^^ Eyes are being turned away right?  grin

Nicki Minaj is getting that much hype not solely because she's "sexy" but because she can rap. She knows what she's spitting.

Listen carefully to that one up there. Do you think she knows what she's talking about? The babe is just yanning dust! At this rate--no hope for her in the Nigerian music industry.

@ Pendo89, if you ask me, this topic is not even worth discussing. (no offeince). grin

Every single human being born of a woman, has the potential of being "a bad person/sinner".

So, yes all men are potential rapists.

You, Pendo, are also a potential rapist.  smiley

2) Pocket Knife.

You're over-analyzing/thinking the situation.

What is Rape? The act of using force to get your sexual wants. (that wasn't a detailed definition, but you get what I mean).

Using force to get things from other people is a generic thing.

What would you say about armed-robbers? You think they have some "armed robbery" gene hidden in their chromosomes?

^^ Lemme chip in here. I call them Nigerian Englishes. Here are some typical examples:

“Are you hearing me?”
“What is it by your time?”
“Can you hear that smell?”
“I’ve returned it back”
“Reverse back”
“Please help me to shift”
“It's a serious something”
“She gave birth to a male son” ----- A MALE SON?
“Keep space for me”
“Raise up your hand”
“Give me small more”
“Come and start going”
“Let’s be going first”
“I will soon slap you now”
“They’ve taken light”
“I came to your office and met your absence”
“Just face your front”
“Go and buy me cold minerals”
“Yesterday night”
“She and her mother don’t resemble”
“Off your phone”
“I’m finding my pen”
“Come and be going”
“Why are you siding her?”

Don't mind 'em.

Random thought:

The way Americans go about claiming God like they dine, wine and gist with him everyday, is so annoying and aggravating. If the almighty wants to punish people for calling and using his name in vain, after Nigerians, Americans will get the "best" punishment.

A dollar bill says "In God we trust" on the back side; how many of those bills are placed on strippers' booties every single night in America, by Americans-----? Not cool.

Surely I would have gone out of mood when u reply.
Will you come back Hia?! angry  grin

Anvaller:
I didnt attack u. If u look at my comment, I was neither rude nor offensive in anyway.
You took me too seriously. No fuss intended.

Anvaller:
If u believe strongly in "faking accent" thing I would convince u further that u are wrong.
lol.

Anvaller:
If u are learning a language, there are 4 main elements u master about that language. 1) Reading 2) Speaking 3) Writing 4) Listening.
Yelz yelz, I learnt that in high school.

Anvaller:
Let me go to number 2 because its what we are discussing now. If u are taking a speaking test in English (the language in question) U would be tested on fluency, (how very well can u speak without pressure) Intonations, (how are u stressing words in relation with  their context in a sentence and the impression of such sentence) and lastly, pronunciation. (How do u pronounce each words, are u placing right stresses on the right syllables?)
Yelz yelz-- Revision.

Anvaller:
Now my sister, if u are one who have mastered these elements correctly, There is no way you would sound like a typical Nigerian when u speak.
Not true. I'm not sure I know what you mean by "typical Nigerian" though-- a Nigerian with an Igbotic/yorubatic accent?

Anvaller:
My question to you, would you say such person is faking an accent?
Why would I say that? When I speak normally (when I'm not faking accents), I sound like a Nigerian/an African. I sound right. I pronounce my words right. I don't have the yoruba accent when I'm speaking normally-----soooo?

Anvaller:
Another thing, many can pick up accent perfectly even if they are living in a place for a short term (1 yr or 2) are they fakes?
Ah Ah!  cheesy That's the problem right there! The word "fake" is rubbing you the wrong way. There's no big deal in faking an accent Mister-- Trust me, it's allowed. wink

To answer your question--They are not fakes, rather they're faking accents.

Anvaller:
I don't know if u are based in Naija or anywhere else but I hope u'd undstand this thing and re-jig your opinion "faking accent".
Opinion not rejigged! I stay in America.

Anvaller:
If u disagree still, in that case, u must agree that the fact that u learn how to express urself in another grammatical structure (english language) totally different from your native grammatical structure (your local language) also implies that u are faking each time u express urself in english and not your mother tongue.
I grew up speaking both. So, your analogy doesn't really work in this situation.

Speaking is different from accentuation (accents).

PS: I could have replied your post earlier. I didn't know it was gonna be this easy. I randomly saw some chunky sentences in the post, and I assumed it was some Harvard sh1t---- lol.

amblors:
^^^ you imply that anything LEARNED is faked?
Nope. Using the word "innate" doesn't necessarily mean I came from heaven with my Nigerian accent. I kinda had to learn it too; however, THAT IS MY ACCENT.

My vocabulary is kinda jacked up, so pardon me. grin
Music/RadioRe: Fake American Accents On Nigerian Radio & Tv! by BABE3: 7:25pm On Sep 14, 2011
Anvaller:
Babe, this is what I want to make clear. It is wrong to say someone is faking accent. When u are trying to speak in an accent, u have only two options. U either know how to speak in such accent or not. If someone can speak in a given accent very well then he is not faking it, he is speaking it. If u are not able to speak in the accent u are trying to claim very well and thereby speaking rubbish instead, u are not faking it, rather u dont know how to speak it.

What you can tell me is that someone is faking being American/British (whereas he is not) because he is able to speak in American/British accent. I can understand that. But faking accenthuh its a common expression in Naija but its counter-logic.
lol--- See how you "attacked" me like we've had a discussion/argument prior this thread.

Well, there is something like faking an accent. If an accent is not yours (if it's not innate), you talking in it (either wrongly or rightly) means you're faking it. You can fake it convincingly-- it's still faking.

Plus, the phrase "faking an accent" is not a Nigerian thing; it's a common expression everywhere.

LOL-- Hilarious thread!

Everyone should calm down jo  angry grin----Kini big deal? I don't have problem with people faking accents. As long as you sound normal, and people can hear you clearly.
I have a problem with people trying way too hard ("to be cool"wink, and at the end of the day, end up sounding Ridiculous! In fact, I don't have a problem with them, rather, they make me laugh.

Random thought: how come in Nollywood movies, when Jim Iyke comes back to Nigeria from England(after living there all his life), he ends up getting an American accent? ? ?  huh
