A programmer with over 10 years experience in java will not jump ship just cause C# is now open source.
I hear a lot of how good c# is, but no thanks. You've said it all dude. Nobody is going to port a stable program because C# is now open source. Microsoft came too late to the party. Lots of enterprise applications are written in java and they will have to be maintained for a long time. |

Do not laminate your certificate. There should be a disclaimer on the certificate that says any "any alteration renders this certificate invalid"
Laminating a certificate is altering the certificate. |

maclatunji: So in essence, one cannot be an effective politician and still be decent especially in Nigeria. I am almost tempted to agree with you. However, I disagree with you when you say the best way to get good leaders is to become good followers. The fish rots from the head and those in leadership position have the instruments of power to make things happen. That is why all over the world, people have to remove bad leaders before they can make genuine progress.
It is almost impossible to have a bad leadership with the majority its followership enjoying prosperity. When i said we have to be good followers, i meant we have to start the change from outside leadership positions. We the followers have to stop voting based on sentiments but on values. It is only then that decent people will be encouraged to enter politics. I do realize that this is a chicken and egg problem but in my opinion, getting the follower ship right is the first and most important step. |

maclatunji: I find this to be a very interesting situation. Many professionals have this problem when they try to enter politics. The question is: if all the decent people stay back, where will we get good leaders from? The second question is: can you really enter politics as a decent person and stay so till the end? A fascinating conundrum. Can you enter politics a decent person and stay to till the end? Yes but in Nigeria, you wouldn't win any election. In a country were tribalism and stomach infrastructure takes precedence over ideology, it becomes difficult for professionals to enter into politics especially if you don't want to get stained. The best way to get good leaders is to become good followers. |

I honestly don't know the significance of being the head of OPEC, when whatever oil Saudi Arabia and Gulf States decide to pump, is what regulates/determines oil prices.
Rather than wasting time, money, lobbying energy for an inconsequential position, this frog-eyed woman would have served the country better by getting the PIB passed and implemented. And probably get refineries fixed.
These fvckers always have their priorities messed up! We need to find a way to cure Nigerians from mediocrity!!! |

mikeansy: You tell me?
That's the kind of chaos your Tambuwal is creating!
Hence why wise heads like Falana should be calling out Tambuwal for trying to circumvent the law but unfortunately Falana is trying to sound popular by conviniently avoiding a difficult debate! Tambuwal isn't creating any chaos or trying to circumvent the law. The speaker clearly believes there is a faction in the PDP and there's a court judgement to back the speaker. Anyone who feels aggrieved should approach a court to declare the speaker's seat vacant. The idea that "Falana is trying to ound popular by conviniently avoiding a difficult debate" is laughable. The dude knows its not in his place to judge whether there is a faction in the PDP or not. |

mikeansy: If Femi Falana believes a provision so clear in the constitution still requires interpretation or pronouncement of the court before it takes effect then Falana should have said so in his own write up!
Unless you are claiming to be a mind reader you can not know exactly why Falana chose to ignore this important part of the debate! The constitution says a person can defect if there is division in his party and Tambuwal has defected based on the division plaguing the Sokoto state pdp so what do you want Falana to write? |
Politics › Re: Imminent Collapse Of Civil Rule In Nigeria By Femi Falana by AZeD1(m): 10:16pm On Nov 24, 2014 |
mikeansy: It is unfortunate that Femi Falana conveniently dodged the vexed issue of section 68 and whether Tambuwal should remain speaker or not but conveniently carried on referring to Tambuwal as speaker.
I don't also know whether Femi Falana is not in tune with the chronology of events because Tambuwal has withdrawn his case about the withdrawal of his security aides but Falana made reference to this case curiously. Femi Falana is smart to know that only a court of law can pronounce the speaker's seat vacant. Until the then, the constitution of Nigeria regards Aminu Tambuwal as speaker. PS: in case you don't know, the constitution allows for defection. |

Politics › Re: President Seeks To Cut Fuel Subsidies After Oil Decline by AZeD1(m): 9:04am On Nov 21, 2014 |
majekdom2: you really don't understand. Oil prices dropped in those countries because they don't import... That's so easy to comprehend. We produce about 2 million barrels/ day ...which sells at a lower price. You will be importing not at the price the company you importing from sells to their citizens but at a different price. Ok which has to go up.Brent crude oil was averaging just under $109 a barrel for the first six months of the year, and by September it was down to about $95 for the month.
It was at $85.23 a barrel in early Asian trade on Tuesday, meaning that refiners that bought cargoes as recently as September are sitting on losses of about $10 a barrel relative to current spot prices.
The price of refined products in Asia has mirrored the drop in crude, with Singapore gasoil dropping from $110.15 a barrel on Sept. 30 to $98.10 on Monday.
This means that a refiner who paid September prices for crude but is selling products at current prices is staring at substantial loss which has an effect on the export. You are the one that doesn't understand. Oil prices have dropped and that has started a chain reaction along the value chain. unfortunately, the chain reaction did not get to Nigeria and that is were the problem is. |

Politics › Despite Sanctions, Iran Could Buy US Made Helicopters But Nigeria Can't?? by AZeD1(op): 1:53pm On Nov 20, 2014 |
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — An Iranian company on Thursday displayed four brand new U.S.-made helicopters it purchased through third parties, offering them as proof that the country could evade international sanctions over its disputed nuclear program.
The display of the R-44 helicopters came during an air exhibition in Kish Island, in the Persian Gulf.
The four-person helicopters are manufactured by the California-based Robinson Helicopter Company.
Mahmoud Azin, the head of Iran's Helicopters Company, told the Tasnim news website that the helicopters were purchased at a marked-up price through "dealers" and can be used for both training and police air patrols. His company, which has some 25 helicopters, mainly serves Iranian oil sites.
Azin said the purchase showed that Iran could bypass U.S. and international sanctions. He said the international price of the four helicopters is about $2 million.
Iran's civil aviation agency announced the purchase of the four helicopters in September, saying they would be used for training purposes. It did not provide details on who sold the aircraft.
U.S. firms are largely forbidden from doing business with Iran and the Treasury Department has aggressively pursued violators. The U.N. Security Council has also imposed tough sanctions on Iran. It was not immediately clear if the purchase of the helicopters constituted a violation of either the U.S. or international sanctions.
The international sanctions stem from Iran's nuclear program, which Western nations fear is part of a covert effort to develop a weapons capability. Iran denies such allegations, insisting its nuclear program is entirely peaceful.
Iranian and international negotiators hope to reach a comprehensive agreement by Nov. 24 that would see Tehran curb its nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. If Iran could achieve this despite being under heavy international sanctions, what has the government/Army being doing? |
