LOOOL. Sounds like a joke. GPT may be able to write a fantasy novel soon, but there will always be far more interesting human authors using it as an assistant. GPT is just a tool, how do you translate emotion into code, giving love and hate weights? Imagine you need to write a 300-page novel, even after feeding the AI the prompts, it will never be perfect. You also know that the end target of the novel is a human ( at least for now ), so the structure of the book has to make sense, not just ramblings of predictive text. Same for code, I don't know anything about Elixir and Phoenix, but yet I needed to desperately create a route on an existing project and return a response. I did not have the time to open Manning and finish a textbook for something due in 2 hours. So I asked GPT, and as you can see from the screenshots, it was a good tool to use, although not perfect. In my opinion, it is the same way people fear technology, they start to think of how it makes their field extinct. If you think computers have taken away the job of accountants, or AI will suddenly be able to prepare your books for the tax man or write legal documents for you, I sincerely wish you well. dreamxhaser:

I disagree. Has anyone come to meet you to discuss anything like Interim Govt? Or try to induce any commitment from you to overthrow the Govt? Kobonaire4: |
Yeah. On Paxful you need to buy USDT and then Sell USDT for NGN. You can choose to sell your USDT on Paxful (The rates on Binance are much better, last time I checked. Geegpay has saved me from crypto watching. ) However if you wish to transfer out, Paxful charges about 5-6$ for outgoing transfers. RoyalPriesthuud:

No idea, you are putting yourself out there potentially. These are also very uncertain times and the competition is very high for the few roles, not to mention that there are very numerous candidates that are probably far more knowledgeable and experienced than you currently are. You cannot even preemptively state what will make the client attracted to you, you are simply fishing in the dark, throwing yourself out there and hoping something bites. All you need is one lucky break, and you'll need to seize this and deliver in a timely fashion to get that first great review. The amount of confidence that will infuse into you, I doubt that you can imagine. I understand the Connects are expensive, hence my statement that you should consider the freelance plus subscription. 11,250 ish monthly or thereabouts. nurez305: |
Bros, me no be Sir o. 1. Go to https://www.upwork.com/hire/us/ and check out the web dev section. 2. Look for someone successful, check out their portfolio and page, and what they claim they know. 3. Update your own profile and portfolio, and start to learn more stacks. 4. Price aggressively. 5. Set availability using connects. 6. Check Upwork every day. 7. Get your profile completeness to 100% 8. Consider Freelance plus nurez305: |

