I got it 161 today in Lagos. Some guys were selling 162. However, I could have done 159 with a licensed bureau de change but location is Ibadan and it would have been long thing paying into my account and me withdrawing. I also heard CBN didnt sell on wednesday, but they sold today. |

Hilundi: Milan have won UCL 7 times. However, Taye Taiwo playing alongside Nesta and Mexes, means he can only get better. People saying he got offers from England should only talk if they think the offers were competitive for him. Marseille will surely miss him and He's an early coup by Milan. |

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/naira-continues-depreciation-at-bdc-parallel-markets/88200/ For instance, at some parallel market points at Ikeja, Lagos State, THISDAY findings showed that the naira which traded at N156.50 to a dollar at the beginning of the last week, hovered around the N157.50/$1 and N158/$1 band on Friday, Similarly, at Marina, Lagos, most black market operators offered the local currency for N158 to a dollar on Friday as against the N156.50 /$1 it stood the preceding week. |

texazzpete: There are tens of millions of folks in Nigeria who will see this as an opportunity to own a phone. There needs to be someone to cater for low-end users. My only criticism would be warranty of kokomobile and how prospective buyers will be compensated if factory faults are detected. The music industry is becoming highly competitive and these guys need to start thinking of life after music. |

@honeric1 Based on this http://www.lagosstate.gov.ng/uploads/gallery_v1aluso9cbqdcdr9sea7.pdf Level 5 Annual Salary Breakdown for March 2011 Annual Basic Salary: NGN 89,496 Accommodation: 50% of Basic Salary; NGN 44,748 Transportation: 25% of Basic Salary; NGN 22,374 Meals: NGN 6,000 Utility: 15% of BS; NGN 13,424.40 Leave Grant: 10% of BS; NGN 8,949.60 Total annual take-home is NGN 184,992; Monthly: NGN 15,416 These should be pre-tax, @Topic Let me digress a bit, Low cost houses are not meant for the poor or low income earners. Even in the most developed economies, you won't be able to get onto the property ladder with such income. They are really for Median income earners. |

~Bluetooth: Politicians are to be criticised. I wasn't assuming NGN 20m, I assumed NGN10m. He said enough during the Lagos State debate. Remember, this is housing and not what Fashola has done in general!!! |

Fhemmmy: He knows he can't achieve it. Non of our politicians want to stick their heads out and play with figures. They all will tell us solutions, without telling us exactly how they tend to achieve it. Even nairalanders know all the problems we have in Nigeria. Now imagine, if an incumbent cannot give figures or back up his claim that there will be free housing, how will the opposition have a clue on how to tackle the problem or argue a different alternative. We need to remove sentiments, low cost housing is a thing of the past or a thing of not the immediate future. Even if the houses are built with the cheapest materials available today, they still can't be considered low cost based on capital that will be required to complete the houses. These Low cost houses will find their way back into the power play market. [Just imagining a low cost house at NGN 10m, the successful applicants might be quick to sell at NGN 20m and move back to rented accomodation] |

Mariory: Well done Mariory. This has a lot of financial detail revenue and expenditure, infrastructural project status, strategy documents, financial requirements, etc. Nice to see these data set is publicly available. Kudos. The most important one for me is the breakdown of contract awards per contract and the procurement system. |

@illusion2 If I was a betting guy, I would put all my money on Fashola to be re-elected. You need to separate Dosunmu and PDP. Remember Godswill Akpabio [PDP] of Akwa Ibom has been lauded as a performing Governor. Is there usually a competitive bidding process in LASG Contracts? Was Dosunmu talking rubbish or is their sense in him claiming Gov Fashola was spending NGN 1 billion per kilometre of road to fix the Lekki Ajah Road? Maybe the civil engineers in the house can give us a clue on how much it should cost in reality taking into circumstance the geography of Lekki - Ajah road and the kinda work being carried out. |

