Sure it will. twosquare: |
I saw the rate as 650ish yesterday. Of course, I ignored it. The whole currency situation is now very unclear. Google rates are $1=823.00, p2p is $1=770, FMDQ I&E FX Closing rate $/₦770.17 So maybe google does not have sense? It still does not explain why Upwork's payout is about 100 naira short. twosquare: |
I am not sure he deserves this response. You have been spamming the thread with your offer. You could have easily ignored him, and continue to post the offer, it's a free world. Yes registration is free, yes they will approve it provided you submit the documents required and you will also get jobs on it. it is not mysterious or something only a genius can do. Chatflick: |
This is subjective. Most of us have different niches, depending on what you are selling, the story might be different. There is no harm in putting yourself on the platform first with a Nigerian account and seeing how it goes, however, you have to be aware of the victim mentality. It might be easy to conclude that the reason you are not getting jobs, is because you are not using a foreign account. Lamban2: |

I am not angry, on contrary I am having quite a pleasant week, thank you. You can do whatever you wish with what you own. "Sha don't be using it anyhow if you don't need it", seems like an absurd statement. Although you have mentioned that your phrasing was intentional, I don't know if you meant to jest. However, you doubled down on your statement that the mentality is to blame. Why are you gatekeeping the usage? You are not the service provider, if he decides to only stream his media and download just for fun or share his wifi password with his street, duh. If I pay a million naira for my internet, and I decide to share a screenshot to pepper people of how I am living large. Please, please, you aren't one to preach to me if I need to be that exorbitant, my ISP will notify me. Stanley08: |
I swear, the thing give me joy. CavendishPlex: |
Make person use almost half a meter to buy internet equipment. Make him still dey thread softly? Na wa o Stanley08: |
Even if there is a data throttle, why not simply pay for a higher tier if you use excess data. gogeekish: |
Thank you! Do you pay tax? How do freelancers handle taxation in nigeria, jackest1 do you have an idea? pocohantas: |
Thank you, now I understand. jackest1: |
Upwork removed NG VAT tax from my money. Trying to get the exact percentage.

Since GeegPay verification is slow for you, you can use Wise. Caveat, Upwork to Wise is slow. When I withdraw on Fridays to Wise, if I don't receive my money by Tuesday, I don't panic, I simply grumble. That said, Wise also does not send to Naira, it can send to your DOM account, but I have no idea how long that will take (never tried it). This leaves you with sending GBP to your Grey account. Noones is the successor for Paxful which was closed down. You can use it to p2p, by using Wise to buy USDT on the platform, then selling the USDT for NGN. Sounds complicated, but it can be done in about 20 mins. Ignore all those that say stuff like they buy Wise funds and others, you'll most likely fall victim to fraud before finding someone honest, especially when you can do it yourself. As for the rates, you can see it in the images attached $100 USD to USDT == 96.179093 USDT 96.179093 USDT == 71127.33 NGN Michellasilva:

Wise? You probably could do Wise -> Grey or Wise -> Noones Michellasilva: |
No you can't. Michellasilva: |
Frankly, I agree on some of the points. Personally, I don't mind paying 5 times the previous price as a result of a new Government policy. The reluctance and the pain comes from where we know these resources they claim are saved as a result of the hardship inflicted upon me, are mismanaged. The benefits, never reaching the bottom. I have nothing personally against Tinubu. I believe actions speak louder than words, I will wait and see what he does. As time does go on, I gain a deeper understanding of this our special nation Nigeria, the supposed Cabal, does truly exist, and their interests will be protected. In the short term, it will be impossible to secure the borders, Bubu's policy of no fuel sold 20km to the border. As long as there is profit to be made, there will be risk-taking entrepreneurs and willing saboteurs. Tinubu cannot remove the fuel subsidy, at least not in his first term. It will take a brave Govt with nothing to lose. ben1daEbiri: |
Actual value of the fuel is between 450 and 1000 chicoMX: |
Bubu, claimed the 5000 is for social intervention programs. They need to borrow money, we are not generating money. Sooner or later, we would face the decision of cuts. Supposedly increasing the salaries, with no income, CBN stooge is just printing and printing. Inflation will worsen year on year and if they continue down this path, all we would have is worthless paper. I don't even trust the banks anymore (minimal exposure to them, no Naira savings or USD DOM account), I am just living my life with the expectation that all will go to hell and mostly the rich will exploit the situation to their benefit. michlins: |
Fuel subsidy, inevitably is not sustainable. It has to be removed. Yes the ripple effects in the short term would be disastrous for any Government of the day, the instability that it will cause continues to make it a scary disease that we just want to continue managing. However, it has to be removed. The process is not transparent, NNPL cannot continue to be a regulator and a player in the game. Not to mention that it is the sole importer of gasoline, it's almost as though they are waiting for Dangote to come online then it transitions to a regulator. It is in my opinion that even when Dangote comes online, it might be cheaper to import than to buy from him. However, Alahji Putin (https://medium.com/@doubleeph/alhaji-putin-s-republic-a07381caec18) will not allow anyone threaten his monopoly. He is after all coming as our fuel messiah. GeneralPula: |
Yeah, since it is the Govt itself that is responsible for these fiscal cuts. At the end of the day, it is still the masses that are most affected. You can argue that our government does not already do anything for us in the first place, it will curtail their purses. However, the future that awaits, even when Dangote brings his refinery online does not seem like a pleasant experience for the masses. Our Nigerian government has show over time that they would rather throw the citizenry under the bus than share the largess with them. Currently they are claiming they are giving monies (#5000) to some certain people, I have not seen even a single recipient. michlins: |
I think this is a naive opinion. You should't borrow to pay subsidy on Gasoline, wherein a significant proportion of it is exported to neighbouring countries. Nigeria has the lowest gas prices in West Africa and we are a smugglers paradise. Soon the borrowing will be impossible without fiscal cut, very steep ones unlike those we have ever seen. michlins: |
Because it is paper. They have some requirements about the ID, I can't recall. However, it cannot be paper or handwritten. dauntless15: |
Is that the only GOVT ID that you have? Even an expired one? My advice to you is that you contact support. Picture attached is the approach I took when Nigeria wanted to kill me because I want to get passport, they verified me with the details and images I provided. dauntless15:

Unfortunately I don't have that information. champeeon: |
No card provider uses the official rate. They would be out of business if they did. champeeon: |
Bros, this is why I have a Payoneer Card. I don't know of another option you can top up with USD directly. RoyalPriesthuud: |
I tell you. ArticleBeast: |
Remitly directly to your DOM account. If the person is from the US, ACH to GeegPay. I wonder why Wise is being reversed tho, suspicious! Toju20: |
Why not use https://noones.com it is simply Paxful rebranded. I migrated my data completely from Paxful and I have already traded Wise several times on the new Platform beautycrush24: |
I mentally track their rates with naira4dollar. The only reason why I use them is because of convenience, and that UBA DOM account prevents you from transferring with the mobile app. qtguru: |
