PoliticsRe: At What Period Do You Think Nigeria Will Become A Developed Nation by Babanah: 4:18pm On Jun 21, 2020
Until all Nigerians begin to think rationally to solve the problems facing the country nothing will change in this country. 60 years after being granted self governance see where we are today.

I can imagine the huge sense of disappointment among those you witness 1 of October 1960. Both departed and those you are here with us today.

PoliticsRe: What Is The Way Forward In View Of What Is Happening In The North? by Babanah: 5:09pm On Jun 20, 2020
For those of us around in the 70s when Nigeria hosted the 2nd All African Games, Asian African & Latin American tournament. 1st Lagos International Trade Fair then of course FESTAC (the festival itself and the international colloquium).

International artists were queuing up to perform in Nigeria. Some of them when on to release songs reflecting on their experiences in Nigeria.
We did not need a visa to travel to the UK, your visa was stamped on arrival. The Naira was stronger than the dollar yes!!

But alas here we are today, in a dump. Maybe if has do with the movement of the capital to Abuja. It seems since then the giant of Africa has gone to sleep.

On a serious note we have no one to blame for the current state of affairs but ourselves.

The Almighty has blessed each man (woman) with 3 pounds of pinkish grey matter called the brain. He does not discriminate all brains function the same way. We are the only species who can change our environment in as much as environment tries to condition us.

Wake up giant of Africa. One small step of progress from Nigeria will pave way for a giant leap of the black race.
PoliticsRe: Oluremi Tinubu, Sanwo-Olu, Obasa Are Not Lagosians - Bode George by Babanah: 12:19pm On Jun 20, 2020
Bode George himself is of Angolan heritage. His ansestors were taken to Brazil from Angola. Later some 'Afro-Brazilians' mainly those from west Africa but including those from Angola decided to return to Africa. They therefore settled in Lagos (Brazilian quarters on the island).
That's why you have some lagosians with foreign or Portuguese names. 'George' being one of them.
I think if you look at Bode George's facial features. They don't look Yoruba or west African to me. Only DNA test could confirm.
Finally, I have been to Salvador Bahia Brazil several times and you can tell those of west African ansestry from these from Southern Africa. Those from southern African usually have premature white curly hair and big round eyes.
My instincts tell me Bode George's ansestors are from Angola or lusophone Southern Africa
How California beats Texas economically is still a wonder. Texas has more land size, vast oil resources, produced several Presidents who sited numerous mega federal agencies in the state yet, they still lag behind California. I guess nothing beats human resources. It reminds one of the situation in Nigeria. In Nigeria today, I see 3 states who hold the kind of economic potential that California holds in the US but are not harnessing it. Lagos is well ahead on the way but will only reach its fullest potential if their politics of patronage is jettisoned.

1) Delta
2) Ogun
3) Imo

Texas is a bit rural (south) in my opinion
PoliticsRe: NIGERIA! Wake Up. by Babanah: 10:30am On Jun 17, 2020
In addition I suggest Lagos (Eko Atlantic) be converted to a special administrative region/free trade area.
There will be liberal immigration rule for this SAR.This will encourage Nigerians in diaspora to work live and invest in this SAR. Of course this will include foreigners as well.
This SAR will have its own executive, legislature and judiciary. However defence matters will be the responsibility of the federal government of Nigeria.

The official currency in this SAR will be the US dollar and Naira. The territory will have its own financial regulatory authority. Banks and financial institutions will be encouraged to set up in this territory but Nigerian and foreign. We may have local Naira lending rate vs offshore rate to further galvanise the Nigerian economy.

Local income tax will be paid to the local authority within the SAR but corporation tax will be paid to Abuja for distribution among the states and federal government in US dollars.

Anyone how owns a property or has lived in the SAR for over 2 years would be eligible to vote including foreign residents. Corporations will also be granted special voting rights.

Give this SAR one decade an the world will see what the Blackman is capable of achieving.
PoliticsRe: Throw Back Photo Of Murtala Muhammed In 1968 by Babanah: 12:40pm On Jun 11, 2020
Has Nigeria made any progress since this man’s intervention? Nigeria seems to have lost its soul ever since the capital was relocated to Abuja. No progress. This is my opinion.

