pickabeau1: on what basis are you rating teams that got to the quarter final behind a team that has never progressed beyond the second round

I ranked them according to year

but going back in 1994 Nigeria played 2 semifinalist in 1994 and beat one and lost one (lost to the finalist)

Ghana played 2 semifinalist an lost both in 2010

Senegal and Cameroun played 1 semifinalist and lost
Sports / Re: Yaya Toure Has Won The 2013 BBC African Footballer Of The Year Award. by babyboy3(m): 11:35pm On Dec 02, 2013
safarigirl: Yaya Toure hasn't performed better than Enyeama, any attacking midfielder can easily be recognised, but only an EXCEPTIONAL goalie can get the kinda recognition Enyeama's currently getting. Besides, those who win the BBC award don't win CAF. So take your self-loathing self some other place cuz even Yeye Toure knows he won't win the CAF award.

Name the last African goal keeper that won the award?
Sports / Re: Yaya Toure Has Won The 2013 BBC African Footballer Of The Year Award. by babyboy3(m): 11:08pm On Dec 02, 2013
safarigirl: I said before that Enyeama must win the CAF award no questions asked.

They can't even rig it from him if they tried cuz that guy deserves whatever awards he gets this year. He is Africa's best GK, he has broken the record of any African goalie in France or even Europe as it stands whether he beats that of Sirigu's or not (which he will)

I just preferred Mikel to win cuz he hasn't won any international accolades and this is arguably his best year, he may not have another this good, unlike the others.

But as far as CAF is concerned, Enyeama is my man.

@Austeenx, go shove a pile of cow dung down your throat and lay off my posts.

Really!!! Yaya Toure will the CAF award as well, its not a fluke

You are wrong

I work for a train company

Train drivers who witness suicide on the track normally spend 12 to 18 months off due to been traumatised by what they have witnessed! They are very sensitive issues, you will hardly see a picture of an accident in the media, compared to us that we are quick to pull out our phone and take pictures and start sending it around. When in a football match if a player suffers a broken leg, they will quickly blank that part off of the screen.

1) Nigerians tend to leave things to the last minute, meaning they are rushing to the airport for the man to want to hitch-hike
2) Its common knowledge for woman in the UK try to and flex their authority over men once in a while

mikeansy:

What some of you do not realize is that the Federal Government of Nigeria funds the NFF through the NSC. Hence the Federal Government has every right to send the EFCC in NFF to understand why salaries of Keshi and his Technical crew were delayed? If it was found to have been embezzled then someone can be made to answer for it.

If the Presidency can establish evidence of embezzlement by NFF, they can put that evidence before NFF officials and say to them pay the Coach all his arreas and do not tamper with his job or else?

I am sure FIFA will not suspend Nigeria for bringing criminals who defraud the National Treasury in the name of football to book!

Thats the only thing they could do, withdraw the funding, but they cannot remove the president of the NFF, the president of the country is not part of the NFF committee.

They only to do is to wait till they have submitted the list of the final 23 and when protest that if Keshi is not reinstalled they are not playing, you will see Sepp Blatter pulling his hair out. Remember at the 2006 WC when they refuse to pay the togolese player their daily allowance, and Sepp Blatter deducted it from the match fee himself.

Alikaxon: isn't the reasons glaring? He was able to win Afcon without some big players that were looked up to, recently we drew with the europian champions, what could be more?

Keshi had players playing in the Champions League, Keshi also had player playing top teams, westerhor had players from the european basements div 2 and 3

Egypt won 3 nations cup with home base players and also beat Italy when they were world champions at the confederations cup in SA - What Keshi did is not unique
Sports / Re: Super Eagles Of 1994 Vs The Present Super Eagles: The Comparison by babyboy3(m): 10:54am On Nov 24, 2013
Emmysteve: I saw this article writen by one @Deo of KickOffNigeria site. Please read and share your though.

