joeyfire: Bros, some of the people of ore may have fled but at least we know that the traditional leadership received Banjo and there were (as far as I know) NO killings or atrocities of any kind. If biafra intended to occupy they would have committed evil while they were on ground.

As for biafran troops probably having to kill yoruba soldiers en route to lagos my answer is they would have had to kill NIGERIAN soldiers of yoruba ethnicity. No shaking for that one. The bone of contention for me is that biafran troops indeed entered NIGERIAN soil en route to the seat of power and conducted themselves in a manner that showed they were not after yoruba lives. The army of bigots on NL know its true. I challenge anyone to prove this
I need to know pls. Were they engaged by Nigerian Soldiers of Yoruba Ethnicity?

.....However, limiting the argument to that of my intelligent opponent, there are many single mothers out there who have raised great motivators for the society. Many out there have given credit to the back bone of the woman who raised them even in a family that includes a Father. Little wonder why a child , especially the males choose to endow their mothers over the father or little wonder why my most esteemed and of course perceived domineering male opponent of mine quoted his mother and not his father’s “wise“ sayings. Order out of Chaos has always been under the exclusive reserve of women in a home. An expression commonly used by males is ‘I want a woman who can keep a home’, in other words, bring order.
.
Ben Carson (The Gifted Hands) is a perfect example. Raised by single parent, his mother, Sonya Carson.
.
We do know about the good ones, but you and I know the ratio of good to bad ones from Single Parent (Mother or Father)!
We heard about Ben today cos of his success.
In the same vein, you can't say all Children from a disciplined, happy and respectful will be responsible. We have some that are raised by Single Parent (Father also), Some are doing good and some otherwise. Its not a case in its generality. A man must surely assert authority in his home still. Thats the role of a man in the Society!
......Man was created first and out of a need for a helper, woman was added to the equation to join in the responsibility handed over to humanity. If I were to subject myself to his reasoning, then women all over the world can never lead, or preside over meetings or have a higher status in companies over a less educated/ experienced male worker. But even the males of the society will batter my opponent if they see his logic. This slavery as a result of a ‘wise wife inability to counter her husband piece of advice’, forgetting that the perceptive/ intuitive spirit of a woman has afforded countless of men financial and social distress. Thus, the common expression, still by men, ‘I should have listened to my wife’. Suggestively then equal communication builds a stronger opinion, thus two heads is better than one. I refuse to subject this intelligent discuss to a frivolous banter as it relates to havoc, rudeness, indiscipline or a cooperative man as being perceived as weak. This angle employed by my opponent shows that not only are women perceived as subordinately inferior in a marriage but also incapable of making the right contributions unless they are mute to their man; and that a cooperative man is weak or (worse) Man - Ego = Woman
.
You are so on point here.
But I can bet you that the males of the society will not batter me seeing my logic buttressing our one voice over the cankerworm eating deeply into our root.
It it were a matter of slavery, the woman wouldn't be around when the decision is being made.
A wise and submissive wife wouldn't counter her husband. Thats rude and unacceptable. She can only plead, tease or obey!
.
Pls, check the meaning of slavery. Its never the same as submissiveness!
.
That we are right to assert authority hasn't made us inhuman. Of course we listen to them. We communicate of course. When no be sey na deaf and dumb I marry for house. We play, we tease each other, I buy her gifts, I surprise her on her birthdays (she does also), we cuddle each other, we have intimacy, we k.i.ss, we go on picnic, we go on honey moons, and I make sure Im always there with her during delivery. Can you now see that I listen to my wife. What I only do is drawing conclusion after marshalling out theories. Thats why I am a man (the head of the woman)
Yes, and still, Man - Ego = Woman!

''Nevertheless, in the Lord............''
Paul was not talking about gender equality here. During that era, and historically, women were submissive to the men.

I don't think the intelligent females will murmur after taking my time to spell out their roles in homes.

A wise wife must surely be able to tamper intelligence with reasoning, in order to deal with her husband via submissiveness to authority asserted by her lord.

