A man/woman don't just wake up to loose the sexual drives and attraction he/she has for a partner without being attracted to someone else.
It's either the lady is cheating(which I believe) or she's crushing on someone as a result of a faded character/attribute of her husband. This post shows you are not married. Come back two years after marriage and talk. |

deomelo: [s]
Irrelevant, PDP and their 16 years gave us 2050MW and darkness.
You mean PMB should have fixed in less than 3 years the gas problem worthless and corrupt PDP didn't fix in 16 years even though they presided over the largest earnings in the history of Nigeria.
Shouldn't the worthless PDP have fixed it in the first place?
You are either clueless or just not smart at all.
PDP spent $16 billion and 16 years on 2050MW
PMB is spending $5 billion on 3050 Mambila and to be ready in less than 6 years.
So, explain the difference between $16 billion/16 years on 2050MW Vs $5 billion on 3050MW and 6 years.
Useless PDP, OBJ and incompetent Jona should have spent 5 billion on 3050 Mambila and the plan and design were on their table, it's been on the drawing board for over 30 years.
In 2018 alone, we are getting over 1.000MW and on top of that, 450MW Geregu2, plus tons of transmission projects, all in less than 3 years.
Thank God I'm a praise singer for PMB and not some crooked and corrupt clowns that saddled us with darkness in return for $16 billion and wasted 16 years.
And you wonder why Nigerians kicked them out... Stop lying, even Buhari himself knows you are lying. See the figures stated by Buhari in 2015 and see your figures and tell us who is lying. Nigeria’s former military leader Muhammadu Buhari has blamed the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the country’s continuing power problems and claimed that there is less electricity now than there was at the end of military rule in 1999. In a speech announcing his decision to run as an opposition candidate in the country’s February 2015 elections, the retired general said: “When PDP came to power in 1999 Nigeria was generating about 4,000 MW of electricity. After 15 years and $20 billion spent we are generating between 3,000 and 4,000 MW.” The ruling party responded with a sharp rebuttal, stating that “as at May 29 1999, when PDP took office, Nigeria was generating 1,600 MW”, but that today the country generates “4,568 MW of electricity”. |

deomelo: Instead of listing power plants to fool people, why add them all together and list the total MW.
Again, I don't remember saying MaMbila is completed so stop repeating the same rubbish if you don't know how to read and comprehend.
I even posted a link stating that the contract for the project was awarded just last year and the expected completion date is 6 years from now.
I was trying to show how crooked, corrupt, thoughtless and incompetent OBJ and the PDP clowns were.
They spent $16 billion and end up with 2050MW, but the plan and design for 3050mw Mambila were on OBJ's table, on Jona's table too so why not spend $5 billion on 3050MW instead of spending $16 billion on 2050MW? Because multiple contracts means opportunity to loot all over the place.
Btw, with all the power plants you listed and after $16 billion and 16 years of PDP and Jona, they gave us nothing but darkness in return, so exactly what's your point? As at today, Nigeria has a total installed capacity of 12500MW. Saying the PDP spent $16Billion and ended up with 2050MW is a bloody lie because before 1999, Nigeria had an installed capacity of more than 2050MW. Egbin built in 1984 1320MW Kanji built in 1968 800MW Jebba built in 1985 540MW Shiroro built in 1990 600MW Ughelli completed in 1990 900MW Even before PDP came into power, Nigeria had more than 2050MW. As at 1999, none of them was working at full capacity and a lot of them are still not working at full capacity 3 years into Buhari's tenure. As for the ones built by PDP between 1999 - 2015 Geregu 1 414MW 2007 Geregu 2 434MW 2012 Omotosho 1 338MW 2005 Omotosho 2 450MW 2012 Papalanto 335MW 2018 Alaoji 1074MW 2012 Olorunsogo 1 336MW 2007 Olorunsogo 2 675MW 2012 This is not the full the list, you do well to to find out about the NIPP project. The Niger Delta powe company (Buhari appointed a new head) has about 10 power stations alone. Most of this stations are not operation because of Gas issues (OBJ's fault) but 3 years into Buhari's tenure, he still hasn't fixed the gas issues. If you want to give empty praise, you can say for each year of PDP's rule, a power station was built, PMB has been here 3 years not one has been built. You can be a praise singer for Buhari, that's your business but stop lying. |