@IFELEKE He didn't fully address how he would tackle most issues. To do that, you will require more than a minute or two to articulate your alternative policy instrument. I disagree he was there to rubbish anyone, including Gov Fashola and this is borne from the fact that he never insulted him in any issue he raised [apart from them applying for jobs, which i think was childish, but you never know, these things could be real]. He spoke about the shortcomings of his Govt. which are mostly visible. Although i appreciate there will always be shortcomings in whatever policy any Govt implements. See link below and watch to the end: Dosunmu seems very responsible The final question which starts at 06:50 will answer your question on any attempt to rubbish Gov Fashola http://channelstv.com/global/videos.php?vid_shows=progs_390&show=3 Dosunmu was asked on Feb 22, 2011 what he thought about BRF and the response was that he had done his best. He could easily have continued scoring political points that wont win him the election, but he gave some kudos to Gov Fashola. |

honeric01: @honeric01 Watching a programme LIVE affects your ability to gauge the overall performance of co-debaters, especially if there is a bias towards a particular debater, if any. Please watch it all over again to make a better interpretation. In reviewing a debate, you need to listen to the positive and negative comments, and not just spotting loopholes alone in whatever the candidates say. Dosunmu raised the following issues as listed below: Part 2 Time: 08:36 – 10:40 1. Misapplication of funds [2-3 Trillion naira in IGR and FAAC) 2. Genuine Transparency 3. Closed Public Procurement Practices 4. Competitive tendering and bidding Processes Part 3 Time: 04:50 – 05:55 5. Multiple Taxation [Sited research study that highlighted relocation of companies to other states due to the multiple tax regime] Time: 11:30 – 12:35 6. Elitist Housing Estates Part 4 13:55 – End 7. Misapplication of funds Part 6 12:45 - 14:00 8. Reduce ratio of teacher to student in govt schools from 37:1 to maybe 20:1 [Recognised standard] My opinion is that being the best Governor or amongst the best performing Governors should not be a comfort zone. He needs to keep raising the bar. My only fear is SW Governors tend to go to sleep in their 2nd terms, I only hope he does not. I personally think BRF will be re-elected overwhelmingly based on his performance and his popularity. However, my advice to the supposed opposition parties in Lagos is to use a Bottom - Top approach, rather than a Top-Bottom approach. They need to start winning sits in the House of Assembly to reduce the influence of ACN led Govt. to pass bills made in the bedroom of the few power brokers in the party. Snatching 1 or 2 senatorial seats and House of Rep sits could mark the beginning of greater accountability in Lagos. |

Fashola vs Dosunmu Fashola Grievances with Dosunmu 1. He's a liar 2. Incompetency in NIMASA, [NGN150k/day on generating power] cum capability to manage a govt position, vis-a-vis performance 3. Member of PDP [Nigeria's Problem] 4. Old ideas What he has to offer: 1. More of before [rehabilitate more length of road than Ghana for eg, complete light rail system [1st in West africa], independent power projects, job creation for youths, mass transit systems, emergency services] 2. Increase minimum wage within manageable limits Dosunmu: Grievances with Fashola: 1. Multiple Taxation 2. Misapplication of funds [2-3 Trillion naira in IGR and FAAC) 3. Genuine Transparency 4. Closed Public Procurement Practices 5. Competitive tendering and bidding Processes 6. Elitist Housing Estates What he has to offer: 1. Streamlined Tax System 2. Affordable Housing [Jakande Styled] 3. Open Public Procurement System 4. Transparency and accountability 5. Judicious utilisation of resources 6. Competitive bidding processes [for contracts] 7. Reduce ratio of teacher to student in govt schools from 37:1 to maybe 20:1 [Recognised standard] This might not be complete, but at least more than half of their comments or issues raised can be seen above. |

Why will GLO have a serious network problem and they decide to tag it "TEMPORARY" since yesteray nite? Why didn't GLO move fast to place commercials on radios and national tv stations immediately it hear about this. They left their customer in the dark for too long. Anyways, It could happen to any business, but they need to move faster next time. |
