Politics › Re: Before You Vote Against GEJ In 2015, Please Answer These 15 Questions. by AZeD1(m): 10:10am On Nov 07, 2014
publisher:
1. Do you remember a time in Nigeria when food commodities like Beans, tomatoes, Yams and onions suddenly disappear or become scarce in our markets? How many times have you experienced this under GEJ's administration?
In my house, we grow our own tomatoes, pepper and yams. So no i don't remember.

publisher:
2. If you live or work near a railway crossing, do you or do you not see trains packed with passengers or cargo plying that route every other day? Was this the situation say 5 years ago?
I don't live or work near a railway crossing
publisher:
3. How long does it now take you to travel from Lagos to Benin down to the East?
One hour, i fly.
publisher:
4. When was the last time you slept in a Petrol station where there was no ongoing strike action in the land?
I've never slept in a filling station before but i'm pretty sure there has been a scarcity of petrol this year.
publisher:
5. Can you swear by God's name that you do not know (or heard of) at least ONE person that benefited from GEJ's YOUWIN scheme without any connections?
Yes i can swear with God's name or in Okija's shine or Sango's shed that i know nobody that has benefited from the youwin scheme.
publisher:
6. Are there massive construction works currently going on at Lagos, Enugu, Abuja,Kano and Port-Harcourt International airports?
The Airport was actually built by human beings and they are Nigerians in case you don't know. The last time i came through MMIA, the heat was terrible, it took me over an hour to get my luggage. If you want to brag about the airport, do something that surpasses the person who built MMIA or the one in Abuja.
publisher:
7. How many federal universities did Nigeria have before GEJ's administration, how many do we have now?
Don't care how many we have. There is no point having a multitude of mediocre universities. Quality triumphs quantity any day. Here is a question for you, can you honestly say the quality of our education has improved?
publisher:
8. Has over 100 modern Almajiri schools been constructed across Northern Nigeria or not?
Don't know, don't care.
publisher:
9. Has Nigeria fully resumed the assembling of vehicles after an almost 25year lull, and do we now have indigenous car manufacturers being patronized by government and private sector?
Only plus in your list.
publisher:
10. Has electricity been privatized in Nigeria, and are you now noticing slight improvements in power? Do you honestly believe that new private investors in power sector can solve a 35year old rotten system in just a few months?
The private investors have been there for a year now and power ain't rocket science.
publisher:
11. Do you know that Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) now acknowledges that Nigeria's manufacturing capacity has grown tremendously in recent years?
No.
publisher:
12. Did you know that Nollywood movies like 'Doctor Bello' and several others were funded with special media/creative industry loans provided by GEJ's government via Bank of industry?
If this is true, GEJ should be fired for this. The entertainment industry should be privately funded. There's so much to do with government money.
publisher:
13. Has contract been awarded and construction work started on the second Niger bridge?
Am i supposed to vote somebody because he awarded a contract? Just so you know, GEJ promised to complete this bridge before 2014.
publisher:
14. If you live around Abuja/Kaduna axis, have you noticed a newly constructed ultra-modern standard guage railway line linking Abuja and Kaduna?
Well i don't.
publisher:
15. Can any government truly find easy solutions aimed at stoping multitudes of religious fanatical citizens that have embraced death and are ready to take others with them?
To solve any problem, you first have to admit there is a problem. GEJ and his cohorts are more interested in blaming anyone and anything under the sky for their failures than accepting responsibilities.
They are also more interested in scoring political points than solving the issues.
publisher:
This is not a thread for insults; these are 15 questions I'd like Nairalanders opposing GEJ to answer.

Your honest responses are appreciated.

Thank you.
If you are truly impressed by GEJ, then you must have really low standards or suffer from serious inferiority complex to think that out of the 170 millions Nigerians, we can't find one person who is better than GEJ.

Sirniyeh:
Those who against this in court prove themselves to be enemies of good Nigeria. Let them try it before 2015 so as to vote them out
The bold part is not true. Besides the vast majority of public servants are not elected.

If you are working, how would you feel if your boss dictates the school your children must attend?

The constitution gives every Nigerian the right to associate and forcing the children of public servants to attend public school violates that right and probably so many others i have no idea of.

CAN therefore asked the Federal Government to explain to the nation the sins committed by the former National Security Adviser, late Gen. Owoeye Azazi who was summarily dismissed in June 2012. Was he sacked because of his Christian religion and to satisfy the cravings of his Muslim counterparts?
Azazi was sacked because he told the world who was behind Boko Haram.

For those with short memories, this was why he was sacked

In sane climes, leaders of parliament do not decamp from their party (which is always the majority party) to another, so I wonder what nonexistent proof you need. In any case, kindly give just one instance of where an incumbent Speaker/head of parliament is a member of the minority party - in any country. Just one.
If leaders of parliaments in "sane climes" don't decamp, why are you trying use the "convention" of sane places in an "insane clime"? Is that not comparing apples to oranges
pro01:
This is a really dumb comparison, and it shows that you have zero understanding of the issue/context of the debate going on here. I'm done.
You are the one that has zero understanding of the issue. The law is clear on who can be speaker but you are trying to say only someone from the party with a majority should be speaker then using that same logic, only the tribe with the largest population should be president.
If you can't understand that, then take a class in logic.

Who is talking about a law court? We're talking about conventions accepted worldwide as standard practice. . . we're talking about good old pollitics here. And the political solution to Tambuwal's dishonourable behaviour is to remove him by any means, legal or extra-legal. That's what's up.