PoliticsRe: Ministerial List: FCT Natives Ask Court To Stop Inauguration, Remove Buhari by Babanah: 12:41pm On Aug 16, 2019
Just shows how stupid and ignorant people are . There is no such thing as natives of ftc. The federal capital belongs to all Nigerians, that is why it is the federal capital territory.
PoliticsRe: Appoint A Non-northerner As Fct Minister - Right Groups Agitates by Babanah: 11:42am On Jul 30, 2019
Nigeria has continued to decline with the movement of the capital to Abuja from where the country is being run by corrupt and incompetent people. Think about all we achieved as a nation when lagos was the capital and what we have achieved so far since the movement to Abuja.
PoliticsRe: Buhari: Bayelsa With 8, Kano 44 LGAs Have Equal Senators Shows Fairness by Babanah: 8:54pm On Jul 19, 2019
The senate consists of representatives of the federating units which are all equal. The House of Representatives represents the people therefore the constituencies are demarcated by population.

PoliticsRe: Leaked Audio: Emefiele, Edward Adamu Discuss How To Cover-up N500bn Stole - SR by Babanah: 7:47pm On May 12, 2019
Stop spreading lies, they appear concerned about a bank whose losses appeared to have wiped off shareholder funds. They seem to be more concerned by the impact of the news on the economy and foreign investors. Hence they were looking for ways to plug the whole in the finances of the bank concerned.
PoliticsRe: Osinbajo Calms FCT Protesters At Gossa by Babanah: 12:54pm On May 07, 2019
Illiterates how can they claim to be citizens of the FCT? The FTC belongs to all Nigerians. And by the federal capital territory is too large. It should not be bigger than a local government area. The excess areas should be returned to the former states of kogi nassarawa and Niger.
PoliticsRe: Pakistani Lady Is Secretary To Nigerian High Commissioner To UK by Babanah: 10:29am On May 01, 2019
She does not have to be a Nigerian. It's obvious she is not a diplomatic or consular staff. Don't we have Nigerians working in embassies and high commissions in Abuja?
Foreign AffairsRe: Senegal Gets Rid Of Its Senate To Save Money by Babanah: 11:53am On Apr 28, 2019
Nigeria is a federation, therefore the Senate represent the federating Units. Each state has three seat irrespective of size and population. Lets imagine a unicameral legislature in Nigeria, only a handful of states will dominate the legislature. States like Kano, Rivers, Lagos, Oyo and Kastina. That is why it's only the senate that confirms all federal appointments, the House of Reps is not involved. What would happen this was left to a few powerful states in a unicameral legislature. tyranny of the majority against the minority. So essentially the senate act as a 'leveller' for all states in the federation.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Youths Are The Biggest Disappointment - Kingsley Moghalu by Babanah: 1:02pm On Apr 13, 2019
Kingsley Moghalu must have thought himself a Macron in France who start his own party, speak a lot of grammar, make noise on social media and boom, win the presidency.

People you think are intelligent enough to understand the dynamics of the country's politics will just be falling hand and spilling gibberish.

Kingsley should have ran for Senate or governorship, show what he can do at local level, use it to introduce himself to the nation, and then make a case for the presidency.

This is not a rocket science bikonu. [/

Even macron was part of the pervious government, so he was well known.
PoliticsRe: I Support Federal Govt's Probe Of Justice Onnoghen, Says Robert Clark by Babanah: 12:03pm On Jan 21, 2019
In the U.K. You screen new customers during the onboarding process. This will 'red flag' politically exposed persons (PEP) like the CJN.By law the unboarding officer will then have to investigate the source of funds without letting the customer know (tipping off which itself is a criminal offence). If subsequently the PEP is discovered to have laundered the fund without the compliance officer reporting such transaction, the bank will be fined heavily and the compliance officer will face a jail term. The banks who opened the accounts for the CJN are also culpable.
PoliticsRe: Why Tribunal Adjourned Onnoghen’s Arraignment by Babanah: 10:49am On Jan 15, 2019
I don't know why Nigerians are making a bit of a fuss about this matter. It is left to the CJN to search his conscience, if he believes he has done something wrong then he should resign immediately. On the other hand if his conscience is clear he should appear before the code of conduct tribunal to clear his name.

PoliticsRe: Kemi Adeosun Risks 14-year Jail Term For Skipping NYSC, Forging Document by Babanah: 7:45pm On Sep 15, 2018
Let the truth be told. She only became a Nigerian national as well as British at age 34. So the conditions to serve under the NYSC has elapsed. The conditions being (i) you must be a Nigerian and (ii) must be under 30 years of age. If you meet the above conditions and yet did not serve then you need a certificate of exemption from the NYSC. In Kemi's case she did not need a certificate of exemption as she was ill advised. She was just too naive for the Nigerian system.