Yes, I believe that the GT Dollar Card should work. How to receive payments? This depends on you and your risk appetite. The local bank method will allow you to add your Nigerian bank account, and get paid with it, the downside of this is that they use the official CBN rate. $100 will be about NGN 44000 ish. Upwork does not allow you to use a DOM account to receive money directly. Payoneer will allow you to send USD to a Nigerian Dom account, this however comes with its own charges. Upwork to Payoneer will cost a $2 fee. The minimum amount you can withdraw from Payoneer is $50 (Please take note of this, so you don't get stung). In addition, there is a withdrawal fee, for transactions less than $500, there is a minimum charge of $10 above $500, and the charge is 2%. So if you get $52(minus the service charge) on Upwork and you send it to Payoneer, then withdraw it to your DOM account, you will get $40. You can however send it to a US bank account through ACH. There are several companies that provide you with this feature (GeegPay, Wise, Payday) You may need to fulfil some sort of KYC and some other criteria to get access to the account, but this is generally considered as the "sweetest" way to withdraw your earnings. I wish you all the best. NB. I have not tried Paypal, so I can't help describe how that process works. NoonMasamune: |
It has moved to pending right? So if you click on pending, you can see the date it will become available to you. Samuell2019: |
Oh, then it will be available after 5 days. After the standard security hold Samuell2019: |
This is to receive money, not to buy connects. Are you sure you are on the right page? NoonMasamune: |
The money is only available to you after completing the milestone. The client will have to release the money to you. Samuell2019: |
Why don't you fill the form? Samuell2019: |
Did you check here to see if you already have a TIN https://tinverification.jtb.gov.ng/Template/TINVerification From my own programming perspective, I think you already filling that you are not in the US is already making you exempt from the tax. There is no way to validate the number that you have added in Nigeria. I believe the number added only becomes important when Nigeria establishes her own laws about how freelancers should be taxed then Payoneer is then legally culpable for you having an invalid number. You can test the transaction with a small amount. Also, Tax should be removed before available for withdrawal not at the point of withdrawing itself. ( This is speculation on my part) RoyalPriesthuud: |
Yes, usually. However, It took about 30-40 mins yesterday. I searched on Twitter and it seems that someone else was in the same shoes. qtguru: |
I understand what you mean perfectly. However, you will have to choose your poison. For starters, Upwork does not function as a bank, and in their FAQ's they mention somewhere that after 6 months and you don't withdraw, they send you balance to your account. The fear is however violating one of their TOS and them seizing your funds. For that reason, you can choose another service to rely on (Wise, Payoneer, they have good repute, but you can also violate their TOS too) or you can simply save to your Nigerian DOM account. You will eventually have to choose one service and rely on, then hope and pray. Me, I don't trust the Nigerian banks, I have chosen Wise as my poison. Dudeladude: |
Paxful has escrow, I have traded several times and I have not had any issues with someone attempting to flee with funds. Disclaimer: I was also worried about fraud and maybe being banned from Payoneer for crypto activities, is the major reason why I switched from Payoneer to Wise. Donpre:Why do you want physical dollars? Except if you have a fetish about holding raw USD, I advise you for your sanity to discard the idea. As Donpre said accessing USD in the banks is a nightmare. If you wish to make payments, use a Payoneer USD card, if you wish to send to your Nigerian Dom account, you can use both Wise and Payoneer. However Wise takes it an extra step further, you can send a wire transfer to any Nigerian DOM account. That cash fantasy na bad dream abeg! Dudeladude: |
I used to do this too. However, I switched to Wise instead. Upwork to Wise, Wise to Paxful works too (I use this when I need money fast). Wise to GeegPay (takes about 4-8 hours during the weekdays) Wise charges you 0.39 USD to transfer to another US account via ACH from your balance. GeegPay takes O.9% with a minimum of $1.5. beautycrush24: |
To be honest, I have had long-term relationships with some clients since 2021 when I joined the platform. When work is slow on their end or no new features, I turn on my availability and apply to about 2 - 3 gigs ( Note, I mostly never get picked or interviewed for these gigs). Primarily, my reason for applying is tied to my belief that merely turning on availability is not enough to get you invites. Then all I need to do is wait patiently, it might take a few days, but almost certainly, I get several invites and I chose the ones that match my short-term goals. Of course, there will be several other applicants, but several other factors play into getting the gig. Rapport with clients like djreloaded mentioned pricing and most important, skill and timely delivery history. However, it is life, some just ghost you, and others, you simply will not get it because of some weird basis. The playing field is no longer level, this use of connects to boost proposals is thievery in my own opinion. Olawrites: |
Yes, so it makes long-term engagements profitable, eventually. qtguru: |
Yeah, I think this depends on perspective. Not everyone has been able to get remote roles without Upwork, and some of us are lucky that we don't buy connects. If you think about it, 20% is only on the first 500$, 10% thereafter to the next 10,000$. It seems better than a fixed pay in Nigeria that inflation of about 21% fuc*s you over. Olawrites: |
Will it ask for the security question before he is able to change the details? If so, you should provide it as part of the sale. Did he do anything that made your original sale agreement void? You should state your grievances. I am not sure that you both should continue this back and forth, we have no idea what you both cooked in private. Dudeladude, are you really demanding another account from him? What exactly do you want and need from DesertScavenger? DesertScavenger: |
Upwork to Paypal? Is this more attractive than GeegPay? Minus being instant. Srredkita: |
Typically, when I withdraw on Upwork to GeegPay on Friday, it usually drops very early in the morning on Saturday, the next day. I have not withdrawn on a Saturday so I cannot say for certain what the timeline should be. I think Upwork guidelines say something about a transaction taking up to 5 days in the worst case. You can always reach out to their support to get confirmation of the transfer. wasiubello: |
Payoneer takes a minimum of $10 for transactions below $500, for transactions above $500 the charges are 2%. MrEverest: |
Kai, super true talk. This is not a good situation to be in lol, trying to withdraw less than $50 from Payoneer. Like pocohantas said, to start with and for most of your use case, Geegpay is perfect. pocohantas: |
You need an ACH account to withdraw directly from Upwork. Grey does not provide an ACH account. GeegPay does. Wise does. RoyalPriesthuud: |

If they are all Naira cards I think that is where the issue lies. Try Chipper or Payday? skitkid2: |
