Don't forget to dress well, smell good and be well groomed. People respond positively to good appearance. |
All i heard was "Yoruba this", Yoruba that". I'm a yoruba guy but it sounds kinda tribalist and self centered. The further you can see beyond the needs of your tribe,country,race....the more sucessful you will be in life. |
Le Ostrich: I REPEAT! WE ARE UNDER HEAVY ENEMY ATTACK! REQUEST EMERGENCY EVAC AND AIR STRIKE! ![]() |
Le Ostrich: The Lekki wet lands are what environmentalist refer to as Barrier reefs. They are composed mainly of shifting shoals and sands and act as a buffer between the ocean and Lagoon. In a way, your point makes sense....but i'll have to disagree still b'cos the Bar Beach erosion has been in effect long b4 the Lekki Wetlands were sand filled. This means the problem's cause has been present b4 the sandfilling of Lekki. |
naptu2: The first ocean surge that I personally witnessed occurred in 1986. At that time Lekki was mainly forest, marsh and grasslands (I know cos my first visit to Lekki was in 1984). Find out about the British Colonial Government's construction of a seawall to protect the approach to Apapa Port.Correct guy...You have exposure. |
Le Ostrich: Don't mind the f00ls.No...They have explained over and over again what caused the erosion so i won't bother doing that again. Just know that what you wrote up there is so wrong. Do your research and be certain b4 posting comments. . |
You think its by "Articulate gbogbo and Kaka" or by opening threads on Nairaland that would have prevented the ocean from washing away V.I?? |
You are talking....Where were you when the ocean was threatning to wash away Victoria Island?? Now an ingenious plan is carried out to protect millions of lives and properties and you think its not worth celebrating?? You make me sick. This is exactly what's wrong with the Black man. |
Are you serious??....Have you ever looked at the ocean b4 and your mental capacity fathom sand filling it?? If its a lagoon front, no problem....but the ocean, with its raging waves?? Pls, give kudos to the sandfilling, its the hardest part of the whole project. Stop hating. Can you all criticizing ever think of pouring sand in an ocean till it turns to land?? I thot it was only the Middle East that could think up such a project but today its in my backyard. Its a lesson in "You acheiving what you think". Now, Musiwa, you sit in the US and boast of what you know and how influential you are while some are busy acheiving things over here. Why don't you come down and do your part too?? |
SOUTH SOUTH: WILL NIGERIANS EVER HAVE A PRESIDENT IN SUIT?It shouldn't be by their "suits"...it should be by their "works". |
The Money transfer has reflected in Clinton's bank account so he's smiling and waving. |
Wonderful news, very inspiring. I wonder why the media is always fixated on the negatives. |
CFCfan: @ba7man: Barca's defenders would play 90% of the time, in the Milan half at Camp Nou. Therefore, expect frequent one-on-ones between El Shawaary/Pazzini and Valdez.Exactly, they'll even do worse in Camp nou. They might win but Ac Milan will surely score again. |
Barcelona and their one-dimensional game play. Its a good one but once you can defend well and beat their back 4 (Who either out of overconfidence or stipidity, play on the other half of the center line all the time) with long balls to good strikers....you'll surely beat them. Warning: Don't ever try to play tick tack with em...ask Man Utd and Real Madrid. |
Imagine, less than 10years ago, the Ocean was threatning to wash away the whole Victoria Island and today, reclaimed land has replaced it. A world class solution to a world class environmental problem. Talk of turning the negative into positive. |
toothpaste: Akpabio said it all a few years ago. Why spend billions (private or public) to reclaim land when there is vast virgin land around the premise of Lagos and other SW states? Like the Tsunami, Surge, and sinking palm development never teach people anything. The Land was claimed by the Ocean and now its being reclaimed and restored back to its original state during the British colonialization. Its also used to protect the coastline which was experiencing Ocean surges that threatened to wash away Ahmadu Bello road and Victoria Island as a whole during Tinubu's administration. I'm sure Akpabio can't come up with a better idea than this. |
shymexx: 'tThis project is designed to attract the rich to invest in it. The rich that set up their biznesses there will have to employ people(Mid and lower class), pay tax(Government). To generate money, you need to think and spend money...the more rich you can attract and give them a good reason to part with their money, the more money in the system. The mainland is also saturated so this type of project won't be viable there, it requires virgin land and what better location than by the Ocean(for the view). |
Delafruita: there are constants everywhere.there will always be rich people and there will always be poor people.there will always be a divide between the rich and the poor.developing a city like the eko atlantic city is definitely a target at the rich while a project like the oko-oba residential estate is targetted at the average class.it makes no sense whinning over a situation you have no control over.the government wants to attract investments.by embarking on a project like this,it encourages businesses to come in.such businesses will come in because the "rich" who will live in that city will be able to afford their products and services.how does the government gain from all this?ask yourself.how does the poor gain from this, the ripple efect will over time spill over to all spheres of societyU have the gift of understanding. |
For a moment some people were actually beliving this story. SMH. |
I was once somewhere and a guy walked in and greeted everyone, stood beside me and exchanged banter with the people in the place for a short while. This guy left shortly and one of the people in the room noticed i was on Nairaland. He then told me it was the owner that just left (Seun Osewa). I didn't even aknowledge his presence due to his anonymous nature while he was in the room. That is a true mark of humility. |
From the comments that GEJ makes, he never exudes confidence in his abilities. |
Dinvestanl: Hi everyone. I posted this topic on autos but i think it should rightfully be here. I have #600k and my wife needs a car. She wants it to be fine/cute like peugeot 206; i think it should be reliable and fuel efficient like Golf III. Please help. ThanksThey're both good choices....The 206 is more modern though. |
Old boy: My dad's car's top speed is 140km/h .....at least he's not trekking. |
Now i am done with you because i believe in talking and proving my talks, i don't believe in empty mouth making and boasting hence you can't prove your claim i have to say, have a wonderful midweek rest. God Bless you my dear brother.
