You should seek quality education. You should also seek understanding and wisdom. The trio are lacking in your comment. I've never said anything against the poor boy. My remark about the lady was due to her health situation. I don't know Ekweremadu or anyone related to him and I didn't excuse what they allegedly did. I've seen people suffering the kind of thing she suffers and it will humble anyone. I guess her offence, to you, is being born into privilege. Purge yourself of low self esteem and hate. Don't lose your humanity because you think someone has a life you should have or even better.

I've had to be at the vanguard of raising funds for a lecturer on dialysis. We lost him. It was not easy for him or his family. He had to keep lecturing via audio calls even during dialysis session.

I never said justice shouldn't be done or that the family is innocent.

For calling me terrible, I have no doubt in my mind that wisdom is a luxury that you can't afford.

Dialysis is not a death sentence. The politicians have mismanaged our resources and I hope that you can connect this to scarcity of funds for dialysis leading to the lecturer’s death.

Until we become objective and understand that putting the wrong people on a job has far reaching consequences, majority will continue to suffer needlessly.

The judge is really very brutal oh how can someone in such a critical medical condition still be forced to stand trial? If am the girl I will just faint in one of the court sessions.

Being on dialysis 3 times a week is not a critical illness in the UK. There are people that do this and go to work. She is young so if she is getting her treatment in the clinic and she is not bedridden, she is medically fit to stand trial.

Now, if she wanted to abstain on the grounds of mental illness, depression does not cut it. Mania and schizophrenia could work.

Her request is not unusual from a rich person (race/tribe regardless). What would probably have worked for her is to show up at the court looking sick and the judge may excuse her. Zoom is also an option.

They may be trying to avoid her implicating them; Or worsening the case.

She is an adult so she has limited options to claim that she knew nothing about it.

Islam for Muslims / Re: Impermissible To Say Unlegislated Du'a (dhikr) After Prayer (salah) by ayinba1(f): 3:06am On Feb 04, 2023
Eniolohunda:

Jazakum lahu khairan op, for the teaching, and I will like to read about the unlegislated Dua, because to me as a Muslim, I believe all my needs is from Allah and I can ask anything of my needs using my language that is outside those regular daily duas. So I am interested in reading about the unlegislated duas, if you can help shed more light on it.

You don’t need the unlegislated dua if there’s an English word as such. The title of this useful post should have been “recommended duas after Salah “.

Extra stuff after this is what creates conflict in the ummah.

Impermissible is a strong word in Islam, I doubt that anyone completes salah and begins to curse, I would at least hope not. I would hope you ask Allah for what you want.

Allah knows best!

Bros, abeg leave all that psychological and emotional traumatized talk. How much should I start to budget.

Leaving in Nigeria is already traumatic.

A man told me a story of this type of crossing. While they were navigating through some mountainous region, a young man fell down and broke his leg. He began to limp, cry and slow the group down. It was his own brother (traveling as part of the group) who reportedly killed him. He was crying out in pain as he fell behind, and the noise was concerning to the mountain guide and the rest of the group due to the attention it might create.

The person who told me this story was deported of course after making it into an European country- can’t recall the name- he said there were very few blacks there.

I think the person telling you about the cost knows what he’s saying.

Comparison based on tangentiality. The CEO of Naija’s biggest company-Dangote makes $700k/yr… There are some Naija immigrants in the US/Canada who make this type of money.

And how did you arrive at this figure of what he makes annually? Dangote is counted among the world’s billionaires in USD- this annual income you quoted for him does not add up. and few Naija immigrants make 700k a year- please.

Your comparison is out of place.
Compare CMD of Ikoyi Hospital vs Dr Maduka CMD of Vegas Pain Clinic.
Too many Doctors as business owners and employees cant be compared with their Naija counterparts .
Apt comparison is US employee vs Naija employee in the same field and qualification.
If you compare Naija entrepreneurs vs US Naija entrepreneurs, in the US, younget funded easily if you have right product/service while in Naija, if you dont have connect and $$.. good luck.

But he was very clear to describe what two groups he compared. It was not apples to apples and he did it in context.

Monthly expense in Could be between 1,500 or more for a single person depending on the city.

And people can earn between 2k to 4k doing menial jobs. Being meticulous, you should be able to save 500 to 2k depending on your earnings and all. It all depends, some people may not be able to save anything.
Working professionally, you should be able to earn 5 to 10k in a mid level career or even more.
Some keep their expanses low to like 3k monthly while earning close to 10k, then can save between 2 to 7k monthly depending on lifestyle and city.
The larger your family, the less you can save but you are investing probably in your childrens education, mortgage etc which is still far better than Nigeria

All in all, it is far better off to hustle or work legitimately in the US than in Nigeria

Now that is funny!

