Politics / Re: Lawan Warns Against Scrapping Senate, Says Nigerians Can Vote Them Out In 2023 by Babanah: 2:52pm On Nov 20, 2020 |
How can you scrap the senate in a federation? How would you ensure equity among the federating units? |
Politics / Re: Femi Gbajabiamila On Death Caused By His Security Convoy by Babanah: 11:34am On Nov 20, 2020 |
Nigeria should have an Independent Police Compliants Commission to investigate the use of firearms by the police. This is what happens in civilised countries. Once you discharge your firearm. The policeman in question is required to log a report on circumstances, number of firearms discharged etc. It will be now left for the commission to determine if the firearm was used lawfully or not. This happens every time shots are fired by the police. I think this will bring about some sanity with regards to the use of firearms. |

Politics / Re: Why Are All Northern Leaders Knighted B4 Nigeria Independence In 1960 by Babanah: 3:13pm On Nov 06, 2020 |
My point is most of the Nigerian elite wanted to demonstrate their newly won independence by doing away with the past. Most Nigerian apart from catholics do not bear Christian names anymore. During the colonial era you must have a Christian (English) name if you are a Christian. |
Politics / Re: Why Are All Northern Leaders Knighted B4 Nigeria Independence In 1960 by Babanah: 2:58pm On Nov 06, 2020 |
I think so of them rejected the knighthood. They saw it as relics of the the colonial past. Nigeria then was about to move into a new era. Of what use is the title Knight of the British empire to a full blooded and proud Nigerian in those days. Does anyone remember the Christian names of Chief Obafemi Awolowo or Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe? If shows that they were true nationalists. 1 Like |
Politics / Re: Why Is There No Electoral College In Nigeria's Democracy? by Babanah: 8:50am On Nov 04, 2020 |
My understanding is, states are allocated electoral votes. Some states have more votes than other. So the aim is to target the key states with the highest electoral votes in other to reach the magic number of 270. A bit similar to the geographical spread in the Nigerian constitution. |
Politics / Re: Why Is There No Electoral College In Nigeria's Democracy? by Babanah: 8:33am On Nov 04, 2020 |
How about 1/4 of the votes cast in at least 2/3 of the states in the federation? |

Crime / Re: Hakeem Odumosu To Hold Area Commanders And DPOs Accountable For Police Abuse by Babanah: 12:25pm On Oct 06, 2020 |
What the government should do is establish an independent police complaints commission. This commission will be charged with investigating cases brought to it by members of the public. It will composed of human rights lawyers, members of the civil society and police men and women of proven integrity. The commission will also be saddled with the responsibility of independently investigating ALL cases of use of firearms by the police. Whatever the reason or consequences. The current police service commission should be scrapped and replace with the IPCC. |

Politics / Re: Osinbajo: Merit, Not Federal Character, Should Determine Government Appointment by Babanah: 12:24pm On Oct 04, 2020 |
Those giving the northerners a bad name are the middle belters (north central). Trust me people from Kano, bornu sokoto and Fulani generally are very intelligent. Just as people from south south are the ones drawing the southerners back. In the case of north central, it’s the case of lack of access to good education. For our south south brothers (and sisters) it because of lack of seriousness and laziness. |
Politics / Re: Amaechi: FG Will Complete The Lagos-Ibadan Rail Project By December by Babanah: 3:39pm On Oct 02, 2020 |
LaEvilIMiss: My point is the rail terminates at Ibadan at the moment so it would not make much difference if goods destined for say Kano are transported by rail to Ibadan then by road to Kano. The rail network needs to be more extensive to take pressure of our road network |

FieldMarshall06: It’s all about economics my friend, within the euro zone Germany has the strongest economy. It’s uses it’s economic muscle to support the zone. Most of the borrowing is bankrolled by Germany. Within the euro Zone you also have stresses and strains, between the more advanced countries like Germany, the Netherlands and France and the southern countries like Spain and Italy. To get into monetary union there are a number of huddles to cross, bring public sector borrowing within a similar range among member countries. There is the need for interest rate alignment before you can head towards monetary union. The euro is strong because of the economies behind it Germany France Netherlands etc. Which economy within Ecowas is strong enough to back the proposed West African currency? 3 Likes 1 Share |

The writer seems to have little understanding of what it takes to have monetary union. Go and do some research on the euro zone consisting of developed economies. Not to talk of West Africa. 4 Likes 1 Share |
Romance / Re: I Just Confirmed I'm Gay by Babanah: 5:01pm On Sep 24, 2020 |
You are who you are. There is little you can do about it. Homosexuality exists among all races. One in every ten individuals is thought to be gay. Africans know this but keep it under the carpet. Don’t tell your family you are gay but African. |

EBEk101: Of course they treat all customers with respect. But it would be hard to find a head of state doing his own shopping in selfriges of any similar store for that matter. I’m sure If they had had prior notice the store would have closed off the section to the public. |
