I don't really use drugs on the injured fish. all I do is good water management. when they start to eat, u know they are on the path to full recovery.

sir check the brood stock you use, or better get brood stock from another reliable source. also make sure you maintain good water management. all these artemia you mentioned are good. I use ocean artemia and it work well.

the best you can do is to isolate the injured fish into a separate vat. if the injury is too severe it will die anyway. but if it is a minor injury isolating it may save it, with good water management. but to guide against reoccurrence, feed the fish immediately even before the water level gets to the top, it will stop the fish aggressiveness.

jites: Okay house, my first set back lol, my partner made a gross mistake which if i was in Niger and with what i know know i would never have made. Its a typical novice and schoolboy error. He went to book juvinnile with a middleman who is not a farmer and guess what he went there today to collect and the guy said oops sorry the fishes are not yet big enough, now alarm bell should start ringing now, he went away in anger but had already paid deposit, the guy middleman man called back and said look i am sorry i actually used the deposit you gave me to sort out some personal business and i did not book the juv.. lol lol i am laughing but i just cant believe it

maybe oga fhemmmy can come in here to hint us how he has been doing it and coping with his own manager in Nigeria , I mean not being around himself and the business is moving.

I guess u are interested in weight gain, u need a drug that would aid FCR,aquapro & livestovit will assist,note no magic about it,if yr fishes are 600gram & u expect to hit 1kg in 17 days,u could have starter earlier, clean water will aid better eating rate in fishes,use of aerators too

Gbam... Excelsiorfarm has said it all. As long as the fish are not sick, good multivitamin like livestovit plus clean water will do the trick.

@ Xone3. My advise is that you learn the easy part first, that is setting up a place to raise fingerlings to tablesize first. If you have mastered that part, then you can go into hatching. Even in school, You dont start with difficult subjects before the simple ones. But you start with the simple b4 going into more difficult ones. Just get enough experience first about catfish b4 moving to hatching.

bro I hope u have the time for it. make sure the brood stock you r using is mature enough. if possible get your brood stock from a farm that also hatch. at least by this they would know if their fish is hatching or not. sometime hatching takes time and money, and if u have 0 knowledge about hatching, do get someone that can put u thru cos u may not be able to do it by itself.

whats the meaning when your fishes cluster around a particular area


i also recorded three mortality in my post juveniles. just noticed them floating on the top of the water. their bodies looks whitish in color

when your fish cluster together it could be the water is bad, that you need to change fast or it could also be that the pond is already infected. This second suggestion is often the case when it comes to clustering of fish and recording of death. By this, if you have a free pond you can transfer the fish there asap or if you dont have empty pond, you need to change their water, and apply salt and antibiotic solutiom on them when the water level is low. This might need to be done everyday for 3 to 5 days for total cure.

please Aleshyto,be very carefull with the use of salt. As it is been use to cure, it can also kill your fish fast.For treatment, especially for preveting diseases, you dont need too much of salt. All you need to do is to drain your water, fill it with fresh water, when it just cover the fish, stop the water. then mix up some salt and any good antibacteria drugs in water solution, but 15kg salt is way too much. then sprinkle this on the fish for like 2hr. then you can drain the water and replace with new fresh water. with this your fish will have a jolly ride to table size. also i have mentioned this before, if you buy fingerlings or even juvenile, try to disinfect it before stocking. in doing this you avoid so many things for yourself. if for on reason or the other your fish refuse to eat, please this is a bad sign that some has gone wrong. solution must be sorted for in days and not even a week must go by with that problem still on. first change their water. if it persis then disinfect and also give them multivitamins. anyway thats all i have for now, i hope to login often. All fingers points down to AYOSAT and AQUATIC1... Its none other than one of these two people... Tokugawa rightly said the fellow also shares inputs on this thread, and I don't think ayosat is active on this thread like aquatic1..

you need to be very carefull on applying drugs to your fish. Please do not apply drugs that you know nothing about. Some disinfect their fingerlings right on purchase before stocking, especially if the source of the so called fingerlings is not clear. It is just a precautionary motive.

Aleshyto: i have concrete pond dat i want to use and i hv borehole dat can take care of d fish for more than one month. Pls how many fish can i stock with dat amount.?

it is better to measure the concrete pond you have and tell us the size, it is this that can determine the number of fingerlings you can stock. Cos you won't want to overstock!

ziegler is very much available. But not at Sabina but at one of the stores at abattoir first gate. (i think they call the place mogaji stores ) they are a major distributor of zeigler fish food.

Like u mention sick...Even when you are sick u get to know what is wrong with u using the symptoms.