CodeTemplar: Good to know you finally accepted the reality of CCGT gas plants. Going by your above explanation, what you may not realize is that CCGT plants usually starts around the 100MW mark because smaller plants don't give off enough heat to drive much pistons. The implication of this is that if Lagos goes for gas turbines of significantly less than 100MW capacity then they will end up with generated power that's around N20 more expensive for every KwHr generated. My first post on this thread was just a expression of my concern about that extra circa N20 per KwHr that can makea the power generated less competitive against those from the huge power plants lurking around Lagos. Lagos is not really building any power plant, its all private companies and the plan is to have the smallest 50MW. Also to avoid losses that come with sending electricity over long distance and our ineffective distribution system, the want operators to build close to the consumer i.e if you want to supply FESTAC build it in FESTAC. All Lagos state government is/would be doing is buying the power from the companies directly to avoid the current liquidity issue affecting the current system today. That is why they passed the power law so that if you by pass the meter, LASG would come after you. You should find one of the commissioner's briefing on youtube. He spoke about it extensively. Said they already had a gas supplier down because they do not want to rely on the ND. As for the bold, your initial statement used the word size, its what I was trying to argue with you. If you had said technology this would not have gotten to 3 pages. Have a great day. |

CodeTemplar: Your second paragraph is the reason I introduced CCGT. Since you have rejected a proven industry fact, I know you are determined to hold on to your flawed assertions. I really don't know how to explain this anymore but I will try If Mr A builds a 500MW power plant with CCGT and Mrs B builds a 250MW power plant also with CCGT, the CCGT is no longer a factor because they are both using CCGT. On the other hand, if Mr A builds a 132MW power plant with CCGT and Mrs B builds a 150MW a regular gas fired power plant(not CCGT), Mr A would get more efficiency from his plant than Mrs B even though Mr A has a small plant. It goes back to my point, size doesn't affect economy of scale when it comes to power, technology does. |
Politics › Re: Lagos To Begin Embedded Power Project In July 2018 by AZeD1(m): 8:08pm On May 25, 2018 |
Desyner: I don't think the point is constant power but cheap and competitive power. If the CCGT thing is done it can save as high as N20 per KwHr. I implore you to research it and codertempler to keep his antics in check. Let's learn from each other and make this forum a sane place. You are missing the point. codertempler wrote the following on page one "Solution will be to build a large scaled power plant with good scale of economy to drive down price of the power that will be eventually sold to industries" And I responded that the size of the power plant is not a factor in pricing. Pricing is set by NERC so Mr A building a 500MW plant doesn't me his power would be cheaper than Mr B who's plant is 250MW. That's our argument. It has nothing to do with the technology of the turbine. |

Stop yarning trash about national grid. tell us the use of transformer. both step up and step down. tell us. since you say scale of economics doesn't influence power cost in Nigeria also tell us why northern region pay more for something that is regulated by NERC. 1) I don't know the cost of power in the north 2) This was my initial post, see the part in red. AZeD1: I don't get what you mean by large scale power plant with good scale of economy. Power prices doesn't depend on the size of the power station. A gas fired power station would depend on the price of gas so a bigger power station would actually consume more gas.
Also note that the price of power is regulated and set by NERC although I believe Lagos has asked for some relief/exemption to reflect the true cost of production.
Also the Lagos state model is to build small power plants close to were they would be supplying so as to minimize energy loss from the ineffective distribution system we have. |

