Oga please stop misfiring. Power can be stored but it is not so economical on a large scale. That fact is a direct result of negative scale of economy if you grasp it. There are powerful battery cells out there so stops saying power cannot be stored.
What you should have said is that power storage on a large or commercial scale is not yet economical due to technological limitations.

For your info I am a serious power system enthusiast. Stop parading you ignorance by claiming your proximity to power stations will growing up.
Lol at power system enthusiast.

Have you seen a power company with a warehouse to store excess power not used by consumers?

CodeTemplar:
What device are you typing from? If it is a mobile device with rechargeable battery, then you just contradicted yourself already with the capitalized part of your post.
You are clueless.
So a businessman would build a giant power plant in the hope that consumers would store the excess power he is generation on their phones?

Power generation companies don't store power, anything generated must be evacuated and used otherwise its lost. Before you can get license to build a power plant, you must already have buyers(aka signed a purchase agreement).

Lol . . It is economy of scale and not power of scale brother.

You are so funny.

It is a well known effect of scale of production. It applies to virtually all commercial ventures. Read the CCGT well again and stop being so naive sir.
Power doesn't follow regular economics.
Other companies can follow economy of scale because consumers would buy e.g I'd rather buy in bulk because its cheaper than individually because its cheaper, but that won't work in power because my power consumption is determined by my appliances.
Would you buy an extra washing machine or put a TV in your toilet because power is cheaper?

YOU CANNOT STORE POWER

Embeded Power doesn't mean the ttansmission infrastructure is limitless,l.
Lagos state is totally bypassing Transmission Infrastructure and they are not building their own. They are working with the two distribution companies in Lagos to achieve this.
This is the current model in Nigeria

Generating stations give Transmission Company of Nigeria who in turn share to the distribution companies for onward transmission to the final consumer. Lagos state is taking out TCN completely so it would be New Gencos directly to Eko and Ikeja discos who would then service the users.

You must be a Cameroonian immigrant to say Lagos will utilize FG infrastructure. That statement is against the run of play in Nigerian politics.
Plus that statement will be a paradox when compared to your earlier submission that a Transmission System of 7000MW can't handle a 10 000 MW load.
Do you know the difference between the infrastructure belonging to TCN and the one that belongs to Distribution companies?

Even the article states that its embedded power.

That's because I showed it to you l. If you knew and understood it before you wouldn't have made this comment earlier:
Erm no
Power of scale doesn't apply except you don't know the meaning of power of scale.

The price of power is fixed, you are charged based on your consumption not on your buying capability.
Power cannot be stored, so any power not evacuated is lost forever and you cannot get that money again hence power producers would not generate more than necessary.
Also power is kind of a limited monopoly, you are under a particular disco whether you like it or not, its not like regular products that you can change suppliers when you like

I grew up in a power station, there's probably no power station I don't have at least on Engineer friend working.

Read the OP please. This thread is about Lagos state planning to build up around 3 GigaWatt over the next 5 years. The Transmission of 4 GigaWatt in Lagos is a different ball game entirely to the transmission of 10000MW in 36 states Some states have a single local government as big as Lagos alone. Now do the maths.
Lagos is not building a new Transmission network, they are working with the two discos (Ikeja and Eko) to utilize their current infrastructure.

obviously peace between north Korea and south Korea isn't in China 's best interest. I ll bet some assurance were made to Kim.
This is what Trump doesn't understand. Foreign policy and being the CEO of a company are two totally different things.

Trump needs to calm down and understand that the world doesn't revolve around him.

The bold isn't true. Research it please. Transmission systems do benefit from scale of economy also.
Nigeria currently has a Transmission capacity of 7500MW. It doesn't matter if you build power plant of 10000MW or 10 1000MW plants you cannot transmit more than the 7500MW available.

Like I said earlier, cost of power is regulated, so it doesn't matter if you have a big plant or a small one, you would still sell at the same price.

Thank you. Solution will be to build a large scaled power plant with good scale of economy to drive down price of the power that will be eventually sold to industries. Another point of note is being careful not to overprice the power sold and therefore kill off businesses with high power cost. Lagos already has the printing industry of West Africa for example and it will be so unwise to choke them off with high power rate.
I don't get what you mean by large scale power plant with good scale of economy. Power prices doesn't depend on the size of the power station. A gas fired power station would depend on the price of gas so a bigger power station would actually consume more gas.

Also note that the price of power is regulated and set by NERC although I believe Lagos has asked for some relief/exemption to reflect the true cost of production.

