Mad Cow: Bros, Na you talk say the road na busiest in Nigeria plus say 3 times (and more) the population of Akwa Ibom uses the road daily..O.K. I'm man enough to admit i exaggerated the figures but it carries approximately 700,000 commuters daily. That means it will serve the whole population of Akwa-Ibom in 5 days. O.K, over to you....Mention a road more important. |
dayo8080: Why do we Nigerians unnecessarily applaud a political office holder for performing his/her responsibility. He use the public fund to execute the project which is the normal thing to do. Lagos generate revenue more than any other state. Am earning 84k and paying automatic tax of 10k. Imagine all other areas in which lagos generate from. Land use charge, etc if Fashola uses the funds well; he ought to be commissioning projects every day without advertising himself like what he just did.You act as if you never knew what it was like in the 80's and 90's when our rulers didn't bother about the citizens and just relaxed and watched the country wallow in deceay. Governors/ A president now working or making an attempt to look busy is a new thing so let the people encourage them. At this rate, it will soon become the norm and we'll expect no-less from them. It can only get better. That is when the people can acheive the mind-set you speak about. |
Mad Cow: What exactly makes it the most important road in Nigeria sir?!The road that runs through the heart of the commercial nerve center of Nigeria should not be compared to any road in Akwa-Ibom. Its just the random population that use it i projected....Minus the goods and services to millions of people nationwide that pass through this road daily. Mention one road as important as the Ikorodu road or rest your case. Trust me, those Akwa-Ibom roads may look better but Ikorodu road is far more useful and important. So adding lights to it is a very good thing. |
This is a feat the Military regime attempted and failed. The Streetlights kept getting vandalized. It was later abandoned for up to 2 decades and suddenly its lit up again. I just hope they can maintain it. Its 5x harder to do things in Lagos than in Akwa-Ibom...If not more. |
Is intelligence that rare in this country??...Its not about the Street Lights but the importance of the Ikorodu road. Can you compare its importance to any road tarred and lit by Akpabio?? NO!!...This is the most important road in Nigeria(I said it again). Lagosians are happy the most important road in Lagos/Nigeria/West Africa just got lit up. More than 4x the population of Akwa-Ibom use this route daily.....I'm sure it should be even more. |
@ OP. You need to develop interests that will divert your attention from the negatives in the family. You can look for a hobby, a job, a new skill to learn. You also need someone you can be close enough to confide in....Preferably an older female. All the best. |
sympathy55: some of u guys here no fit even buy recharge card talkless of buying side mirror. You are right about that....but it still doesn't give people the right to post lies on the internet. This story contains lies on the cost and specification of the car. |
This is a 10 Lane expressway, lined with banks, Top companies, industries, estates etc located in the heart of Lagos. Stop comparing it with 4 lane roads in the middle of nowhere, servicing light traffic. After Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Sagamu-Benin Expressway, I can't think of a more important road than this one in Nigeria. This is the most important road to receive streetlights in Nigeria.....If not the whole West Africa. |
Illuminating the distance of 7km of a TEN-LANE Expressway that is the most important road in Lagos is worth being happy about after its being in darkness for well over a decade. You might need to drive through that location to really understand what people are getting excited about. This is a 10 lane road that used to be lined with piles of garbage but today, its complete with a BRT corridor, Landscaping, sidewalks and streetlights. This is the MOST IMPORTANT Intra State road in Nigeria ATM, take it or leave it. |
OkparaIgbo: Some people are clearly shameless.!You have a right to vote for who you want. This is more than streetlights, this is the most ambitious Governor in Nigeria. Look at the projects he's currently spear-heading that can make millions of land owners millionaires. (1) The Badagry Express way compete with elevated rail lines and Trams. Any one that road passes his land, home or property is an instant millionaire....... (2) Eko-Atlantic. A new commercial/Residential hub that wil also provide employment.......(3) Lekki free trade zone.....(4) Someone just walked in raving about the Ikorodu Rd expansion and refurbisment. Just to mention a few....No Governor is thinking this hard, I assure you...None. |
kenis: What kind of fucckery is this. I'm really shaking my head on the comments. These goes to show that yorubas don't know zilch about Nigeria. Its more about the distance he was able to light-up and the importance of that road. He just lit-up the main corridor in Lagos which is commendable. Its longer, busier, more economically and socially important than any lit-up road in any of these states you want to mention. |
Some people need to get real. The security operatives saw them minding their biznesses, rounded them up, asked for their names, found out they were Igbo and immediately told them to lie down??....Thinking like that's being delusional. |
nwabobo: The problems posed by Igbo traders in Lagos is child's play compared to those by Fulani cattle rearers but Fashola dare not touch the later as he very well knows the consequence.Cattle rarers dare not bring their madness into Lagos. Do you live in Lagos at all?? The Lagos-Ibadan express is the closest they can get to Lagos and that is in Ogun state. It only small village communities they can harrass in Ogun State. |
This seems humble enough for someone worth $3.5 Billion....If you've worked hard for your money, its o.k to take time out to enjoy it. Reward yourself and get back to work.

