CFCfan:Majority of Americans who renounce their citizenship do so because of Uncle Sam. |
ifax: Why don't u use a hotel reservation? Since u r going for honeymoonHe also needs to reduce his stay to about 10 days. My opinion. |
cindylee: Dear all, I applied for a j1 visa and I was scheduled for Saturday. Is this is mistake from their site or does the embassy work on Saturday? I was scheduled for 9.30 am. Please help. ThanksDon't think that is a mistake. They do interview on Saturdays as well. Good luck! |
Mjseun: Thank you very much MsNas, I'm planning to book my flight to Gainesville when I get to Atlanta. Direct flight is too expensive so wanna break it, still it's over #400k but still prefer it to paying the huge direct flight for 650k upward. Also opting for the breaking in booking incase there's a delay during departure.. so I won't miss the already paid flight from Atlanta to Gainesville.Dude, not sure if you've looked into bus route from Atlanta to gainsville Fl. It's about five hours ride on the greyhound bus and it cost less than fifty bucks. |
[quote author=jimtosam]308km/Hr.. If we have this in Nigeria; Lagos - Ibadan: 12mins Lagos - Abuja: 1hr 40mins Lagos - Abeokuta: 10mins. Lagos - My Hometown (Ogbomoso): 50mins That is, I can be working in Lagos and live in my hometown. Still eat my fresh fruits, live in less noisy neighborhood, maintain great connections with family members and still enjoy my executive job in Lagos. So, why would people be suffering/struggling to live in Lagos? God give us |

skimmeh1: good evening all, i need urgent information for someone whose visa appointment is for next week on how to pay SEVIS fee from NigeriaAsk your question here https://www.nairaland.com/1482362/general-u.s.a-student-visa-enquiries-part5. |
Yarn: Thanks so much bro.Yeah, she can't petition I-130 for you if she lives in Lagos. K-1 visa suits your situation but not really guarantee like the I-130. Denial rate especially in Nigeria is on the high side with the K-1 visa. If you package your application well you should scale through. Good luck! |

Yarn: Any hints, guys?My guy, you said you were getting married in a few months, so this is my advice to you, of all the available options of going to the United States ( b1/b2, F1 and IV ) your best bet is IV. Your chances of getting the IV after your I-130 has been approved by USCIS is very high. Depending on how quickly your spouse submit all necessary documents and pay all the fees, this whole process can take less than a year after filing. Questions asked during IV interviews are basic questions about your spouse that anybody in a genuine relationship should know. You must also show other evidences of your marriage like pictures, means of communication etc. But then again you can also give the B1/B2 a shot, it's 50/50. Just be careful what you conceal when filling for DS 160 cos it might come back to hunt you when you are denied the visa. In short, get married, have your spouse file the I-130 get your immigrant visa, come to the states, pursue your education and start living the American dream. Lobatan! All the best. |
chuckvinz: Good afternoon my fellow winners of dv lottery and all nairalanders...i will be going for interview on the month of July 24 by d God grace... i will be living at Brooklyn new York wit my cousin that has two kids, he is a doctor over there, a consultant.... i really don't know if he can be able to finance my education over there, i av not gotten admission into d uni here in 9ja, and i don't know if it is going to be easy for me over there, i want to study mechanical engineering...i need help and information on how to do it... because my parents can't finance my schooling and everything over there, i will have to do it myself., if there is anyway you can help. You don't need to worry to much about how to finance your education over here. As a green card holder, you can apply for financial aid. If granted your tuition will be taken care of and you will also be given money for books as well. You just have to maintain a good gpa and stay out of trouble. Good luck in your interview. |
Kume2205: Hello,You can have an idea when your mom's interview is going to be by checking the monthly visa bulletin. All immigrant visas are assign a case number. The visa bulletin is alway updated every month, so with your case number you can be checking to know when the interview is going to be. You will also get an email notification like month to the interview. Good luck. |
abbakacici: i was planing on doing my PHD, in finance, banking or accounting , my first degree was not that greet just 2.2 but my masters result based on my first semester result is looking ok not great, like 4.2/5 and i like to keep it, so i am to paid my tuition fees my self ( non funding) what are my chances of getting admission with like 4-4.5/5 masters, partial though with my ACCA, with like 3 years working experience including NYSC without any major publication may be my master thesis and gmat score of 700, if i can get into good school i do not mind funding the program myself, do i have a shoot or i should just look elsewhere because i try checking some few university the competition is very tough like University of British Columbia, Sauder School of Business, have PHD in finance of competition is very high, most of the ten student they admitted this year have first class in both degree and masters with like 3.8/4 did internship in places like J.P morgan and Royal Bank of Canada, help some charity organisation etc, the only thing we have in common is our GMAT score with the class average being like 650 and i have 700.That is a good GMAT score. You should apply to some schools in the US. You might even get a scholarship if lucky. Give it a shot. |
imperiouxx: Seattle should be in Washington state. Seattle is where there is that tall structure. The space needle. |