Clarifying on the definition mentioned a man as stated in this context is a masculine gender, right however is a legal concept erroneously used by the populace as privilege or advantage. However its proper rendering would be justice, ethical correctness or harmony with the rule of law; the word assert is rightly stated as well as authority, but a relationship is not precluded to marriage but includes, courtship, friendship among other union between individuals.
.
Legal Concept, Mobile Phone, Right, Nuclear weapon, Gender Equality, Electricity, Internet, Missile, Governess et al are all nascent discoveries/inventions and terminologies.
.
That Internet is good doesn't make Nuclear Weapon one, and that Mobile phone is good doesn't make Gender Equality one?
.
Yes, relationship is not precluded to marriage but includes, courtship, friendship among other union between individuals. But here, we are laying more emphasis on marriage since Man is involved, and not Boy or Male or Bachelor or Fiance or Boyfriend.
.
Masculine gender or husband, a male is right to assert his authority in any relationship.
A Woman should know this, and learn to be submissive to her Man, a process to be taught right from when a girl to girlfriend, from girlfriend to lady, from lady to fiancee, from fiancee to bride, and from bride to wife (Woman). Its like a learning process. There are basic things to know at every stage, just like in 6-3-3-4!
.
.
From this definition, I can correctly state that a male gender is legally guided to impose a higher status or exuding himself as being better than a female gender in a marriage, courtship, friendship or union of any sort including political gathering, social or employment establishment .
......
.
The Legal system has done more wrongs than rights with ''Gender Equality''.
No wonder they can do whatever they like. ''He touches me, he will be in trouble''.
-They can decide not to cook.
-They can decide to dress as they like.
-They can decide to raise their voice over a man's.
-They can even insult a Man in the public.
.
You can even see a policewoman insulting, embarrassing and harassing a man in the public.
.
How many employment establishments are headed by a woman, besides some private establishments (where a man is still being employed as Manager to ensure and assert discipline). A man is known to be more capable in that office.
.
Is this the kind of Country we opted for? Democrazy indeed. A country where anything goes.
Is Military regime not even better?
.
Gender Equality? Maybe the Women should take over the Military, and go to war and peacekeeping, while the men stay at home. I often laugh at ''What a man can do, a woman can do better''. What a hopeless hope!
.
Stay at home, and carry out your chores. Why don't you kuku talk sey make we dey carry belle since na gender equality matter now!
.
.
......Some of you may think I’m taking this over the edge but I must state clearly that jurisprudentially, where there is a right, there is a correlative duty and as such, my opponent has clearly defined the duty and place of the woman gender all over the world to being subordinate, enslaved, diminished to their male counterpart, correction, their male commanders.
.
You are indeed taking it over the edge, and being sentimental about it. No wonder we gave in and accepted the gender equality proposal.
.
''my opponent has clearly defined the duty and place of the woman gender all over the world to being subordinate, enslaved, diminished to their male counterpart, correction, their male commanders.''
.
Where did you get that from? Surely not from me, but you are not far from the truth. I will go with ''subordinate''.
.
.
.
....In order to avoid confusion it’s pertinent to establish a fair ground that this discussion is not restricted to marriage but entwines in various strata of life. For instance would it be correct that a man must exercise this perceived right (as perceived by my opponent) even in politics and as such England should have no Queen, instead a distant male cousin should have ascended the throne; or that Liberia should have insisted that a female cannot rule over the dominant male; or a husband should insist his wife remains unemployed as he can superiorly cater for his subordinate family. This is what various enactments which came to portray gender equality achieved in rebutting.......
.
While reading that, I thought you were going to say, ''.....and why cant the woman rule over the man''. That would have been an insult on manhood. Im sure u wouldn't wanna hold yourself at ransom.
Talking about the figures,
What concerns Queen Elizabeth with Soldiers deployed to Iran?
What is the state of Liberia since Ellen Johnson Sirleaf becomes her 24th President. Lets not discuss her here.
.
I thought you would mention people like Dora Akunyili and Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
.
If a man insists that his woman remains unemployed. Is he not being man a enough.
The woman should simply obey and keep to housekeeping. She shouldn't be scared of marasmus.
There is nothing rebutting about the standard!
.......Taking a journey down history, women have been treated as the inferior and less important sex, and within their relationships taken as slaves rather than companions. But following the international women conference of the 1800’s an act was enacted for the equality of the sexes and today the world and especially the family is reaping the benefits. Within Nigeria, women have always played a significant role in their families as custodians and builders. They have worked alongside their men; earned wages and these wages accepted as a contribution to their relationships, have nurtured and cared for their men bringing to mind a popular saying that “behind a successful man is a woman”, this goes to emphasize the importance of a woman in a relationship.

