what happens if the old friend cannot drive a car? |
Baby shower does not have a base in African culture, we do not have to imbibe all the traditions of the west, some are good, while some not suitable with african norms, announcing the sex, getting gifts and doing parties for an unborn child? in America? yes no problem with that, it's a big thing there, but in Nigeria and to narrow it down to Ekiti, my state of origin ? oh gosh! that would be an invitation to those 'night flying mamas' to come and change the identity and destiny of the unborn child right inside the womb. |
Omagzee:am Yoruba. |
Omagzee:ohi! my very close colleague is from Orokam and i have other multiple friends who are Idoma, you guys are nice people and i consider your tradition, language and ways of life very similar to mine, i blend easily with you guys. Me sef i fear Alekwu. |
Omagzee:hmmm the mighty 'alekwu' the twin brother of 'magun' of the Yorubas, only that it is more devastating and cruel when it fights, i got the knowledge of alekwu from my Idoma colleagues, man i learnt that the deity fights like willdfire when its sacredness is desecrated. Also i later understood that otukpo and Yala people are not bounded by it, and that if an Idoma woman marries an outsider, she might not be subjected under the spells of alekwu, Are these true? |
Seun:I disagree with you sir! first you should know the reason why the EFCC was created by the EFCC establishment act, 2002. EFCC was not just created, it was a child of necessity, it is a requirement of the Financial Action Task Force(FATF). An international organisation, which has a strong membership all over the world which mandates every country to have a body seperate that collects Financial Intelligence and fights Financial and other organised crimes. As a matter of a not too long history, prior to the Obasanjo civilian regime, Nigeria's reputation was so bad outside the country, especially when it comes to corruption, money laundering and advance fee fraud, Nigeria's name was sinking fast into the mud, as a matter of urgency and to avoid perpetual blacklististing, Obasanjo in conjuction with the then lawmakers had to set up the EFCC which also has under it the NFIU(Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit) in accordance with international best practices as speculated by FATF. In America financial crimes are not handled by the conventional police, the FBI does that, In UK you have SOCA-Serious Organised Crime Agency, almost all over Africa,( East and west Africa especially) they have their own EFCC like bodies fighting Corruption, Money laundering etc, Australia has its Agency too and they work closely with EFCC. If you really understand the modus operandi of criminals perpetrating financial crimes and its likes, then you'll appreciate that conventional law enforcement cannot combat their vices, rather a more scientific and advanced techniques and also highly trained operatives who engage rather in psychological criminal investigative techniques and not physical are needed. EFCC has got all these, if they are allowed to function better hopefully in this next dispensation, then trust me, people will regain their trust in them. |
Constitutionally, the chairman of EFCC must be of the rank of not lower than ACP or it's equivalent in any other law enforcement agency. Note: a civilian cannot be the chairman. |
supereagle:That animal is called 'Ogbo' in Yoruba. |
This is a Genet, a civet cat has a wider jaw and and much bigger in size. |
Ilekeh:To be very honest, you should not have made mention of any other tribe here. Yoruba history, culture and traditions have so much in store to talk about without making mention of other people, let us strive to avoid little problems. Your thread is beautiful and very enlightening, you must have researched hard to extract all these pictures. clothing has always been a part of the Yoruba culture, the white man did not introduce that to us, ever from time the Yorubas have always had the 'Sanyan', 'Bante' 'Kembe', 'Nangudu', 'Aran', 'Alaari' and 'Etu' and these are the basis for the present day Aso Oke we have now. |

henribj:Thank you my bro, it is just too annoying the level of childishness and insensitivity expressed on this platform, i really love to lend my ideas to topics once in a while, but when i see what people do here, i feel so bad and i withdraw back, it all boils down to the poor administration of the site, comments should be scrutinised before been posted so as to seperate the useful ones from the non constructive, but who knows why they allow the trend to go on unchecked. To the topic, i read somewhere one time that the use of Avocado is good for the firmness of the bosom, you can just mash it into like a puree and use it as a massage, also herbs like thyme and jojoba oil are said to be useful too. Exercising is also important, the likes of chin up and press up can help tighten the muscles of those areas. All the best. |

I really know why it will be very looooooooooooong for Nigeria to prosper, if we do not address the issue of objectivity in our thinking. Nigerians rarely used their brains. People think, please think objectively just for a minute, don't allow that shallow myopic sentiments cloud your reasoning. Then ask yourself, is Nigeria where it is supposed to be? are the things happening in Nigeria normal? are there any real development in Nigeria? All we need is change and the change starts from who we are, the thoughts and action that emanate from us. |
I came into the states a few months back for a short professional certification, my people who i am living with felt they should give me a treat today, i said yeah, lets go there. I was taken to a 10dollar buffet chinese place. Wow! i came, i saw and i conquered, not until i pass my boundary and i decided to go for octopus and oyster, i almost threw all the other nice food i already ate up. I regretted that i had to waste it. Food not taken in my kitchen though, but i love to share pics with my friends.

eldav:it is simple. get your Fresh tomatoes, fresh pepper, onions( I like lot of onions in my food), spices. boil your goat meat and stock fish with onions, spices(Maggi) and thyme if you have, add salt. keep it aside. I don't blend ingredients when making my sauce, i rather slice everything- the tomatoes, pepper and onions. since it is sauce, i do not fry much, just steaming. put some Veg. oil in the pot(No cholesterol- i use power oil), heat a little, i don't want to fry, pour the sliced ingredients, let it boil, add salt and your spice after like 8 mins, be careful of the quantity of water, spice and salt you will add, because your meat and the broth already have all, make it boil for 1min, add the meat and pour the broth into the cooking sauce, now allow to cook well, say 10 mins with a medium heat. If you check, by now the whole thing should come thick, and then it's good to go on rice, spaghetti or noodles. This is exactly how i do it and it works, Cooking hand is important too, different hand for different taste of food. |

you're welcome.
? oh gosh! that would be an invitation to those 'night flying mamas' to come and change the identity and destiny of the unborn child right inside the womb.