Meanwhile, what would "fly in court" is that he defected from the party on whose platform he was elected into the HoR - even though there is clearly no division or FACTION in the party (which is the only exculpatory condition stipulated by the constitution for such action)..
The bold part is bullsh*t. Show me with proof how many speakers have changed party and resigned because they moved to a minority party.

PS: You know GEJ is from a minority tribe, how come you don't have a problem with that?
Politics › Re: Tambuwal:What The 1999 Nigerian Constitution Says About The Office Of Thespeaker by AZeD1(m): 9:23am On Oct 29, 2014
pro01:
You have no idea what 'convention' means, do you? By global convention, the majority party in parliarment ALWAYS produces the Speaker/Senate President/Prime Minister and so forth, as the case may be. Not everything must be explicitly stated in the constitution.
Did you just say convention? The law did not specifically say that the speaker must come from the majority and that is all that matter, anything outside that is market woman gist because it won't fly in a law court.
Politics › Re: If Ekiti's Gov Bed Cost N50m,How Much Will Amechi,Fashola Or Akpabio's Bed Cost? by AZeD1(m): 1:13pm On Oct 27, 2014
To the people comparing Stella's car purchase and Fayemi's bed understand this:

If you spend outside the budget approved for you, you are stealing. It doesn't matter whether you spend N1, N200, N1,000,000. Stella spent money outside approved budget, Fayemi did not.

That is the law of Nigeria and in law, there is no emotion or morality.

Did Ekiti people who were left hungry without salaries approved the purchase?
This is a classic example of Selective Judgment.
The Ekiti people through their representatives in the house of reps approved it. If you don't understand that then i can't help you.

major466:
Aren't you the same guys who like to brag about development in Lagos state then go on to claim the same rate of development taking place in other APC states? Besides the Op included Akwa Ibom state for comparison with the others.

Unless we are truthful to ourselves and call spad a spad, we'll continue to have problems in the polity.
1) Who are the "you guys" you are talking of?
2)Can you compare developments between different states? Yes because all governors tell us they have achieved different degrees in their states but as regards this thread, the OP is FALSELY assuming that Ekiti state bought a bed for 2 million therefor, richer states would have spent more. That is akin to saying a man who earns 200k a month must be paying more for house rent than the guy who earns 100k.

You are the foolish one. You assume those beds don't cost more than 250k and you've not seen them or even know where they were purchased from.
Would money have been embezzled during the building of the house, no doubt but go find a lawyer and let him explain the law to you.

There is a reason Fayose is screaming to public and not doing what he is actually supposed to do, which is prosecute Fayemi if he suspects fraud in the whole thing.

Double standard, man! Remember that the 2 BMW bullet proof cars were bought by an agency under the Ministry of Aviation for the use of the minister and other dignitaries. I know that you were and still possibly angry with Princess Oduah for that purchase which was not done by her in the first place but because she approved the purchase of those cars. Those cars were not bought by Oduah for her personal use, it was for the Minister of Aviation and other dignitaries, meaning that Chidoka could have inherited those cars after swearing in.

Here, we have a governor who purchased a N50m bed for the government house and you are explaining it away.

If ever APC take over power at the centre (a very unlikely possibility in the next 20 years), we will all be in trouble.
Stella bought cars with money not approved in the budget and that is stealing, Fayemi bought beds with money approved and that is not stealing.
Stop comparing the two cases because they are totally different.

APC has refuted the story making the round(s) that Fayemi's bed cost N50m.It says it's N2m.

If the government of Ekiti,a poor state could afford a N50m bed for governor Fayemi, then how much will the beds of these governors from these very rich states cost?
OP i'm sorry but the person who sent you to school should have spent that money feeding fishes.

Is there a geometric/arithmetic progression between the spending of Ekiti state and other APC states?

It is the height of foolishness to assume that because Ekiti state bought a new bed, then every other APC controlled state wouldhave bought a new bed.

The problem with Nigeria is not bad leaders, but id.iots like you.
Politics › Re: Why The Silence On Fayemi's N100M Bed But Noise About Stella Oduah Cars by AZeD1(m): 11:15am On Oct 23, 2014
There is a big difference between Stella's purchase and that of Fayemi.

Fayemi's purchase was covered in the budget which makes it right (keyword is right) while Stella's wasn't covered in the budget which made it wrong.

Nigerians need to learn the difference between morally right/wrong and legally right/wrong.

Dstv is a monopoly because they understand their business terrain more.
Crashing Dstv prices will make them bigger and blow the smaller guys out of the water.

For the guy who said it's sports, remember Hitv had the EPL rights for 3 years but that did not stop Dstv.

Why i agree its a waste, Fayose should note that Fayemi did not buy them for himself since they are still in government house.

It will be hypocritical if Fayose doesn't sell those stuff and i don't mean selling them to himself for 100k.

"While reiterating Governor Fayose’s avowed commitment to the masses, Olayinka said; “Left for Governor Fayose, he won’t use that aristocratic government house because it is a symbol of oppression in itself. He will prefer to live where Ekiti people can easily see him, touch him, eat with him and discuss the progress of the State together. “But abandoning it would amount to colossal waste of public funds, let me assure you Governor Fayose will not hide himself from the masses” Olayinka declared."

Nobody is forcing him to leave there, he can always sell the property or remodel it into several apartments so that the Ekiti people can be close to him.

The fact that Buhari took a loan doesn't mean he didn't save or invest.
You have no idea the conditions of the loan so it might have been cheaper to take a loan than to use his money.

PS: The rich spend their money while using other people's money to do business (read loans) while the poor use their money to do business and have nothing to spend.