Amen..wishing You the same too.... my Tax evading brother. |
Demdem: Ba7man, beware. Thieves are known to be fraudsters and "forgers" of documentsHe must think i'm a spare-part trader. He fails to realize that if you are involved in the corporate world, you have to present your tax clearance at a lot of turns you make. He must be surrounded by people that don't pay their taxes. |
Yes because recently especially on Nairaland every Nigerian seem to be a tax payer and that sound hilarious lol. Can we do a confidential deal? i don't care how dangerous this risky deal may amount for me in future but i will like to use you as example here. Can you send me a copy of your last tax payment receipt? i am ready to send you list of my personal belongings which i pay taxes and other fee for in Nigeria states. Mind you i am talking about sending you vital documents with verifiable address around Lagos and other Nigeria states except northern Nigeria where i am not bold enough to venture. Drop your id i will drop my id too if you are ready, at least let put lies and chest beating into rest on Nairaland especially politics section. Waiting for you.
I can give you my friend's no that works at LIRS on Allen Avenue if you have to settle any problem related to Lagos state tax payment...It seems you're lower down the economic ladder than i thought. If you plan on travelling out of this country, you need to present a tax clearance, To bid for certain contracts you need to present your Tax clearance(Just 2 examples)....It seems you haven't done either at least once so you must be a floater in the system. It figures, its people like this that complain a lot. Who are you that i need to show you my tax clearance?? Do u think i give a sh*t what you think that i have to prove anything to u?? |
Every Nigerian nawadays claim to be a tax payer and it so awful and knock on ears to believe all these trash. This is the same Nigeria i know that no one has accurate tax record, even a civil servant who's salary is paid by Govt find one way or the other to invade tax paying. Dear friend only business men in Nigeria states pay dues and contribute highest part in developing the state. So go tell this your moon light story to small boys not someone like me, if care not taking you have no job presently or still a student but here you are claiming all you are not.
You see....you no longer have anything to say but doubt. You think I'm like your brothers that don't pay tax?? How do you think i registered my company without paying tax?? Or you think everyone is a Spare-part trader?? |
Demdem: *applause*He must have thought i was dropping my points based on warped sense of reasoning. A lot of posters on NL argue based on sentiments and ethnic affiliation but fail to realize that not all people think that way. I know genuine people that argue based on passion and facts. People like that aint many. |
My friend i am gonna ask you a hard question and be candid in your answer. Please table what you as a person has done to grow lagos or how you have contributed to make lagos state to stand? Don't come back here running around instead of answering this question.
I pay my tax....I keep my environment clean....I'v submitted proposals related to my field which can aid LASG.....I obey LASG rules and regulations....I once told a stranger to stop littering his trash on the street (he was surprised but he got the message that some Lagosians now care about their environment)...look, I'm from Lagos Island and i know how nice it was b4 it was over-run by Igbo spare-part traders. I grew up in Festac Town and it was also very calm, neat and beautiful....b4 it was over-run by Igbo indegenes. I have nothing against them but some of them have a way of over-running and swamping an environment without regards. I'm not pleased b'cos i know how Lagos used to be and i would support anything that will restore sanity. |
Reading your post and shaking my head because i am sure you are from one thick village where civilization is seen as brutal approach, please leave that village and visit some civilized worlds and see how they handle a situation like that. Fashola is clueless and wasteful than any government i know. Destroy all the market and who loose more?
Naahh....U don't get me. A lot of Nigerians don't act civillized and don't want to. You need harsh measures to knock sense into their heads. Sanity must return to Lagos. If you can encourage all this in your resident state, no problem....but we aint having it in Lagos. If you can't handle it....there are luxurious buses aplenty in Ojota and Jibowu. |

The FG also needs to build similar cities across the country and spread the development - rather than embarking on wasteful projects...