Try “very few”
“Some” is too generous

My post was not meant to say which decision was better, I was only breaking down the scenario that was provided and that I quoted.
Travel / Re: Abroad Guys: Would You Relocate Back To Nigeria If Given $40k by ayinba1(f): 2:21am On Nov 18, 2022
PoliteActivist:

Ok, let's do the math:
Let's say $10 per hour, take-home pay. So that's $400 per week for 40 hours. 400×4=1600 per month.
1600×3=$4800 for 3 months (assuming you save every single penny!)

On the low end, remove 10% for taxes (assume include social security also)- $160
Phone $15 per month
Auto insurance or bus pass- $30
Electricity- $50
Water may be included in your rent- or not
Rent - $500
Toiletries- soap/toothpaste/laundry/dish soap/ sanitary pad - $20
Food - $0

Total low estimate monthly expenses = $775

This is based on an unrealistic low estimate, assuming that the individual is single, no car, no dependents, no state/city taxes and they spend $0 on food.

You can present a 2nd scenario where they work 2 jobs which would be 16hours out of a 24 hour day but saving all your salary is not practical in the US or in Nigeria. Someone has to pay your living expenses.

Thanks for the update. I also have a scheduled appointment for capturing at abeokuta centre this week and I have few questions:

-Can you list out the necessary documents for me pls so I can prepare fully before the day? I'm a DIY applicant.

-As for guarantors form, can a family of 3 do guarantors for each other? Father, mother and a son.

-Is there a way one can FastTrack the production and collection process at abẹ́òkúta centre? Perhaps you got a contact by an officer or something like that.

-Son NIN is new, do I need to validate before he can use?

Thanks

Mine was a renewal. So I did not need a guarantor. if you applied for NIN for a baby, it should be OK and not need validation but you can check if you are not sure. We took a list of the following documents to the center before the date of capturing.

1. Application form
2. Payment receipt
3. Appointment slip
4 . Expired Nigerian passport
5. NIN
6. Parent’s consent (for minors)
7. Birth certificate
8. Passport photographs.
The list might be a little different for a new passport application. This was a renewal.

No, I do not know anybody there. If you want to pay somebody money, that is up to you. I don’t think it makes a big difference other than encouraging bribery.

Update - DIY Abeokuta

We arrived for our appointment on the capturing day a little after 7 AM. We were given a number close to 200. We were finally attended to close to 9 PM.
We visited prior to the appointment day to make sure our documents were in order. I am not sure why There was so much delay but people who got there earlier may be before 6 AM likely had earlier numbers. The whole system just needs to improve.
Good luck to everyone, total amount spent was 26,500 naira paid online.
“They didn’t ask for bribe and were actually really polite. They ought to have closed since 4pm but they ensured everyone captured
Even those that paid to get theirs done had to wait till around 8-9 to get captured”

What you described sounds like an abusive situation. It’s unhealthy for you and your children. And your wife. I am unable to locate your original post So I am unable to quote it.
Please find a social worker and have a discussion with them on the way forward. At the minimum, they will document it.
This will serve as a witness for you if anything were to happen. Because if you say she’s yelling at you all the time, things could escalate at any time. And even if she’s a woman, she has no right to do (be emotionally abusive to her husband) that even in the UK.

I have been handling this over the last 11 years, not like am being complacent, but God will handle the rest for me.

It sounds like things are turning around for you both. The reality is that it is tough and challenging. If you were verbally or physically abusive to her, please do not attempt that when you get to the UK. At the same time it does not mean that she should be abusive to you. Even though women are listened to, you are a human being as well and she has no right to abuse you. Try to understand the community/society and adjust your behavior. I wish you well, there is a lot of good that you both can still do for your family.

simple, isn't it much better he's over there than over here? He should take his time, very soon if he pushes too much, she would use dat as excuse to quit d relationship and marry a Brit or a well to do Nigerian man there, and Op has lost many things
1. Japa to the UK
2. His beloved wife
3. Shared custody with children and if care is not taken when it gets to divorce half of his assets would be shared and he mandated to pay monthly Upkeep for his wife and children, which makes it hard for him to even talk of marrying again or starting up a business

Na so Brit and well to do Nigerian men full ground for after 3 woman in the UK? Have you met the single young Nigerian girls still searching? I am not even talking about the British ones.

This man senses that his marriage is heading a wrong way and I will give him kudos for trying to reign it back on course. But that is all he can do, try….

A lot of good advice have been given. It sounds like he invested a lot to get his wife to the UK. It is important that he gets himself there, and establishes himself properly. It is tough to imagine that your wife is playing games but he should just control himself and not beat her or abuse her and continue to try his best.

It is sad especially as policemen lost their live lives protecting this individual. If this is his first released statement after the event, that’s really sad.