awodman: I have watched ur posts ƒσя some time and noticed that you aя̩̥̊ε̲̣̣̣̥ not among the naysayers but is some1 who genuinely wants a positive change I̶̲̥̅̊n̶̲̥̅ his country..but having seen govt break their promises more often than they even make it..U̶̲̥̅̊ become very cynical cos of this huge trust deficit..but I wanna assure U̶̲̥̅̊ that your worst fears won't be confirmedAhh...Thank you ooo. Don't be fooled by my posts though, i'm sometimes tempted to comment based on tribal sentiments or Political affiliation but realize that there's always 2 sides to a book. I'v noticed the South East tend to tilt towards GEJ, PDP/APGA becos he seems to have their interest at heart. ACN has no influence in the South East so they really don't care about them. Meanwhile, in the west, we're still waiting for GEJ to prove his presence by fixing the Lagos-Ibadan and Oshodi-Apapa Express at least. PDP has less influence and presence in the West so we tend to lean towards ACN/APC. Hey, everyone's standing for what they belive in......But GEJ should at least fix the Light situation for us all. |
Sincere 9gerian: "And some will say OBJ is no longer powerful. This man chaired PPPRA at the time the subsidy scam was on, never been prosecuted. The sons of the Chairman and the BOT Chairman both involved in the subsidy scam. PDP truly is the burden of this Nation; an association of thieves and killers"...take datThat means you're not a fan of PDP but you support GEJ. Do you think he has the steel to sanitize that party?? I seriously doubt that. |
I can't defend the traders there b'cos their offences where boldly stated and i can testify to that. I visit the market and its an example of everything wrong with Lagos. |
Hey @Sincere Nigerian. Life aint fair. You could open you own Online forum or blog and post GEJ's acheivements for all to see..... |
Isn't this the same Yerima that likes 12 year old girls ![]() |
This isn't a ghost story but when i was younger i used to wonder if the reflection in a mirror was a parallel world in which evil stuff could dwell. Picture trying to catch your reflection doin somthing funny....or u leave the mirror and it remains....Too much horror films. |
On a serious note, when she's in a good mood, you have to talk to her about her method of correction. Don't be confrontational.....but when she gets the message, Tell her in a slightly firm voice "I don't like it". Tell her to talk to you instead. You must be quite submissive to have sat back and collected Slaps for 23years. You also need to spend less time around her and depend less on her to gain back your respect. Don't make it seem like its "WAR"....B nice while you're at it and resist her bribery for once and watch her get confused. Go out more, mix with people and loosen yourself from her wrapper. Independence will set you free from Slaps.......Or you could just try that Kick above. |
When next your mum slaps you, retaliate with this "special move".....

With all the knowledge Ashish Thakkar shared in his interview i'm quite surprised that some posters above have nothing to say...... See what this guy has acheived at his young age while some people in their late 30's, 40's and above have dedicated their lives to propagating division and hate..... Too late to be like this guy at my age but i'm inspired by his life's example. |
If you live in Europe, you'll be familiar with this car. Its rivals are Toyota Avensis, Honda Accord, Ford Mondeo, VW Passat etc. Its a regular middle class car. If oyinbo start to dey laff us now, you go dey vex. |
sheyie2007: Basketmouth acquires custom made Insignia car; 1st person in Africa to own itI hate it when people come online to start dropping bogus lies. That is a Vauxhall Insignia and he's not the first to own it in Africa. Its a company car (Mid size saloon) class. Its rivals are Honda Accord, Volkswagen passat, Toyota Camry etc. |
What i know for sure is this sand filling has stopped the ocean surges. |
"I'm a Nigerian". Take it or leave it, i don't owe them my existence. To give any other answer would reveal an inferiority complex.....Or you could get creative and reply "I am a Martian". |
seanet01: Am beginning to suspect you, you are a Yoruba lady.It my area, I know all the possible northern communities that can receive them. If you spot any funny movement of people that have newly moved into your neigbourhood, funny deliveries in d night, receiving weird visitors.....just keep an eye out. |
Take a look outside your window...or look around while you're driving. With the way banks are springing up, people are buying brand new cars, young people are setting up their biznesses, people attending shows with silly admittance fees, drinking spots are opening around, shopping plazas are being built and fully rented out b4 completion, markets are thriving, people building houses, buying land.....etc I choose not to belive all this information. Even young men in the ghettos can afford to buy alcoholic drinks, skunk or weed and pay to watch EPL soccer matches in viewing centers owned by people like them. |
I don't know bout all this but all my friends are employed and a lot of them are buying cool cars and moving into nice homes....even the girls. |
antsut: GEJ 'spent $1million Of Aid Money On Featuring Beyoncé And And Jay-z'I'm not exactly a fan of GEJ but give this topic a rest. Its been overflogged. |

So hang on a minute, I should not show my disapproval on a call to Vote a Gov. for President of Nigeria because of commissioning streetlights in a state where over 80% still live in abject poverty and squalor? It is no wonder we have people in government positions taking us for a long ride..
Wake up Lagosians..! Wake up Nigerians.!! and begin to hold your leaders accountable, stop this fo.olish celebration of mediocrity
