Posts like this are the reason why Africa is still stuck in the 3rd world.
Zmapp is not the experimental drug available for Ebola, A Canadian company also has 'cocktail' for it which has been 'tried' in humans. A Japanese company also has its own experimental drug.
If people like you spent time doing some research instead of cooking theories up, Africa would move forward.

This is not the first outbreak of Ebola in the world.

"Outbreaks:

Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire): The first outbreak was recorded in 1976 with 318 cases (88% fatality); in 1995 with 315 cases (81% fatality); in 2001 with 59 cases (75% fatality); in 2003 as two separate outbreaks with 143 cases (90% fatality) and 35 cases (83% fatality), respectively; and recently in 2007 with reports of 372 cases involving 166 deaths (1, 2, 15, 16).

Sudan: The first outbreak was recorded in 1976 with 284 cases (53% fatality); and a second was recorded in 1979 with 34 cases (65% fatality) (1, 2, 15).

Gabon: The first outbreaks were recorded in 1994 with 52 cases (60% fatality); in 1996 as two separate outbreaks with 37 cases (57% fatality) and 60 cases (74% fatality), respectively; and in 2001-2 with 65 cases (82% fatality) (1, 2, 15).

Top of Page
Côte-d'Ivoire: Single non-fatal case of a scientist infected during a necropsy of an infected chimpanzee in the Tai Forest (17).

Uganda: Outbreaks were recorded in 2000 with 425 cases (53% fatality); and recently in 2007 with reports of 93 cases involving 22 deaths (2, 15, 18).

Philippine: In 2009, local authorities and international agencies confirmed for the first time that the Ebola Reston virus was strongly likely to have been transmitted from pigs to humans, when it was discovered that 5 out of 77 people who had come in contact with the pigs had developed antibodies to the EBOV virus, no other clinical signs were observed (19).

United States: An outbreak of REBOV in monkeys in 1989 in a shipment of animals from the Philippines, and a second outbreak occurred in 1996 in Texas among animals from the same Phillipine supplier (20).

Western Uganda: The outbreak in 2007 in the townships of Bundibugyo and Kikyo in the Bundibugyo district marked the discovery of the fifth strain of the virus, the Bundibugyo ebolavirus (9). The outbreak lasted for 2 months, with 149 suspected cases and 37 deaths

The author is right. We Africans have the same brain as the white man, we also have the same 24 hours as them so why can't we help ourselves?

Ebola was discovered in Africa some 30+ years, The Americans, Russians, Canadians, Japanese all have labs studying Ebola but nothing is in Africa (based on Google search).

It's time we Africans took our destiny into our own hands.

EbuGeneral: i Believe u, i also told my friends too, this Ebola was prepared in a Laboratory and sent down to Africa. Reasons:

1. To reduce the growing population of Africa(west)
2. To stop developmental processes in Africa.
3. Don't we think that U.S. wil gain more power from EVD and the vaccine. Read the comments of Obama again.
4. Maybe the wil exchange the EVD Experimental Vaccine wit our gay Bill.. Lol
5. America will know.

Why is Isha Sessay even an issue to be focused on.. the girls are still missing. If the government had properly secured Nigerians, Chibok wouldn't be a topic for discussion.

Sessay did what millions of Nigerians are itching to do which is grill the government without fear.

This thread is useless in every sphere.

Politics › Re: #Where is CNN Isha Sesay As Ebola Ravages Her Home Country, Sierra Leone? by AZeD1(m): 4:22pm On Aug 08, 2014
Okijajuju1: Lemme get something straigth..

Are you saying what Sesay did in Nigeria during the start of the Chibok crisis meant nothing because of the Ebola Virus?!

Okay.. Lets reason together;

1. Ebola is a disease. The best that can be done in the past prior to the discovery of the existence of a trial drug was to educate people on how to stay safe.

2. Chibok Crisis was a Kidnapping of young school girls who were preparing for their SSCE. The region of Chibok prior to the kidnappinghad faced constant attacks and the Government had failed to protect them. Until Miss Sesay came in and tackled the Government with hard hitting questions, NO OTHER NIGERIAN MEDIA OUTFIT HAD DARED QUESTION THE GOVERNMENTS DELAYED RESPONSE TO THE ISSUE.

3. Ebola is invincible.. Boko Haram is Visible and has an identifiable face.

4. For Ebola, there seems to be hope of light at the end of the tunnel with the drug MZapp.. For the 200 Plus Chibok girls, their fate as we speak is as good as 0.000000001 percent. Let me put it in better perspective for you;

A Nigerian Graduate can barely survive 3 weeks of NYSC Camp... How do you think these Chibok Girls have fared in the Jungle or wherever they are with none of the things that NYSC campers take for granted?!

Mind you NYSC is 3 Weeks.. Chibok Girls were Kidnapped on the 15th of April 2014.. 15th if August would make it 4 Months in captivity.

5. Yes Sesay was a little unprofessional in her interviews with the Government, but I can bet you that if your child were a part of the 200, you wouldnt be 'corteous' when you meet with the Government.