For people who think that 94 set is better
than the present eagles, i diametrically
disagree with them. Remember that agianst
Zambia in 1994 nations cup finals, the super
eagles struggled against a totally new and
home based zambian team (apart from
bwayla and one other player) to win the the
cup. If we may recall, the main core of the
zambian team all perished in a disastrous
plane crash just few months before the
nations cup and they had to raise an entirely
new team for 94 nations cup. Yet with all
our said talented players, we came from a
goal behind to struggle and win that cup. Yet
some people have refused to acknowledge
and appreciate the present eagles team who
not only played zambia(as defending
champion) in the group stage but went
ahead to beat ivory coast(which the 94 team
struggled to beat by penalty shoot out in 94
nations cup) during regulation time.
Also remember that the present ivory coast
team is the best that ivory cost has ever
assembled and is stronger that their 1994
team in terms of exceptional talents like
kalou gervinho, drogba, yaya toure, kolo
toure etc and yet the present team beat
them during regulation time..
it will also be recalled that the 94 team had
to wait anxiously for their last match against
algeria to qualify for world cup, but the
present eagles already had an advantage
from addis ababa before our last match in
calabar which invariably means that nigeria
already qualified before our last match.
without sentiment, prejudice or bias, I
humbly submit that from the objective,
factual and reasonable point of view, the
present super eagles are better (especially in
terms of positive results) than the 94 squad,
though 94 squad might have had better
individual talents. The fulcrum of my
submission is based on the fact that football
is based on results and not necessarily on
exceptional talents. Do not get me wrong, i
never said that exceptional talents are not
good. All i said is that the nitty gritty of
football is on results and not on exceptional
talents in a team.
Finally, Keshi has done a good job to build
the present super eagles team. Let us
support, appreciate, and encourage him and
our super eagles player instead of making
unnecessary comparisons to discredit all his
hard works and that of the players who took
the bull by the horn even when our super
eagles hit the rock bottom by failing to
qualify for nations cup for the first time.
Let us us stop using such disparaging
remarks like " the super eagles struggled to
qualify for world cup" just because some
of our favorite players are not yet in the
team. Up super eagles!! Up Keshi!!!, Up
NFF!!! Up Nigeria!!!. I am always proud to be
a Nigerian.

Just bear in mind that the 1994 team got to 12th in the FIFA ranking... Also beat a World cup semi finalist that had Hristov Stoijkov and Kostadinov and alse beat the first team to qualify from Europe (Greece) narrowly lost to a team that has Maradona, Cannigia and Battistuta with Peter Rufai pulling off some world class saves especially a worldy effort from the great man himself after skipping past Okafor easily

Lets see how far this team will go up the FIFA ranking
Sports / Re: Super Eagles Of 1994 Vs The Present Super Eagles: The Comparison by babyboy3(m): 10:47am On Nov 24, 2013
Swiftboy: I totally agree with the Op but the 94 team went ahead to win the olympic gold medal soo that should also be mentioned as their achievement as well which seem to cast shadow to this present team's success!

I believe the Olympic event was an under 23 tournament which had only a handful of the players from the 94 squad, a Chunk of the Olympic squad came from the U17 winning team in 1993

But 1994 team was our best and strongest squad

but an unfair comparison because when "Do Me" was released Naija pop was still finding its feet within Nigeria and Africa. Its like comparing 2 Real Madrid vs Barcelona games one in 1995 to one in 2012. the 2012 game had over 4bn viewers compared to 100m viewers in 1995

When I was in class 3, I was dating this girl who lives 3 roads away from mine, but after a while we broke up after a big fight, we called each other names, but that was the key part of the story, my ex called me this horrible word (which I wont repeat) but theirs a boy that lived in the same house as my ex who was also calling me that very word. But this boy was my junior at my school, he was in form 1. 2 years went by and all forgotten, but on this very evening I walked pass my ex's house and guess what? I heard that very word from the top of the balcony, I looked up and I saw the boy repeating the word.

The following morning I got 6 of my classmates we walked across the field and picked up this guy, he didn't resist until we got in front my class that's when he refused to enter my class, with a loud slap from behind, he was pushed into my class the was locked slaps was coming from different angles, he must have got at least 40 slaps from different students because of just been disrespectful, he was told to kneel down under a desk from 10am to 2am then he was let go.

A month later I saw the guy again and he repeated the same word, and he got the same punishment, but because that was my final year i decided to ignore him but that was the only time I punished a junior student in my life

Am proud of my skin, the girl shouild be happy balling with the guuy sef.

Its got nothing to do with inferiority complex, most black have low self esteem, we believe in "CLASS" so much, that one cannot date that one because of class or beauty.

A beautiful Caucasian lady will date anyone if she likes you. A beautiful black lady (Mostly Nigerian) will look down her nose at you

Well I didnt particularly like either of them before Mo'hits break up but I switched my allegiance to D'banj when he left because I saw through Don Jazzy's chicanery from afar. His fake humility, manipulative tendencies, I saw through it all. Also I found out that D'banj was actually the one taking care of bussiness while they were in Mo'hits while Don Jazzy was busy carrying his over sized walking stick around, yet D'banj was humble enough to be hyping Don Jazzy as the ultimate Don! I discovered that D'banj was the humble person not Don Jazzy! Don Jazzy was the one spending obscene amounts of money to drive public opinion against Dbanj, yet Dbanj is older than him in Years! Did you know that? I found out that it was D'banj that convinced Don Jazzy to come back to Nigeria. I found out that Mo'hits was set up with a kind loan from d'banjs mom, yet he was willing to let Don Jazzy answer the boss! After all these revelations, I immediately switched my allegiance to Dbanj. Cos if the roles were reversed Don Jazzy will not do for Dbanj what Dbanj has done for Don Jazzy!

