaking against ISIS are only interested in one thing. For you muslims to agree that the views of ISIS are truly representative of Islam, to admit that when you become "more religious", you will do exactly what ISIS does. And to say , Yayyyyy!! "you" denounce Islam and will now become whatever they want you to be. How exactly do you play that? Speak therefore against DAESH for Allah's pleasure for I doubt that any muslim, including brother from Singapore, would please any haters. |
As salam alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuhu I disagree with "There are no Buddhists, Jews, Pagans, Taoists, Houngans, Catholics, Wiccans, Hindus or even Scientologists in ISIS" While not trying to cast aspersions on his person, I would say it is really hard to say the above is true. The reason is that the end goal of ISIS is to make life unbearable for muslims. Truly, the muslims bear the brunt of these evil acts. Whether it is happening where the muslims are a majority OR a minority, muslims suffer where ISIS is. We should take responsibility for raising responsible muslims as should other faiths take responsibility for raising responsible citizens. There are sick people in this world who delight at blood shed. They found an outlet in ISIS. Also in the Israeli military killing Palestinians and the Myammar people massacring the Rohingya; and the Rwanda/Burundi people killing, rival tribesmen (for what again?), and the South Africans killing the foreigners in their midst; boko haram killings in Nigeria; American kid/youth murdering people/schoolkids enmasse....... need more?? Listen to the news I am a muslim, I am saddened by the horror in the world but I will not blame muslims/Islam for it. The tip of the iceberg is barely reaching out from under the surface. Every soul shall account for its thoughts, speech and deed. |
As Salam alaykum warahmatullah wa barakat. I was at work this evening and people started talking about "paris, did you hear about Paris?" My heart sank to hear that it was a terrorist attack. And I pray that Allah comforts those who lost their friend and families. Even as you think it is getting better, these type of events pop up again. There is absolutely no victory in this type of destructive cycle. I cannot even call this war. This is a group of bloodthirsty folks who have access to arms and are bent on destruction. May Allah safeguard our children, if these perpetrators are offspring of muslims, what a waste! These acts are not what the Prophet ( pbuh ) preached or practised. May Allah safeguard us, ameen |
I cannot find the story anywhere else other than Nigerian sources. Did the British Police connive with Amosun 's wife to keep the story secret from everyone else other than Ojo, the arrested blogger? Before we even consider that Mrs Amosun may be guilty, does anyone have a link to any non Nigerian news outlet talking about this "quizzing"? |