I think this thread reeks of pure foolishness and speaks worse of the OP than of Isha Sessay. The Parents of those 200 Plus girls would love to have their daughters next to them whilst they figure out how to survive this Ebola outbreak. Whilst the rest of Nigeria is bothered about just Ebola and Boko Haram IEDs, those Chibok parents are still not protected, still without their daughters for over 3 months, also afraid of IEDs and now also have to protect themselves from Ebola.

Sesay did not have to do shiit about the Chibok issue. Maybe if Channels and AIT and co were not too busy being Loyal to the government, maybe if we Nigerians had mounted pressure on the Government from the onset, maybe if we were all as aggressive as Sesay when this Chibok thing happened, 200 plus girls would not be missing.

Mukina and Seun, its okay to attract traffic to your site, but foolishness such as this should not be tolerated.

Car Talk › Re: New Policy On Importation Of Tokunbo Cars: Big News Page by AZeD1(m): 5:58pm On Jan 09, 2014
solomon111: You are a morøn.
Nigeria is the largest market for imported cars in africa.
Most of the cars manufactured in SA are sent to Nigeria.
Nigeria is a huge market that no car manufacturer would take for granted.
What the FG is trying to do is to raise the tariffs as high as possible to make imported cars less economical to the locally manufactured ones.
Amd they 've also gone ahead to grant both old and new-incoming car manufacturers 50% tax breaks for the next 5 years.
And secondly, the reason why we currently have little car manufacturing is because drastic measures like this have not been taken.
The manufacturing companies see no reason to move to Nigeria, when they can always import unhindered.
And finally,if you think Nissan and toyota can't start manufacturing this year, then i can't help you.
You will need to deal with your pessimism by yourself.
Dude you are really missing the point. The cars imported from South Africa are brand new cars which is bought majorly by companies and not individuals.
A person who buys a 2003 toyota camry for 1.5 million does so not because he doesn't like the 2014 edition but because he can't afford it. Brand new cars are not available to the masses in anywhere in the world. The only difference is, in the developed world, the masses have access to finance while they don't in Nigeria.

http://www.honda.co.uk/offers/
The above link is for Honda UK offers. The cheapest car there is about 2.6 million and if you want to buy via financing, it would cost a minimum of 40k per month. How many Nigerians can afford to be paying 40k a month just to buy a car?
Car manufacturing and financing go hand in hand.
Car Talk › Re: New Policy On Importation Of Tokunbo Cars: Big News Page by AZeD1(m): 5:22pm On Jan 09, 2014
meine: I would have expected the federal government to perfect the following before bringing about this policy.

1. Attain 70% level of necessary infrastructural development, i mean provide electricity and other amenities needed by the coming manufacturers so that the cost of doing business becomes cheap.

2. Secondly, Provide cheap funding for car acquisition. In developed countries car finance is another booming industry, a friend of mine in the USA recently Bought the 2013 Toyota highlander with only 1% down payment. He will spread the balance over 5 years, under such circumstances who wont be able to afford a brand new vehicle.

3. The government needs to prove that it can be trusted. The speed at which stallion got his import waivers shows the policy is skewed to favour some dealers. I heard other major dealers are sourcing for finance and may get a long extension before this policy affects them.

Of what use is the increment in the price of a product if the consumers don't have the necessary purchasing power?
You are so on point. When this policy was first announced, my reaction to it was that it was a good policy in theory but a bad one in practice. The importation of fairly used cars does not affect the manufacturing of cars in Nigeria because those who buy fairly used cars do so because they can't afford the price of a brand new car.

The starting price of a brand new 2014 Toyota Camry is $22, 235. Assembling that in Nigeria will remove say $5k dollars which would bring the price down to about $17k. That is still above the the reach of the common man.

The second problem is that of financing because even in countries where these cars are produced, 70% of the people who buy them do so with loans that are not available in Nigeria.

This article is full of half truths
1) GEJ denied the PDP zoning arrangement so saying Tambuwal elections was a defiance to the presidency is not entirely correct.
2) The only new 'technocrat' appointed by GEJ is Dr Akinwumi. Every other one had been in government one time or the other.
3) GEJ fired Azazi when Azazi told him the truth.
4) During the subsidy debate, NOI said subsidy would be removed in April yet it was removed in January. How deceitful can a Government be?
5) The claim that the subsidy protest was hijacked by 'cabal' is hogwash. This government blames the 'cabal' foot it's inadequacies.

Ngwakwe: Just look at the question above and tell me what the question is pointing to.

Is the Finance Ministry responsible for the amount allocated to EFCC?

In my own opinion, the NASS underfunded EFCC after critically examining the amount allocated to them during budget defence knowing fully well that they have the powers to increase EFCC allocation in the budget and that the FG only presents estimates.

Why didn't the NASS increase or even triple EFCC allocation?

Is the committee trying to accuse NOI of withholding EFCC funds when the amount budgeted has already finished?
The ministry of finance prepares the budget not the National assembly.