And who told u Man-city european fans REALLY vote ?
If so yaya would have won it last year.
Becos yaya is very popular and loved in europe and england.
But Katongo isnt really known outside africa, yet he won it over yaya.Abi ManCity and european fans were sleeping last year ??
Straight from the BBC voting page here is what was written:-

"The winner will be decided by AFRICAN FOOTBALL FANS, who have until 18:00 GMT on 25 November to vote for their choice"

Voting isnt opened to europeans or people outside Africa.

Who the hell told you that, anyone from the 4 corners of the world could vote on line, last year Man City didnt advertised it on there website this year they did, Man City fans will vote in the thousands.

Saying Katongo is not known outside Africa is the most naive statement ever heard on NL, Tell me are you saying the African Nations Cup is not watched outside Africa? Eurosport screen the AFCON to every corner of the globe, Europeans love an under-dog

I believe it says You can either vote via this page or by sending an SMS from your phone to +44 7786 20 20 08: I didnt say you have to be standing in the continent of Africa.

The BBC African Footballer of the Year is an annual award given to the best African footballer of the year as voted by the BBC radio listeners. Voting is done via SMS and online
Sports / Re: Mikel And Victor Moses Nominated For BBC African Footballer Of The Year Award by babyboy3(m): 7:19pm On Nov 12, 2013
elektra80:

Glad u realize its not only based on trophies won like most folks here believe. Most people here will tell u Mikel deserve to win it because he won AFCON. Like I said in my earlier posts, Asamoah Gyan won it in 2010 without winning any trophy for his team (club or country). Also Adebayor and Okocha won it without winning any trophy.

The BBC award normally goes in favor of a player that performs exceptionally outstanding in AFCON if the award is given in an AFCON year. Note me using the word exceptionally outstanding. But they also consider when a player is equally outstanding in top club football. This Justifies Jay Jay Okocha winning it in 2003 and 2004 (I know Nigeria came out as 3rd).

As for Kotongo, he was the captain of the Zambia national team in AFCON 2012 and he scored 2 vital goals for them, he was outstanding during the 2012 nations cup, he was named player of the tournament. I mean there was no other player that really matched him and Yaya was not that outstanding in club football like he is now. Is Mikel our outstanding player in AFCON 2013? I don't think so, it was a team effort and if I was to pick a player that was really outstanding it was Emenike.

As for Andre Ayew, he scored 13 goals for Marseile in 2010/11 season helping them to 2nd place. He then continued that form in 2011/2012 scoring 16 goals. ( U can't deny that goals win u games and when u score goals u definitely get more points).

As for Gyan, Ghana lost to Egypt in AFCON final but Gyan was the player of the tournament. He scored 3 out of Ghana's 4 goals, he carried Ghana to the final. He continued that in the world cup scoring 3 goals. (Goals really does matter). He was the player of the tournament in 2010 AFCON, so a deserved winner.

This year, Yaya didn't perform well in AFCON, but Mikel was not the player of the tournament either and he scored 0 goals. Based on club performance, Yaya scored 9 goals in 42 appearance for man city from midfield in 2011/12. This season he has already scored 7 in 14 appearance. Ok maybe its not fair to judge them by goals scored. Based on gameplay and importance to the team, Yaya murders Mikel because Yaya is a vital player in Man city (Would play in any top team) while Mikel is a squad player in Chelsea.

Now based on votes, more reason Mikel will not win it. Votes are counted based on country and Nigeria having 2 candidates will do Mikel more harm than good. Lets say in Nigeria 40% votes Mikel, 30% Moses and 20% Yaya and the remaining 10% shared by the rest, then Mikel wins Nigeria which will be counted as 1 point. Now voting in Ghana, lets say Mikel wins 30%, Moses 20%, Yaya 40%, rest 10%. Clearly Yaya wins, if Nigeria had only Mikel then Mikel would probably get 50% instead if 30. That is how the voting is done, so having 2 candidates from Nigeria is really not a good thing.

The defence rest his case!!!!!!!!!

Nuff said

I did say this will be decide by Man City and Chelsea fans ...

Man City are encouraging fans to vote for Yaya, Chelsea just told people to pick their choice