CodeTemplar: What are you smoking sir. re-read what you just wrote and correct another ignorant post before I take you shine further. Two major sources of power in Nigeria, Water and GAS. Water or Hydro power plants generate electricity cheaper than gas (its common sense water is free, gas is not). The problem with hydro stations is its initially expensive to build (you have to build a dam) and also for Nigeria, were water levels vary during the year which limits the out put from the power station. Nigeria runs a centralized transmission network which means all power generated is first sent to the National grid. The national control centre is in Osogbo. NCC then sends the power to different parts of the country for onward transmission to end users. If you want, I would explain what happens in Nigeria when there's a system collapse, and the process for restoring it. |
Politics › Re: Lagos To Begin Embedded Power Project In July 2018 by AZeD1(m): 4:54pm On May 25, 2018 |
CodeTemplar: Stop using NERC as an excuse. Why do you think power in Northern Nigeria is generally more expensive than in the south? The cost of generation and transmission differs greatly due to factors like distance of transmission, distribution of last mile settlements, gas supply cost, and power plant size. I don't know the price of power in the North but if its more expensive its because Nigeria runs a centralized transmission network. Power generated from Hydro power stations are cheaper than those generated from Gas and all the hydro power stations are located in the north. If Kanji and Shiroro didn't have to send to the National grid first, power would be cheaper in the North. As for the bold part, that's why Lagos is going for medium to small sized power plants, so they are closer to the people who need them. Also read what you wrote in the bold part and compare with this " Solution will be to build a large scaled power plant with good scale of economy to drive down price of the power that will be eventually sold to industries" The part in red is what brought our argument. |

CodeTemplar: If I understand what the poster you replied is saying, he is saying what I said earlier.
Nobody is arguing that inverter will be needed if PHCN supplies power constantly. What he is saying is that power generated with CCGT gas plants come much cheaper because of proper reuse of the enormous heat given off. It is a well known phenomenon. Just humble yourself and admit you goofed. How does this relate of economics of scale? This was your initial post CodeTemplar: Thank you. Solution will be to build a large scaled power plant with good scale of economy to drive down price of the power that will be eventually sold to industries. Another point of note is being careful not to overprice the power sold and therefore kill off businesses with high power cost. Lagos already has the printing industry of West Africa for example and it will be so unwise to choke them off with high power rate. And I told you that the size of the power plant doesn't matter because the price of power is determined NERC so even if you build a 3000MW power plant, you would still sell at the same price with someone who builds a 200MW power plant. Economy of scale happens when production increase with fewer inputs cost (This usually happens when you buy in bulk) but when it comes to power, the gas required to power a 56MW turbine is different from what is required to power 132MW turbine. CCGT has no factor here because you can use CCGT in a small plant and a big one. |

Politics › Re: Lagos To Begin Embedded Power Project In July 2018 by AZeD1(m): 9:52am On May 25, 2018 |
Desyner: I think you are confusing power generation with power consumption . When generating power with gas turbines, heat is generated and given off, now if the engine is huge enough and gives off enough heat, This heat can be utilized to drive another set of pistons. That is what the CCGT thing is all about. it means that when a gas plant is huge enough its excess heat can be recycled immediately to generated more power. When done on the right scale this practise can significantly lower the cost of power generation. This is what CodedTemplar is driving at. Power consumption is different from power generation.
Plus those other stuff about of peak period and lower chargers are irrelevant facts as far as this thread is concerned. I'm not confusing power generation with consumption. The guy was/is saying build bigger plants to make power cheaper and I'm saying power price is determined by the regulator not by the size of your plant so economy of scale is not a factor. |
Politics › Re: Lagos To Begin Embedded Power Project In July 2018 by AZeD1(m): 9:44am On May 25, 2018 |
Desyner: Sorry to disturb but do you know what inverters are? They store electrical energy chemically to battery. Power can be stored on a small To medium scale but not on a large scale. The there are over 6 methods of starring electrical power. If you had constant power you would not need an inverter. Just you would not need a generator. |
Politics › Re: Lagos To Begin Embedded Power Project In July 2018 by AZeD1(m): 12:40am On May 25, 2018 |
Desyner: Can you explain further sir. How can power usage remain same even at a large scale of generation.? If I have only one TV in my house, it doesn't matter how much electricity is sold, I would only pay for what my TV uses. This is unlike airtime, where if a company does promo I can keep on loading my phone and use the airtime later or cement or any other physical item that can be hoarded. With power, if I don't use it now, it's wasted, so no matter how cheap electricity becomes I would not buy another TV because of that. In developed countries, power is cheaper at night so as to encourage people to use power during off peak periods which then leaves power for those who need it during the day. I could decide to use my washing machine by 2pm but the power company would prefer I do it by 11pm so as to reduce the load on their systems during on peak periods and also to ensure their machines are not idling during off peak periods. Another thing to note is power plants are designed to run non stop and it's more profitable that way so power companies tend to build what they can sell. If demand increases, they'll increase capacity. |