Also the Lagos state model is to build small power plants close to were they would be supplying so as to minimize energy loss from the ineffective distribution system we have.

The airports arent profitable because of how fan manages them. I believe the cirrent international airports would fare better under private sector managememt. The cargo airports have it much worse. Akwa ibom for example doesnt even have cargo opperations and I dont know of any international flights at the airport. The potential is stifiled since the didn't plam it out well.

Osun airport is just like Anambra airport. The investor is supposed to finance it then transfer it over. Their gimmick is the airport city with mall or something.

MOU isnt a legally binding contacts so you hsve no means of punishing the other party.
FAN management is part of it but we don't have the passenger traffic.

I'm not sure MMA2 is even profitable as at today and they are privately managed.

Its weird all these airport projects come with 101 gimmicks. An airport thst comes with cargo opperstions and hotel is normal. The casino, water park, museaum and garden is out there. Anyway its going to be up to the next governor to figure out how get this project off the ground.

Front Page: Lalasticlala
The project was dead on arrival. We (Nigerians) have this mentality that airports bring development when in reality, its the other way around.

I doubt if there's any profitable airport in Nigeria today and some states are still building more.
Politics › Re: Concession Of MKO Abiola Airport Has Failed, Says Aregbesola by AZeD1(m): 7:47pm On May 23, 2018
Only Nigerians think airports should be built in every state.

If you cannot survive without Federal allocation, you don't need an airport.
If the civil service is the biggest employer in your state, you don't need an airport.

Hello house,

I am a lawyer recently approved to come to move to Canada. I would be going with my sister, I have a few questions

Which province is preferable to settle in for work (me) and School (my sister)
This depends on a lot of factors

Are there any lawyers in the house who could help me to get my license ( my thirst for law is insane)

You would need to write your intending province exam and article for 10 months.

We would need an accommodation, pls how do I find one b4 we land, are they expensive.
Kijiji or AirBnB

Thank you as u respond

Let's assume all you are saying is correct.

What did Jonathan spend on?
And why couldn't they be completed in 8 years?
A lot of them are completed. There's no or partial gas so they are either not working.

Some of them are two phases, e.g Geregu has 1& 2 same as Omotosho.

OBJ awarded the contracts and paid, Yar'Adua stopped them and GEJ revived them with some modifications.

I know people who personally worked on NIPP projects so this is not a political answer.

And where's the electricity and with how many billions of dollarshuh??
Why are you asking me?

70% of the power stations in Nigeria are gas fired. Is the country generating enough gas for all of them?

Are all of them even connected to gas pipelines?
Politics › Re: $16b Power Project: I’m Ready For Probe, Obasanjo Dares Buhari by AZeD1(m): 10:46pm On May 22, 2018
GavelSlam:

I'm not admitting anything.

I'm simply saying OBJ could not have spent 16 billion dollars on electricity and if he did Jonathan could not have spent much more.

It's not like there was nothing before OBJ.
OBJ started the NIPP project and built about 7(not sure about the number now). The problem is the site locations were not ideal because they were sited in places without gas pipelines.

Geregu power station
Ihorbov power station
Papalanto power station
Omotosho power station
Alaodji power station.

Those are some of the power stations that were paid for from the alleged $16B.

It's doesn't make any sense.
Obj is a Shameless old fool thief.
How will his stupìd book explain how he spent the money?
16 billion dollars o

Some of you are just sentimentality foolish.

Let's say Obj spent that money on wind turbine alone (a giant wind turbine cost about a million dollars. 16b/1m = 16000 wind turbines which can generate about 30,000 mega watts )
It's a big shame because today, NIGERIA CAN NOT EVEN BOAST OF 8000 MEGA WATTS.

Please be sentimental with sense.
Actually Nigeria has an installed capacity of about 12500MW.
Politics › Re: Buhari Queries Obasanjo Over $16bn Power Project by AZeD1(m): 3:44pm On May 22, 2018
OBJ spent the $16 billion on NIPP projects. Granted some of the money went into private hands and some of the power plants were built in the wrong place.

2) Corruption in NACA is not because it's head is a Doctor.

Hi Canadian family, wishing everyone a great long weekend as we're set to celebrate Victoria Day on Monday.

For those in the GTA, you could check out Nathan Philips Square in Toronto this weekend where they are hosting Urbani_T, a free outdoor event celebrating fashion shows, design workshops, music and art installations with pop up shops and food trucks. I got these few pics this morning as they were setting up for it.
For those in Ottawa, we should visit Gatineau park or if anyone knows any other fun place.