lorretta u: he's in Washington state. Is it a good place to be?I rep the state of Washington. Yes, it's a good place to live but quite an expensive state. That is why we have one of the highest minimum wage in the nation and a lot of good paying jobs. There are not to many foreigners compare to other cities but nothing to worry about, most people are liberal minded here. It rains a lot, so if you don't like rain you'll hate it. Seattle, is an emerging global biotech center and a hub of biotech activities with a ton of companies. For your background Seattle will be perfect. Funny how I never hear people talk about WA on NL. Some of the corporations that call Seattle home, Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks, Boeing, Paccar, Nordstrom, kenworth, Nintendo etc. Bill Gates, Paul Allen Jeff Bezos all proud Washingtonian. I won't trade Seattle for any city in the states. PS: We have marriage equality and the use of marijuana is legal. |
topaztee: I am also concern on this issue of relatives in US,i have an uncle in the state who have been there since 80s got married to american citizen and later divorced.Though i have never met nor spoke wit him before i only got to know about this from my dad.we shared the same surname and he also had a son with her divorced American citizen.i tried to chat with him on facebk but he hardlyl respond. On my DS 160 application,i filled NO in this section, this is becos i have no concrete info about him and my interview is ahead of me.Pls house what if this same question is being ask on that day, should i still maintain NO or what do you think.Help pls.Usually, it is the nuclear family that the embassy is concern about. So, I think it is ok to say no to that question. Good luck in your interview. |
Melson1: Sir, can a host from U.s also fax a copy of invitation letter to your fax machine, for embassy to know is the real person that he is invitingThe embassy don't encourage people faxing documents to them, unless you are asked to. I don't thinking your host faxing an invitation letter to the embassy is going to make any differences. It might go unnoticed. Your best bet is to have it with you on your day of interview. All the best. |
kevwe_flex: Does he need to come back to Nigeria to process it?But I never said in my post that he needs to come to nigerian, if he happens to win the dv. He can adjust his status so far as he's a student. Exactly what I said in my post. I mentioned consular processing in my other post answering a question about ILLEGAL immigrants who win the dv lottery. Since they're out of status, they are advice to go process their application from their respective countries. And their chances of getting the visa is slim because they broke the law. Two different post, copy? |
kevwe_flex: If he is doing Adjustment of Status, he does not need to come back to Nigeria to process it. He comes only if he is doing Consular Processing which I don't think it would be applicable to him should his student visa be successful. You probably misread my post. How different is what you're saying from what I said? |
Amefrica: Thanks bro.. Those illegal immigrants do they play lottery ? As in are they allowed to play sand if the got chosen would they become legal ?Usually, illegal immigrant who win the dv lottery are not able to adjust their status. They are advice of consular processing, that is going back to their country to process it from there. And since immigration rules have been broken chances of getting the visa is very slim. |
mohamed shire: Hi every one I am a2013 Dv lottery winner. I had my initial interview on 14 Feb 2013 at US embassy in Nairobi. then I had a second interview on 15 July this year. at that time the Consular approved my visa and he also gave me an ALIEN Registration number, and he told me to get my visa after one week but still I have nothing. when I check my visa status it says administrative processing. Why don't you contact the embassy via email. Time is not on your side. Be proactive. |
lagbabe: tanx babbs45,I'd also like to know if dis course can only be studied by pple in dat line of biz or can anybody go for the course?tanxIt's open to all and it is a month program in the state that I reside in. You take a test after the course and if you pass you get a certificate. With the certificate, you can get a job in the health sector ( Assisted living homes and hospitals. ) Usually aspiring registered nurses start with CNA. |
Amefrica: Hi house, pls look into my case.. I applied for DV 2014 which I was not chosen in May selection. And now I'm a prospective student of a University in Minnesota, I already paid for the VISA fee and other stuffs, my interview is sometime around 2nd week of October..Proceed with your student visa application. And if you happen to win the dv lottery and you are in the state, you'll not need to go back to Nigerian to continue the process. You'll take the adjustment of status route. So it is going to be a win win situation for you. All the best. |
lagbabe: pls wt is "CNA"?Certified Nursing Assistant. |
shiba0147: pls house my friend went for non immigrant visa interview last year,he filled married and got denied, now he got married to a u.s citizen here in nigeria, the wife has traveled back u.s and want to filled for him on a spouse,my question is that when he goes for immigrant visa{spouse visa interview}will the former data show up were he filled he was married here in nigeria when he went for the non immigrant visa interview someone answer my question plsDefinitely yes, but it shouldn't be a problem so far as he is divorced from his previous wife. He should have the divorce decree handy, it'll be needed when filing for the IV. |
biggie1o2: hello House, i need your advice on this. Please, don't let your sister complicate things. She should proceed with the application as single. She can file for the guy later. |