.......
.
This is a Man's world, we set the rules as we want it. We allowed the gender equality campaign. There was nothing you would have done if we didnt accept. We were only being considerate and courteous by giving you a sense of belonging since we were tired of your murmurring and complaints!
.
It all boiled down to the Civilization Im so much in love with. Civilization coupled with our excess allowance was the root of women not wanting to be submissive. How dare you in the days of when stones were being used as matchsticks!
.
Who would she charge for battery.....where was the court!
.
Point of correction, a man's success or failure is not a business of any woman. I have seen women wrecking men.
Being able to tame a woman like tongue is the beginning of success, and vice versa!
.
The world was meticulosuly organised until we gave the women the inch that has now turned to miles!
.
.
.......Taking a drift to religion, my opponents may argue that they have divine authority to assert superiority and authority but I beg to differ. Let us take a look at creation and the divine mandate.
Genesis 1:28
“And God blessed them (male and female). And God said to them, ‘…subdue the earth and have dominion over everything that moves’. “

Genesis 2:24
“…and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”

Can anyone be kind enough to point out where any of these scriptures specifically says a man is to have superiority (dominion) and authority (subdue) over his partner? It does not in anywhere state that but instead encourages unity and equality (becoming one flesh) in a relationship.

Every man seeks a companion out of an innate need for a helper and a friend. Do you go about treating a friend like a slave or do you treat her like an equal knowing she is adding value to you? Any man seeking to express his natural desire to possess and subdue will be better off acquiring a pet.

.......
.
God created the man, a helper. Where helper means making it easier for someone to do something/to be a benefit of/support someone in order to achieve an aim. And a distinct xteristics of a Helper is submission (The helper must allow the authority of her Lord to rule)
.
Ephesians 5:23 says '' For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head of th church, his body, of which he is the Saviour''
.
Church was termed as the temple. And my body is the temple.
So, if I refused the lordship of Christ over my body, then Im proned to danger (Devil will surely be the lord then). In the same vein, any woman that refuses the lordship of her husband over her should be ready for the worst....SIMPLE!
.
Pls, don't get it wrong, it is not master to slave relationship, but a mutual relationship!
.
Man's greatest pet is woman....which pet were u referring to? Dogs? Dogs are even more submissive. How I wish every woman can have that distinct trait of a dog. Very loyal and man's best friend!
.
.......I hope in subsequent rounds to fully convince you without a trace of doubt that a man is not right either by reason, law or divinity to assert his superiority and authority in a relationship.
......and a feeling of exaggerated importance in a relationship having the power to enforce obedience by way of influence and physical strength. This I stand to disagree with......
.
Of course, I also did stand to disagree.
A RESPONSIBLE man has no feeling of exaggerated importance in a relationship, because the Man and the Woman are of importance in a relationship. Though the man's role is of more importance, but the relationship becomes an unhealthy one the moment he starts feeling so!
.
Yes, the man has the power to assert authority. If he doesn't, then who is gonna? The Woman, a weaker virtue that is liable to break down under pressure?
.
My dear, nobody remembers to call on the Woman when the chips are down. Na the man go answer questions and deal with the problems!
.
..... It is of importance to note that for an action to be termed as ‘right’ it must have evidence of fact and moral justification.
.
That a woman should be submissive to the authority of her man is a fact and has been morally justified.
.
Which of these correct;
1. Wife obey your husband.
2. Husband obey you wife.
The former one of course. The man is meant to listen to the woman complains and ideas, but draws the final decision/conclusion after marshalling out theories!
.
......A relationship is a connection between two people. For a relationship to exist there has to be an understanding between both party each having their individual responsibility, with both working together to sustain it......
.
Yes, you are correct!
.
...... For a man to totally assume that his role is of more importance than his partner’s is completely unacceptable. Most people will agree that without a willing cooperation on both sides a relationship is bound to fail. In the marital strata women have been known to contribute their fair share of time and energy in their relationships.
.
Not acceptable? Whats not acceptable there?
.
As I stated earlier, the Man's and the Woman's roles are of importance for a successful relationship.
.
The Woman takes care of the home, the kids, the cooking et al, while the man makes sure the family lacks not.
The Man/Woman not doing his/her part is a breach.
The Woman can't take care of the home, the kids, neither will she be able to cook if the Man is not living up to the MORE IMPORTANT ROLE by financially and materially providing!
So, can you now tell me. Whose role is of more importance, but sex?
.
......In intimate relationships that exists outside marriage it is completely difficult to find a man who is willing to have a girlfriend he’s spending money on without expecting some benefits in return.....
.
How won't I be expecting some benefits in return from a girl Im into intimate relationship with, and while spending my hard earned money on her.
